The threat to Pakistan’s donkey population

Pakistan is blessed with natural resources and immense biodiversity. However, institutional apathy and concern have led to Pakistan’s biodiversity and fauna and flora coming under increasing threat of extinction.

The present government did promulgate Pakistan’s first ever wild life policy in 2017, for which it deserves credit. By adopting this policy, Pakistan has joined a handful of countries in the South and East Asian regions that have similar legislation.

Despite this new policy, Pakistan’s biodiversity remains under threat. Domestic donkeys (Equus asinus) for instance, have witnessed a drastic fall in their numbers.

The global donkey population which numbers around 44 million is unfortunately facing a severe crisis, primarily because of the huge demand for their skins in China. The Karachi Police, for instance, recovered 4000 hides from the city, and claimed that these hides were to be exported to China.

China uses these donkey hides for preparing the traditional medicine ‘Eijao’. Donkey skin contains the product gelatin which is then used to make this medicine. Eijao is said to improve blood circulation, help patients with low blood cell count and reproductive problems, and is also used in preparing other food and drinks.

This has spurred a rapid rise in the demand for donkeys, and has resulted in a sharp increase in the stealing and execution of donkeys. In Egypt, for example, 10,000 donkeys were recently exported to China.

Considering the lucrative donkey market and the importance of donkeys for rural populations, it is essential that Pakistan’s government adopt holistic and responsible policies for their export and consumption. The provincial government in KP has taken the initiative in this regard through its ‘Donkey Development Program’ that aims to attract Chinese investors in the rearing of donkeys in the province.

The central premise behind the program is sound, but we must remain cognisant of how this program will impact local populations that rely extensively on donkeys for domestic and commercial purposes.

The Sindh government, moreover, can play a prominent role to ensure success in this area. In order to this, however, the provincial government must adopt a two-pronged approach that develops breeding and rearing zones in areas such as Tharparkar and Thana Ahmed Khan. Concomitantly, the government should also establish meat and hide processing units that allow producers to export donkey meat and skins abroad. The authorities must also ensure that producers and breeders follow stringent standards and regulations.

Such measures will ensure Pakistan benefits from the lucrative market in donkey exports, and will also guarantee that our local producers and populations are not adversely impacted by a rising decline in the donkey population.

PEREGRINE- JI :
Time for "donkey talk" once again . Not the "two -legged" variety common in Pakiland ( ) but the four -legged animal , that is a serious topic in BRF Forum , because of the " Chini- connection" . The Pakis ( and also the rest of the world !) need to protect their natural resources from the voracious Chinese , who it is claimed eat "anything" that walks - underground or overground - or fly or swims !!!. Donkey hides are exported by the Pakis . And the by-product -( Donkey Meat )is sold in the bazaars and shops of Pakiland masquerading as "beef" . All they need is a Fatwa from the Mullahs saying that Ghada- ka- gosht is halaal ( the FATWA will need to be approved by the Kaaba Imam though  ). Boost to the local economy, IMO, will be tremendous . No more health inspectors, no more raids and bribing of police etc . Surplus meat can also be exported to China under CPEC

In principle, it should be possible for them to ship their deceased to Toronto by road and then fly them on PIA. They should petition Trudeau to wave off border checks and probably even fund it.

