Isn't it easy to second guess moves from behind a PC and engines giving out best moves?

Gukesh created his chances and Ding defended well. Gukesh missed a couple of superhuman moves after move 40 and had to settle for a draw. It's better than playing for a draw from the beginning and ending up in difficulty or losing the game.

Mollick Saar and also Vayutuvan Saar,
Normally its best to ignore the stands of movie stars and only bring backlash when something outrageous is said. Most of the actors whether in bollywood or any of the south of India woods ( Tolly, Mallu, Sandal etc) all utter something to bring themselves into the news cycle and by association their movie.

You will find without fail some or the other actor indulging in this when their movies are about to be released. That looser actor from tamil film industry Siddharth who would abuse BJP at the drop of the hat is eerily silent in the past 3-4 years when he has no movies up for release. You can expect his wisdom when a movie of his is slated for release.

Sai pallavi's comments were made two years ago, when she had a movie with Rana Daggubati ( Bhallala deva in Bahubali) as the male lead called Virata Parvam (where he played a naxal and she was in love with him in the movie).

But digging up that old comment to hurt the current films chances which by all accounts of arshyam garu seems to have been very well made. ( i will try catching it in OTT). The key is who brought out those comments now and why now and by extension were they trying to hurt the movies chances or did they just try for negative publicity to boost the film. Sai Pallavi has also extensively grown up in Kerala where secularitis is very strong and hindus probably need a body blow or punch to the face to wake up from the creeping dangers of secularism practiced today.

this also needs to be borne in mind.

The 11th game which Gukesh won was not a one sided game. In chessgames.com one commentator pointed out that had Ding played e6 instead of g6 , he could have won the game. The chess engine Stockfish gives a winning evaluation of over +1 for the black's move e6.

In chessbase India website, there is a nice analysis of the games, worth reading. Few excerpts given below. One can see how difficult is chess at the top level.

https://www.chessbase.in/news/FIDE-Worl ... -11-report
I was aware of this game that he played with Adhiban in '21 after 5.b5 Nbd7. 5.a3 was a new move which is almost never played before I think. I don't know if it is a novelty but it is very rare at least. It's something that my team had prepared, showed me last night and I really liked the idea. So, full credit to my team but what happened after this, it's just horrible by me." - D Gukesh.
"I knew this position was slightly better for me. 9.d3 a5 10.b5 Nbd7 11.g3 Nc5 I don't know where I could have improved but I spent so much time and came up with this stupid plan..." - D Gukesh
It's a very difficult game for me. On move four, I'm already wondering if this is the right move. 5.b5 Nbd7 I remember once I played this game against Adhiban in a Rapid tournament but I forgot what to do with other moves. He played this 4...Nf6 also came as a surprise. So I had to think once again. The 40 minutes just went nowhere. I calculated just some nonsense variations. " - Ding Liren's impression of the game.

Ding just struck back and tied Gukesh in a hundred knots and equalized the match. Next 2 games could be draws taking the title to tiebreak fast games.
If Gukesh wins the title it won't be against an out of from reigning champion. Great for chess, especially indian scene.

Game 13 ended in a draw, Gukesh pressed for advantage with white pieces but Ding defended like a rock.

Last game of the match tomorrow with white pieces for Ding. Will he go for the kill? Will he take risks and slip? Or will it be a draw taking the world champion title to tiebreaks?

Overall I felt Gukesh could not convert because he was a wee bit hesitant to go all out for the win. But today being the penultimate game, if he took risks and lost today even a draw tomorrow would give Ding the title.

However you look at it, fantastic play by the 18 year old.

