Dr. Audrey Truschke received a public scholar grant (NEH.gov) to write a one volume history on India "from Indus valley civilization to today". She is going to write a "sweeping history of south Asia".

I understand the larger game plan behind 'Onam is a harvest' nonsense now. I was confused initially because Pongal, celebrated in January is linked to harvesting of fresh paddy. Also many parts of TN harvest two and in a few places even three crops, the long duration paddy harvested in January holds a special significance. That said there is an element of the religious as well. The day marks the culmination of 30-days of austere living and thinking about matters spiritual captured in the celebration of the memory of the saint-poet Andal whose enduring devotion to Lord Krishna results in her being united with Him. This is in addition to paying tributes to the sun and rain gods for conferring prosperity on them. None of these elements are present in Onam being celebrated as a 'harvest festival's in Kerala.

Even pongal has been completely converted into a "cultural festival" in TN. Churches hold pongal lunch/dinner just like churches in KL hold onam feasts. Churches and church run schools in TN encourage pongal to be celebrated as a "regional festival" and avoid all symbols that connects it to its dharmic roots. The de-hinduisation of hindu festivals will continue until all traces hinduism are erased.

Until the next contract is again "awarded" to the same company.

they had messed up India Post finacle software as well.

they ruined the roll out of the GST portal too.

Not to forget the MCA portal. One of the worst.

They won't dare to do this nonsense with foreign players.

With govt projects they deliver a website which doesn't work even after two and a half months after launch

All these hits were taken directly by the Modi govt and there was a political fallout as well.

Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action.

Finance Ministry summons Infosys CEO over persistent glitches in the Income Tax portal even after 2.5 months

“The glitches on the new Income are expected to be fixed entirely in the next two-three weeks. I have been reminding Infosys constantly, and Nandan Nilekani is giving me assurances that they will sort it out,” she said.

During the monsoon session, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary had informed the Parliament in a written reply that from January 2019 till June 2021, Infosys has been paid Rs.164.5 crore to develop the portal.

Ministry of Finance has summoned Sh Salil Parekh,MD&CEO @Infosys on 23/08/2021 to explain to hon'ble FM as to why even after 2.5 months since launch of new e-filing portal, glitches in the portal have not been resolved. In fact, since 21/08/2021 the portal itself is not available.

I've been suggesting and encouraging Hindus to start celebrating Christmas as "Jesus navami" (or ekadashi or whatever) in a lunar calendar (not solar on Dec. 25th each year), and treat it as just another Hindu festival, with the significance that sins committed in the past year will be pardoned, *if the person undertakes not to repeat them, ever.* Similar to a Ganga Snan. But I just get dismissed as a crackpot.

Then people freak about what the churches are doing, and how they have a grand vision and masterplan, and are destined to succeed.

How often do you see your Muslim citizens calling for you to burn in hell or whatever? They're too busy not getting lynched. HOWEVER, YOUR beloved BJP is calling for Ram Raj. Think about it...if you can think. Jesus-e-Stan, Caliphate and Ram Raj are all theocratic nightmares.

And this is the quality of scholarship and they wonder why they lost to the ragtagaban. It betrays not even a passing acquaintance with the creed.

No dear Christine, you are confusing Blacks being lynched with Muslims being lynched amongst several other matters. Mind the time zones.

Also recent incidents. As per many Americans rallying against it, the African-Americans are killed off by uniformed death squads run by local village and town administrations with the legal system supporting them. The country is awash with automatic weapons in the hands of lightly controlled militias, which are also the reason why minorities live in fear. The marchers even called for sanctions against the local administrations and their budgets, but to no avail. And after a violence ridden regime change, the marchers have been quietened down by sectarian politicians.

95% of Fair's followers are Indians who lap on to her every word hoping she'll tear pakis apart in media. In reality she is the same Fair from 2005-2012 period when she routinely batted for Pakistan and saw things solely from its perspective, just that she is now as useful as a used c0ndom for the ISI. Unfortunately there are many like her in the western intelligentsia who love drawing parallels because it so nicely fits into their preformed beliefs and opinions.

