Aleppo is the prize catch without which there is no connectivity to Turkey, no Industrial hub, no economy. Idlib, Ghouta, Hasakah are all important but by themselves they hold no weight if rebels do not occupy Aleppo. Also NATO has little strategic to gain in Syria without Aleppo in play.

IRAQ'S MILITIAS HAVE SHUT MOSUL'S DOOR TO RAQQA
Alwaght -- Tuesday 8 November 2016

Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) managed to take control of the main road used by ISIS terrorists in Mosul.

Speaking to the reports on Monday, Hadi al-Ameri, Secretary General of Badr Organization said “here is Adaia village. It is located on the road between Tal Abtah and Tal al-Zalt which is the last road leading to the Syrian city of Raqqa.”

“It is also the last road connecting Raqqa to Mosul in Iraq,” he added.

He further said the road is completely under the control of his forces while some PMF units also managed to capture the strategically important village of Tal al-Zalt and al-Massaied.

The strategic mountainous regions near the road are also under complete control of the PMF’s Ali Akbar and al-Qoaida battalion, the commander further elaborated.
“The situation puts us in control of a three way conjunction that lets us to access both Tal Afar and Mosul”, Ameri said.

DAMASCUS, SYRIA (3:50 P.M.) - Minutes ago, he Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Hezbollah launched a massive assault inside the western suburbs of Aleppo, targeting both the Dahiyat Al-Assad and Minyan areas that are under jihadist control.

The Syrian Armed Forces began the assault by storming Jaysh Al-Fateh's (Army of Conquest) defenses at the Minyan Suburb; this resulted in a fierce battle that is still ongoing at the moment.

According to an Al-Masdar field correspondent, the Syrian Armed Forces inside Minyan have managed to seize almost 90 percent of this suburb, leaving only a small portion left to capture from Jaysh Al-Fateh.

At the nearby Al-Assad Suburb, Hezbollah launched another powerful attack on Jaysh Al-Fateh's defenses, as they attempt to reclaim this once affluent area in Aleppo's western corridor.

These are the staging areas and rats nests..time for buratino salvos...

ASCUS, SYRIA (10:00 P.M.) - The Syrian Arab Army's High Command announced on Tuesday evening that their forces are preparing for a new military operation in Aleppo's northern countryside.

"Our military operations will focus on the towns of Haritan, Anadan, Hayyan, and Kafr Hamra," the commander of the Syrian Arab Army's "Tiger Forces," Colonel Suheil Al-Hassan, stated on Tuesday.

"We will unleash hell onto those towns if the terrorists do not surrender to our forces," Colonel Hassan added.

The aforementioned towns are located in the 'Anandan Plains of northwest Aleppo; they have long been under the control of the jihadist rebels, beginning in early 2013.

Earlier this year, the Syrian Armed Forces began a military operation to capture these towns in northwest Aleppo; however, they were forced to halt the attack in favor of the Palmyra offensive.

Any Air Operation will lead to loss of Innocent Humans Life and War Crime Cry.

Any Ground operation using Infantary can lead to significant loss on Assad side and Innocent Humans life loss perhaps lesses than Air Warfare.

So its a waiting game to drain them out and take them one small place at a time , This will minizise loss on Assad side and Pyschologically affect the Terrorist.

well a push and shove could be given using all the bulldozers and caged armour tanks loitering down south in ghouta and daraa type belts...encouragement to rethink is always welcome from shubhchintaks like RUAF demoing a FOAB at night over a rat infested deserted area like khan touman or kafr hamra for all of Aleppo to gaze in wonder...

ending it quick instead of this gandhian satyagraha and gherao frees up scarce resources like desert hawks , 4th div and tiger forces for Idlib and Palmyra . time imo to double down and go all in for aleppo.

this will end very soon now, Russians are starting engines and bomb bays are being loaded

new offensive in NW Aleppo (Anadan plains), Col Suheil al Hassan just announced the start of this offensive, this will disrupt the terrorists even more, they will have to split forces which will allow the many offensives to proceed faster, one key aspect is that huge bombing will always hit first to soften the defensive lines, and firepower is at its highest for Syria and allies.

good. let them get into paranoid siege mentality. but I fear they will massacre civilians and prisoners as they grow increasingly unhinged (whatever little sanity was in their craniums to start with). they already killed some like goats in a raqqa slaughterhouse earlier and more beheaded mass graves incl women and children are being discovered daily in mosul.

i hope potus + putin can put aside differences and atleast get rid of ISIS quickly.

