Russian currency went from $1 = 75 roubles to as high as 138 and now back down to pre-war level of 76. With massive gold reserves, liquid black gold (oil/gas), ensuring your customer have no choice, and a serious, real, and actionable hard power, it is possible to defend your currency.
...
Ruble is now at 70.5 and went from parity with INR to premium (0.93). And currency has appreciated against Chinese yuan and euro.

Tracking ruble is not as much fun and satisfying as tracking the depreciation of PKR, but it is quite interesting to follow currency movement and exchange rate setting. For foreign currency exchange rate, you need 3 currencies, with USD pretty much setting the exchange rate btw other two currencies. With USD and Ruble trade delinked, and other countries still trading with Russia, which will be the anchor currency (or gold)?

Looks like NATO is cooking something for Moldova. US, UK, Canada, France & Germany have asked their citizens to leave Moldova immediately. This is the precursor to an armed conflict in that country. (similar to previous directives in Syria, Libya and recently in Ukraine).

Wouldn’t be surprised if Moldova is dragged into this conflict by UKies, but given their dependence of Russ gas, which has no alternative for Moldova at this moment, all they have to do is ask Pootinsky for help, and the problem could be solved. Looks like they owe a ton of money to Gazprom and gas contract matures tomorrow.

Looks like some shady negotiations going on behind the scenes to force/incite Moldova to act on Transnistria but the govt may be resisting taking the bait.
(Republic) Moldova Admits It 'can't Give Up' Russian Gas Supply After Assuring Of Backup Plan
... It is to note here that Moldova’s contract with Gazprom will expire on May 1. For the deal to be extended, the country has to complete an audit of its massive outstanding debt for earlier gas deliveries before the Russian side. However, according to Russian state media, RT, Chisinau is unlikely to meet the deadline. The country had previously claimed that the conflict in Ukraine prevented it from hiring a foreign auditor to do the job. Gazprom has reportedly stated that Moldovagaz owes the company some $709 million.

A week ago rumor was that Romania (actually Romanians dressed as Moldovian security) along with Ukrainians would get hold of that Russian region Transnistria.

Moldova is still opposed to any military activity on her soil, but is powerless to prevent one.

Russian occupied regions of erstwhile Ukraine state are never going back into Ukrainian control.

Russia has started :
- taking over local administration,
- using them to distribute Russian aid to the population,
- introduced rubles as currency, which will progressively replace Ukr currency in the next 4 months,
- opening branches of Russian banks
- restarted schools and hospitals where possible
- started clearing rubble from cities by deploying Russian construction agencies,
- has started giving pensions to the old and the disabled
- has started operating ports on the black sea etc.

Meanwhile Kyiv regime has ordered switch off/disconnection of mobile networks in these regions. They may cut electricity and other utilities next. Looks like half-admission that these territories are lost to Russia.

This IMO is more revealing than all the reports on the status of the war in Donbass. Russia will most likely take the entire southern coast and reduce Ukraine to a land locked rump state with its remaining hate filled neonazi militias. De-radicalising them will be very very tough.

Ukranians are the first to pay for their bad karma of persecution of Russophone people of their own country for over a decade. Europe will be next for alternately ignoring, tacitly supporting these heinous crimes and propping up a corrupt, immoral Kyiv regime. Europe will be flooded with 7-10 million refugees by the time the situation clears out, and will have to deal with them socially, economically and risks seeing a resurgence of far-right & neoNazi groups in many EU countries, plus a free flow of all the arms supplied to Ukraine.

USA has created another Al Quaeda/Taliban type adversary for itself, pretty soon the stateless neonazi remnants will go against their creators and will be much harder to deal with than bearded bunnies. Its karma backlog keeps growing...

Finally the UN GS has done something useful. No doubt pushed by NATO powers he went to Moscow and spoke to Putin across his iconic oval table each end of which might be in a different post code.

He was pushing the case for the people holed up in Azovstal in Mariupol. Putin told him it's simple if there are civilians they can come out, you can put your observers and Red Cross there. Non-civilians have to lay down arms and surrender, and will be treated as per Geneva convention after identification and interrogation.

Guiterrez then relayed the same to elensly while Putin rained a few missiles on Kyiv to be sure he stays on the path.

