Balasore (Orissa), July 26 (PTI): India today successfully test-fired its indigenously developed interceptor missile, capable of destroying any in-coming hostile ballistic missile, from the Integrated Test Range at Wheeler Island off Orissa coast.
the accompanying picture
is that of a 60's styx missile.
with the caption :
Defence chiefs were furious after the Indian authorities disclosed that Royal Navy submarines were taking part in secret naval war games off the coast of Goa.
The whereabouts of British warships is usually kept a closely-guarded secret, with Ministry of Defence officials refusing to confirm even which ocean a particular vessel is operating in.
But hours before the games began, the Times of India published full details of the exercise, in which the "hunter-killer" Trafalgar Class HMS Talent was tasked with tracking down the Indian sub INS Shankush.
In a further breach of security, the newspaper even named the commander of the UK task group, Commodore James Morse, who headed a nine-member British Navy team which took on an 11-man contingent from India under the leadership of the commander of the INS Talwar, Captain M A Hampiholi

Downing Street was irritated that news of Mr Cameron's visit was reported in the Indian press more than a week before his arrival.
There is usually a news blackout on the Prime Minister's foreign travel arrangements until he arrives in a country, and the rule is particularly scrupulously observed for trips in areas where terrorism is an issue.
The Government has also lifted a ban on the export of nuclear technology and exponents, despite India's failure to sign up to a non-proliferation treaty.

At one function a few months back:
The following happened:
1) One star journo lit up a cigarette in a technial area causing chaos. No action was taken as he is quite well known.
I think this journos have become a mafia, protecting their own kind etc. Doing that in a clean room will cause untold damage. To bad no action can be taken against such dolts.
My thanks to whoever pointed this out.
Shame on the DRDO for having an image of an M-1 Abrams and the iconic Iwo Jima image on their website and that too with a photoshopped Indian flag.
Two days after I highlighted a DRDO howler on Livefist, there's fortunately been some follow-up. Following an alert that was sounded yesterday after the post was circulated at DRDO HQ, the people in charge were ordered to immediately dispense with the graphic and re-create it using images of only indigenous weapons programmes. In the meantime, they've replaced the old howler with a static image of the Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (see image). Oh, well.
Errr...the pic is stupid for its cheap photo-shopping, lack of creativity and what I consider, a disrespect for soldiers of both nations. But how is the flag 'gravity defying'?

We should have seen the flag to the left of the pole and not the right. Never mind. A very stupid observation by me I guess.
But I felt very very disappointed and humiliated when I found out the original picture.
like: http://www.ne.se/iojima
The picture was of USMC who captured Iow Jima in 1945.
It is a glorious photograph and photo editing it only will be like offending the souls of the brave soldiers who died fighting.
I don't know if this is discussed earlier but I just wanted those unaware of this to know about the original photograph.
The chief of the Russian General Staff, Army Gen. Nikolai Makarov, will visit India on December 7-9 to discuss bilateral military cooperation, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.
Makarov will meet with his Indian counterpart Air Chief Marshal Pradeep Vasant Naik and other top military commanders.
forget tech jargon these sucker.s cant even get this right
^^
Chiru "Air Chief Marshal" is a legitimate and accepted term for an Air Marshal who is the Chief of air staff. Unles you are speaking of some other error in that report.
Are you referring to army chief meets air force chief and the use of the word "counterpart"?
shiv ji, seems like chiru thinks that the report mentions the ACM as a counterpart to makarov who is an army general.
the report is correct (but not clear enough) in that ACM Naik is the counterpart to Gen Makarov because just as makarov is the chief of general staff of ru armed forces (IOW CDS) ACM Naik is the chairman of the COSC.

Jan. 5: The failure of GSLV-f06A has delayed a revolutionary stride in space science, aimed at providing desi dishes to astronauts associated with the Chandrayaan-2 mission, India’s most awaited manned journey to the moon.
Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) and Defence Food Research Laboratory (DFRL) would have signed a MoU officially starting the space food program, if the GSLV launch had been successful. Before the GSLV launch, top Isro scientists had come to Mysore to meet DFRL food scientists, who gave them an elaborate presentation on the kind of foods identified for the moon mission, and the present status of available technology. The parent body DRDO also directed the pioneer defence lab to start work on upgrading technology. Now the food scientists are confused, as they are awaiting further directives.
Top DRDO sources told Deccan Chronicle that the failure of GSLV-f06 was unfortunate and unexpected. It would definitely delay the moon mission by a year, and projects like the DFRL food program. The GSLV project is crucial for the success of Chandrayaan-2, scheduled for 2013.
In a previous interview to this newspaper, Dr A.S. Bawa, director, DFRL, had said that food scientists, biochemists, and microbiologists, had already identified dishes that would make the astronaut scientists feel at home as they hurtled through space, in India’s first Lander/Rover space exploration.
However, reliable sources at Sriharikota Space Centre said that there was no flaw in the vehicle or the cryogenic engine.
A TOI Blooper again! A certain report about Para's buying new arms says
The latest weaponry to be inducted into the Army's seven Para-SF and three Para-SF (airborne) battalions, Navy's marine commandos and IAF's Garud force are 5.56mm TAR-21 Tavor assault rifles and 7.62mm Galil sniper rifles.
Aren't they all airborne? I believe that's the reason why they are called Para!
Sheopur/MP, Feb 4: Once again an Indian Air Force Helicopter crash hit the nation and this time the accident took place in Madhya Pradesh on Friday, Feb 4.

The light combat helicopter is a multi-role chopper being developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for use by the Indian Air Force and the Indian Army. The light combat helicopter is considered to be the world's smallest military aircraft with a single seat, and is among top eight aircraft in the world in technological design and performance terms.
We need to stop making too many Light Combat weapons. Its confusing our dear DDM.
