TURKISH TROOPS KICKING ISIS OUT
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – ISIS is preparing to withdraw from the northern Syrian town of al-Bab nearly two months after Turkey launched an operation to oust the extremist group from the town, according to Turkish military sources.
“In light of recent information from the region, it can be said that ISIL is preparing to withdraw from al-Bab as a result of the military operation of the Turkish Armed Forces,” Hurriyet Daily News quoted Turkish military sources as saying on Friday.
ISIS has moved its headquarters out of the town and into the Tadif area, a village just south of al-Bab, the news outlet reported.
The militant group had “lost hope” after losing senior bomb makers in airstrikes, state-run Anadolu Agency reported, citing local sources.
The Turkish army began Operation Euphrates Shield on August 24 in which it aims to clear border areas of “terroris

the Ayn fijeh spring in wadi barada is now fully under SAA ownership and repairs ongoing to restore water to damascus
some 2400 militants in that valley either surrendered and got their cases settled or took a free bus ride to Idlib. its all red on the map now. pretty astonishing number in such a small area. seems like the rebellion gave every idle young man a gun, a salary , power to loot civilians and generated jobs in a tough economy and once under some flag, GCC / Nato aid poured in to keep the coffers filled.
I would expect east ghouta remnants to be totally gone by monsoon. that would leave a few pockets near the golan heights border and lebanese border who get moral and diplomatic support from across.

I suspect quite a few Iraqi soldiers have defected to IS , They say IS got kornet from fleeing Iraqi Army but just because they got kornet does not mean they can use it too unless they have some trained person who has the experience to use Kornet.
Even the Tow supplied by US good opposition was trained by CIA to use it. So there is a fair amount of training needed on how to use these weapons

Early in the morning on Jan. 29, one American Special Operations commando was killed and three others were injured in a fierce firefight with Al Qaeda fighters targeted by a predawn raid against the AQ headquarters in Yemen.
The surprise attack was carried out by commandos from the U.S. Navy SEAL Team 6 in Bayda Province who killed 14 Qaeda militants in what is the first confirmed anti-terror operation under Trump presidency.
It’s not clear what aircraft were supporting the raid; what has been confirmed is that a U.S. Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey aircraft called in to evacuate the wounded American soldiers crash landed, injuring 2 service members (1 according to other sources).
The tilt-rotor aircraft was intentionally destroyed in place by a U.S. raid once it was determined that it could not leave the crash landing site

So the "tooth" finally outs.ISIS was using chem weapons.not the Syrians,Russians, etc. The lie about usage of chem weapons that was being touted in the front pages and tv channels of the West ad nauseum against Assad and co., especially in the fight for Aleppo, has now been nailed with this discovery in the fight for Mosul. Strange though, there is such a news blanket about Mosul-as if it doesn't exist at all, becos the US and West can't complete the job unlike Putin and co.?

Special forces say mustard agent and Russian surface-to-air missiles found in site set up in Nineveh ruin
Iraqi forces have said they have discovered a mustard chemical warfare agent in eastern Mosul alongside a cache of Russian surface-to-surface missiles.
Iraqi and US officials have repeatedly warned of efforts by Isis to develop chemical weapons. When Iraqi forces retook Mosul University this month, they found chemistry labs they believed had been converted into makeshift weapons labs.

The Iraqi Joint Operations Command, headed by General Abdul Ameer Rasheed Yarallah, on Friday confirmed that the Shia-majority Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) will march on the ethnic Turkmen town of Tal Afar, despite previous opposition from Turkey, while the Iraqi army and police will take Mosul city.

A commander of the women’s battalion of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group, operating in Nineveh province, has stolen several millions of dollars, belonging to the group, and escaped from Mosul to al-Ba’aj province with four of her helpers, the Fars news agency reported on Saturday, citing unnamed local sources in Nineveh. The news agency specified that three of the commander’s helpers are Arabs, while another one is from Tajikistan.
“A commander of the female battalion is tasked to use female members in operations and administer all issues and affairs, related to female suicide bombers,” the news agency’s sources explained.
According to the sources, after the terrorist group’s members ran away from Mosul, the IS security forces are now on alert, as the terrorist group fears that its foreign members may return to their countries.
Also on Saturday, another source disclosed that three European women, who were members of the IS women’s battalion, were executed by the terrorist group in the Syrian town of Merkadeh, located in the southern part of Hasaka. Reportedly, the women were accused of spying for the international coalition’s forces.
The source noted that all members of the women’s battalion are considered as a part of the IS security agency.
According to another report from Merkadeh town, last week, at least 15 foreign members of the IS left the southern parts of Hasaka. Reportedly, after the incident, the terrorist group started to detain a number of its senior members

So-called “opposition groups” have formed two major coalitions in the province of Idlib. Initially, Harakat Nour al-Din al-Zinki, Liwa al-Haq, Jabhat Ansar al-Din, Jaish al-Sunna, Mijahidou Ashidaa, Kataib al-Aqsa, Katibat Qawafel al-Shuhada united under the Hayyat Tahrir al-Sham operation room, led by Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda). Then, Katibat Osoud al-Rahman, Katibat al-Rashid and the al Sa’ab tribe also joined the coalition and a number of Ahrar al-Sham battalions defected to Hayyat Tahrir al-Sham.
In turn, Tajamu Fastaqim Kama Umirt, Sukour al-Sham, Kataib Thuwar al-Sham, Jaish al-Islam (Idlib branch), Shamia Front, Mujahidi Ibn Taimia, Liwa Miqdad Bin Amro and Jaish al-Mujahidin merged with Ahrar al-Sham.
The creation of two big coalitions shows a separation of Turkish-oriented and Saudi-oriented militant groups in Idlib as result of Damascus-Tehran-Moscow-Ankara negotiations. The problems are that the question still remains how this can be used for successful military operations against terrorists on the ground.

A security source has told Al-Sumerian News that a chief ISIS executioner known for beheadings was stabbed to death by unknown assailants in the west of Nineveh.
“An unknown armed group killed on Sunday ISIS’ most famous decapitator, the so-nicknamed ‘Abu Sayyaf’”, the source told Alsumaria News.

“He had beheaded 100’s of violators of the group’s rule, and used to dump the heads at a well-known hole in al-Khasafa region,” the source concluded.

its repub guard and hezbollah from aleppo, so seasoned units
tiger forces continue to creep forward south of al-bab - they are around 6km away to south-east now

perhaps the idea is to make al-bab and deir-hafr undefendable and force a withdrawal without costly urban fighting by choking their supply lines.