Desecration And Exploitation Of Sacred Hindu Temple In Pakiland Goes Unabated

Katas Raj: Everything free for Pakistan’s ‘eco-terrorists’ at Kahoon Valley

Image
LAHORE – Although water scarcity is among the main problems being faced by many big cities of Pakistan, the residents of Chakwal’s Kahoon Valley have suffered the most at the hands of “eco-terrorists” in the South Asian country during the last decade. This would not have happened if the site was a disused Muslim site !
Excessive extraction of water by four cement factories around the historic Katas Raj temples – considered the second-most sacred worship place for Hindus – changed everything for the valley’s people a few years after establishment of cement factories in 2012. As said before, temples and gurdwaras are fair game in Pakistan. They are used as homes, shops, garages, godowns etc etc, so this is nothing new here :x
According to a Hindu legend, Lord Shiva cried on the death of his wife Sati and his tear formed Katas Raj pond. Temples of Shiva, Ram and Hanuman were built around this pond. Anything not related to Islam is no concern to the GOP. History either begins after Mohamed Bin Qasim landing in Sind, or after the birth of Pakiland (1947) !!!
Temples built at least more than a century ago are connected to one another by walkways. The name of the temple complex, located near Kallar Kahar, is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘kataksha’ which means ‘tearful eyes’ and every spring and autumn, Hindu pilgrims from Pakistan and India visit the pond to bathe and ‘wash off their sins’.
A Punjab government survey report states that the locals were using 50 cubic feet (about 374 gallons) every day while these four factories – DG Cement and Bestway Cement (plant 1, 2 and 3) – were extracting more than 150 cubic feet (about 1122 gallons). This caused a sudden drop in underground water level: first depleting the Shallow layer and then drying up the Deep layer. Experts say water depth in the area before setting up cement factories was 120 feet and now it is more than 400 feet. Anyone objecting to this desecration and exploitation of this Hindu holy site would be immediately labeled as an Indian Agent !
As the issue of water extraction by cement factories gained attention due to significance of natural spring for Hindus, the Punjab government started pumping water in the dried pond spreading over 2.5 kanals, with at least eight feet depth. But the area’s Hindu community is not happy as they believe that the place is sacred. Being a tiny and persecuted minority their views do not count !
“Excessive water extraction by cement factories has depleted the pond. This water is not pavitar (holy) for us as it is not coming out of springs and the pond is being filled through alternative source, nearby coal mine,” said Ravindar Kumar Chibbar, Member District Council who is a member of the only Hindu family living in Krriala, Chakwal.
“This is not tears of Shiva. We want concrete measures for revival of the pond to its original shape,” he added. Pakistan is bankrupt . If push comes to shove, it may beg for funds from foreign countries to restore the temple !
The area from Kallar Kahar to Choa Saida Shah, spanning over 27 kilometers, has a population of 350,000, mostly herders and cultivators. Coupled with poverty, the water scarcity has left people with no option except to purchase 1,000 gallons water tanker which cost Rs1,000 and only lasts for 2-3 days. People are also forced to buy wheat and milk as their pastures were encroached for quarrying and building access roads. Even drinking water is not available in the area. The general poverty of the area has no connection to the desecration of the sacred temple !
Justice Nisar, who said factory owners must have used influence to get permission to establish cement factories in the area, vowed to visit the factories himself to examine the situation regarding pollution caused by the factories. Another judge, during the hearing, noted that 2.5 million gallons of water were used by the factories every day. “Cement factories pulled out a sea from underground sources,” remarked Justice Ijazul Ahsan. Last year, the CJP stressed the need of protecting the temple which is “not just a place of cultural significance for the Hindu community, but also a part of our national heritage”. Empty and hollow words, until something concrete is  done

Deep State Is Serious About "Getting" Hussein Haqqani !

What US officials have told Pakistan over arrest of Hussain Haqqani?
May 2, 2018
ISLAMABAD - Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director General Bashir Memon informed the Supreme court today that he has contacted US officials regarding Hussain Haqqani arrest, adding that the Americans say "you too have our man", without explaining further.
The FIA chief stated further that he has shown US officials the warrants against Haqqani as well as informed them of the matter of Rs0.1 billion worth of alleged ( important word ! )misappropriation by him.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar has appointed noted international law expert and former federal law minister Ahmer Bilal Soofi as *amicus curiae *(friend of the court) in the Memogate case.
Hearing the case against Pakistan's former ambassador in the US, Husain Haqqani, in the Supreme Court today, the chief justice observed, "I have heard that the issuing of red warrants against Haqqani has been denied".
According to media reports, a recent statement by Interpol had said that "as of today [April 18, 2018], Husain Haqqani is not subject to an Interpol Blue Notice or diffusion and is not known in Interpol’s data basis” .
At the last hearing on March 28, the court had given the authorities a month to ensure Haqqani's return from the US.
Haqqani, who resides in the US, denies the charges and has termed the recent proceedings a 'political stunt'.

US diplomat released after brief detention over hitting bikers
ISLAMABAD: Another incident of hitting bikers occurred in Islamabad when a US diplomat’s vehicle struck a bike, injuring two persons late on Sunday. While police have released the diplomat from the Secretariat Police Station after a brief detention. As per details, US diplomat Chad Rex Ausburn, who struck bikers on Sunday night in a fresh incident, has been released from Secretariat Police Station after a brief detention.Soon after the accident, area police arrived at the scene and took US official into custody. Shortly after, several locals and foreigners arrived in the Police Station after that he was released. The injured were immediately were shifted to nearby medical facility where their condition is said to be stable. This is the forth road accident in recent years in which US diplomats have hit and killed or injured people in Islamabad.
Very interesting that the US doesn't think it necessary to hire local drivers to take people around. What will it cost? PKR20000/month? That would be a lot cheaper than any negative outcome of a diplomat hitting and killing people on the street.

Or maybe there is a trust issue here with local drivers.

