Pakistan: Shia Muslims resort to violence over death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Iran, more than 23 killed after scuffle with security forces

Re: Iran News and Discussions
imo iran should not revert to its previous religion, the millions of shiite islam will look for a new seminary from the ramparts of which they can extol their prophet ali, and in the place of qom what better place than lucknow? the shiites do not get much respect elsewhere in a major / population rich country, no thank you, we are quite bursting at the seams with zealots of foreign religions as is
also, as a sort of recollection down the memory lane, during pokhran 2, the global situation was much more germane for tolerable discussions, the eu and the us were on parity, uk was not such a whimpering dog, and most importantly, russia was not a pariah and was keen to discharge its offices as a p5 member to act as a sort of balanced triad between the anglo(us dominant but uk also an exalted member) and the eu(high-minded and falutin but with cause in those days). Cleaving russia from europe and making russia isolated is a great achievement of the states. Feels like just 10 years after pokhran 2, it would have been nigh on impossible given the world entanglement and of course gwot, by 2010's, heavy censure, talks and finally the events of yesterday.
dont know why the iranians didn't go for acceleration during the 90s after the gulf war, if there was ever a time for them it was then, once the gwot started, there was no way in hel that any hadjis would be obliged

Re: Iran News and Discussions
AI says:
The story you shared refers to a real and well‑documented case, but several of the details circulating online—especially about specific individuals and acts—are not confirmed by credible sources. What is well‑established is already deeply tragic and disturbing, and it highlights serious human‑rights concerns in Iran at the time.
What is verified about Atefeh Rajabi Sahaaleh
She was 16 years old, not 22 as Iranian authorities later claimed.
She was executed on August 15, 2004, in the town square of Neka, Mazandaran Province.
The charge was “crimes against chastity”, often interpreted as adultery or sexual misconduct under Iran’s legal system.
Her trial was deeply flawed, ignoring her age, mental health, and history of abuse. International observers condemned the case as a violation of child rights.
Reports indicate she had been abused over several years by an adult man, Ali Darabi, who exploited her vulnerability.
After her execution, it emerged that officials had altered her age to 22 in records to avoid international backlash.
What is not confirmed by credible sources
Many social‑media posts claim:
- Named officers tortured or raped her
- A judge personally assaulted her
- She tore off her hijab in court
- Specific confessions by officials
These details do not appear in reputable investigations by BBC, IranWire, or human‑rights organizations. The verified reports focus on:
- systemic abuse
- repeated arrests for “indecent behavior”
- a judiciary that ignored her age and vulnerability
- a rushed and unjust legal process
The confirmed facts alone already show a profound miscarriage of justice.
Why her case remains significant
Atefeh’s execution is widely cited by human‑rights groups as:
- an example of juvenile execution, which violates international law
- evidence of gender‑based discrimination in Iran’s legal system
- a case where abuse victims were punished instead of protected
- a symbol invoked in modern movements such as Women, Life, Freedom
Her story continues to resonate because it reflects broader systemic issues rather than an isolated event.

Re: Iran News and Discussions
Further:
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei never made any public statement about the case of Atefeh Rajabi Sahaaleh — not in 2004 when it happened, and not in the years that followed. No credible reporting from BBC, IranWire, Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, or the Abdorrahman Boroumand Center contains any record of him acknowledging the case, commenting on it, or responding to international outrage.
This silence is itself part of the historical pattern:
- Cases involving juvenile executions, “crimes against chastity,” or judicial misconduct were typically handled at the judiciary level, not by the Supreme Leader.
- The Iranian government at the time denied wrongdoing, falsified Atefeh’s age to 22, and defended the execution as lawful.
- The Supreme Leader’s office did not intervene, reverse the sentence, or issue any corrective action.
What is documented
The judiciary and local authorities mishandled the case, ignored her age, and failed to protect a minor.
International pressure grew only after her execution, when BBC and human‑rights groups exposed the falsified age and the abusive circumstances.
Even then, no statement from Khamenei was ever issued.
Why this matters
In Iran’s political structure, the Supreme Leader has the power to:
- pardon or commute sentences
- intervene in judicial abuses
- issue directives on juvenile executions
His silence meant the system continued unchanged, and Iran remained one of the few countries still executing minors at the time.

All air-defenses of Iran have been silenced according to several sources. Israel can fly into Iran unfettered and bomb anything. The US believes within 4 weeks actually less than that US will strangulate Iran completely. The number of missiles & drones launched by Iran have been neutralized for the most part, the few that escaped have done some damage. The Arabs are mighty upset with Iran and they are baying for Iran's blood.

