Tamil Muslim Lahori logic on display here:
It is the inability of the police to make security arrangements that led to people getting violent,” Ansari said.
If there were 100,000 armed policemen standing to protect the embassy, the same Ansari $%@^ would have said:
It is the huge presence of unwarranted numbers of armed police that led to people getting violent,” Ansari said.

And slowly, the outline of the caliphate taking shape all over shows glimpses:
On Friday, announcements were made in all important mosques in the city urging people to come out and support the protest. “A large number of people attend morning prayers on Fridays. We distributed pamphlets and talked about the protest. So we got a very good response,” said Sirajjuddin, another protester. The idea was to hold protests in 22 different places in the State, and five places in the city. Later, it was decided to organise one protest, he said.

right, the IT/VITY will gasp in mock horror for a few days, and then go back to "progress" and "development" require "sacrifice" of "outdated ideas". haven't we all been there, seen that, lamented it, and then went back with tail tucked in between the two sticks???

whatever.

this Chennai tamasha's effect will last perhaps a week. even that is not guaranteed. after-all, if recent Assam events have now become a distant memory for the Indian media, this chennai "riots" is like small bush compared to that mountain.

It is concerted.. Kasargod, Assam, various cities in UP, Mumbai, Bangalore and other cities, now Chennai.. With MHA firmly in Rajmata's hands, these guys seem to be trying hard to incite a flash. This also shows that in case of confrontation, how concerted their actions would be throughout India. Is this aman ki asha product of this blackmail?

More rioting in Chennai today.

It is surprising that yesterday, in spite of specific intelligence warning that the planned peace protesters will attack the consulate, there was only light concentration of police which was easily overwhelmed. Unfortunatley, the American consulate is smack in the middle of a 'sensitive' area. The released rioters have come back today. A large number of people have been transported from the suburbs and many of them were strategically placed on the Anna Flyover which is a stone's throw away (pun intended).

The TMMK (Tamilnadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam, TN Muslim Development Group)which is spearheading the agitation has a poll alliance with AIADMK.

Police had been warned in advance, claim protestors - The Hindu
Muslim groups who staged an angry protest outside the U.S. Consulate at Gemini Circle on Friday afternoon, taking police and passers-by by complete surprise, claimed they had informed the police about their plans to hold a demonstration outside the building.

M. Thamimun Ansari, a functionary of the Tamil Muslim Munnetra Kazhagham, which organised the protest, said there were less than 10 policemen with barricades and they were unable to handle the protesters. “We had already informed the police that there will be at least 7,000 people gathering at the Thousand Lights mosque at 4 p.m. But when we came here, we saw not even ten policemen. It is the inability of the police to make security arrangements that led to people getting violent,” Ansari said.{I don't know why lack of policemen should make the protestors violent epecially when Islam means Peace !}

Both policemen as well as onlookers were equally stunned by how easily the protestors managed to get close to the guarded consulate building. “This has never happened before. Larger groups marching towards the consulate have earlier been stopped near the Thousand Lights signal,” said a security guard at the consulate.

He said that initially, a group of people in a car stopped on the opposite side of the Consulate and then charged towards the building. “They tried to get inside and were shouting slogans. The few policemen who were here tried to snatch the stones from them, but they had done enough damage,” he said.

The stretch between Royapettah signal and Thousand Lights mosque was filled for almost two hours with protesters raising slogans in Tamil and English against ‘freedom that hurt religious sentiments.’

A senior police official explained that police personnel from Egmore, Mylapore and Triplicane were immediately rushed to the spot to control the situation. Besides burning U.S flags and posters with pictures of President Obama, protesters broke glass panels of the security cabins and damaged the entrance to the visa section. Traffic moved at snail’s pace on Anna Salai, Whites Road and Royapettah.

The protest was organised to condemn the film ‘Innocence of Muslims,’ released on YouTube a few days ago. The film, created in the U.S., is known to ridicule the Prophet. “I have not seen the film but I am hurt by the idea. The Prophet is the ideal man for us and we will not tolerate any insult to him,” said Anees, a participant in the protest.

Over the last two days, protests against the film have been raging in Libya, Lebanon, Iran, Yemen, Egypt and Sudan, but Chennai is first city in India to witness protests. “Most of us have not seen the trailer, we don’t even want to. People should not be allowed to make films that ridicule beliefs and great men,” said Basheer P. a college student who had come with his friends from Tambaram. “We want the United States to find out details about its funding and arrest the people who are involved in its making,” he said.

