http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/new ... 549216.cmsNEW DELHI: The Centre on Wednesday sounded an alert about a plan by a leader of the outlawed fundamentalist outfit Students Islamic Movement of India to target Salman Rushdie if the controversial author goes ahead with his plan to attend the Jaipur Literature Festival.
The alert, addressed to government of Rajasthan and authorities in Delhi -- Rushdie's likely disembarkation point in case he chooses to defy the threats -- also underlined the plan of Mumbai-based Raza Academy to humiliate the celebrated author. According to the home ministry, Saeed Noorie, general secretary of the Academy, has announced a "reward" of Rs 1 lakh to anyone who hurls a slipper at Rushdie.
Home ministry claimed that SIMI leader Saquib Nachan, who is one of the accused in the 2003 Mulund blast case in Mumbai, was "exploring the option of targeting Rushdie during his visit". Nachan, a familiar figure for counter-terror agencies, has been on bail since January 2011.
Citing the threats, the Centre has asked both Rajasthan and Delhi to "make adequate security arrangements to ensure protection to Rushdie and for maintaining peace and communal harmony".
Meanwhile, Rajasthan government, wary of being accused of caving in to protests, appeared to be ramping up the pressure on the organizers to keep Rushdie away from the literary festival. "I am sure the organizers will respect the sentiments of the local people," chief minister Ashok Gehlot said.
In fact, Gehlot, who discussed the issue with home minister P Chidambaram on Tuesday, appeared to put the onus of warding off the threat of violence on the organizers of the festival even as he hailed the event as a "matter of pride" for Jaipur. "Organisers should themselves step forward to ensure that things don't come to such a pass where there is a law and order situation. Government wishes that no such eventuality arises," the CM said in Jaipur.
Rajasthan government has so far walked a tightrope between nudging the organizers to cajole Rushdie into dropping his plans for India and not appearing to be giving into pressure from the protesters lest it is accused of "appeasement".
Gehlot's remarks, however, pointed to an anxiety to achieve a swift closure on the matter.
Organizers who had on Tuesday said that Rushdie would not attend the inaugural event on Friday as planned kept quiet on Wednesday even as "will he, won't he" speculation persisted with greater intensity. The advisory issued by the home ministry was premised on the information the government had received from the organizers about Rushdie's plan to touch down at New Delhi on Thursday.
Established in 1978 by Noorie and others, Raza Academy was set up for educational awareness among minorities, for raising voice against the atrocities on minorities and for all minority related matters.

For the past six weeks, an obscure Darbhanga-based leather-business owner has been at the heart of India's hunt for the men who planted three improvised explosive devices that went off in a crowded Mumbai marketplace last summer, killing 26 and injuring at least 130.
Naquee Ahmad has helped the Intelligence Bureau and the Delhi Police build images of the two Pakistani nationals suspected to have planted the bombs, and sat with under-cover detectives staking out the apartment they last used.
For his contributions, Mr. Ahmad has been rewarded with arrest on charges of obtaining a mobile phone subscriber identity card using fake documents — a case a top Mumbai Police official told The Hindu was “totally without merit.” His brother Rafi Ahmad has also been detained; their youngest sibling, Taquee, was questioned on Wednesday.
Mr. Ahmad's surreal fate, the outcome of a feud pitting Maharashtra's élite anti-terrorism unit, the ATS, against the Delhi Police and the Intelligence Bureau, demonstrates how India's national security effort is still mired in incompetence — three years after the tragic events of 26/11.

Which party could that be? BJP unlikely. Congress is the only option left.

Godhra municipality seems to be a peculiarity. For example, in 2010 municipal elections, congress did not even contest even though it contested ALL (well I did not actually search) other municipalities. And the independents won in a scale (23 out of 41) disproportional to other municipalities.
http://sec.gujarat.gov.in/mun-ele-oct-2 ... htm#Godhra
Without having direct information on the 1995 and 2000 elections, if we just extrapolate what happened in 2010 to those elections, clearly many of the independents are just proxies to congress. Many of the independents might be independent in name but they have definite congress support.
the only sources for 1995/2000 result as of now are tehelka, dawn, counter currents, all known agents of a particular inclination and I personally dont trust them even ONE bit.
So if the record says haji bilal was independent, that does not preclude congress support to him or even his later joining congress.

