2020 Strategic and Political Analysis-1
Re: 2020 Strategic and Political Analysis-1
Very good questions, nandakumar. I think posters are focusing on an objective and not the procedure. "Free temples from state control" is an objective. It doesn't explain how to go about it.
I think this government has shown the ability to implement solutions to seemingly intractable long term political issues. For example, it eliminated the Article 370 problem. It eliminated the long standing issue with giving the ability to do transfer of populations, through CAA. In general, where this government lacks in broad competence at day to day business due to a weak bench strength in the cabinet, it makes up for with outstanding leadership at the top to fix long standing political issues, of which temple control is one.
Any solution to a complex problem either requires a genius level legal procedure (e.g. solution to Article 370), or a base of case law that enables it to be dismantled with progressively faster speed. In the case of the temple control issue, as far as I can tell, the center is taking the latter approach, using useful case law to proceed, and then bring about a national law through its rights over the concurrent list and a group of willing states who have already taken the first step.
One thing people forget is that this government has already done more to fix outstanding political issues from the foundation of the modern Indian state, than any other. It has fixed Art 370 and the transfer of populations issue by enabling a fast track to non-Muslims to become citizens. Art 370 was literally the reason BJP's predecessor was founded - SP Mukherjee quit the Congress protesting it, and Ambedkar was opposed to it as well.
There's no record of anyone here guessing how the government went about dismantling Art 370. I'm not talking about the general idea, but the exact process of implementing a legally sound mechanism that permanently changed the future of erstwhile J&K. They don't lack for knowledge of history or the resolve to fix long standing mistakes of the past. Let them work out this one too.

And not everything has to be done and can be done in next 5 minutes. Where people confuse (credit to our Jnu led ncrt education), this govt has the right intention (against say khangress/communist) to do the right thing. It may or may not have it in priority or have it in priority but lacks resources, or it has both but after careful consideration concludes that it will be very very bad to implement just now (losses at many fronts, unseen not unknown enemies wait to hurt).
You can clearly see that playing out in present China standoff. They have taken all the right decisions, without sacrificing any long term Indian interest.

Re: 2020 Strategic and Political Analysis-1
Temples could be managed by trust independent of government controls. Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra maybe a good starting point.
To give a short answer why BJP is not interested in freeing up government control could be two reasons. First it doesn't translate into votes. Temple control issue is a demand from a smaller section of hindus who understand the current issues and future problems. Aam Aadmi may not understand all the complexities, implications, higher level civilization war going behind the scenes. Second is that BJP itself as part of government don't want to give up the power (as mentioned in earlier post of their attempts in Gujrat).
I believe this legislation will be much easier to pass through in both houses compared to some other legislation they already succeeded.

It is not enough to say , Oh, let the Hindus manage it'. The real question what would be the contours of a governance structure under an alternative dispensation? What if there is a parallel election along with the election to the legislative assembly, would the results be any different? I grant that there are minority religion voters in a every constituency. But barring a few exceptions would the results be any different?

I fervently hope so. Living in TN as I do, I have seen from close quarters how temple lands and income therefrom have been gobbled up by mid level politicians in innumerable small towns and villages. The situation of temples as far as small towns are concerned are at least somewhat better with daily rituals and festivals bring performed with contributions on an ad hoc basis. But in villages, it is terrible with many of them being abandoned.Suraj wrote:Very good questions, nandakumar. I think posters are focusing on an objective and not the procedure. The problem needs to be solved. Not sure how and when it will be. In GJ, for decades many temples are literally burning through money by having extravagant events to having unnecessary luxuries that take away spirit of being sadhu. All that just to have kitties emptied out on yearly basis to keep politicians away. However, EJs turn around and use that as a weapon by pointing out how these temples are spending money and not helping you. Temple trusts know everything but are in helpless manner waiting for a solution. I always get into the argument with them that it's their own fault that they aren't openly discussing issues being faced to their followers. Bhajans won't get you through this. Real issues need to be discussed in front of the followers and they need to educated. Go to YouTube and turn on good indic video for 30 minutes every week for them to watch.