No involving potus in anything, that side is fully infiltrated by all manner of snakes. Just get the thing done fast now.

tic tac toe .. clear Aleppo and block the path between Raqqa to Northern border ASAP. That will make USA see the light and give up it's plans. Trump is in which is true .. but it needs a push from the other side as well to seal the deal. You can't leave any loopholes for enemy to sneak back in.

Russia to launch 'large-scale' airstrikes on Syria as Americans vote
Cruise missiles and carrier-based warplanes to hit eastern Aleppo
Military indicates ‘hundreds of terrorist targets’ to be destroyed

Aircraft are positioned on the flight deck of Russian aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov, pictured in the English Channel en route to the eastern Mediterranean.

Julian Borger World affairs editor
Tuesday 8 November 2016
Russia has threatened to launch “large-scale” cruise missile and airstrikes on Aleppo to coincide with the US election, according to media reports from Moscow.

The strikes, predicted in the 24 hours from Tuesday morning, would be targeted at the outskirts of the city where rebel groups have been seeking to break the Assad regime’s siege of opposition-held eastern districts. They would involve cruise missiles, carrier-based and land-based warplanes, the reports said.

A military source told the Gazeta.ru website: “While in previous cases, when missile attacks were launched from the Caspian Sea, there were dozens of targets destroyed, this time, in literally two to three days, hundreds of terrorist targets will be destroyed from long range.”

Ominous news for Aleppo as Russian frigate reaches Syrian coast
Read more
Over the past few days, the Russian navy has assembled a sizable fleet in the eastern Mediterranean, made up of its only aircraft carrier, the Admiral Kuznetsov, its biggest battle cruiser, the Peter the Great – both from its Northern Fleet, and the Admiral Grigorovich, a missile frigate. There are also reported to be up to three submarines from the Northern Fleet with the Kuznetsov battle group, which are all positioned between Cyprus and the Syrian coast.

As described by military officials to the Russian media, the Aleppo attack would be a show of strength and military capability on the day of the US election. Putin observers have consistently said he puts heavy emphasis on restoring Russian status as a global power.

It would involve the first carrier-based air sorties in Russian history, the use of Kalibr cruise missiles from the Grigorovich or the submarines or both, and Russian warplanes taking off from Hmeimim airbase near Latakia.

Over the course of the election the Kremlin has made no secret of its backing for Donald Trump, and US intelligence agencies have accused Moscow of orchestrating the hacking of Democratic party emails, which were then leaked to the WikiLeaks website.

If she is elected, Hillary Clinton is generally expected to adopt a tougher stance towards Russia than the Obama administration, and Putin is widely seen as narrowing her room for manoeuvre by crippling the Syrian opposition militarily before she arrives in office.

its time to use the teeth on the big dog.

the death of ISIS will hasten the settlement of the future of Syria and Iraq and save a lot of lives (apart from time).

the deep state of USA is going to do a pivot, or atleast attempt a pivot, with a new mischief in Syria. That is for sure.

but before they can get into gear and before Trump is sworn in, Russia would have solved all the rebel issues @ FOAB level. This is what I hope, because else Putin's strategies will seem pretty limp.

secondly there is question of boots on ground, bombing from sky is pointless if USA cannot capitalize on that gains with boots on ground and linking qatar, Kurdistan with Turkey. Again I do not see that being facilitated, Trump or no Trump.