India, Trinidad and Tobago PMs served lunch by unlicensed firm
easy way to create kill important GOI figures due to lax security.
will heads roll.
It was a feast fit for kings. And two Prime Ministers - Manmohan Singh and Kamla Persad-Bissessar of Trinidad and Tobago - were among the guests who enjoyed the hearty meal during the just concluded Pravasi Bharatiya conference in Jaipur.
Now it has emerged that the catering firm - Sky Feast - has no food licence, a mandatory requirement under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
Sky Feast claims to be an in-flight catering firm based in Jaipur.
Interestingly, the state health department had deputed two food inspectors to check the food supplied for the two PMs. It now appears that they cleared the food without bothering to check whether the firm had the clearance to supply it.
The firm is in the catering business since 2008 and its clients include three airlines, including budget carriers SpiceJet and IndiGo. Neither Sky Feast bothered to get the mandatory food licence, nor did the state agency authorised to issue such a certificate and monitor the food of hotels and caterers verify it. Even Air India, which awarded the contract to Sky Feast, failed to check whether the firm had a food licence.
This is a major security issue. shocking that they did not have license, no verification done and food served to the PMs.Gopal Singh, the owner of Sky Feast, said he had tried to obtain a licence from the Jaipur Municipal Corporation as early as 2008, but repeated follow-ups with the civic body and the health department didn't yield any response.
He has lodged a complaint with the CMHO against a food inspector who had demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 for letting him cater without a licence. "Yes, we had supplied breakfast and lunch for the PM and many others," he added.
The CMHO, confirming Sky Feast's complaint, said action would be taken against the firm after a thorough probe.

Re: Internal Security Watch
Indian fake currency trail gets hotter
economic warfare.
De La Rue produces more than 125 currencies around the world.
Truly europe/khanate controls the world without waging physical war.
For a few years after Partition, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) was the common authority for India and Pakistan until 30th September 1948.
Soon afterwards, to print Pakistani currency independently of India, Pakistan contracted with British companies – mainly, Thomas De La Rue & Company.
This name, De La Rue, rings a bell. A loud bell.
Now De La Rue is the same company that supplies currency paper to RBI also for Indian currency notes. Curiously, the specific paper that RBI uniquely specified also landed up in the hands of Pakistani counterfeiters, who have released fake currency worth hundreds of crores.
To an emerging Pakistan in 1956, after a 9 year struggle to write a constitution, when confronted with news that its economy was threatened by fake currency from its estranged neighbour, India, was confirmation of its worst fears. After the 1949 British devaluation of the pound, the Pakistani rupee (like the Indian rupee), was overvalued. To overcome the hawala and smuggling threats to the Pakistani economy, Pakistan introduced a special currency – the Haj Notes. The counterfeit currency problem (reportedly centered in Kolkatta) added to Pakistani woes.
Some 50 years later, India, an emerging economy, making its mark on the world in the 2000-2010, discovered that Pakistan was counterfeiting Indian currency.
The common factor between the 1956 Pakistani problem of counterfeit currency – and in India now, is the De La Rue company.
Currency paper technology is not available off-the-shelf – or the kind of paper that any one can buy from the corner stationery shop or the local paper mill. India did not have the paper technology in 1956, and Pakistan does not have the technology today to make counterfeit currency.
There are roughly about 12 companies, mostly European, in the world that dominate the security printing business – and these are monopoly businesses. These companies work closely with their respective parent governments – and clients governments.
Gaddafi’s regime was starved of currency notes, before his downfall. He could not pay his soldiers. Robert Mugabe’s regime has been without a national currency, due to sanctions imposed by the German government on the German company, Giesecke & Devrient. When the German company resisted sanctions against Mugabe, the Anglo-Saxon press, started a smear campaign against the German company. There have been thin reports about Jura JSP, an Austrian company, replacing the German company, which may help Zimbabwe to tide over the currency crisis.
All the while, some British companies are keep a hold over some critical Zimbabwe assets..
The De La Rue scandal
In 2010-2011, RBI which imports 95% of its security paper requirements, did not invite De La Rue for negotiations.
Why? RBI is not saying anything.
RBI in most years was a huge chunk of De La Rue’s business – and in most years, about 25% of De La Rue’s profits.
What is De La Rue saying about loss of RBI business?
Nothing except, that it has sacked its CEO – John Hussey, a De La Rue veteran of 27 years. De La Rue’s French rival, François-Charles Oberthur Fiduciaire, or simply Oberthur Technologies, promptly picked up Hussey as an ‘advisor.’
Shortly after that, De La Rue also confirmed that the British Serious Fraud Office (SFO) had been called in – and two other senior executives, Mark Jeffery (Director – Manufacturing) and Jonathan Garside (Director –Sales), also resigned.
So, what happened?
The paper that RBI specified is not the paper that De La Rue supplied. De La Rue wrongly self-certified this inappropriate quality paper, to be as per RBI specs.
This was not an accident – or an aberration? 1956 in Pakistan; and in 2006, in India. John Hussey, the previous CEO of De La Rue, instead of hiding his face in disgrace, has joined French company as a valuable ‘advisor.’
Obviously De La Rue is protected.
Who is protecting De La Rue?
economic warfare.
De La Rue produces more than 125 currencies around the world.
Truly europe/khanate controls the world without waging physical war.