Congress teams up with Islamists and PETA to attack columnist Shefali Vaidya over Bakri Eid goat sacrifice controversy
https://www.opindia.com/2020/07/shefali ... s-attacks/
Congress’s online magazine for ‘youth’ Yuva Desh and Islamists joined hands with PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) to attack and hurl personal abuses at columnist Shefali Vaidya after she asked the ‘animal rights group’ to be as vocal about goat sacrifice on Bakri Eid as it is about Hindu festivals.
Netizens expose PETA India’s hypocrisy over conferring awards on people who have a history of promoting animal slaughter and abuse
https://www.opindia.com/2020/07/peta-in ... habandhan/
But now, it appears PETA India has found another target. And it is columnist Shefali Vaidya. The NGO in cohorts with Congress and left-liberal trolls has embarked upon a concerted campaign against the columnist for calling out the hypocrisy of the supposed animal rights organisation with regards to Eid where animals are slaughtered and anti-cow leather campaign in times of Rakshabandhan.
However, the campaign against Shefali Vaidya has backfired on them terribly as netizens used the opportunity to expose their hypocrisy. It soon became evident that PETA India is more concerned about the criticism it faces on social media than actual physical attacks on its workers by Islamist mobs.

The Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health (DISH), which functions under the Labour and Employment department, issued closure notices to Vishal Fabrics, having its plant at Dholi, and Shri Shakti Chemicals, having its unit at Vatva.
Four workers died at Vishal Fabrics on Saturday when they entered the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) tank for cleaning it without any proper safety equipment. Their dead bodies were recovered from the tank by the authorities.
At Shri Shakti Chemicals, two workers died because of asphyxiation in a chemical vessel on Friday. In this case too, safety measures were not followed.

India to create its first overseas oil stockpile in US
Sanjay Dutta
Jul 17, 2020
NEW DELHI: India is moving to store oil in the US, the first time world’s third-largest oil guzzler is creating an emergency reserve abroad to take advantage of low prices and guard against possible supply disruptions.
“We have signed a MoU to begin co-operation on strategic petroleum reserves. We are also in an advanced stage of discussion for storing crude oil in US strategic petroleum reserve to increase India’s strategic oil stockpile,” oil minister Dharmendra Pradhan said after co-chairing the second India-US strategic energy partnership talks with his US energy secretary Dan Brouillette on Friday.
The move comes amid India’s deadly border standoff with China in Ladakh and signals New Delhi and Washington deepening their strategic bonding beyond defence. The US has emerged as India’s sixth-largest oil supplier since the first US crude shipment reached Paradip in Odisha in October 2017.
There are two options on the table, sources familiar with the discussions told TOI. First one is to lease caverns with crude stockpile for a specific period of time when prices are low. The second one is to lease capacity and buy oil separately as and when prices drop to a level expected to yield handsome arbitrage later.
The issue of who or how much oil will be brought for storage is still open. State-run refiners such as IndianOil, which has term contract for US oil, could buy the oil. Alternatively, the government can pay for the oil as it did while filling up the underground strategic storages when oil prices began sliding in March, as reported by TOI on May 5.
India's daily oil consumption stood at 4.5 million barrels/day before the Coronavirus pandemic hit demand. It has strategic underground storage of over 5 million tonne, or about 38 million barrels, good enough for 9-10 days at current consumption rate. In comparison, the US has the world’s largest storage at 714 million barrels.
The stored oil can be sold at a profit when prices rise or brought to India for refining, depending upon what makes more economic sense or will reduce the cost of crude for India. “It will all depend on the commercial terms that are finalised. It could be a mix of the two (options),” one official said, adding that the overseas storage will cushion India’s oil supplies from disruptions till the expansion of domestic storage capacity is completed.
The two sides also signed a slew of MoUs ranging from emerging fuels such as hydrogen as well as energy efficiency and smart grid.
According to the joint statement, the MoUs are:
* MoU between the US Department of Energy and the Indian Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas concerning cooperation on Strategic Petroleum Reserves.
* MoU between the US Agency for International Development (USAID) with Indian Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioners (ISHRAE) for professional skill development for practitioners on energy-efficient design of air conditioning systems.
* MoU between EESL, NTPC, and USAID for retrofit of buildings to improve indoor air quality, safety, and efficiency.
* USAID announced partnership with Power System Operation Corporation (POSOCO) to develop India’s National Open Access Registry (NOAR).
* Statement of Intent between the US Department of State and India’s Ministry of Power under the Flexible Resources Initiative of the US-India Clean Energy Finance Task Force to enhance the flexibility and robustness of India's grid to support the country's energy transition and mobilize the private investment to deliver reliable, low-cost power for the people of India.
* The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (USA) and the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission in India are working to conclude an agreement to share best practices for regulating electricity and developing electricity markets.
* The US Department of Commerce launched an Energy Industry Working Group for India under the Asia EDGE initiative to facilitate private sector connections and ideas for US-India energy cooperation, including on innovative and disruptive technologies.
* USTDA is supporting energy access and efficiency in India through recently funded projects to implement virtual pipeline infrastructure with Arush Gas Technology Services (AGTS) and carbon capture and utilization technologies in refineries with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL).
* Release of a “Strategic Roadmap of Smart Grid Knowledge Centre to become a “Global Centre of Excellence in Smart Grids” at an industry round table held on the sidelines of the Power and Energy Efficiency pillar meeting, sponsored by the Ministry of Power of India and USAID.
Under the US-India Gas Task Force:
* MoU between the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and Petroleum Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) on information exchange in oil & gas regulatory frameworks.
* MoU between Bloom Energy and Indian Oil on fuel cell technology.
* Letter of Cooperation among ExxonMobil, Chart Industries IOCL on stimulating LNG demand through a virtual pipeline network and manufacturing and use of ISO containers in India.
* MoU between Agility Fuel Solutions LLC and Indrapastha Gas Limited (IGL) to explore the viability, usefulness, and feasibility of advanced clean fuel systems including Type IV cylinders in India.
* MoU between Gasway USA, Inc and Indrapastha Gas Limited (IGL) to explore the feasibility of a pilot virtual gas pipeline project.
* ExxonMobil and GAIL have made significant progress on the MOU they signed in 2019 to enhance India’s natural gas access and are engaged in a commercial dialogue to advance LNG as fuel in heavy commercial vehicles