Re: Iran News and Discussions
How US & Israel Tracked Down Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's Secret Compound
How did the US CIA and Israeli Jets manage to track down the Iranian Supreme Leader's secret compound?
It all started around 8 in the morning, CIA tracked some high Level Iranian Leaders at this building right in the heart of Iran
US intelligence shared a critical tip with their Israeli counterparts.
For months, they had been quietly hacking into ::ee-RAY-nee-uhn:: communication channels using Space Force low-orbit satellites.
But pulling off a strike isn't that simple.
In the first wave, they had to neutralize a larger number of Iran's anti-air defense systems.
This critical step cleared the airspace for a massive strike force of around 200 Israeli jets.
But this area is highly Fortified So, how do you destroy a deeply buried target like this.
Well They used bunker-busters.
Their delayed fuses punch through deep concrete before detonating

Strange! Don’t they follow Afra, Ravish, Rathee types? They have been saying that regime is good for them. Aren’t they supposed to be mourning and wearing black bands in support of the regime?
So many Indian liberals and feminists keep lecturing Iranians on what they should feel, yet Iranians don’t seem to be taking instructions.

Our strategy seems to be you will be overwhelmed by the number of images from imported cameras and you will lose track of our leaders unable to monitor so many camera inputs
.
This is an old pic. Hopefully there is some audit done and such cameras are all removed from Indian Government establishments. These are the result of L1 bidder of Indian companies who literally import such stuff from China and pass it on as their own with an Indian name. There will be huge amount of espionage happening across India from traffic cameras to their control rooms tracking VIP movements to the movement of military and their weaponry and numbers and all details getting leaked. There seem to be 0 effort in even auditing or finding out the level of problem before resolving it.

Ali Khamenei’s son reportedly declared Iran's new leader following his father's death
The son of Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is reportedly the frontrunner to replace his father as the regime’s new supreme leader.
Mojtaba Khamenei is favoured to lead the regime by Iran’s Assembly of Experts, according to the New York Times, citing sources close to the decision.
On Tuesday, Israeli and Iranian opposition media reported that Mojtaba had already been selected, though Iranian state media did not confirm anything.
The 56-year-old was initially believed to have perished with 40 of Iran’s top aides, including his father, who perished during Saturday’s strikes.
Mojtaba’s death was ruled out once he was mentioned during leadership succession discussions.
The 56-year-old adheres to his father’s hardline conservatism, including close ties to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, CNN reports.

This big bindi Communist Brinda Karat spouting nonsense reminds me of the famous photo from Iran 1979, where two leftist women celebrated the fall of Shah with a photo of Ayatollah Khomeini.
The leftist women in picture are Maryam Rafiei (right in the picture) and Sahra Mohammadi (left in the picture). Rafiei was beheaded by the Islamic rulers ten years later, and Mohammadi fled to Sweden.
In 1988, there was a mass murder of political prisoners (mostly leftists), all of whom were killed by the Ayatollah Khomeini led new Islamic regime.

Israel "Bombs" Iran’s 88-Member Clerical Council Discussing Khamenei Successor In Tehran | VERTEX
Israel has reportedly struck a building in Qom linked to Iran’s Assembly of Experts, the body responsible for selecting the country’s next Supreme Leader following the killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. According to The Jerusalem Post, the IDF “flattened” the site as part of ongoing operations targeting Iranian political and military infrastructure. Tehran condemned the attack, calling it a strike on a civilian institution and accusing the US and Israel of pursuing regime change. With Iran facing a leadership vacuum and retaliatory strikes continuing across the region, the conflict has entered a more volatile and symbolic phase with far-reaching regional implications.

Re: Iran News and Discussions
Russian President Vladimir Putin on the situation with Iranian air defense:
"We proposed to our Iranian partners to cooperate with us in the field of air defense systems.
However, they did not show much interest at that time, and that was the end.
As for the strategic cooperation agreement, it does not contain provisions related to the defense sector.
Moreover, our Iranian partners do not request such provisions, so there is practically nothing to discuss on this front."
Russia is not getting involved

Re: Iran News and Discussions
PAF Shahbaz used to be the favorite, but it lost key infrastructure on 10 May 26.
What I am seeing its seems.
1. Missiles, Israeli Airforce bases are still in operation- they are just 5-6 bases, if Iran BM's were that great these should not be there.
2. Looks like the Modus operandi for the last 40 years, IF PLA rocket force is retiring a missile, it was sent over to Iran, over the next 30-40 days they will run out of launchers and missiles
3. Shahed drones have Russian Chips and Chinese engines- again these seem to last, Russia can spare some from the Ukraine war.
4. Iranian CM's seem ex PLA, PLAAF, PLAN- I think these also they will run out soon.
But I think US will get enough access to Gulf Airbases, for F-15, F16,F35 etc. It will be a slow slog, identifying, underground missile storage sites the TEL disappear into, hit them etc.
This seems to be an extended cold war between US and China, EU seems to be sitting on the fence. But the fact that Israeli Air bases are still operational seems, Iran capabilities are not that great as they are being hyped up.
Some reports claiming the FA 18 pilot who shot the F-15's was a retired US Navy Pilot, was also an instructor for F14 tomcats.
My Guess is that the final ending will be like Saddam's Mother of all Battles in March 1991. IRGC is like Saddam's Republican Guard.