You can read the Supreme Court judgment here (PDF 300K)sum wrote:Delhi blast case: Supreme Court quashes death sentence awarded to Pakistani
Though the Bench, comprising Justices H.L. Dattu and C.K. Prasad, set aside the Delhi High Court judgment, the judges gave a split verdict in the case. Justice Dattu ordered a fresh trial, holding that the trial was vitiated as the appellant was not provided with counsel to defend himself properly, while Justice Prasad held that the trial was illegal and directed him to be set at liberty and ordered his deportation.![]()
Justice Dattu said: “I direct the trial court to conclude the trial as expeditiously as possible at any rate within an outer limit of three months from the date of communication of this order and report the same to this Court.”
Justice Prasad said: “The appellant must be seeing the hangman's noose in his dreams and dying every moment while awake from the day he was awarded the sentence of death, more than seven years ago. The right to speedy trial is a fundamental right and though a rigid time limit is not countenanced, in the facts of the present case, I am of the opinion that after such a distance of time it shall be a travesty of justice to direct de novo trial.”

This is truely a strange country... A Paki comes to India, kills 5 people in a bomb blast and the judge says that he should be set free since he feels trial was unfair and doesnt go with Indian ethos??

It would have been more fun, if some girl would have slapped with chappal for seeing their faces without burkha or worst filing a molestation case.Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh appeared distraught in the television clip from Azamgarh the other day when he found out that words that he had uttered two years ago had led to Mr Rahul Gandhi’s effigy being burnt in the latter’s presence. Reports say that Mr Gandhi had to seek cover in a college hostel after the Muslim youth he had sought to placate had turned against him. “Only the girl students were allowed to meet Mr Gandhi”, the reports underlined.
But the story does not end with the burning of Mr Gandhi’s effigy or with Mr Singh’s attack on the Government’s leadership. There is more. The demand is no longer for a judicial inquiry into the Batla House incident; the Ulema Council now insists on an investigation by a Maulana into the episode.
Perhaps, we should never have expected the Congress to realise that, what is happening in the name of minorities is that Indian society is being fractured. Union Minister for Home Affairs P Chidambaram himself admits that home-grown terror outfits like the Indian Mujahideen are on the rise — that is, terrorists now have a base in India even though money and guidance may come from across the border.
In the run-up to the Assembly election in Uttar Pradesh, the Election Commission has admitted that hawala money is pouring in from Nepal. This comes at a time when the Union Government has admitted that counterfeit currency printed in Pakistan is infiltrating India to destabilise the economy.