The explanation is much simpler. It had to do with curry.

They believe that bashing India/Indians/Hindus will curry favour with Muslims. That they somehow gain immunity to kufar.

It may buy them this only insofar as they will be dealt with last.

The posts are obviously no anodyne for the Pakistanis responding to her. Perhaps they are not convinced by the protestations of “I’m not islamophobic”.

Exactly in the same vein as the slightly less rabid writers in the Pakistani English press. An iota of criticism is preceded by a barrage of anti India invective. I suppose it buys them some more life in this world. Perhaps they are not sure there is a better world that awaits.

This is why NYT gives its august nay hallowed pages to Rana Ayoub. Buying immunity. Of course, Pakistanis, they feel free to tell us what they really think. I would be worried.

Right, it serves to balance the perception that Moslems have, that the West, particularly the US and UK, are against them, or have done them serious wrong. By attacking Hindus and India, a sense of balance is then restored, the Western countries and media can now tell Moslems indirectly, "see, we not against you, we're criticising one of the countries that is responsible for injustice toward Moslems". It's so contrived and pretty transparent to the discerning reader.

SL urges India's help to evacuate Lankans in Afghanistan

"Our primary concern is the safety and security of Sri Lankans living in Afghanistan and evacuating them to safety or back to Sri Lanka," said the Foreign Ministry and requested the support of India, the US, the UK, Pakistan and the United Nations to evacuate Sri Lankans in Afghanistan. (cheen is not mentioned here, wonder why...)

Out of 86 Sri Lankans 46 have already been evacuated and 20 more to be removed while 20 have opted to remain in Afghanistan under Taliban.

While expressing the concern of possibilities of mass migration, extremist religious elements attempting to find a safe haven and enhanced illegal narcotic trade which could have a destabilizing effect on the entire South Asian region, Sri Lanka, as a member of SAARC, undertook to assist any regional efforts on this.

Govt of India’s Know India website hails Mughal rule as ‘greatest ever’, praises Aurangzeb, Akbar, Babur etc

23 August, 2021
OpIndia Staff

The hopeless love for the Mughal invaders seems to have no end in the minds of the Indian government’s officials. On August 23, author Ratan Sharda pointed out that the Know India website maintained by the government, (KnowIndia.gov.in) hails the Mughal period as “the greatest empire ever” in Indian history.

In the ‘culture and heritage’ section of the KnowIndia website, the Medieval History section sings the glory of the Mughal empire, with many distorted details and no mention of the atrocities inflicted by them.

It went ahead and claimed that during that period, “India became united under one rule, and had very prosperous cultural and political years during the Mughal rule.”

It also goes ahead and claims, “In India, there were many Muslim and Hindu kingdoms split all throughout India until the Mughals came.” Basically, the entire ‘Medieval History’ of India, as per the Ministry of Culture website was all about the Mughals and their glory.

The page titled The Mughal Empire under Medieval History talks about different Mughal rulers while painting them as secular, tolerant and good rulers. Interestingly, Rajput and Maratha rulers, or the Ahoms who fought for centuries with Mughals, and limited the spread of their empire have no mention in the said section of the website. The whitewash of the atrocities done by Mughal rulers is to the extent that there is no mention of Hindus killed by them, no mention of the destruction of Hindu temples and forced conversions. For Jehangir, It claims, “He strived to reform society and was tolerant towards Hindus, Christians and Jews.”

There is only one mention of the execution of Sikh Guru Arjan Dev Ji in a very vague manner, but that too has distorted the actual history. The website claims that Guru Arjan Dev (the website refers to him as Arjun Dev which is incorrect) was killed by Mughal emperor Jehangir because he provided aid and support to the Jehangir’s stranded son Khusrau. In reality, the fifth Guru was killed as he refused to pay a fine for preaching Sikhism and also refused to remove certain hymens from Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Vaani, which Jehangir founded offensive. Guru Arjan Dev suffered five days before succumbing to the torture at the hands of the Mughal ruler.

