Indian Special Forces soldiers march during the Army Day parade in New Delhi on January 15, 2012. The Indian army celebrated the 64rd anniversary of the formation of its national army with soldiers from various regiments and artillery taking part in a parade.

I believe something to do with the metal material (titanium alloy) of the engine. Apparently paint does not hold on very well to it and results in flaking.Gurneesh wrote:^^^ Just a guess, but maybe the paint cannot stand the heat. It is unpainted on MKI also.
Also the metal does not rust/get corroded therefore painting was not required for weather protection.

See the gear they are using for cold. Doesn't seem to be different from normal.

Brrrr...... The Hands do not have gloves. The Jawan applying the bandage has got an anti glare.
If you notice, a cable or pipe kindda thing coming from rear and extending to the gun. Ny idea what it is? Don't have a bigger pic for that.

Muhaha...the famous "Hezbollah" march ( subject of as much debate on BRF as the MARCOS scooter helmet)
Bliss for Surya-saar to comment on this pic.

CJ, that is the folding stock of the AK-47 and not some pipe from the bag. See the pic of the stock here:chackojoseph wrote:Brrrr...... The Hands do not have gloves. The Jawan applying the bandage has got an anti glare.

It looks like AN/TPQ-37 Firefinder. To me the difference in it and ST 68 is the presence of those square blocks in the former.

Looking at the snow on the ground next to them the temp has to be right around freezing - one does not need gloves, if one has been in those conditions. Besides working with gloves a lot more diff. Anti glare is as much a must as thermals (if they have any on).
Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Military
hmm....never seen a sterling with a bayonet before.
Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Military
wearing gloves is personal choice..i never used to wear them when i was in delhi even while going out at night...also while doing the mock drill you tend to sweat

It is a para-trooper version of the AKM. Hence the folding stock.chackojoseph wrote:Brrrr...... The Hands do not have gloves. The Jawan applying the bandage has got an anti glare.

Am surprised IA still uses the Sterling. If it does the job well as an SMG why not I guess, but does anything else use its 9mm ammo? Service pistols?Raja Bose wrote:hmm....never seen a sterling with a bayonet before.

^^
IA is still using sterlings only out of compulsion. IA is hardly happy with it.

Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Military
The third soldier in the background right is wearing gloves. Of course it is bad practice to wear thermal gloves while doing a bandage. Rubber gloves are OK but no good for cold.chackojoseph wrote:Brrrr...... The Hands do not have gloves. The Jawan applying the bandage has got an anti glare.

Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Military
^^^ Nice observation.
Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Military
Chacko the other possibility is that she is carrying a chulha to keep her warm. I have read about this (in Kashmir) but have never seen a photo.
Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Military
I think she has folded her legs.shiv wrote:Is that a child totally inside the woman's dress?chackojoseph wrote:Indian Army Lady medical officer attends civilians at Pantha Chowk
On chulas: yes they do have in certain areas, however, they are used only for extended outdoor activities (collecting wood in the forests, etc). The dress they wear when they use a chula is a give-away.

Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Military
^^^^Correct.
Shiv, See the foot is up. She has rested her foot on something. The chulha cannot be that big. Basically, they use small incense cup to perfume their burkha. Shouldn't be bigger than that, I suppose.
BTW, I got another photo showing the gloves. Will post tomorrow morning.

I meant the one without pixelation.. The image, in its current form, cannot be used for a desktop wallpaper, let alone a poster..
