two separate attacks in same location. looks like the tank had broken down and was abandoned with no ammo/fuel, so no explosion. the IFV got a glancing hit and warhead did not explode so all got out safe

Those two missiles were both fired some minutes apart (smoke from first hit has completely cleared when 2nd missile is fired). Though both the tank and IFV were probably damaged (but not completely destroyed).

Looks like the Turks got off easy in that exchange.

Seems like exactly the thing one would do in war, hain? Two tanks parked on a barren hilltop, no cover, in direct line of sight to the slopes around. No one on watch even.

First ATGM scores a direct hit on tank 1. People run for cover after the fact.

Then they come back. A whole lot of them piled inside the second tank. Sit around for several minutes buggering each other (what else were they doing all that time inside a tank?) The tank moves a bit to be in better position for exposure to the hillside from where the first ATGM came.

Second ATGM "hits". Nice flash and all. Ppl now come out of the tank. No particular hurry to go to cover. Show is over, they know there are no more mijjiles coming.

BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:50 P.M.) - The so-called "Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham" (ISIS) transferred a large number of fighters from Al-Bab City in eastern Aleppo to the Deir Ezzor Governorate, a military source informed Al-Masdar on Saturday morning.

ISIS is expected to launch a massive offensive in the Deir Ezzor Governorate to kick-off the new year and close the gap on the remaining Syrian Arab Army (SAA) soldiers that are besieged inside this province located in eastern Syria.

For the Syrian Arab Army units in Deir Ezzor, this Islamic State offensive could not come at a worse time, due to the fact that they are still trying to recover the territory they lost to the terrorist forces in the eastern countryside of the Homs Governorate.


While the Syrian Arab Army is not experiencing any manpower shortages in Deir Ezzor, they are still full encircled without any outlet to retreat or receive necessary provisions.

If the Syrian Arab Army can manage to repel this offensive in Deir Ezzor, they will alleviate a lot of pressure on their forces operating in eastern Homs.

So it looks like turks have given up on al bab for now ecept bombing it from the air

So Turkish troops (or at least that unit) are apparently sloppy. It's hard to pinpoint the source of an AT missile launch from 1-2 kilometers away, especially with inexperienced or undisciplined troops. They guys filming these vids do it with extreme zoom lenses. The Turks failed to figure out where the first shot came from. This vid is no different from countless similar vids we've all seen from Houthis in Yemen, rebels in Syria, etc.

Not everything is a conspiracy you know.

No, just a certainty of Bogusstan. Special effects YouTube Videos is a specialized bijnej. Probably only 2 or 3 top outfits: The Flee Syrian/CIA Videos Inc and the Iranian one. Overall, the Iranian one is more honest in that they let the reader figure out it is 400% fake. Turkish military may be sloppy, but faced with a hidden missile launcher, no adult is going to be milling around.

the sultan ofcourse, master and commander of the 2nd largest nato army with 2000 tanks. I meant turkey tried the khan socom approach of being advisers and minimal boots on ground and failed, now they need to man up and put some shoulder to the wheel or give up al-bab as a lost cause.

I have no facts to back it up but my feeling is that when comes to power projection, these guys are over rated.

To fight the kind of war being in Syria, you need an infantry heavy army like India. Which also has heft in conventional warfare and support wide scale operations with artillery and armor.

As an aside, looking at what ISIS has been doing in Syria, the way they fight, ruthlessness and ingenuity, one can only imagine what all IA did and way it adapted itself to wipe out terrorism in Valley.

From a civilizational stand-point - I think our large population base ensured we were able to absorb Islamic invasions and massacres and still have have the numbers to sustain ourselves as Hindus and a civilization. Same holds today as well - Indian Army can raise few divisions worth of troops in less than a year!

Interesting. I didn't think the Kurds had it in them. If they have now mastered the art of suicide bomber production, which requires a high level of brainwashing, the Kurds might have become a real nightmare for the Turks. This will turn Erdogan's current anti-Kurd campaign into a genuine quagmire, far worse than any of the campaigns from decades past. It also means the Kurds are transforming into true Islamists, casting doubt on the notion of supporting a Kurdish state.

afaik PKK has done it selectively, but not the YPG or Peshmerga.

turkey does not have the manpower to fight a indian style COIN campaign in a area far larger 5X than kashmir valley. isolated outposts and the convoys to them are routine prey in countryside, apart from suicide attacks or car bombs in the towns.

suicidal attack is not a islamic invention though - at various points in time has been seen everywhere from the rajput "shaka" to banzai on saipan to 14yo german boys with panzerfausts having a go at american armour.....so kurds can use it but still not drop into islamofascism.



PKK seems more rural and fiercer / mountaineer than the more urbanized syrian and iraqi kurds...they dress in traditional pyjamas and are at home in the forests and mountains. in that they are a continuation of the afghani tribes & houthis in being a PITA in the mountains...

also I have developed a low opinion of the shiny new western styled MRAP vehicles - they invariably seem to be torn to pieces - anyone who stages a ambush is not going to piss around with a 5kg mine, they are going to use 50-100kg charge that will take out a MBT let alone a puny MRAP that costs $1 million but is little better than a BMP in protection.