Praising Aurangzeb
The site has no mention of Aurangzeb’s atrocities on Hindus, and the rampant destructions of the holiest of Hindu temples. The paragraph only laments that Aurangzeb could not fulfil his dream of bringing the entire subcontinent under his rule. But there is no mention that the Marathas had dealt him repeated defeats and his ‘rule’ are more or less confined to only Northern India. There is no mention of Ahoms who had, under Lachit Borphukan, stopped Mughal advances towards Assam.

Interestingly, the site claims that Aurangzeb’s ambition remained unfulfilled only because ‘he kept his five sons away from the royal court and hence they could not be trained properly, not because of the Marathas and Ahoms.

Sharp reaction from netizens
Netizens expressed displeasure over the distorted history of India. Many expressed displeasure over the lack of will to correct teaching of a whitewashed and pro-Mughal version of history that has been taught to students so far.

Distorted events in history with no proof

This is not the first time the Government of India has been called out for not correcting the history on the websites or in books. In January 2021, in reply to RTI, it was revealed that the claims about the construction of Qutub Minar, as mentioned in the NCERT books, has no documented proof whatsoever. In the reply, DESS said that they do not have any evidence to support the assertion made in the textbook. The names of those who proposed the content are mentioned in the book, and it was approved by the National Monitoring Committee, Chaired by Prof. Mrinal Miri.

The reaction in SM seems to have knocked some sense into the morons who created that site. There is no Mughal-glory when I looked now.

Also, in a small act of mercy, there is no mention of Aryans in the "Ancient History" section, though they downplay the antiquity of our civilization by calling it 4000 years old. Bhirrana goes back to 8th Millennium BCE.

there is a need to unmask whoever was involved in this atrocity.

It was deliberate and it was done to show the power of the BIF which reached into the ministry of culture and perpetuated this crime

name and shame... and then destroy the enemy. Show no mercy

first they associate, then gradually, over time, they appropriate, next they assimilate, and then obliterate your ownership, negate your civilizational narratives and they engulf the culture and finally they acculturate saying they you were never there and it was them all along (like the aryan invasion theory)

your holy books and philosophical texts have all been found (miraculously) to have been authored by them and backdated proof is manufactured to say so, their gods have become your gods and you have become them.

as you have sprung from their loins, they are still white and you are brown so you remain the slave and they are the masters, and have been the masters since primordial times as they want you to believe, acknowledge and accept.

and yet they are flabbergasted to see that except for the vibrant and ancient Hindu civilization that exists even today despite their best efforts to destroy it, there is little or no trace of any other ancient civilization.

a religion stripped of all its traditions, rituals, culture becomes a dead religion. they very well know this. it is high time that we understood this as well.

Tradition is not the worship of ashes, but the preservation of the civilizational and cultural fire.

jallikattu in TN is another prime example. And now, for the same jallikattu, the bulls have to be "blessed/consecrated" by the padres. (camel-----tent). The poor bulls have been converted and they don't even know.

Its a bit like the camel and the tent story but on a cosmic scale

ICHR is taking some baby steps in correcting history.
‘Moplah rioters’ not freedom fighters: report
387 ‘Moplah martyrs’ to be removed from the Dictionary of Martyrs of India’s Freedom Struggle

Successive 'secular' governments especially in Kerala and at the centre had been trying to white wash the 1921 Malabar riots as a 'freedom struggle'. In Kerala the expert white washers have been the communists. Their leader EMS Namboodirippad and his family were the first to run away to the then Kochi princely state when the 'freedom fighters' came looking for this Brahmin landlord comrade and his family . And it was this very same EMS Namboodirippad who later re-wrote history and said this was a 'peasent revolt'. EMS Namboodirippad is another character like our dear old Bandit-ji, with lot of myths/aura created around him and exploited by commies & his kith and kin.

consider this

Napoleon mocked the philosophers; while the bankers who extended credit for his wars mocked Napoleon.