Three Pakistani teenage prostitutes face trial in Dubai
DUBAI – Eight Pakistanis including a woman have gone on trial in Dubai Court for allegedly luring three Pakistani teenage girls and bringing them from Pakistan to the UAE to work as prostitutes. Abusing "Ummah hospitality" . No wonder, the Dubai Chief Of Police openly bad mouthed the whole of Pakiland and "advised" employers not to hire them anymore . !!!
The passports of Pakistani girls, all aged 17, were forged with fake ages; each came to the country through Dubai International Airport last year after being offered jobs by the Pakistani defendants, aged between 24 and 41.Dubai Police raided the brothel in Al Baraha on December 12 last year after receiving a tip-off that the defendants were exploiting underage girls. One of the girls told prosecutors that she was contacted by the woman defendant and her brother – one of the seven men – who offered her a job as a sex worker in Dubai. On her third visit in December last year, police raided the brothel where she worked and arrested them all, reported Khaleej Times. Not to worry. There is a "silver lining in the sky". A Paki Minister has promised that in a few years time, Gawadar is going to be "another Dubai" . The "girls" will not have to "export themselves". They can ply their trade locally . With the influx of Chinese workers, there is good market potential
As per Gulf state federal and sharia laws prostitution is illegal in UAE and Punishments can be severe including imprisonment and flogging. Pakistan practices "lite Sharia". Flogging is NOT ALLOWED !!

Study shows Modi is most popular leader on Facebook; Pakistani PM nowhere to be seen
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emerged as the most popular world leader on Facebook, with more than 43 million likes on his personal page and 13.9 million likes on his institutional Prime Minister of India page.
The Pakistani leaders have shown no interest in reaching out to people on the social media[/b] as their names were no where to be found in the study.
During Modi's stint, Pakistan saw two prime ministers at the helm of affairs, but none of them felt the need to use Facebook as a tool to communicate directly with the people.
Prime Minister of India has featured as the most liked leader on the Facebook, leaving behind US President Donald Trump.

IMF sees mounting risks, sharp drop in growth for Pakistan next year

WASHINGTON: The International Monetary Fund projected on Wednesday that Pakistan’s growth will moderate to 4.7 per cent in fiscal year 2019 from 5.6pc in 2018.

In its regional economic outlook update for the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan and Pakistan (MENAP) region on Wednesday, the IMF notes that “an increase in macroeconomic vulnerabilities and domestic policy slippages have weakened Pakistan’s economic outlook, with growth now projected to moderate to 4.7pc in FY19”.

In January, the IMF said it expected growth in Pakistan to pick up in 2018-19. The government has targeted 6.2pc growth for next year in its latest budget.

The report credits improved energy supply, investment related to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, and strong credit growth for the raise in Pakistan’s growth to an estimated 5.6pc in the outgoing FY18, from 5.3pc last year.

Editorial: Grim picture by IMF

The report, however, places Pakistan among the countries where “delays in implementation or completion of structural reforms and political and policy uncertainty” continue to weigh on growth. Besides Pakistan, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia and Lebanon are also placed in this category.

Pakistan is also placed among the countries where upcoming elections and a more challenging political environment could slow the reform process.

“A high perception of corruption and lack of transparency in some of these countries could not only affect macroeconomic outcomes directly, reducing investment and productivity, but could also heighten social tensions and hinder reform,” the IMF warns.

The report notes that some countries in the MENAP region are slowly taking steps to improve governance and transparency while additional efforts are also being made to bolster the business environment, with Pakistan recently strengthening its bankruptcy framework.

After three years of decline, exports of MENAP oil-importing countries grew by 6.4pc in 2017 and are projected to accelerate by 8.4pc in 2018 and 8.6pc in 2019.

In Pakistan, Egypt and Tunisia, this was largely due to improved external demand and greater exchange rate flexibility while Pakistan also benefited from a pickup in cotton prices.

Import growth in MENAP nations is projected to slow to 4.8pc in 2018 from 6.8pc in 2017 and remains broadly steady around 5.5pc over the medium term.

In Pakistan, Djibouti and Mauritania, this import compression “partly reflects an anticipated slowdown in capital imports for infrastructure projects”.

The IMF notes that public debt levels in non-oil producing MENAP countries remain elevated, exceeding 80pc of GDP in several nations.

“Such large debt stocks represent a significant burden on the economy. Debt service crowds out growth-enhancing expenditures,” the report adds with a warning that large debt stocks also add to external vulnerabilities given the large share of external debt.

“This burden will increase since financing costs are likely to rise in line with the expected tightening of monetary policy in advanced economies,” says the IMF, while urging borrowing nations to focus on efforts to reduce debt.

The IMF, however, points out that inflation pressure in the region has abated, with inflation broadly stable at about 12pc. In Pakistan and Morocco, decline in food prices helped bring the inflation down while in some countries monetary tightening also helped.

Read: If we knock on IMF’s doors

A review of the banking sector in MENAP countries shows that non-performing loans remain high but are declining. In most MENAP nations, banking sectors have generally remained stable, liquid, and adequately capitalised.

Pakistan, Egypt, Lebanon and Jordan are among the countries that are beginning to embrace financial technology to increase financial inclusion.

For enhancing resilience, Pakistan and Egypt are advised to enhance deposit insurance arrangements.

