BSNL floated a tender for border NE States of around 1400 Crores. As per IB advise, Chinese OEMs weren’t allowed to participate and Alcatel Lucent became winner. Under Mamata Banerjee’s anarchic rule, the law-and-order situation is deteriorating to an extreme level every single day. But the allegation against a BDO in North Bengal has gone beyond all bounds of credulity — it is enough to create terror in the minds of ordinary people!
The accusation is that a government official abducted a businessman and killed him. The deceased’s family claims the businessman was kidnapped using a vehicle fitted with an official blue light, and was ultimately brutally murdered. The incident is chilling.
How can a high-ranking government official behave like a criminal boss? How is it possible to openly mock the law and the police administration and target ordinary citizens? How did such a dreadful breakdown of the state machinery come about?
An immediate, strict, impartial investigation must be launched. The truth must come out — and everyone involved must receive the harshest punishment. Anything less would be a cruel betrayal of justice.

New Delhi, November 3, 2025—Indian authorities must take immediate steps to guarantee the safety of journalist and Washington Post columnist Rana Ayyub and her family, after she received multiple threats via her phone from someone who knew her home address, the Committee to Protect Journalists said Monday.
“The threats of violence made against Rana Ayyub and her father from an unknown international number are deeply concerning,” said CPJ’s India representative Kunal Majumder. “Authorities must act swiftly to identify and hold accountable those responsible and ensure the safety of all journalists in India so they can work without fear of intimidation or violence.”
Ayyub told CPJ and stated in a November 3 police complaint, reviewed by CPJ, that she received multiple video calls, phone calls, and messages via WhatsApp over a 20 minute period on November 2, demanding that she write a column on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, in which some 3,000 Sikhs were killed following the assassination of the then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by her Sikh bodyguards.
The caller stated Ayyub’s home address and threatened to send people there to attack her and to kill her father, who lives with her, if she failed to publish the article, according to Ayyub and the complaint, which she filed with Kopar Khairane Police Station in Navi Mumbai, in Mumbai Metropolitan Area.
In her complaint, Ayyub noted that the profile image of the caller matched a photograph of Indian gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is currently in a prison in the Indian western state of Gujarat. CPJ has not been able to identify Bishnoi’s lawyer or independently verify the link between the caller and Bishnoi.
Ayyub said police officers were sent to her residence for protection following the threats.
Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe did not immediately respond to CPJ’s text message requesting comment. Senior Inspector Umesh Gawli declined to comment as he was in the process of recording Ayyub’s statement.
The prominent journalist’s personal number was leaked online last year and her reporting has previously led to online trolling, official intimidation, criminal investigations, and rape and death threats.

2. ₹20 lakh grant for the purchase of immovable property/land.
3. ₹1.5 lakh grant for house construction.
4. ₹20,000 to ₹4.5 lakh ex-gratia for surrendering working weapons (depending on weapon category).
5. ₹50,000 marriage allowance.
6. ₹1.5 lakh for education or vocational training.
7. Eligibility for a govt job, most commonly in the police department.
What a life, man! Pick up a weapon, wage war against the country, kill people, be wanted in three states, and then surrender one day to enjoy the good life. Meanwhile, there are people who slave away like donkeys to feed their families and still can’t save in a lifetime what a Ladla Naxal can get just by surrendering.
In Assam’s Cachar, the police have busted a heroin smuggling gang and arrested three peddlers with 1.2 kg of heroin. In a nighttime operation, the peddlers were busted with heroin that is estimated to cost around Rs 6 crores.
