Apparently, a call was made from this SHO's police station to local power house to cutoff power to village. This further disjointed the police that night.sanjayc wrote:^^ Apparently, the local SHO was the mole who tipped off the gangster, according to Times of India today. Aaj Tak news is telling us which planes are landing in #Ladakh, I don't see any Chinese media announcing what their military doing on their side of the border!
This particular incident seems to show much deeper issues that training and equipment cannot solve. It seems at least some local cops there were in cahoots with the gangster. No amount of training and equipment will save you if you are betrayed by your own like this.RKumar wrote:It shows that UP police require a reform. Delhi Riots: Funds received from the UK, Oman and UAE in January, Police continues to probe foreign funding link
https://www.opindia.com/2020/07/delhi-a ... -oman-uae/
In a significant development, sleuths of Delhi Police have made a major revelation about the alleged foreign funding into the violent anti-Hindu riots that rocked the national capital in the last week of February. The Delhi Police in its investigation into the Delhi riots found that funds were received from the United Kingdom, Oman and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) just before the flare-up in the northeast Delhi.
According to the sources, the Delhi police personnel are in possession of a register that bears that secrets of Delhi riots funding. The register was made ahead of the violent riots and has the complete bookkeeping of how the funds were utilised and distributed with the aim to gin up the riots in Delhi, the sources and the beneficiaries of the funds, a senior officer privy to details said.

Good riddance. But hope that UP Govt. has managed to get maximum information from him. And to be read with this is the fact that five of is aides have also been shot dead in different places in UP.
THey probably knew his story even when they came for him, so maybe he did not have much to share, other than maybe his bank accounts. This sends a message (i) to the rest of the gangsta's cronies that they better behave, and (ii) the judiciary has become irrelevant (Per regular procedure, he would be eating chana batura in jail for 20 years while his case got due process)- same story as the encounter in Hyderabad on the rape case where they kidnapped the lady, raped and burnt her. The judiciary has become irrelevant for most of the citizens as far as criminal (and civil) cases are concerned. (Also, this just shows how bad UP was before Yogi came on board- the gangsters were running the place. This guy was a (ex) BSP functionary too).Sachin wrote:Gangster Vikas Dubey killed in encounter, says UP Police

The guy surrendered after his nephew was shot dead and his son was taken in custody- it was him or his son and he chose his death. It sends a message- these are ones that kept the Mafia ecosystem flowing, you remove the ground level workers, then there is no one to implement unwritten policies.Sachin wrote:Gangster Vikas Dubey killed in encounter, says UP Police

The irony is that the Supreme Court had ruled that the police cannot handcuff an accused. So if the police claim that the prisoner snatched a rifle or simply tried to run away and was killed while fleeing, the Courts can't turn around and ask the police, "why didn't you handcuff him?SriKumar wrote:THey probably knew his story even when they came for him, so maybe he did not have much to share, other than maybe his bank accounts. as a general rule, there are very few places in the world where you can kill cops and get away with it.Aditya_V wrote:The guy surrendered after his nephew was shot dead and his son was taken in custody- it was him or his son and he chose his death. Sir, you seem to have high hopes on the justice system in India. From another comment I read; this chap had 62 cases in 30 years (i.e a hit rate of two cases/year). And he still was out in his bungalow and went ahead and killed 8 police officers. If any thing which gets proven here is the absolute uselessness of the Indian judicial system when it comes to speedy delivery of justice. By the way there was a case of a nun found dead in a well which happened ages back and is still being heard in the court of law. The nun if alive most likely would be in her 50s by now.Pratyush wrote:I would have wished that he received the death penelty from the judiciary and was hanged for justice.

And on judicial executions. I do feel that even the Nirbhaya rapists hung mainly because; their overall poor status, their religion and then the gravity of their crime.

Unbelievable. In the pictures of the arrest near the temple, I Was wondering why he was not hand-cuffed, one policeman was holding Dubey by his pants (from the back). Did not know this was a SC ruling.nandakumar wrote: Supreme Court had ruled that the police cannot handcuff an accused. There are Supreme Court directives on hand-cuffing the prisoners. It is to be used only in the extreme cases where restraint of the arrested man would be other wise difficult. These guide lines came in with a good intention; that is to stop the practise of putting hand cuffs to humiliate the arrested person. And there was also a guide line that hand cuffs are to be avoided when travelling. Again the intention being that the arrested person's chance to escape if the vehicle meets with an accident is NOT restricted because he was hand cuffed. I have seen in states like KL, where the police men actually put two cuffs on the same hands when the accused are brought for court hearingsSriKumar wrote:Unbelievable. Another bizarre outcome of the Supreme Court directions is that two policemen on either side of the accused lock their hands with him as though they are some bosom buddies while he is escorted to and from the Court.Sachin wrote:There are Supreme Court directives on hand-cuffing the prisoners. Now why does NOT the person try to escape? As per many police men it is only due to a tacit understanding between the remand prisoner and the police man on escort duty. And a slight fear that if they make an attempt and get caught; then the treatment they would be getting would not very good for their health. Again, if you notice it is the threat of physical pain which is at play here not any great fear of the juidicial system.
I suppose no political party showed up. Probably no urban naxals either. Also worth contrasting against terrorist funerals and fan fare that they receive.TIMES NOW@TimesNow·35m

Security forces at India-Pakistan border have been put on high alert after an intelligence input revealed that terrorists are trying to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir. Sources in intelligence agencies have told ANI that input has been shared with the forces and they have been asked to keep a close watch on activities in these areas. Forces suspect that the BAT of Pakistan army is facilitating terrorists to carry out an action soon. There have been movements of terrorists towards the Indian side. Pakistan's BAT consists of its army commandos and terrorists belonging to various terror outfits. BAT has started targeting civilians as well.

The Mumbai case
In the Mumbai case, Momin was booked for obtaining forged documents to procure passports for the five Pakistani hijackers. He was booked along with 22 others in a separate case filed in Mumbai on charges including forgery, forgery of a passport, cheating and relevant sections of the Indian Passport Act. It was claimed that Momin had paid between Rs 300 and Rs 2500 to a passport agent, his employees, passport office clerks, employees of motor driving schools from where false documents were given to procure driving licences in names of the hijackers.
