IMHO Pakistan awaam is generally still stuck in the 70s-80s.
So their leaders can utter such statements as there is hardly any social media or even MSM to make a larger than local area impact. For eg the awaam of KPK doesn't know or remember what he told the awaam of Punjab...

I remember many years ago someone on a panel discussion on TV had commented that just like PST is 30 minutes behind IST, Pakistan itself is 30 years behind India!
This was sometime in the late 90s. I'd say that Pakistan is still stuck in the same world, now 55 years behind India!

I concur
I have seen quite a few pakistani youtube blogs in urdu/punjabi in the past few months. And the scene seems to be the same (or worse) as the videos i had seen 10-15 years ago.
The extreme poverty and infra is reminiscent of India in the 70s. But the divide between the elites and the awaam is more well-defined and much wider and starker than in the India of the 70s-80s.
The last 2 years alone seem to have set the people back by 10-15 years!

Mufti Shah Mir, accused of helping Pakistan's ISI in kidnapping Indian businessman and former Indian Navy officer Kulbhushan Jadhav from Iran, was shot dead on Friday night by unidentified gunmen in Turbat, Balochistan.
Mir, known to be involved in human trafficking, was leaving the local mosque after Taraweeh (night) prayers when bikers ambushed him and shot him multiple times at point-blank range. According to a report in Dawn, Mir was immediately shifted to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Mir, a human and arms trafficker, operated under the cover of a mufti (scholar) and was a member of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, an Islamic fundamentalist political party.
Mir had survived two attempts on his life last year
Sources said he was an important conduit linked with ISI-led death squads and played a significant role in the abduction and extrajudicial killing of numerous Baloch youths. He was also instrumental in spreading religious extremism in Balochistan.
In March 2016, Jadhav was abducted by a group led by Mullah Omar Irani of Jaish al-Adl from the Iran-Pakistan border and handed over to the Pakistan army through several intermediaries, including Mir. Irani was also killed, along with his two sons, in the same area (Turbat) in Nov 2020, allegedly by ISI.
Mir is also suspected to have been gunned down by ISI operatives in what is believed to be an internal conflict that has been brewing for some time. Last week, two others of JUI-F -- Wadera Ghulam Sarwar and Molvi Amanullah -- were shot dead by bike-borne assailants in what the local police described as targeted killings. The security guard of one also sustained bullet injuries. Mir had also survived two attempts on his life last year and had recently restricted his movements. "He was providing intelligence about Baloch fighters to the Pak army. In 2023, a teacher named Abdul Rauf was murdered over alleged blasphemy in Turbat. The killing was carried out on the instructions of Mir," a source informed.
Jadhav, who was running a business in Chabahar (Iran) after a premature retirement from the Navy, was abducted and incarcerated on false charges in Pakistan. He was intercepted in the Chaman area of Balochistan on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border on March 3, 2016. In April 2017, a Pakistani military court sentenced Jadhav to death, charging him with involvement in espionage and sabotage activities. India condemned the verdict as a premeditated murder. The International Court of Justice stayed the execution while asking the Pakistan government to review the conviction process besides grant consular access to India.

Interesting to note that the Lumber One fauj and intelligence agency personnel on the train were overpowered by the BLA.

In my opinion, that 200 plus fauj is on the train apparently gave up without a fight points to the use of overwhelming (possibly ruthless) force by the BLA, a lack of fighting spirit by Pakfauj or both
That said, this train (Quetta to Islamabad and Peshawar via Sindh) is commonly used by Baki soldiers posted in Balochistan, who are going on leave or coming back from leave.
While soldiers typically don’t carry weapons at these times, the incidents reflects a serious security flaw (was there force protection on the train and what was it doing?) as well as BLA’s meticulous planning.
The 'brave' Baki fauj is claiming to have retaken the Jaffar Express and killed ALL the BLA freedom fighters and freed all the hostages. Please take this news item from TOIlet with a mountain of salt. How is it possible that in a shoot out between the BLA and the 'brave' Baki fauj, only the BLA get completely eliminated and there are no casualties or injuries to the Baki fauj?

Standard practise is adult males who are killed and not security forces are automatically militant (particularly if they are Baluchi/Pashtun).
That's why there have been suicide bombings that have killed more militants than others.

The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claims it still holds hostages from the Jaffar Express, contrary to Pakistan military's statement of resolving the crisis. Apparently Baloch don't practice Islam, they are leftist. They accept mandirs on their land and accept their long history on the land of Balochistan. They are very tribe oriented and loyal to their own, their land is sacred. There is now a Baloch-Sindhi-Pashtun Unite happening in Puke land. The PakJabi dudes that are in charge in Puki Punjab actually got islamized due to Baloch, Pashtun invading them.
