I have a diff view of the rise of Sunak. With the US in slow retreat from the world, alliance partners like the UK needs to look elsewhere to help secure their own interests. I think the corporates along with the political leadership learned quite a bit from the US-China relationship and would like to enter a similar relationship with India. India has a huge labor skilled and unskilled labor advantage and is politically stable. It also has an overall peaceful rise strategy and has positioned itself as the most powerful swing state in human history.Prem Kumar wrote:Possible fall-guy as well if the Tories lose the next general elections to Labour. Intensive negotiations continue towards a free trade agreement (FTA) between India and the UK and new British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is committed to achieving a balanced deal, Downing Street said on Wednesday.
Sunak, who took charge at 10 Downing Street last week, had a “very warm” introductory call with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during which both sides expressed their commitment towards an FTA.
The UK Prime Minister’s office also reiterated that the focus remains on a balanced trade deal that benefits both sides and therefore no timeframe is being specified after a proposed Diwali timeline had to be abandoned last month amid political turmoil in the UK.
The two leaders are expected to meet in person at the G20 Summit in Indonesia later this month, unless they meet at the COP27 Summit in Egypt where the UK Prime Minister has confirmed attendance of the Leader’s Day but Modi’s visit is as yet unconfirmed.
That's nothing. In India we have a complete political party caring for a 50+ year old youth icon.Kedar wrote:King Charles had a valet for his teddy bear — when he was in his 40s: book
Should this also be in Positive news from the UK??
"No Hindutva or RSS extremism in Leicester violence". UK think thank Henry Jackson Society exposes ecosystem’s attempt to malign Hindus and project them as aggressive & intolerant with an expansionist world view.

Boris Johnson would have forfeited earnings of at least £10m a year from speeches and sales of his memoirs if he had fought a leadership battle against Rishi Sunak and lost, according to informed sources in the entertainment industry, who believe financial considerations played a part in his decision to pull out.
Since he resigned in July, Johnson is known to have been in talks with entertainment and talent agencies including Endeavour, run by US businessman Ari Emanuel, and the Harry Walker Agency (HWA), one of its subsidiaries.
HWA’s clients include Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and Serena Williams.
Johnson’s earning potential is said by some of those he had been in talks with before Liz Truss’s resignation to have been put at about £20m a year.
Most Tories, including Johnson supporters, believe the main reason behind his withdrawal from the contest to replace Truss a fortnight ago was that he was being told he risked destroying the Tory party, and his reputation with it. However, some of his allies were surprised and felt let down by his decision.
“There were a lot of people upset with Boris,” one senior Tory figure said. “They’d backed him publicly only to see him pull out at the last minute. They didn’t understand why.”
Their confusion deepened on Friday when Sir Graham Brady, chair of the 1922 Committee of Conservative backbenchers, made it clear that Johnson had definitely received enough nominations (the backing of at least 100 MPs) to proceed to a final “indicative” vote of MPs and then a ballot of the 170,000 or so party members who’d have the final say. At the time some doubted he had got close to 100.
The Observer has been told that people associated with Emanuel made it clear to Johnson that had he lost against Sunak, his appeal to global audiences, and therefore a good deal of his earning power, would disappear. It is understood that the talent industry believed his value would have dropped by at least half.
No way should India accept some the Pharmaceutical related IPR rules that UK might be forcing on India's Pharmaceutical Industry. This is based on "leaked chapter" from UK's Draft FTA text.IndraD wrote:British PM Rishi Sunak committed to FTA with India, says Downing Street https://indianexpress.com/article/world ... t-8246331/
The UK's demands are seeking to gut India's patent and drug regulatory laws of the safeguards that make it a manufacturing powerhouse. India is a major supplier of many of the affordable, lifesaving generic medicines that MSF and many countries rely on to treat people with diseases like tuberculosis (TB), malaria, and HIV/AIDS. The excessive measures included in the draft IP chapter of the UK-India FTA could jeopardize this

A Ukrainian couple was admitted to residency program at my madarasa and was looking for research opportunities to get into a highly competitive subspecialty that is especially hard to get x for foreign medical grad . They approached an Israeli colleague pretending to be Jewish Ukrainian refugees thinking it would help them secure favors. Coincidentally it was after rosh hassanah. Asked how was rosh hassanah. Kids thought that may be a place in Israel they pretended to visit and said it was a nice place!!
I am waiting for them to approach me pretending to be Indians.
It's not uncommon for people to lie to secure favors . But this was blatant .
so somehow there are mormons in ukraine who are persecuted by the russians who need to be US refugees. makes sense loldnivas wrote:A lot of my SHQ's family from Ukr and Rusisa came to the US via the 'Jewish' routegakakkad wrote:^ I have an example of pure pakiness . Bangalore Kerala style.

husband is alive, proper member of the ltte, and he is/was an illegal SL refugee who entered India clandestinely and so legally forfeits all claim to refugee status in India but since wokes are part of the Indian ecosystem and anything goes
visa was given because the host is an active part of the BIF that funded, armed and even today aids the dravidian terrorists who once operated out of SL but today are operating out of dravidian claimed lands.
can a convict even hold an Indian passport or will the wokes allow that too to happen
Because, their cases were identical to Perarivalan's release. All their roles were peripheral, at best, to the actual conspiracy which was planned and executed by Sivarasan who committed suicide once he realized that the Police had surrounded him. The Supreme Court had earlier released Perarivalan using a rarely used Article in the Indian Constitution which empowers the SC to render 'justice' when laws as framed, allow no scope for doing so. Since other six people's cases were no different from that of Perarivalan (in terms of their participation and knowledge of the conspiracy) their right to be released became no less than that of Perarivalan.Cyrano wrote:What was the legal basis stated by the SC to set these killers free? jee, you should not even be asking that question considering it is the UK they are going to.Rsatchi wrote:How the hell did they get visa??
I used to follow two Russian commentators (for Ukraine-related topics) and one of them - about 3 months ago - said that the ruling class in Russia is very concerned that Sunak would pull India towards the West because both of these PMs are Hindu.