Bharathp Saar,
You have completely missed the intent of my post or maybe i have muddled my thoughts in writing the said post. i am not advocating for forgiving Sai pallavi Saar. What i am trying to say is that every actor has made "controversial statements" when their movie was slated for release. their statements will also follow the films line ex:
1. "dear comrade" movie dealt with exploitation of woman cricket player and the movie promotion and themes were on the lines of respecting woman with the heroine going through a split with her then fiance and it was also used as a promotion for the movie.
2. Gautami putra Satakarni was about the king satakarni and there were promotions of having mothers name before one own name and after the movie went away no one speaks on those lines anymore.

The only exceptions that i see in this are the actors hailing from big families or kids of star actors/producers who don't say anything or even if they do the issue is buried quickly ( like the ranbir kapoors jai mata di comment).

The movie Virata parvam bombed at the box office irrespective of Sai pallavi's statement (and maybe i haven't paid attention but i don't think these comments of Sai Pallavi received any press two years ago when the movie was playing). Film actors are not knowing for being smart Saar (if there are any smart ones its an exception rather than the norm). My point was why was a two year old comment raised for the current "Amaran" movie. Also another point of note is that Kamal Hasan is listed as a producer of the Amaran film ( we all know his political leanings and also his statements on hindus and hindutva, it creates a slippery slope of do we support films made on patriots but by anti-nationals or boycott them wholesale and sink the industry as a whole?

We can certainly boycott her for her supposed pearls of wisdom but doing it in the backdrop of Amaran movie is bad and counter productive, especially when it is a decently well made movie offering a glimpse into the life of Maj. Mukund Varadarajan, one which i think jingoes should atleast see and appreciate. ( I have seen that movie on OTT and it was a decently made film Saar) . Our boycott efforts should be focused on rest of the movies that she acts - like for example shyam singa roy was a film that could have been boycotted for its blind depiction of hindu rituals and showing the same trope of pujari bad irrespective of any statements made by actors.

This selective boycotting of films will atleast put the producers on notice on what content is needed to be made and the manner it needs to be made.

If Ramayan is badly made/changed to appease various interest groups then it also can be boycotted, but shouldn't good films be seen to atleast give the producers a chance to make similar ones, else something like Pathan and Jawaan will be made and with all the accounting hoopla be called hits when those films are neither well made technically or even true box office hits.

Congratulations to Gukesh! What a clutch win with black on the last game with scores even.

After that critical move from Ding, Gukesh spent so much time looking at the board in disbelief, hands shaking as he drank water and then looking like he was going to throw up.

Terrific WCC between two great players who hold one another in great esteem.

Gukesh was always pushing, regularly surprised Ding with new opening variations which at their level is incredible.
I lost count of the number of times he refused easy exchanges to draw games and created chances for himself. Some he could not capitalise on, others he did.

Ding was not his best self through out, with only a few glimpses of brilliance like in game 12. I felt he was trying to get the match to tiebreaks a bit too hard which led him to the tack lustre play in the 14th game and full marks for Gukesh for pushing Ding over the edge with relentless good moves until he finally cracked and crashed, unfortunately in a rather ignominious way, and Gukesh took the title.

What is even more impressive is the cool headed grace shown by Gukesh at the presser sign of a immense maturity and inner strength which is extraordinary in an 18 year old.

Congratulations to the world champion!

Great future ahead for Indian chess.

It's a bit strange and unfortunate that Ding did not get a mental coach to help him (he probably needed even more help) where as the challenger Gukesh did.

It was tragicomic to see Ding smile and say "no game tomorrow" , with relief in his face.

Gukesh asked for and put together a great team around him. These days with engines and databases every one has access to information, but creating the edge at very high level needs creativity and determination be it chess or any other sport

Modern Indian cricket's best match winner, His MoMs and MoS #s are exceptional and perhaps the biggest reason why India was unbeaten at home from 2012-2024.

Deserved at least 30 more tests and ~120-140 odd wickets because India's batting in SENA countries has been so fragile that Jadeja,Pandya etc were preferred.

Also very refreshing on his podcasts/YT channel with genuine analysis and insight as opposed to some previous greats who only talk in sanitized/PR speak
