His unparalleled dominance of present day world chess and ILO ratings notwithstanding, Magnus' antiques are quite bizzare and often confrontational. I thin he is doing all this drama to get publicity for this new platform. The sharing of Blitz title was quite unprecedented. FIDE is unable to deal with this enfant terrible, and others like Nakamura who are also making drama now.

Hope Gukesh and rest of the Indian gang will counter this circus by simply upping their game and being calm and cool.

^^^ To put it in chess terms, the Jeans-gate was a gambit opening from Carlsen, which put FIDE on backfoot since most people sympathized with Carlsen.
Then, Carlsen fell into a trap by accepting the piece sacrifice by FIDE and lost tempo. Now, everyone is wary of Carlsen's influence on world chess. Carlsen had to defend against match fixing allegations too. This episode won't be forgotten.
All in all, Carlsen lost badly.

It’s official—India has done it again! The Kho Kho World Cup 2025, held in New Delhi, took the sports world by storm, delivering an unforgettable mix of sporting excellence, cultural celebration, and unmatched hospitality that has the world talking. This was no ordinary tournament; it was the ultimate showdown where sports, culture, and global tourism collided in a magnificent display of India’s ability to host world-class events.

India’s Spectacular Moment on the Global Stage

From the moment the event kicked off, it was clear this wasn’t just another Kho Kho competition. The atmosphere in New Delhi was electric as teams from around the world came together for the inaugural Kho Kho World Cup, the biggest event of its kind. Spectators were treated not just to fierce competition, but also a feast of Indian culture that left everyone mesmerized. The opening ceremony was a grand spectacle, brimming with Indian music, dance, and artistry that showcased the rich cultural heritage of India in ways that no one could have predicted.

But it wasn’t just the festivities that stole the show. The fierce competition between India’s national teams and other world-class competitors from six continents elevated the game to a level never before seen in Kho Kho history. India’s Men’s and Women’s teams didn’t just compete—they dominated. Both teams walked away with the trophy, cementing their status as the world’s finest in the sport.

A Cultural Phenomenon: Indian Hospitality Like Never Before

What truly set the Kho Kho World Cup apart from other global sporting events was the incredible hospitality extended by India. The players and visitors alike were amazed at the level of care and attention given to them. From the moment teams arrived, they were treated like royalty. Special accommodations were arranged to cater to the needs of every player, with food and hospitality customized to fit cultural preferences from all around the world. From comfortable lodging to handpicked cuisines, no detail was overlooked.

The players’ testimonials speak volumes. Iran’s Amir Ghiasi, one of the international stars, was over the moon about the experience: “It was our first time in India and we had a great time. The hospitality was incredible. The food was fantastic, and the cultural celebrations were unlike anything we’ve ever seen.”

But it wasn’t just about luxurious accommodations. The real magic lay in how India made every guest feel at home, from offering medical assistance immediately to ensuring that no one lacked for anything, whether it was dietary needs or even cultural support.

An International Cultural Experience: India’s Unforgettable Impressions

India took things a step further by not only hosting the world’s top athletes but also providing them with an authentic cultural immersion that left lasting impressions. From the streets of New Delhi to the iconic Taj Mahal, foreign players experienced the very best of what India has to offer. New Zealand’s Amanadeep Kaur, a member of the Women’s team, was full of praise for the cultural experiences she encountered: “We thoroughly enjoyed everything. The competition was tougher than we expected, but India’s hospitality and the cultural celebrations were amazing. We’re already looking forward to the next World Cup.”

For many international players, this was their first time in India, and they were stunned by how the country managed to combine vibrant cultural experiences with world-class sporting events. Peru’s Silvana Patricia, coach of the Men’s team, expressed her awe: “Everything is so different from our culture. I want to learn the dance moves here and take them back with me. The experience has been unforgettable.”

As the world witnessed in awe, this was more than a tournament. It was a celebration of the unity that sports and culture can bring, and India showcased the true essence of hospitality at an international level.

The Power of Sports Tourism: Why India is Becoming the Go-To Destination for Global Athletes

The Kho Kho World Cup 2025 wasn’t just a win for the sport; it was a massive success for sports tourism in India. As more countries discover India’s unmatched hospitality and the thrill of its sporting events, the future of sports tourism in India looks incredibly bright. The Kho Kho World Cup 2025 has proven that India can host world-class events that leave everyone—from athletes to visitors—amazed.

The Global Impact of Kho Kho World Cup 2025 on Indian Tourism

The Kho Kho World Cup 2025 is already being hailed as one of the most successful sports events to ever take place in India. With a mix of high-intensity sports and cultural immersion, this event has set a new standard for global tourism. India’s international reputation has soared thanks to the Kho Kho World Cup, with tourists from across the globe now eager to experience what this incredible country has to offer. For businesses in the tourism sector, this is a game-changer, creating new opportunities for growth and tourism-related ventures. As more global sporting events find their way to India, the tourism industry is set to experience a renaissance, attracting visitors who are not only interested in sports but also in experiencing the vibrant culture of India.

The Kho Kho World Cup: A Model for Future Sporting Events in India

In conclusion, the Kho Kho World Cup 2025 was more than just a tournament; it was a celebration of India’s hospitality, sportsmanship, and cultural richness. As India continues to rise on the global stage, sporting events like this one will only become more frequent, bringing with them unparalleled opportunities for tourism growth. The government's flagship Khelo India programme to scout and nurture athletes at the grassroots level was the biggest beneficiary as the allocation for sports was hiked substantially by Rs 351.98 crore in the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi on Saturday.