Kyiv had no choice but to agree to civilian evacuation and it appears 70-100 civilians including a dozen children exited Azovstal to safety. Not much coverage in MSM as expected. If there aren't any more civilians, Putin has effectively taken away the sheild Azov leaders and foreign officers hiding underground had used so far. We can expect them to get cleaned out in the next few days.

It was clear from day one that this ghost was total bs.

The question is why is UkAF admitting it now, and why is BBC relaying it? Plus other stories that caution against Ukr fake news factory?

The winds are turning.... there is something afoot besides the imminent collapse of AFU is Donbass which has been on the wall for a few weeks now, only because Russkis are taking their time, perhaps to capture as much NATO supplies as possible, see new stuff in action and refine their tactics accordingly, all while ensuring near zero own casualties.

TLDR
Article about the interview on Al Arabiya site

Few other points
Lavrov lays out clearly that Ukraine has been changing its position during the negotiations.
This operation will stop when objectives are met (in response to question about May 9)
Gas supply to Poland and Bulgaria will be resumed once they agree to payment mechanism which other countries have.
Americans have been blocking creation of a verification mechanism in the context of the biological weapons convention.
Humanitarian corridors created daily in Mariopol but ultra nationalists keeping civilians as shields.

war brings out the worst in a human being

afghan culture in war is one of the worst, notwithstanding poetic and romantic campfire tales about barbecue tandoori meat and noble savages.

the russkis reacted and avenged horrific german barbarity on their people and it was well deserved too.

the japs are hated even today for their brutal behavior towards the conquered, just ask south korea and china

Now the germans and the japs are quiet and contrite, until the next time, of course

Whatever the Germans did to the Russians or the Russians did to the Germans later was exchange of barbarism.

What about the daily Su 30 SM Su 34 and Su 35 losses, eh? Notice the article still has propaganda, it claims most of the Russian Helicopter and aircraft are shot down by shoulder fired Sam's but crash in Russian territory. Well if aircraft are shot down shoulder fired Sam's they crash over that general area and Ukraine would have displayed the wreckage.

Having pics of Libya nd Iraq, apart from Mariupol the Russians seem to be very restrained.

Will the EU press India on Ukraine during Modi's visit?
During his tour of Europe, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will need to walk a fine line between building ties and maintaining India's neutral stance on Russia's war in Ukraine.
Murali Krishnan (New Delhi), 29.04.2022

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Germany, Denmark and France next week as India seeks to energize its partnership with the European Union, while facing criticism for its position on Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Since the war began, India has refrained from condemning Russia's actions while stepping up purchases of cheap Russian oil. This is in stark contrast to Europe, which is trying to cut off Russian energy while rallying international opposition to the war.
During his visit, Modi is expected to explain India's Ukraine position to EU leaders. Germany will be his first stop, where the Indian prime minister will sit down for his first meeting with Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin.
The leaders will chair the Indo-German Intergovernmental Consultations (IGC), a bilateral dialogue format intended to move forward cooperation on several policy fronts.
Germany seeks closer ties to India
"No major problem can be solved without India," Tobias Lindner, minister of state at the German Foreign Ministry said ahead of the visit.
"We want to have cooperation in technology, education, security and climate change with India. India is such an important partner," he told a security meeting in Delhi early this week.
Last year, India and Germany commemorated 70 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, and the two countries have been strategic partners since 2000.
"This visit will be an opportunity to enhance and intensify cooperation in a broad range of areas and for the two governments to exchange views on regional and global matters of mutual interest," India's External Affairs Ministry said in a statement.
Foreign policy experts said the meetings would allow Modi to better understand the German and EU perspective on Ukraine.
India seeks the support of Germany and France in pushing through a free trade agreement that Delhi is negotiating with Brussels.

What Ukranians did in Donbass since 2013 is akin to what Pakis did in East Pakistan. That's the bad karma I was referring to.

Ukraine will pay a heavy price like TFTA Pakis did and lose a big chunk of territory and just like Pakis are still reaping the poisonous fruit of the seeds of hate and cruelty they sowed, forever sinking as a dysfunctional society a similar fate awaits Ukraine.

EU countries cannot deny à minima their complicity by wilful association if not wholesale NATO led connivance for years that has led to the current war. And EU's karma will come calling, way sooner than you think, within the next decade.