Besides, the CJI also directed petitioner Upadhyay to present his case before the probe committee and rejected the constitution of a SIT. Moreover, he sought for a report on all bail orders after learning that the gangster was earlier released on bail. “This is a failure of an institution where he was released on bail and did this. We need a report on such bail orders,” CJI SA Bobde remarked.

Outrage Over Alleged Rape-Murder Of Hindu Girl By Muslim Men In North Bengal, Locals Slam ‘Cover-Up’
https://swarajyamag.com/news-brief/outr ... m-cover-up
The alleged rape and murder of a 16-year-old Hindu girl belonging to the indigenous Rajbongshi community at Chopra town of Uttar Dinajpur district in North Bengal has sparked angry agitations in the state.
According to local people in Chopra, a small town that lies in the narrowest point (called the chicken’s neck) of Bengal and borders Bangladesh, the girl had gone missing from her home late Saturday evening.
She was found in a half-nude and unconscious state with bruise marks and cuts about 700 metres from her home off a highway on Sunday morning.
The case took a new turn on Monday noon when the body of a Muslim boy who was a classmate of the accused was found at a spot near the place where the girl’s body was recovered from. The boy’s body also bore injury marks.
The recovery of the boy’s body has inflamed passions in Chopra, a Hindu-majority town surrounded by overwhelmingly Muslim-majority villages. Uttar Dinajpur has, over the decades, turned into a Muslim-majority district, thanks to massive illegal influx of Muslims from neighbouring Bangladesh.

It has happen in Gandhi family only.
*Rajiv Gandhi born on 20th August 1944, becomes PM in 1984 , Assassinated on 21st May 1991 and Rajiv Gandhi Foundation established on 21st June 1991.
*A grieving wife was able to incorporate a trust within 30 days from the date of death of her husband.*
In those days, any Trust or Section 25 Company (now it is Section 8 Company) took more than a month to be founded. *It is possible that due to the name and influence that it carried, Rajiv Gandhi Foundation would have taken a bit lesser, but not less than 20-25 days.*
However, *it is intriguing that even before the ashes of her husband had cooled down, she was able to discuss the Trust Deed and get in people to sign the documents.*
I am not churning any conspiracy theory that the idea of foundation was created before the death of Rajiv Gandhi.
*But it is unimaginable that Sonia could initiate all this and also get it done within a month even when she supposedly had no power and no inclination in public life, as is widely publicised and what people are made to believe.*
Even a business family creates a trust in memory of their patriarch / matriarch / founder atleast a few months after the death of the said person.
*Getting the NGO registered exactly 30 days after the death of Rajiv Gandhi is intriguing for reasons I have listed above and also shatters the myth that Sonia was not interested in power.*
*This is further reinforced when in his maiden budget speech on 24th July, 1991( yes 1 month and 3 days after date of formation of Rajiv Gandhi Foundation) Manmohan Singh allocated Rs. 100 crores to RGF.*
*How can that happen so quickly, if the widow of the former PM was grieving and not interested in politics or power or public life?*
*Budget making process takes atleast a month.*
*How could a grieving widow pull all strings and influence the FM and PM to transfer Rs. 100 crores of public money to her personal fiefdom, if she was then away from politics, power, and public life?*
*This is more than what meets the eye.*