The Controversial Tafkhid Fatwa From Imam Khomeini Regarding Thighing
——
What AI says:
The claim that *Tahrir al‑Wasīlah* contains a ruling permitting sexual acts with infants did **not** originate from any authenticated edition of the text. It emerged from a chain of **misquotations, mistranslations, and later deliberate fabrications** that began circulating in the early 2000s and then spread widely during periods of political tension involving Iran.
To give you a clear, structured picture, here’s how the misinformation developed and why it persists.
---
##
Early origins: mistranslation and decontextualization
The earliest identifiable versions of the claim come from **anonymous anti‑Iranian blogs and forums** in the early 2000s. These posts typically:
- Referenced *Tahrir al‑Wasīlah* without citing page numbers or editions.
- Provided English “translations” that do not match the Arabic or Persian text.
- Removed legal qualifiers that distinguish **permitted marriage contracts** from **prohibited sexual acts**.
- Confused discussions of *marriage guardianship* with sexual permission.
These early posts were not based on academic translations or seminary‑approved editions.
---
##
Phase 2: political propaganda sites amplify it
By the mid‑2000s, the claim was repeated on:
- Anti‑Iran political propaganda websites
- Forums focused on Middle East conflicts
- Chain emails and later social media posts
These sites often presented the fabricated text as a “fatwa,” even though *Tahrir al‑Wasīlah* is a **jurisprudential manual**, not a collection of fatwas, and the quoted passages did not appear in any recognized edition.
---
##
Phase 3: fabricated “PDFs” and doctored excerpts
Around 2010–2015, several **fake PDFs** and **photoshopped pages** began circulating. These documents:
- Used altered Arabic text that does not appear in any published edition.
- Inserted lines that contradict Shi’a legal principles.
- Used fonts and formatting inconsistent with seminary publications.
Scholars who examined these images noted that the Arabic grammar itself was often incorrect, indicating fabrication rather than translation.
---
##
What actual scholars and translators say
Academic researchers who study Shi’a jurisprudence have consistently found:
- The alleged ruling **does not appear** in any authenticated edition of *Tahrir al‑Wasīlah*.
- The passages cited online are **fabricated or heavily distorted**.
- Shi’a legal doctrine—including Khomeini’s—**prohibits sexual acts with minors**.
- The sections being misrepresented deal with **marriage guardianship**, **age of maturity**, and **invalid forms of contact**, not sexual permission.
---
##
Why the rumor persists
Several dynamics keep the claim alive:
- **Shock value** makes misinformation spread quickly.
- **Political conflict** encourages the use of fabricated religious rulings to discredit opponents.
- **Lack of access to the original text** means most people cannot verify claims.
- **Legal manuals use technical language** that is easy to distort when removed from context.
---
##
Summary
The misquotation originated from **early online fabrications**, grew through **political propaganda**, and persists because of **viral misinformation dynamics**. No authenticated edition of *Tahrir al‑Wasīlah* contains the ruling attributed to it.
If you want, I can walk you through what the relevant chapters of the real text actually discuss so you can see how the distortion happened.

Re: Iran News and Discussions
How Iran Breached US Israeli Air Defenses?
How did Iran manage to strike US allies in the Middle East, even after being bombarded by hundreds of Tomahawk cruise missiles and losing most of its air defenses?
The answer lies underground. Iran keeps its ballistic missiles hidden deep inside mountain caves, making them incredibly difficult to target.
And we can't forget about their homegrown Fattah missiles, which Tehran claims are capable of hypersonic speeds."

Re: Iran News and Discussions
Small question here, in WW2, Nazis were condemned for rescuing for sailors after thier U boats fired Torpedoes at them, here the US submarine sunk an Iranian warship, fair enough. But could have sounded out for rescuing the sailors, could have surfaced released life boats , there was no other Iranian assets anywhere nearby, has the naval code changeduddu wrote: ↑04 Mar 2026 15:04 Is this an Iranian story of Hunt for the red October

Even the Pakistani hangor did the same in 1971 war.
Given the Iranian ship was in Vizag for fleet review and basically not prepared for a war, it would have been better for the crew to feign repairs till the war is over, but someone took a wrong call.

If US sub has taken out a ship then are Chinese subs around as well? And if so what is IN protocol? To tail or not? I know Indian Ocean is vast and this was around SL waters and we have god damn no subs to speak of …