Kudankulam is a different story altogether - she is trying to extract benefits from Centre and at the same time crackdown when needed.

This could be something else and only JJ & gang will have the answer to that - or that Chennai police made a cock up (which I think is unlikely).

Also as soon as the Libya attack news broke - IB issued alert and requested additional security to be placed on US embassies/consulates.

In any case, to leave the US consulate (or for that matter any other consulate including the much reviled Sri Lankan consulate) not protected well enough especially when there was specific intelligence report cannot be condoned. If she allowed this to happen, she was playing with a huge fire, for none can predict how such emotional demonstrations would end up as. I think her alliance party told her it would be a token protest even as they were planning a more violent one. In any case, the Chennai Police failed miserably for not keeping enough force near a double sensitive area, Thousand Lights mosque on the one side and the US consulate on the other and that was a Friday afternnon as well.

Koodankulam is a very different case.

The intelligence is not really in question. It is the action taken based on that intelligence that matters. We have Kashmir police stopping some protestors while separatist leaders were placed under house arrest. In Tamil Nadu, this was not the case. It gives an interesting insight into the current dispensation. Also, the soft handedness to towards Tamil separatists is not a good omen. Hope they are not as compromised as they appear to be.

In the Shankaracharya's case, what ever information (nothing official about it;)) I got was that it was more because of some business relationships going sore. It was certainly not that Amma picked up Shankaracharya because he was a Hindu saint or holy (?) person.

In Tamil Nadu the police does have a good way to house rioters. They may even identify Marriage Halls for this as well. The idea is that in case of large arrests are expected, they would for sure find a place to move the arrested people :). A police station lock up cannot hold so much people. And there are legal provisions to make a building to a temporary prison. So they are also not doing any thing illegal.

But this time it could be a different tactics. Just look at the impact visually and psychologically on the otherwise inert, eager to be anti-communal voices in the general populations. I welcome what is being allowed to happen, for whatever calculations they have in mind from the authority/political leadership side.

So, there's a second innings of this as well? Strange. Cannot imagine the disruption to traffic at that busy area. And yes, with the Thousand Lights mosque just a few minutes walk from the consulate, one would have thought the supply of stone-throwing troops would come from there and not some random 'New College' place. Strange again. When I first heard that a US consulate in India was attacked (and had not read the news), I was guessing Hyderabad or Mumbai, with its larger concentration of Muslims and the history of rioting. Those places are calm but Chennai (!) gets riled up.

Added later: Just googled 'New College'. It is within a stone's throw of Thousand Lights mosque but a bit further away from the Consulate.

Both are unpardonable and the way the attack was conducted, it appears that it was well planned. There was a diversionary attack on one side and another one on the other side while stones were pelted from atop the Anna Flyover. Lucky, there was no more serious issue as it could easily have been done with more sinister weapons than mere stones. And, riot police took some time to arrive. In the meanwhile, some of these TMMK cadres tried to scale over the compound taking advantage of the confusion, the lack of police and the overwhelmed Consulate security guards. I have always seen a 'Vajra' riot van stationed at the consulate. Where was that yesterday ? As I said before, a responsible CM does not play so casually with rage of this variety, if indeed she merely 'took advantage of the situation' as you say.

^^^ I have to agree with the sentiment. I have no idea who planned the riot, or how it was planned, but the fact that this took place at all, and that too at such a central location in Chennai is not a good sign. A genie has escaped the bottle. People can correct me but I have no recollection of any Muslim-based rioting in Chennai for a while, atleast in the city an suburbs.

P.S: Not to mention, there is a well-known all-girls' high school right next door to the consulate...what about their safety? How could they get home with all the rioting (unless the school was tipped off and was let out early).

Response to post below: I know central TN had problems with the bomb blast targeting Advani in mid-90s? Well aware of that. But Chennai is a first.

Though Chennai has remained calm as far as this type of violence is concerned, the rest of TN has not been so fortunate. We all know of the Coimbatore blasts targetting Advani. He has been repeatedly targetted a few times whenever he visited TN, the latest being in Madurai a few months back. South TN has seen a number of terrorist Islamic outfits. They have also conducted bomb attacks on RSS & BJP offices and leaders, including at least twice in Chennai. So, it is like embers.