The rule that governs this infinite hierarchy is that we mock those who we suspect can destroy our worlds someday.

Mockery then becomes a form of emotional insurance against our impotence in face a specific kind of power that can annihilate the power and talents we have carefully collected and tended to.

Critical thought could see through Napoleon's vanities, while the State's violence could destroy the bankers' capital.

Maulana -- only *Muslim* I said (angry tone)

OK, which Muslim? --- *Shia or Sunni.?*

Maulana immediately spoke --- *Sunni of course.*

I asked Maulana --- There are 2 classes in Sunni, which of them? *Muqallid*, ya non-muqallid.?

Maulana immediately spoke-- *Only mukallid will go!*

I asked again ---- Yes, there are *four in Mukallid.* Who among them will go to heaven?

Maulana said very leisurely ----

*only Hanafi*, who else?

Then I asked Maulana --- Yes, but in *Hanafi there are both Debbandi and Barelvi,* then who among them will go to heaven???..

Maulana replied----- "Brother, only my *Debabandi* are entitled to go to heaven.

I then said --- thank you very much,

but Maulana sahib..... even in debbandi there are 2.... *Hayati and Mamati* So who among them will go to heaven?

After this Maulana saheb used abusive words and walked away...!!

Do share with those who make fun of Hindu casteism!!

BTW, why would a Hindu ever want to go to heaven? Let the others all go there and we will have a heaven right here.

Just thinking loudly. Off late I am seeing strong moves from GoI on re-opening historical incidents, especially the ones which "secular" historians have managed to suppress for so long. I am talking about Partition Horrors Remembrance Day as well Moplah rioters getting chucked out from Martyr's list. I get a feeling that this is also a long term plan from BJP for the 2024 elections. I started seeing whines from the "seculars" already that "byegones should be bygones". The BJP may score more points if an "Us v/s Them" mentality sets in, and also when the common man from majority community knows the correct history. "Seculars" will really find it tough to justify their stance. The current plan of BJP, perhaps would also help them tide over the caste based split up which "seculars" are now trying to achieve.

There does seem to be a particular talent in Delhi UIDAI for screwing matters up. The latest experience I have is of trying to get the Aadhar linked to PAN. Which just does not seem to be possible if you aren't a permanent resident of India because the UIDAI only supports Indian mobile phones for OTPs, and yet after 10 years doesn't support UIDAI services via mail or via consulates abroad.

Social media (like Facebook) has actually been a game changer. And at least till now it benefited the "communals" (BJP et.al) 8). This could be the reason that current GoI is going soft on the social media. One thing I noticed is that there is lot of alternate/original research happening on India's history which did not have a way to reach common people. The main stream media and educational setup is heavily biased towards "seculars" so such works will never see the light of the day.

Another aspect which I noticed is that sites like Amazon.com (Kindle eBooks) have lots of books which generally are not available at book shops or in public libraries. Some of them are not from widely known authors, but is often written after good research. I am now going through one such book "97 blunders of Nehru", and there is another one on Gandhi's s-ex life . All of which if read by the youngsters of the day would completely take down the aura associated with the Nehru-Gandhi cabal.
Nilekani seems to be a bipartisan darling, though he's a Congressi & Murthy is a commie.
Murthy is neither a Congie nor a Commie but a businessman who will do any thing to make money and boost his self image. I had partially read his "hagiography" (I use the word after double checking its meaning). In that it is said that Murthy lost his commie leanings after he was chucked out of one communist country (Bulgaria?) unceremoniously. And then his philosophy changed to that people should be encouraged to make money, so that they can work on some scheme to give more work to people and spread that wealth. During the early 2000s when IT was just starting up in Bangalore, ToiLET used to run regular headlines like - "SM Krishna (then CM) takes a bath, Infosys' Narayanamurthy appreciates that and gives him a towel to dry up" etc. etc. That is pure propaganda by SM Krishna (then with Congress) and N. Murthy.