The IMF notes that tighter and more volatile global financial conditions could increase borrowing costs further for MENAP oil importers, adding to existing fiscal sustainability concerns, weighing on bank balance sheets, and undermining private sector activity. A 200-basis point increase in interest rates relative to the baseline would raise financing costs for Lebanon, Egypt, and Pakistan by 0.9, 0.8, and 0.7 percentage point of GDP, respectively.

“Tightening of global financial conditions could precipitate capital outflows from the region that would put pressure on external positions and exchange rates,” the report warns.

Over all, growth in the MENAP region is estimated to have reached 4.2pc in 2017 and is projected to increase further to 4.7pc this year and to 5pc on average during 2019–23. Some countries may experience faster growth.

Further strengthening of the outlook for the euro area will continue to support economic activity in MENAP through exports, remittances, foreign direct investment, and tourism.

Two dead in suicide attack on PAEC bus in Attock

ATTOCK: At least two people were martyred while several others were injured in a suicide bombing on a passenger bus carrying Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) employees in Attock on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased include an employee of the PAEC and a passerby — a first-year student — police officials said.

Initial reports suggest a man riding a motorcycle first opened fire on the bus carrying civilian personnel of the agency, before detonating his explosives, in the Dhok Gama area of the city. Security forces cordoned off the area immediately after the attack and initiated an investigation. Those injured in the bombing have been shifted to the district headquarters hospital where the condition of two is said to be critical, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Fakhar Sultan Raja said.

District Emergency Officer (DEO) Dr Ashfaq told reporters that the attacker had opened fire on the bus as it slowed down at a speed breaker on Basal Road. When the driver of the bus disembarked and attempted to get hold of the attacker, the latter blew himself up, killing himself, the driver and a passerby identified as Habibur Rehman.

The PAEC is an independent public sector organisation concerned with research, development and promotion of nuclear science and technology.

Our Government must provide 800% Moral and Diplomatic support to the freedom loving Pashtun / Pushtun / Pathan population suffering under the 700,000 strong Punjabi dominated Uniformed Jihadi occupation forces of the Mohammadden Terrorism Fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan by supplying 100, 000 Pashteen Hats free of cost to Afghan territories adjoining Afghan territories illegally occupied by the Mohammadden Terrorism Fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan. GOI should also ensure that all Pashteen hats so supplied will prominently have labels in Dari and Urdu stating that they have been made in India.

Chinese contractor of Neelam-Jhelum project recalls disasters that pushed project to brink

BEIJING: The recently inaugurated Neelam-Jhelum Hydropower project has experienced four major natural disasters during its construction in the past ten years, Feng Xinglong, Chairman of China’s Gezhouba Group said.

Feng, in an interview with Chinese website ‘Sina.com’ published on Wednesday, said each disaster had pushed the project to the brink of failure.

He said in 2010, a major flood in 100 years occurred in Pakistan, and facilities were destroyed in the entire tender area; in 2014, floods were re-emerged, and the stilling pools under construction were submerged; in 2014, water was poured through tunnels in river sections; and in 2015, a tunnel boring machine encountered a strong rock burst, resulting in buried equipment and extensive damage to parts.

Faced with the catastrophic situation, Chinese builders relied on their excellent skills and tenacious spirit, he added.

Feng said every time they successfully rescued the project from the brink of failure, especially after the extremely strong rock burst, Chinese technicians rapidly responded to the damaged equipment. The ground repairs were carried out and repair work was completed and excavation resumed in only seven months without affecting the quality of the project.

Had other foreign manufacturers been asked to replace all the damaged parts, only the parts procurement and shipping time cycle would be up to one year, and the cost would be high, he added.

Feng said it was the China Gezhouba Group, which was responsible for the construction of the Pakistan’s national hydropower project.

He said since the project was launched in January 2008, it had overcome one difficulty after another with decade-long technology, excellent skills, and unremitting persistence. Ultimately leading the “Three Gorges Project in Pakistan” ushered in today’s new glory, he added.

Feng said at the beginning of the project, Chinese employees interpreted the project’s initials NJ as “No Joke”. “It is the pride of China’s builders, who have succeeded in the project, and have not allowed it to fail, as well as serious and serious rigor,” he added.

He said in order to ensure the smooth progress of the project construction and benefit from the completion of the project, the company strived to achieve excellence in the selection of all equipment.

On the construction equipment, where the project site was located, where the “world’s top construction equipment exposition” was opened; on the permanent equipment, as the core of the hydropower station, the generator set selected the domestic top-level products, providing continuous and stable power generation after the completion of the power station.

With Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi personally pressing the unit start button in the control room, the first 243,000 kilowatts unit of the Neelum-Jhelum hydropower plant was officially put into commercial operation.

In his speech, the prime minister acknowledged the hard work of the Chinese builders that made the “impossible task” a success and became another important result of the cooperation between the two countries.

Although, the total installed capacity of 969,000 kilowatts, the Neelum-Jhelum hydropower station was of special significance to other power plants in Pakistan.