That's why it is not a good idea for a CM to even 'exploit' the sentiments for her own reasons.

Sridhar ji, Its the plausible why of a situation, not trying to justify it. While it does bring out the police thinking is still regional, (since Chennai hasn't seen this kind of violence more often, they aren't prepared,) the problem is the same across India, the nature of these religious riot blips across the nation in recent times suggest planned dry runs, or 'show of strength'; each such successful show inspires the same in other parts of the country

In this case, giving credit to Amma will rob it off the religious protesters

After my discussions with SHQ over the years about monotheism, its vision of world domination and uncompromising bigotry, and how the monotheists operate in relation to other people (conversions, over-breeding, love jihad, terrorism, temple breaking, hate literature about the pagans, etc.), she is now Veer Savarkar incarnate.

What I have found is that while in the home of the monotheists, discussions about infidels and pagans and how to screw them are every-day affair, in Hindu homes, parents only talk about studies and jobs. So the knowledge about threats to the faith and race doesn't get transmitted to the rest of the family.

Hindu men are loathe to talke about this aspect at all to their wife and kids, and then have their knickers in a twist when their daughter elopes with a Muslim or becomes a convert at the church. Children and women remain clueless about the wider world of monotheists and their behaviour.
In my case, SHQ always had an independent mind. And anybody with a critical mind can easily see the nature of the beast for themselves. She was still rather ambivalent (a lifetime of p-sec brainwashing does have its effects), but a couple of instances of pointing out blatant media bias, etc. were enough to do the trick.

Hindus have a rather unique way of reacting to external threats. During the times of Buddhist dominance, the Hindu reaction was to frighten aam Hindu janta away from Buddhists by saying "you will be born as a jackal, then a vulture, then a cur etc. etc. if you consort with Buddhists" or something to that effect. I've heard stories from my father about how his elders would freak out if he told them he went to a Muslim's home. "Go take a bath at once." While this might seem like extreme bigotry and prejudice, it was simply a reaction to an existential threat. The wrong reaction, I'd say. Adi Sankara's reasoning went much further with reclaiming India for the Hindu fold than all the scare-mongering of the prior ages.

By all means, talk to your SHQs and children about the beast(s) running rampant. It's not a lost cause. Learn to use data points strategically, and don't come off looking like a bigot. Our ancestors did have a survivalist gene firmly implanted in their gene sequences. It's been passed down faithfully, I can assure you.

We do have existing systems that denigrate individuals who practice unhealthy lifestyles. Traditionally, people who did not bath daily, consume liquor & meat where treated as inferior. Anyone irrespective of religion would be treated as unwanted if s/he exhibited these characteristics. The foreigners were termed mlechhas because of their unhealthy habits. Moreover killing others for God was a totally alien practice for Indian civilization. These customs although less popular prevent a lot of people from converting. Some people look down upon Christianity as a sect propogating vice (wine is used for church rituals).

The Ghaziabad situation has been pretty grom from what I understand - not much attention in the mainstream press, though... is TV news covering this?

These rioters were actually moving towards the residential areas of the police folks, according to the report below.

Six die as police open fire at crowd protesting against burning of Quran in Ghaziabad
Ghaziabad: Six people were killed as police opened fire to break up a rampaging mob denouncing the desecration of a holy book, police and witnesses said Saturday.

The violence erupted around 7 p.m. Friday in Masuri area of Ghaziabad district adjoining Delhi.

The dead were identified by authorities as Asif, Waheed, Luckman, Amir, Wasim and Hayat. Two of them belonged to Meerut.

Three policemen were also critically injured in the violence. One of them almost had his head severed with a sharp-edged weapon.

According to Divisional Commissioner Mratyunjaya Narain, some "anti-social elements" in the mob started the violence after hundreds marched to the police station to complain against the desecration.

Even as the community leaders and police were discussing the modalities of the complaint, a section of the crowd went on the rampage, burning vehicles parked in the police station, police said.

Some people also fired at policemen, burnt the police barracks and mess, and moved towards the police residential premises.

The police then restored to firing.

Hundreds also blocked traffic on National Highway 24, burnt some private and public vehicles, and allegedly molested some women passengers.

The situation came under control only around midnight Friday, when police found bodies of the six victims.