Union minister Narayan Rane has been arrested by Maharashtra police for saying that he would have slapped Maharashtra CM for forgetting India's year of independence.

Interesting turn in Maharashtra politics.

This guy was once a regular on runditeevee and rumour has it that he owns a hefty piece of the channel. murthy is also a self confessed commie who tried his best to get into parliament using the aap but sly khujliwal outsmarted him. the congis had earlier avoided giving him any political space or opportunity despite murthy's best efforts to make some headway.

other members of the infy board also nurse such political ambitions but want only the surefire RS seat route, none of the hustle and bustle of electoral politics for them, and they won't even consider standing as an independent because they know the result.

Not My Circus, Not My Monkeys is apt for such jokers

Arresting an union minister for a comment ! This is what happens when you treat people with kid gloves ! With such a precedent set what guarantee that the union home minister wont be arrested in People's Islamic Republic of W.Bengal on his next visit ?

Incredible how SS which wouldn't dare say or do anything to NCP or INC in the past or present never misses an opportunity to flex its muscles against a hapless BJP in MH. I wonder what is the end goal of Uddhav Thackeray ? There's no chance in hell SS will win enough seats on its own in any elections to form a government without coalition. If the INC-NCP-SS gains enough seats to form a government again, neither NCP nor INC will be keen to let SS remain in the CM seat. And by constantly attacking BJP they are ensuring that BJP permanently shuts the door on Sena unless it is Sena minus the thackerays . The only person from BJP who may throw a life jacket at the Thackerays in future is Nitin Gadkari if he ever decides to settle for the MH CM seat instead of the big seat in Delhi.

So Rane gives a statement on Udhav and gets arrested but Mamata gives similar statements on Modi and is happily there. Looks like Udhav is a Bahubali and Amit shah/Modi are turning into Nazuk Kalis.

this is what the late Kalyan Singh once said

A king whose enmity no one fears and whose friendship brings no benefit is totally worthless

are we headed in that direction..........,

enormously powerful with 303 seats but has absolutely no clue on how to use the gift that was handed to him again for the second time, with such high hopes and expectations...

is there some sort of a master plan that has not yet been revealed or what

OTOH, yogi seems to be doing very well on his own in the badlands of UP

Ambar ji, while it is a possibility, it is in no way a probability.

The ordinary Marathi manoos, with great inbuilt pride in the great Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj, has always admired, and voted, for a strong regional leader.

And while they are very patriotic towards desh, they are also particular about local issues and demanding benefits they feel are their rights (especially over neighboring states)

They will certainly not vote for a leader perceived to be weak.

Added later - I still well remember the strong undercurrent of resentment in the shiv sena when Modi was given the title of Hindu Hriday Samrat even while Balasaheb Thackeray was alive.

I have even seen the mild disapproval in my own extended family and friends circle..

The SS might well be trying to get back that identity by assuming that Modi is going down the softer 'Sabka Saath' route and being aware that they need to be distinguishable from the NCP

JMT of course

Manishji, while what you say about MH is true for every state in India where voters prefer strong leaders over weak ones and are willing to overlook things like incompetence, corruption, nepotism etc. trouble for Uddhav Thackeray is MH has several such strongmen and multiple parties with strong political base. SS is unlikely to make a dent on INC or NCPs vote base outside of Mumbai-Pune-Thane region, BJP will remain the dark horse but all 4 major parties will need atleast one partner to form a coalition. Uddhav's only chance of holding on to his CM chair is if SS manages to gather more seats than INC and NCP or the more likely scenario of him rejoining a coalition with BJP where SS calls all the shots including CMship. If BJP agrees to such an arrangement then they deserve what they get.

I'll admit i am surprised about 2 things - one, how long the MVA government has lasted and that too with little to no squabbling among partners and two, BJP's failure to break away a faction from SS given how weak and politically vulnerable Uddhav looked in his early days.