The Uddhav Thackeray led Maharashtra government in a resolution has approved the payment of Rs 50,000 per year to every Bombay High Court judge for buying spectacles, Press Trust of India has reported.
As per the resolution passed on 10 July, even the dependant family members of the judges like spouse and children can buy glasses and spend money on their maintenance from this amount.
As per reports, the Chief Justice of Bombay High Court had first raised the issue of this reimbursement with the erstwhile chief secretary Ajoy Mehta about six months ago. After a bit of negotiations, the amount of Rs 50,000 was agreed between the parties.
The Bombay High Court currently has 67 sitting judges which translates into an annual expense of Rs 33.5 lakh on the judges' spectacle allowance.

CR Patil speaks after taking over office of Gujarat BJP chief
https://www.deshgujarat.com/2020/07/21/ ... bjp-chief/
Gandhinagar: New President of Gujarat unit of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Navsari Lok Sabha MP CR Patil today after assuming charge of the post at State party headquarters ‘Kamalam’ said party’s good will be his only criteria while making a decision. He said he would not refrain to take strong decision when something is going against party’s good. Patil said he wishes to add innovations and use technology, among other things for making Gujarat BJP organisation as a model organisation.
CR Patil addressing the party leaders after assuming post said:
-Handing over responsibility is a process. I have been here in this auditorium but I would sit in the audience somewhere in a corner. Today I have been given place on the stage for the first time and the place is that of party president.
I did a job in police for 15 years and cultivated habit of discipline, and in one of Sangh (RSS) sessions, I had learnt that one should never think that I am capable and therefore I should be assigned responsibility. One should think that I will be capable to owe responsibility assigned to me.
-There’s no form filing, no queue to become party president in our system. Our party leaders keep watch and make selection to assign responsibilities.
-Covid-19 situation is an opportunity to serve. A crisis can be converted to opportunity through service. None Surat BJP worker was sitting at home during the pandemic and was out to serve. People do expect BJP worker to serve. They believe in capacity of BJP men and therefore they have expectation from BJP men. Congress was not visible during pandemic because people also don’t have expectations from them.
-Conventional farm practice of lifting water in rural farms has bee replaced with technology and it is well-proven that technology has brought in efficiency. Technology can be immensely helpful ……. There was a time that during party meeting, PM Narendra Modi would ask party men whether they have social media accounts of own. Then he would announce a break in parliamentary meeting and ask party men to go and open their social media accounts first before resuming the meeting.
-There’s a book by an English author that has list of 197 points, using which a stable government can be overthrown through non – violent efforts. Look at Rahul Gandhi’s statements. They plant negativity in section of people. If by doing agitation against CAA, the agitators at Shahinbaug in Delhi block a main road, the people instead of complaining against agitators, may complain against the government for not kicking agitators out. A book contains 197 points to overthrow a government, but if we do reverse of that, none can derail the government.
-We aim at making Gujarat BJP organisation as a model organisation for party units countrywide, same way as Gujarat government’s governance model is admired as Gujarat model.
-We may leverage maximum by taking government schemes to the people.