Perumbavoor limps back to normalcy
PERUMBAVOORA: The town and nearby areas, where tension prevailed on Tuesday in connection with the slaughtering of a cow in a compound in front of a temple, limped back to normalcy on Wednesday. Police officers, including Ernakulam Rural SP K P Philip and Dy SPs A Anilkumar and Harikrishnan, camped in the area and monitored the developments.
Meanwhile, the police thwarted attempts to take out a protest rally from the temple premises. The police had to chase away the mob which tried to hold protest demonstrations in various areas.
“Police pickets were strengthened in sensitive areas. No untoward incident has been reported yet,” the SP said. The police charged cases against the three who slaughtered the cow for promoting enmity between two groups on the ground of religion, criminal conspiracy and killing of cattle under IPC Sections 153 A, 120 B and 429. They have been remanded in judicial custody.
Meanwhile, a veterinary surgeon examined the carcass of the cow. The internal organs and intestine fluids of the cow were collected and sent for chemical examination and to ascertain whether the cattle was poisoned. District Collector P I Sheik Pareed convened an all-party peace meeting to sort out the issues and put an end to the tension.

Cow slaughtered inside Kerala temple compound
19/01/2012 01:27:05 PNS - Kochi
Tension prevailed on Wednesday in Perumbavoor, a satellite town of Kochi city, and surrounding areas following the sacrilegious act of slaughtering a pregnant cow inside the compound of the famous Sree Dharma Sastha temple there by three persons belonging to the Muslim community late Tuesday afternoon.
Three taluks of Ernakulam district – Muvattupuzha, Kunnathunadu and Kothamangalam – observed a dawn-to-dusk shutdown on Wednesday as per a call given by Hindu organizations and Sangh Pariwar outfits to protest against the gruesome slaughter of the pregnant cow by slitting the throat.
The shutdown affected normal life in all the three taluks. Incidents of mild stone-pelting were reported from some places. The police had on Tuesday itself taken three persons – Muhammad (49), his son Anas (23) and Razid (18) – into custody in connection with the cow-slaughter. One person managed to flee the scene.
The police registered cases against the three Muslims under Section 120b (criminal conspiracy) and 153 A (inciting enmity between groups) of the IPC, police sources said. Investigations were on to find out if they deliberately wanted to create trouble, they added.
A member of the Sree Dharma Sastha temple committee expressed suspicion that the slaughter was perhaps not meant for meat but to stir up tension. “If they wanted the cow for meat they could have simply stolen it. That they committed the heinous act right in front of the temple has only one explanation – their intention was perhaps to create trouble,” he said.
As per police reports, Perumbavoor and the surrounding areas have witnessed a rise in Islamist operations recently. The place is just 25 km away from Muvattupuzha, where activists of Islamist organization Popular Front of India had cut off the right hand of a college professor on July 4, 2010 alleging that he had blasphemed Prophet Muhammad through a test paper for students.
The sacrilegious act of cow-slaughter took place late Tuesday afternoon after the three Muslims reached the temple compound pretending that they wanted to give medicine to the cow which had developed some health problems two days ago. The cow had wandered into the temple area about two weeks ago.
The three men then put up a screen in the temple compound (to conceal the slaughter from the people) with plastic sheets brought from a nearby building and slit the throat of the cow after one of them, a Moulvi from a nearby village, said the prayers which was mandatory as per customs of the community...

This is an old use of certain parts of the Hidaya [sharia]. Among the several ways in which land can be halalled for Islamic use and possession is the ritual blood sacrifice of an animal to their supreme. Its a cue less for Hindus, but more for fellow Muslims. The gov will do its utmost to make it a non-issue. But for the mullahcracy - its one more propaganda element that their god is the strongest and Hindus were powerless before "him". In the medieval period - many hindu temples etc were occupied under Islamic possession and converted into mosques - using this specific ritual. I guess this is the reason some of our Hindu colleagues are so violent in demanding that "history" should be forgotten and that we should not "get stuck in the past" - because they can then suppress these precedences. In turn their objective of preventing the non-Muslim from understanding the significance of this Islamic act - is fulfilled.

Jaipur fest organisers stop reading of Satanic Verses
Jaipur: The organisers of the Jaipur Literature Festival stopped novelist Hari Kunzru from reading excerpts from Salman Rushdie's "The Satanic Verses", saying they could face police action.
The novelist was reading out excerpts from the book which he described as a "study in doubt" when the organisers stepped in towards the end of the session, "Of Gods and Men", to stop him and Amitav Kumar.
The organisers refused to comment on the incident.
Earlier in the day, the organisers had stood by their commitment to freedom of expression after Rushdie called off his visit to India and the festival.

