What Aussies needed today was a Priest, not just Ponting. Seriously, Did he really expect 30 overs of spin by Kresza, david hussey or some blond dude can take Indian wickets?. I have followed Aussie cricket and have never ever seen so many wides and no balls. Its crap bowling against the best batting line up.They never stood a chance. India could have finished the match by 40th over had Yuvi taken the "risk" which was unnecessary anyways. He could have simply destroyed the spin bowlers if he wanted to.

I am very eager to see Yuvraj smashing the terrorist captain all over Mohali. Time to put Afridi in his place.
There is a IAF base nearby Mohali right?

I think he was taking a dig at 26/11, plain and straight.

he said something like 'pakis have something for mumbai, they like coming there whenever they get a chance so that will be an added motivation'.

I'm pretty sure, knowing his style of understated comments over the years.

JEM, please, he had one bad shot. some worthies like ian chappel was saying 'India have one too many grafters in gambhir and kohli, they should drop gambhir'. some BRFite was echoing his 'wisdom' exitedly.

I'm thankful we didn't listen to genius ideas like that. the batting is more or less settled now, I would play sree in stead of munna against the bakpakis, assuming he is in a normal state of mind.

If Sehwag is indeed injured then get Pathan in.

Also, I seriously want Munaf to be replaced by Pranthan. Pranthan can extract some swing/rev swing, fields better and has some attitude unlike Munaf dadaji!

Rahul, man, I think Virat is good... but I have a feeling he is entering an "out of form" phase... As for Gambhir, well, the man made 50 sure.. .but wtf got into him today, not once, or twice, but three times a suicidal run attempt and of course they got him third time!!! Normally the guy is as stable as anything... anyway, let's see. Seriously, don't know who to kick out - I just want pathan in against the Paks (I get a gut feeling his blood will be up against them), and don't care if pranthan is out or in - but it seems easier to shift bowlers rather than batsmen going by current form...

JEM, hardly off form, he looked in good touch today until he got out. he and GG both avg shade under 40 at a SR of 87 in this WC, that's bloody good from your # 3 and 4.

these are kohli's scores 24, 59, 1, 12, 34, 8, 100*
2 of these came at lower down the order trying to hit out in the slog overs. and there's his fielding that saves 10-15 runs each match.
as for GG's RTW, we all have our bad days. ;)
even he has 3 50's this WC. the scores go like 39, 51, 10, 28, 69, 22, 50

Come to think of it, we don't need big hitters for the paki semifinal. They have 2 spinners in hafeez and afridi who can bowl twenty overs during the middle. We need players like GG and Kohli who can rotate the strike without any fuss like today. Raina, Yuvraj and dhoni are enough to do the big hitting down the order apart from what srt and sehwag can provide at the top. I wouldn't bring in pathan. Pranthan is a big q though. I just cant stand munna. He was the only bowler with rr > 6 today.

Only one change in this lineup required against TSP. Bring in bowling mahdi SS in munna's place.

Sachin Tendulkar's 100th ton in final at Wankhede?
Does ICC chief Haroon Lorgat know something that the world doesn't? Or does he have a great crystal ball that allows him to have a dekko at the future. When questioned about the wisdom of staging the World Cup final in Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium, which has a reduced capacity of 33,442, Lorgat defended the ICC's decision, saying, "You know you have got choices to make.
"Can you imagine a (more) fairytale ending with Sachin Tendulkar getting a hundred in the final and India winning at the Wankhede which is his home ground? And no matter what the number (of seats), we do not have sufficient tickets, "Lorgat said while addressing a press conference in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.

TSP have never won amatch against India in the world cups. My theory is that they always have huge pressure from mango abduls because of the ummah angle in a match this big. They have this extra baggage which makes them panic. We will see this in Mohali also.

Yeah..they collapse in batting. But they have a better chance of defending 250 than scoring 250. They have a in-form quickie and spinner. And we do have a few spectacular collapses chasing scores (the chennai test match, and some other match when Afridi bowled us out from a comfortable place, the Aaqib Javid bursts of wickets in Sharjah etc). The 2003 WC match put a stop to that, but my dhoti is not showing it, but I do have some slight shivering...

Mahul_R-ul-bredatori, methinks Pranthan in a completely retarded state of mind is still better than munna. We just cannot have munna leaking runs and dropping catches against the Pakis. It will prove very very costly for us. I hope Dhoni realises this quickly.

But for now I have discarded my soiled dhoti and put on a new lungi for the lungi dance! Winning against white pakis feels almost as good as winning against the real ones.

Lee got hit above his right eye when he dived to stop the ball near the boundary. The ball hit him and it went over the boundary too. Poor guy, he bled for his country.

Got a bad bounce while giving his 100% sliding to save a boundry for his country. Sometimes I feel he isn't fit to be a WP

Agree. Lee is a legend. fact that he came back again within 2 overs and bowled his heart out deserves respect. Munna Patel should learn something.

PS: My apologies.

well I won't as far as that. 50 off 5 overs against BD (getting thrashed by imrul kayes, ODI SR all of 65, how many have even heard of this guy ?? that's a 'suicide by drowning in spit' worthy achievement for a fast bowler) is hard to beat.
sree might not look as ungainly on the field as munna but he isn't a much better fielder either, he is lost in thought most of the time during fielding. on his day though, he is as good as steyn. point is we don't know which sree will turn up on match day, that's the gamble a captain might not be willing to take.
O praveen kumar, where art thou ?? :(