Violence starting at the evening, critically injured policeman one with neck injury, marching to police station and then attacking the police while discussions are 'ongoing', firing at police, burning police barracks and mess, attacking residential quarters, block traffic, burning vehicles, molesting women, violence ending past midnight - more like rowdy radical Islamic mobs rampaging and pillaging residential areas.

The Govt. hands are perhaps tied with votebanks while media is silent for the sake of perhaps religious peace.

Nope. Sooner than later the police will take things in to their own hands, orders or no orders.

In AP there are few incidents in the past few weeks that show the trend. A DIG did kshudra puja against another DIG. An SP tried to arrest another. A head constable tied down aCI/SP for harassing him etc.

Imagine what will the police do if their kin are hurt by these angry mobs.

Bji's rashtra apparatus will turn against the Adharmics. All it requires is another Q'burning like incident

Yup...one can safely guess as to how the Ghaziabad police will react towards "certain minorities" next time they try to show their true colours during a communal clash. The lower rung which faced this kind of direct attack on their kin and saw their fellow jawan almost being beheaded will surely loose control the next time a provocation occurs.

By these senseless acts, the IMs of these Dar-ul-Islams are ensuring that the police wont be around to help them( since they already burnt the bridges with them) when they might really need them

And the report says 5L compensation to the 5 dead rioters while nothing for the policemen. One can imagine the anger which would be building up in the force there

they are not "senseless". there is clear sense and logic in these activities.

it is a show of "Allah's strength". a call for the Ummah to submerge in the ocean of Allah. it is a periodic "reaffirmation" of faith and "Allah's victorious designs". it sends the message of Kafir weakness and Ummah strength.

it is the psychology of a highly aggressive virus-type creature.

But, in the TOI post much of what happened, including the molestation of women passengers has been taken off. See http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city ... 413096.cms and compare with http://twocircles.net/2012sep15/six_die ... clash.html

People are attributing too much Chanakianness to Amma....

Amma was almost taken out by factions within the Sasi gang. She was alerted by none other than Modi.... Ever since that incident Amma has gone extremely soft on groups who could be used to take her out.. There is nothing she will gain out of this... Although the TMMK is their ally the average abdul in Chennai votes for Dr. Artiste's party only... This used to be his Son's own constituency ...Most likely the Cops felt this will be a peaceful protest only... There are several protests done by the Commies and the same groups b4 the US embassy in the past..But none of them got out of hand...

Releasing the Rioters is a very bad precedent..Now these guys will interpret this as Govt/Police force as weekness... The reason Chennai was more comparitively Riot free was it did not have historical baggage on fights between Hindus/ROP. However the same is not true for Coimbatore where the cause of 98 riots initated in an area called "Kotai---Medu" which was an old Fort of Hyder Ali and was used during his Assault on Kerala...To this date the people who live in that area acknowledge their lineage to him.. The Coimbatore incident did not happen suddenly..There were tensions simmering for several decades...Madurai also has similar history.

BTW, None of JJ Pro newspapers did report this.

Two police personnel are battling for their lives in hospital after being injured in the violence in the Masuri area of Ghaziabad on Friday. They were identified as head constable Roop Chand and constable Ramesh Chand. "Out of six persons, three persons died of bullet injuries, including one minor who got one bullet in his leg and could not get medical treatment on time. Two others died when they were hit with blunt objects," SSP Prashant Kumar told TOI.

At a joint briefing with Ghaziabad district magistrate Aparna Upadhyay, the SSP confirmed that some locals had found a defaced religious book and gone to Masuri police station in the evening to file a complaint. "Along with them, some bad elements also entered the police station around 6:30 pm. When the police was holding talks with them, hundreds of armed men barged in. Some went up to the terrace while many surrounded the police station. It was a horrible sight. The rioters brutally thrashed the policemen, pelted stones and set vehicles on fire," the DM said.

A senior cop said: "The chain of events indicate the rioting, attack on police and other things did not occur all of a sudden but was a result of a well thoughtout and planned conspiracy."

This is the key. Now anyone can create havoc in societies with Muslims.

All one have to do is to create/find/resurrect a reason (anniversaries will work too) and then instigate riots along with Muslims and then do their business under that chaos.

This is what Islam brought to humanity. A opied to human consciousness to be distructive without any repercussions. Perhaps Pakistan epitomizes this phenomenon. They think their actions have no consequences.