According to the news portal, geographically, the power plant was located on the upper stream of the Indus River, the Jhelum River. It was Pakistan’s first large-scale hydropower station built on the upper reaches of the Indus River.

The news portal said,“It is a unique case of the unique design of the long water diversion tunnel and underground powerhouse built and constructed in Pakistan. It has a small impact on the natural environment.

“The river has a low requirement for drop height, but with it, the difficulty of construction increases. The total length of the underground project is 68 kilometres, the maximum depth is close to two kilometres, and it passes through the large fault zone in the Himalayas.

It is these special features that allow Pakistanis to always have special feelings for the Neelum-Jhelum hydropower station, calling it “Pakistan’s Three Gorges Project.”

On the wall of the conference room of the Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project, there are several characters: “Open and inclusive, clear, honest, and enterprising.”

According to Feng, this was what the project builders had concluded in the past ten years. The spirit of the Neelum-Jhelum was based on this spirit. The builders had overcome challenges and difficulties one by one and stepped the project to success.

With the Gezhouba Group further deepening its efforts in the Pakistan hydropower sector, especially the construction of the Sukikinari and Dasu hydropower stations had been launched one after another.

This spirit from the “Three Gorges Project in Pakistan” would also be carried forward at more project sites to help the Pakistani government and the people had built more great hydropower projects that benefit the country and the people

Karachi Under Heat Attack !

Emergency declared in Karachi hospitals
3 May, 2018
KARACHI - Karachi is experiencing an intense heatwave in the city, as temperatures hit 43 degree Celsius. Authorities mention that the absence of sea breezes have contributed to the rise in temperatures as well. As yet, India or RAA have not been blamed for this !!!
The Sindh Government and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) have issued a “heat wave alert” citywide. All KMC hospitals, ambulance services are preparing themselves for patients who experience heat stroke in the days ahead. The "Holy Month of Ramzaan" this year is going to start on May 16. Tempers usually run high during the "said" month . As a "added bonus" , it is going to coincide load shedding, water shortage and of course the accursed "tandoor like heat " .
To make matters worse, scheduled loadshedding from Karachi Electric (KE) will add to the woes of the citizens. Paranoia confirmed !
Based on the Met department’s forecasts, Karachi started experiencing a heatwave since Thursday morning. After 12 pm, the heatwave reached its peak at 43 degree centigrade. To complicate matters further, the winds from the sea stopped, and dry and gusty winds started to surround the city. The so-called "loo" from the deserts of Sind and Balochistan :D
Seemi Jamali from Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Center told ProPakistani that in the current weather, people should not go out of office or home, and drink water ( if available !) whenever they can.
“People must adopt certain safety measures in order to avoid heat stroke. In case you start feeling hot and uncomfortable, you can take fruit juice, or cold water to stay hydrated. If you venture outside of your home or office, you must cover yourself from head to toe in order to avoid the intense heat,” Seemi added.

While Education Suffers From Lack Of Funds, Pakiland Trumpets Another Achievement In The Defence Sector

Pakistan Army unveils new weapon system equipped with night vision and thermal imaging fire power
May 3, 2018
RAWALPINDI - The Pakistan Army has taken yet another step towards the indigenous weapons production and has unveiled a new grenade launcher.Pakistan Army has started conducting trials on a domestically produced automatic grenade launcher (AGL).
Pictures posted on Twitter show Army personnel reportedly testing an indigenous PAK-40 Automatic Grenade Launcher. The weapon platform is reportedly capable of operating in temperatures ranging from 55C to -24C.Reports suggest the launcher has a range of 2,200 meters and weighs around 41 kilograms. The launcher can also be equipped with night vision or thermal sights. Not sure, if it is the usual "import, assemble and paint job " camouflaged as indigenous for Echendee purposes . In any case, education, health and welfare and other social sectors become collateral damage when such "zeal and pride" is announced for these "new toys"