The ambitious scheme has been allocated Rs 1,000 crore for the financial year 2025-26. This is Rs 200 crore more than the grant of Rs 800 crore in 2024-25.

Pakistan is the host nation. They got eliminated within five days of the tournament.

MASSIVE SETBACK for Pakistan and Bangladesh!! Their "fans" back home are angrily waiting to deal with them. These hugely disappointed fans were eager to see cricketers who play and fight to win, not tame mullahs who did only namaz on the cricket field.

Three Islamic countries participated in this Champions Trophy

Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan—all three have been eliminated

New Zealand defeated Bangladesh by 5 wickets.

And Rachin Ravindra scored a fabulous 112 runs.

India and #NewZealand have reached the semifinals! Meanwhile, the Pakistan and Bangladesh teams are out of #ChampionsTrophy2025

#PakistanCricket Team out of Semis.

Had the privilege of attending and listening to Ilayaraaja's Symphony #1 at Hammersmith Apollo. What an incredible genius! I left awed and the first movement is still spinning around in my head. To do this at 80 and that too written within a few weeks!

I felt it was autobiographical in the emotions and passion it evoked. Hopefully, he will release it or go on a grand tour to other countries, so they can experience it.

Not a single official from the host nation at the presentation ceremony. Makes it all the more sweeter.

Seeing the caterwauling and vidhwa vilaap on BBC forum is the icing on the cake.

23/24 wins in last 3 ICC tournaments is phenomenal, ground advantage or not… Plus all this without Bumrah.

We need to work on our fielding - it was almost pathetic.

The music we are used to in India is based, predominantly, on Indian musical traditions - which is how it should be. Our music relies on general guidance on how to sing / perform a song, but mainly relies on artistic freedom, expression and their skill in doing impromptu improvisations on the spot. Film music is slightly more structured in that there is a music composer enforcing a set of rules on how the song should be sung / performed. Even there, some composers allow improvs to a degree. Our music is not random though. It has its own traditional structure (For e.g. in Carnatic music, we have pallavi, anupallavi, charanam, koruvai, vistAra etc.) but the emphasis is always on artistic expression and less on the composer's strictures.

On the other side, western classical traditions are composer led. The composer brings everything to the table, the artists - with guidance from the conductor of the orchestra - may interpret some elements of the composition. But, it can't vary from the composers ideas. There are structural differences in how a composition is laid out as well. For e.g. a sonata is a short piece with specific thematic elements and written specifically for 1 to 2 instruments. The grandest of those structures are symphonies and operas. Symphonies typically are about 45 minutes long built up using 3 or 4 parts - called movements - with each part bringing specific thematic elements, which the composer wishes to express, to the front. Typically the first movement sets the pace and introduces the listeners to what they are about to listen, and then build up their piece to a finale.

While these are structural and traditional differences, there is also the difference in how we arrange our songs. Since improv (or manodharma) has higher weightage, our ancestors and gurus didn't experiment on harmonics. Harmonics is the tool which allows composers to arrange and layer one instrument on top of the other. As an example, notice all the violins sitting and playing notes in an orchestra. They are not exactly playing the same notes. Strings / violins section is itself divided into 4 or 5 - first violins, second violins, violas, cellos and contrabass. A western classical composer needs to write for each part in the string section separately. The skill of a composer is in making such sections sound rich and lush. They will rarely be playing the same note. Then there are woodwinds (flutes, oboes, clarinets), brass (trumpets), percussion (timpani), piano etc. The composer will need to write parts for each of these sections and they all have to sound harmonious together, but at the same time allowing the listener to experience something new to what they have heard before. Requires perseverance, skill and a whole load of creativity.

That is probably the best I could to do as a 101 for these traditions

I recently discovered the inspiring story of Tara Prasad, India's national skating champion. Tara made the decision to switch from US citizenship to Indian citizenship in 2019.

Since then, she has dominated the Indian skating scene, winning the national championship three times!

Although she narrowly missed qualifying for the last Winter Olympics, Tara is already setting her sights on the 2026 Games. I wish her all the best.

I missed to post to this thread. See my post in the Tradition thread about the anti Hindu narration in the film Empuran.

Out of nowhere,A sitting CM joins hands with the Hindu party at the centre and ditches his own father's party

Name of CM - Jathin 'RAM' das

And guess who is the handler in this process..The mob leader "BAJRANG"

RAM - BAJRANG are evil in #Empuraan
Today's Manorama newspaper reported that the much hyped Malayalam film Empuran will be undergoing a total of 17 editings.

What is surprising is that Manorama giving a detailed description of the criticism by the RSS publication Organiser on the topic. As I said in the forum recently several times the trend of publishing the view points of BJP is increasing in the Manorama which is owned by Christian group. Recently Kerala Catholic Bishop Conference demanded that Kerala MPs should support the waqf bill. Saw another video of a Kerala pastor participating in a Hindu meeting and showering praises on RSS. I suspect that these are not isolated events and hopefully these will increase the goodwill to BJP amongst the Christians.

Just watched the new Mission Impossible movie. As usual they tried to put Pak a bit ahead of India when it came to listing N power states but at least they showed an Agni-5 like missile (although neither country uses silos) for India.