+1. And this does not seem to be an ad-hoc case. I was just checking up the "Letters to Editor" in the The Hindu. They had lots of letters which clearly defended the Deoband fatwa. The excuse was that he should not have hurt the sentiments of Muslims. I have not seen any similar stuff in The Hindu where non-Muslims were involved (the killing of a cow, in Perumbavoor, Ernakulam Rural Dt., Kerala is an example).ramana wrote:I think the UPA has brought in defacto shariat and made India into defacto Pakistan with its idiotic votebank politics.

Rushdie struts around the world on borrowed courage because the western govts always give him fool proof security in the name of freedom of expression.
I am not now nor was I ever a rushdie supporter.
But, in the interest of our own open society, the crazy mullahs should never be allowed to dictate to the majority of Indians like this.
rushdie's personal commitment is there for all to see when he realized that he would not be provided enough security at the literary fest to seek publicity like he always does and get some silly bimbos to warm his nightly bed. So he skulked away, so to speak, tail between his satanic buttocks.
Our own sickulars did not dare (teesta, shahbana, burqha dutt, et al) open their mouths to support rushdie as they so ferociously did to support "freedom of expression" when "famous national artist" hussain painted what he wanted that was so offensive to the Hindus, but then again, only Hindu "sentiments" were affected.

Confirming the casualties, Jharkhand police spokesman IG RK Mallik said that the blast was triggered by Maoists when the police team along with the block development officer (BDO) was returning after clearing a road blockade near Badgarh. The BDO who was travelling in his own vehicle is safe.
At the time of the blast, 15 policemen including the driver were in the anti-landmine vehicle.
"Maoists have taken away all the 14 weapons after the blast in which 13 policemen were killed. The two injured policemen have been shifted to local hospital for treatment," said Mallik.

The Maharashtra election commission is considering cancellation of polls to the local and civic bodies in Naxalite-affected districts and in Nashik, which is known for its grape production and winery business. Reason: Law and order problems. The move comes after Union home minister P Chidambaram recently expressed displeasure at the Congress-NCP government’s “inability” at containing the increasing Naxalite activities, in Gadchiroli and Chandrapur districts in the underdeveloped Vidarbha region.

Sickening. Where is the public outrage, the media outrage, the intellectual outrage. Much more verbiage is spent on just one incarcerated man who may or may not be a major Naxal sympathiser. Do we ever get to know the names of the policemen who die, their families, the effect that such deaths have on them etc? Can you imagine the coverage and the outcry if 15 policemen were killed in the US, UK, France or Australia by some lunatic, ultra-left group.

My question is why are Kancha Illaiah's , Arundhati ROy's, Zakir Naik, Karunanidhi, Pat Robertson etc... and millions who hurt Hindu sentiments Eulogised in the name of Freedom of expression but hypocracy in Taslima Nasreen and Salman Rusdie's case they are condemned for hurting religious sentiments.
Isnt this pure Hypocracy?

Atleast when Policeman die it is given media coverage to show how strong Maoists are, what about zero coverage for Tribals and Villagers killed by the Maoists?
Re: Internal Security Watch
Of course, it is and it is not even bothered to be hidden.Cant recall seeing any "We the people" and 2-3 other public discussions in NDTV and other secular outlets on this "non-secular" happenings.Aditya_V wrote:My question is why are Kancha Illaiah's , Arundhati ROy's, Zakir Naik, Karunanidhi, Pat Robertson etc... and millions who hurt Hindu sentiments Eulogised in the name of Freedom of expression but hypocracy in Taslima Nasreen and Salman Rusdie's case they are condemned for hurting religious sentiments.

Now imagine if something similar had happened with "a certain majority community" protesting. Certain anchors would have had 24 hour public debates screaming blue murder.

Who exactly are the organizers? And what about PC and his vaunted NIA? If all they could do was peddle rumors of hired killers from Mumbai underworld and scare off Rushdie what are they doing to earn their pay?How come they didn't arrest aby of those hired killers for attempted murder? Maybe because its bogus?
Tail between "satanic" buttocks?!!! err... isnt that an indirect clap to the islamists? You may not like his buttocks, but why go for this? We should encourage as many from the Muslim side, as possible, to go after their mullahcracy.