4.50 Billion Rupees Doled Out To ISI For "Special Assignment" In Current Budget

Rabbani wants government ( not DG ISI  ) to explain payments made to ISI for 'special assignment'
Senator Raza Rabbani on Thursday demanded that the government explain in Senate in an in camera briefing why an unexplained, but significant sum of money was sanctioned for Inter Services Intelligence, as revealed in the federal budget for fiscal 2018-19. The 'demand for explanation", as usual will fall upon deaf ears
The ISI chief, according to the Miftah Ismail-announced budget, was reportedly given access to Rs4.5 billion for a "special assignment", which Rabbani wants more details about. "The DG ISI was given funds for a special assignment," Rabbani said during the Senate session on budget today. "When quizzed over this during a press conference, [the government] said such details cannot be disclosed in public. A "camera session" in private - away from the prying eyes of RAA agents- where some sort of BS will be fed to the Members of NA , and then the Members will be quite "happy" with the explanation , will of course be offered !
"We are not asking about other expenses but what do they mean by a 'special assignment'? This needs to be explained," he said. Might be some sort of a contingency fund - at the discretion of the DG, ISI , where Senior officers can draw funds - no questions asked !
Rabbani also took note of the marked increase in defence expenditure for the upcoming year, saying: "This government has blown the federation to smithereens. The defence budget was increased by 20 per cent on the federal government's recommendations. The veteran politico can "bark" as much as he wants . When it comes to fauji expenses, no Paki can dare challenge the allotment of funds for this dept
The former Senate chairman further complained that "there was neither a need for this budget nor a three-to-four-month budget, as the caretaker setup would have had the authority to take finance-related decisions."
Meanwhile, media persons present at the upper house to cover the session staged a boycott in protest over the police's violence against journalists earlier in the day.
How The Senator Dare Question The DG ISI To "Explain" !!!
Correction: This story initially incorrectly stated that Senator Rabbani had asked the DG ISI to explain the funds made available to him as revealed in the federal budget. The explanation was, in fact, sought from the government. The error is regretted.
PS: It is better to practice "self censorship" rather than publish a "humiliating correction"

Ganja 's Son-In-Law - Capt Safdar Who Is Also Well Known As An Extreme Ahmedi Hater Moves Resolution To Rename "Abdus Salam Center !

NA passes resolution to rename QAU's Abdus Salam Centre to al-Khazini Department
The National Assembly on Thursday passed a resolution to change the name of the National Centre for Physics at the Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) from the Professor Abdus Salam Centre for Physics to al-Khazini Department, after Byzantine-origin astronomer Abu al-Fath Abd al-Rahman Mansur al-Khazini.
The resolution was tabled by PML-N lawmaker Captain Muhammad Safdar, who is former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's son-in-law and aspiring PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz's husband.Nuclear physicist Abdus Salam hailed from the Ahmadi community, whose members constitute a minority in Pakistan. Its members have faced persecution and were declared non-Muslims through a constitutional amendment in 1974. Not sure if this "gimmick" will help him secure his seat in the coming election
The physics centre had been named after Abdus Salam in December 2016 following the approval of then prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who had also approved a grant for five annual fellowships for Pakistani PhD students. The fellowship programme was called the Professor Abdus Salam Fellowship. It is unclear whether its renaming is also on the PML-N's agenda. Maybe, this will prompt him to tighten the screws further in the coffin of the "poor" Ahmedis - who by the way were in the forefront for the struggle for Pakistan before 1947 . Wonder if Safdar and the Mullahs are aware of this fact

After Jallianwala Bagh Akal Takht Jathedar Gave Siropa to O’Dwyer (Evidence)
Daily Sikh Updates
| 14 March, 2015 at 14:08

Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib Giani Arur Singh had presented General Michael O’Dwyer with a siropa at Sri Akal Takht Sahib, the man responsible for Jallianwala Bagh on April 13, 1919. The traiter Giani Arur Singh not only presented the butcher of Sikhs a Siropa, but also gave a turban and a kirpan.

This was the conversation the two had after presenting the general with a Siropa. (This account is confirmed by General O’Dwyer’s wife who recounted it when he told her about it)

In a controversial move, the manager of the Golden Temple, Arur Singh , paid homage to Dyer soon after. Here is what the general’s biographer, Ian Colvin, says of the matter:

‘When he [General Dyer] returned to Amritsar, he and his Brigade-Major, Captain Briggs, were summoned to the Golden Temple, and found themselves in the presence of the chief priests and leaders of the sect.

‘”Sahib,” they said, “you must become a Sikh even as Nikalseyn Sahib (General Nicholson of Mutiny fame) became a Sikh.”

‘The General thanked them for the honour, but he objected that he could not as a British officer let his hair grow long. Arur Singh laughed. “We will let you off the long hair,” he said. General Dyer offered another objection, “But I cannot give up smoking.” “That you must do,” said Arur Singh. “No,” said the General, “I am very sorry, but I cannot give up smoking.” The priest conceded, “We will let you give it up gradually.” “That I promise you,” said the General, “at the rate of one cigarette a year.”

‘The Sikhs, chuckling, proceeded with the initiation. General Dyer and Captain Briggs were invested with the five kakas, the sacred emblems of that war-like brotherhood, and so became Sikhs.‘
Source: GT1588

The surprising this is that Jathedar Arur Singh was actually the grandfather of Simranjit Singh Mann. However, Simranjit Singh Mann had apologized for the act in 2002 and stated, “seeking apology would give peace to his nana’s soul.”

--------------------------

Sundar Singh Majithia (founder of The Tribune, Dyal Singh colleges all over North India) was head of Chief Khalsa Diwan when he invited Dyer (after Jalianwala massacre) and gave him Siropa (honor). He was a philanthropist and was interested in more peaceful things like girl education, newspapers, etc. Some even claim that governor of Punjab arm twisted him (shutting down colleges, etc) to present Siropa to Dyer.