‘The way Urban Naxals protect terrorists, they now protect movie mafia’: Kangana Ranaut hits out on Anurag Kashyap, Swara Bhaskar
OpIndia Staff | 21 July, 2020
Actress Kangana Ranaut has stirred the hornet’s nest by hitting out at the vicious lobby and movie mafia that had monopolised the film industry, post the untimely demise of Sushant Singh Rajput. She has been vocal about favouritism and nepotism in the industry. Since her stand against nepotism has gained popular support, the particular ‘gangs’ and their stooges have sprung up to dismiss Kangana’s claims. Kangana has been under a barrage of attacks from all sides.
In an interview with the Republic TV, Kangana Ranaut had alleged that the Bollywood industry has several ‘bootlicking outsiders’ who suck up to those that reap the benefits of nepotism. “Bootlickers face no problem in any part of the world. In Bollywood, they include the likes of Taapsee Pannu and Swara Bhaskar. When I was fighting for their rights, they stood against me,” Kangana emphasised.
She added that the kind of movies that these ‘bootlickers’ take part in fell in the category of feature films, the trend of which was started by her in 2014 with the movie ‘Queen’. “They call me extremist. They say that my experience in life is weird. They claim that I am jobless and talk against nepotism because I do not get work. And these comments are made by outsiders like Taapsee Pannu and Swara Bhaskar for whom I fight. Bootlickers indeed face no problem anywhere,” she remarked.
Her comments did not go down well with Swara Bhaskar who then mocked the ‘Manikarnika’ actress on Twitter. Bhaskar wrote, “Pather Panchali movie which gave birth to the parallel cinema in India was started in 1955 by Kangana. In 2013, she initiated the trend of feminist films with the movie Queen. But, most importantly, she got us independence in 1947. I am an ignorant yet an outsider, reaping the benefits of bootlicking “
Kangana Ranaut stumps Swara Bhaskar
Through her tweet, Swara Bhaskar suggested that Kangana has been taking ‘undue credit’ by claiming that she was the frontrunner of feminist films and parallel cinema. However, the latter then responded by conceding that while such films were made during the golden era of Bollywood, it eventually died out after the underworld turned the industry into a stinking gutter. She added that the revival of such films was indeed her initiative which began in 2014.
Kangana emphasised, “None of you were born in the golden era of Indian cinema, after Gangsters mafias and Dons took over the industry it became big stinking gutter and feminism and parallel cinema awakening happened with Queen 2014 if not please correct us when it happened?”
Kangana’s response to Anurag Kashyap
Citing a ‘dangerous’ interview that was aired just after the release of Manikarnika, director Anurag Kashyap went on a hysterical tirade against her. He claimed, “The addiction of success misleads everyone, including insiders and outsiders. See me, be like me. I have never seen Kangana make these comments before 2014. Anyone who disagrees with her now becomes a bootlicker.” He then accused her of cutting out the role of crew members and co-actors. “Everyone who worked with her before now runs away from her,” Kashyap claimed.
He added that Kangana is now alone is being exploited by fake people, while none who are close to her are being able to see what is happening with her. In a veiled ‘warning’, Kashyap wrote to Kangana that everyone is using her and even her family is not able to see and do anything about it.
She responded, “Here is mini Mahesh Bhatt telling Kangana she is all alone and surrounded by fake people who are using her, anti-nationals, urban Naxals the way they protect terrorists now protecting movie mafia.” It is notable here that Kangana had earlier spoken about how Mahesh Bhat and Javed Akhtar had tried to emotionally harass her, and also hinting that some powerful persons in the industry work actively to drive some artists to commit suicide.
Kangana Ranaut lambasts ‘movie mafia’
Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut speaking to Republic Media Network’s Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami had opened up on the latest controversy over the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput and the role of the ‘movie mafia’ behind the systematic discrimination in the movie industry which could have resulted in the death of the 34-year-old actor. Earlier, the actress had called out the stooges of the movie mafia who dawn the cloak of journalists to carry out ’emotional, psychological & mental lynching.’

Every citizen should be able to defend and arm. It's clear that govt can't clear arms off the street. Tax payers should be able to arrange for their own safety just like they have to arrange for everything else from good education to healthcare to water to paying of taxes to paying bribes.

Read this with Delay in framing CAA rules by Ministry of Home Affairs. Don't know what is the reason for delays. The CAA rule is required to actually give some teeth to the CAA. A quicker introduction of rules is important, or else there can be a campaign lauched by the 'seculars' that the whole CAA was just an eye-wash.Aditya Raj Kaul@AdityaRajKaul · 12h

You have raised a very valid point here. I am speaking with my understanding of temples in KL. At present taking away temples from any government interference may actually lead to more chaos, and to be honest may actually cause further splits in the Hindu society. The Devaswom boards actually does a good balancing of the caste based equations in KL. No community is having undue hold on temples. Some how there are board members from every important (vote bank) Hindu communities. Forming a parish-like electorate to manage these temples may not work out well as in a specific area there could be one caste group who has more voters than another. There are lots of temples in Kerala managed by one community; to which members from another community do not go to pray. There are also certain privately managed temples where the electorate is only from a specific community.nandakumar wrote:Have a question for those demanding freeing of Hindu temples from Government. Let us assume that this is granted. Then who does the Government hand it over to?
Who forms the trust, that is the moot question. There are temples which have crores of liquid assets there. And there are people who can play any dirty game to take complete control of such temples.mukkan wrote:Temples could be managed by trust independent of government controls.

Julio Ribeiro as police chief set up Mumbai’s first organised encounter squad in 1982. By 2003, it had killed over 1,200 men.
Later as DGP, Punjab, Ribeiro presided over a ruthless crackdown.
I don’t know whether to thank the Ribeiro of the ‘80s, or laugh at the Ribeiro of 2020.