Giani Arur Singh was maternal grandfather of Simranjit Singh Maan and was head of Akal Takth (Jathedar) and thus he became a head to represent sikhs.

Sahib Bahadur Sobha Singh the contractor for the creation of New Delhi was sitting in the parliament building when Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Butkeshwar Dutt exploded a fire cracker and raised Inquilaab Zindabad slogans before being arrested. Sobha singh then identified the Shaheed at a trial., it was his witness that got Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Dutt convicted.

Lieutenant Governor of the Punjab in India from 1912 until 1919
Both Lieutenant Governor of punjab named Michael o Dwyer and Colonel Reginald Dyer (the one who ordered to fire) were given siropa's

Looks Like That Massa Is Backing Down From Its Earlier Threat To Put Travel Restrictions On Paki Diplomutts :D

US postpones imposition of travel restrictions on Pakistani diplomats
ISLAMABAD: Washington has delayed imposing travel restrictions — expected to take effect from May 1 — on Pakistan envoys at its embassy and consulates in the US. Neither Pakistan's Foreign Office or the US State Department has issued a statement on the decision, however the delay signals that both sides are making efforts to settle their differences. Widespread reports suggest that the US has deferred the action till mid-May to assess how bilateral issues pan out. Pakistan conveyed its reservations to Alice G. Wells, visiting principal US deputy assistant secretary for South and Central Asia, last week. It said the “reciprocal” travel restrictions would be damaging to Pakistan’s image.
It has been proven time and again, that the "Echendee factor" is very very important when countries are dealing with Pakiland !
“Both governments have to review this very carefully because this negatively impacts long-standing relations,” former diplomat Javed Hafiz told Arab News.
He said that Pakistan and the US had mostly enjoyed good relations, but there was a downward trajectory from 2011 after the raid that killed Osama bin Laden, and the situation further deteriorated after the unveiling of Trump’s South Asia policy last August. “The basic duty and function of a diplomat is to promote relations in any area of cooperation,” Hafiz said. The Army and the Deep State have often used the "anti-US sentiments " to rouse the Abduls and stir them towards a desired policy end. And at the same time, beg for US Aid !
US officials have long voiced their frustration about Islamabad’s travel restrictions on serving diplomats at the US Embassy and consulates, a State Department source told Arab News. The restrictions stem from a growing trust deficit and a number of past incidents including the US Navy SEAL raid in 2011 that killed Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad without Pakistan’s knowledge. The Paki, at least IMO, hold a few good cards such as their decision to stop the flow of US men and material to Afghanistan- a land locked country.

Some will recollect that the Mohammadden Terrorism Fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan on a projecting soft image public relations exercise to gull Kaafir Dhimmi Non Mohammaddens last year (Jan 2017) by the then Nawaz Sharif administration changed the name of the Islamic Republic’s National Centre of Physics to that of Noble Laureate Abdus Salaam who belonged to the much oppressed minority Ahmadi aka Ahmadiyya sect of Mohammaddenism.

The Mohammadden Terrorism Fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan seems to have now concluded that a projecting soft image public relations exercise to gull Kaafir Dhimmi Non Mohammaddens by renaming Physics Centres after a member of the oppressed minority Ahamadi aka Ahamidiyya sect of Mohammaddenism is not required. Either that or a move to stave of the possibility of being Qadrified by reversing the Bull Cutleting aka Wajib Ul Qatl prospects. Accordingly Nawaz Sharif’s son-in-law Captain Safdar aka Capt. Muhammad Safdar Awan (Retd) has proposed renaming the Abdus Salam Center for Physics to the pure, pious and even more halal name from a Sunni Mohammadden perspective, to that of Abu al Fatah Abdul Rahman Al-Khazini Centre of Physics :rotfl: .

Meanwhile back here at home in India, it is revealed that the portrait of the Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the Mohammadden supremacist bigot who tore India asunder and spawned a nation that has attempted to harm India for some 70 years, is being displayed at the Student Union hall of Aligarh Muslim University. (Jinnah portrait row: Situation at AMU 'under control'). Naturally I expect that the pseudo-seculars will show solidarity with the {likely} Mohammadden dominated Student Union of Aligarh Muslim University and do an equal=equal while bemoaning
imposition of a rigid, monolithic and majoritarian view of nationalism etc.

National Centre for Physics renamed as 'Abdus Salam Center for Physics'[/url]
Web Desk
January 3, 2017

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Tuesday approved a summary forwarded by the government to rename National Physics Centre in Quaid-e-Azam University as Prof Abdus Salam Centre for Physics, according to reports.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif gave his approval to rename the center after Dr Salam, the first Pakistani and the first Muslim to be awarded the Nobel Prize in sciences.

Last month, the Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Education to send the summary seeking to change the name of the National Physics Centre to Dr. Abdus Salam Centre for Physics, for approval to the President of Pakistan.

The Prime Minister made the decision keeping in mind Dr Abdus Salam's achievements in the field of Physics. In 1979, Dr Abdus Salam won the Nobel Prize in Physics for Pakistan.

Rs.4.50 Billion For "ISI Special Assignment" Plus Unlimited Funds For Development Of Automatic Grenade Launcher In Current Budget. But No Zakat Funds For Poor Patients At The Pakistan Institute Of Medical Sciences

No free medicines at PIMS due to lack of Zakat funds
36 mins ago BY Hamid Khan Wazir
Patients at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) are running from pillar to posts to get registered to receive free medication since the government could not release the Zakat funds for the last 10 months. Most likely , the funds "earmarked' for this purpose are probably spent somewhere else . The allotment is on paper onlee . Monies do not exist in the bank, so a transfer to PIMS is not possible
A senior Social Welfare Department official told Pakistan Today that the PIMS has not received any fund under head of Zakat due to which the patients bore the brunt. The record of the patients registered for the Zakat fund is looked after by the Social Welfare Department of the hospital.
The official said that the government apathy towards health sector could be judged from the fact that PIMS could not receive the Zakat funds for the last 10 months and no one was here to talk on the issue. He said that the PIMS was getting Rs 20 million annually under the Zakat fund in two installments for over 13,000 patients. There is always the possibility that indeed the funds were received but were misappropriated !
Due to non-release of the funds, the hospital administration could not extend financial support to the patients. “We are trying our best to adjust poor patients through Baitul Mal, but it is not possible to accommodate all the patients; hence it is necessary the government should release the Zakat funds forthwith to ease the woes of the patients,” a senior official said. It seems that the nominal govt of Pakiland is helpless in this matter . Health and welfare, education and science - these are areas in which the govt has "washed off its hands" and the functions have been outsourced to foreign govts or foreign NGOs whenever possible or just plain neglected as it appears in this case !
He said that a patient registered for the treatment under the Zakat fund was entitled for Rs 3,000 for indoor treatment and Rs2,000 for the OPD, but due to influx of the patients, it is next to impossible to give everyone the required quantity of the medicines. Hence the hospital has to cut quantity of the medicine in order to avoid shortage to accommodate maximum number of the patients, he said. Maybe, someone reading this may announce a private donation ( and make good on the promise ) to ease matters and gain some "sawab" in the upcoming Holy Month !
However, it was quite shocking that the hospital management never approached CADD Ministry and the district administration for the Zakat fund. PIMS Executive Director Dr Raja Amjid Mahmood was unaware of any such development and refused to accept that the hospital was providing free treatment to the poor patients through the Baitul Mal. Neglect of duty ? drinking at the public trough ? Who knows what is the real situation ! A "ripe" case to handle for publicity hungry Suo Moto Nisar
However, when he was asked to check whether the hospital being provided the Zakat fund, he accepted after confirmation that his institution did not get the funds under the head of the Zakat.
When this scribe approached CADD Secretary Azhar Chaudhry for comments, he replied, “I am on leave. Mr Gulzar Shah or Alamgir Khan would be in a better position to update you.” Despite repeated attempts, CADD Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Joint Secretary for Health Gulzar Shah could not be reached for their comments on the issue. Sad to see, funds for "guns" but no money for "butter". Someone should bring this to the attention of Nisar Saquib ASAP

Ganja Vents His Anger Against The Deep State In This Rant !

One institution has taken control of entire state, Nawaz claims
ISLAMABAD: Continuing his tirade against ‘those’ who have removed him from power, deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday alleged that democracy and the press in the country is being “strangled by invisible forces”.Addressing the media outside the accountability court conducting corruption proceedings against the Sharif family, the former PM said that a state stands on three pillars, however, a single pillar has taken control of the entire state. He added that the PML-N is not competing with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) or Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the upcoming general elections, but with other ‘forces’. There are rumours which say that Adiala ( jail) is being "prepared" for Nawaz !
He went on to claim that “invisible forces” are busy working on installing a parliament of their choice. “The present times are not an era of the Mughal kingdom, when all power wrested in one hand,” he asserted, while questioning where the writ of the parliament and government has gone. “Aliens are no more as effective [as they used to be],” he said, adding that he had the support of the people.( Sorry to say, but when wielding power, Ganja himself behaved like a Moghal Badshah, doling out BMWs to his favorites and requisitioning PIA planes to fly to Saudia or USA for family weddings , not to speak of having a "private zoo" at his Jati Umra Estate . ! Someone should check his, Imran's and Zardari's National Assembly attendance records to check how serious they were taking their jobs as politicians  ) and not as a democratic PM. Someon
On the other hand, Maryam Nawaz on Thursday said that they will defeat invisible forces forever in the upcoming general elections 2018.“Reality cannot be denied by closing eyes like pigeons,” she said while talking to media outside Accountability Court.
