SAA can
1. open up a new flank north of Deir Ez Zor to break the seige as it will be much shorter and sustainable than the 200km route through desert.
2. Take palmyra, hold there/charge to al-sukhnah
3. Seige/take Deir Hafer and charge on Maskanah(which is quert large city)
4. Open another flank to charge on Tabqa from Sheikh-Hilal and then to raqqa(if not captured by then)

YPG can
1. focus on Raqqa,
2. handle threat from ES at Manbij
3. Can send reinforcements to SDF if ES chooses to attack Efrin

SDF can
1. send reinforcements to YPG if ES chooses to attack Manbij
2. or screw ES on west near mari or Azaz or al-bab ,if ES choose to attack Manbij/Efrin

US can
1. Claim victory against IS if YPG manages to capture raqqa before SAA,

ES/Turkey can go hostile
1. attack Manbij as they always wanted
2. It may also slow down/distract YPG/US from claiming the crown

RUS Having already secured their ally Assad they have already got what they want the most. As extra-curricular activities they can
1. turn blind eye to ES hostility or just do lip service as ES hostility may delay YPG advance on Raqqa hence providing time for Rus ally SAA to catch up

Russia has trained and kitted a cisf type unit to secure such oil fields and refineries

They should pull a judo move to bypass palmyra and head for arak with blocks on the road. Force them to be besieged or run across the deserts toward jordan

This was inevitable as terrain has no natural barrier and isis has abandoned that region to perhaps defend deir hafr.

Key question is what will sultan do? Usa has reiterated they support the manbij military council.

A US Commander based in the Middle East has said that Kurdish-led forces will need more sophisticated weaponry to continue its fight against ISIS and to continue onto Raqqa city.

“Anti-tank weapons systems to address the vehicle-born IEDs. Certainly mortars would be something of help,” General Joseph Votel said on Sunday.

“Things that they would need of a force that’s going to conduct an assault,” he continued.

The weapons would be flown into a dirt airstrip built for the U.S. by a Syrian engineer, who lost his family to ISIS, that is long enough to handle large cargo planes from the United States, CBS News reported.

A defector of the People’s Protection Units revealed that the US had never equipped the militia as they said they would.

“We asked for heavy weapons. We got nothing. We asked for everything. All we got was ammunition and small arms,” he claimed.

He then went onto reveal that they were never supplied flak jackets, helmets, night vision equipment, or mine detectors like the United States had promised.

I think I read somewhere above that Turkey was supplying the rebels with Stinger missiles and they had shot down two planes. Cant find it now.

Thousands of Kurdish troops arrive from Iraq to spearhead Deir Ezzor offensive

A Kurdish convoy described as nearly “10 kilometers long” entered the Hasakah governorate on Monday amid a massive build-up for an upcoming Kurdish-led offensive towards Deir Ezzor city, possibly phase 4 of the Euphrates Wrath campaign.

The army reportedly consisted of a mixture of Peshmerga and YPG fighters that had finished operations across the border where the Iraqi Army has won the upper hand.

However, a friend of Al-Masdar News, Wladimir van Wilgenburg, called a spokesperson of the Peshmerga based in Erbil who denied their forces had crossed into Syria.

Nevertheless, hundreds of Kurdish tanks, armored vehicles, technicals and BMP’s travelled through the Al-Malkiyah border crossing, eventually linking up with SDF militants at the main highway in Hasakah earlier today.

According to information obtained by Al-Masdar News reporter Yusha Yuseef, these combined Kurdish forces will start an overwhelming US-backed offensive through the oil-rich desert north of Deir Ezzor.

Should this upcoming offensive go to plan, the predominately Kurdish SDF would lift a three-year long siege imposed by ISIS on the provincial capital of Deir Ezzor where entrenched Syrian government troops have struggled to turn the tides in recent months.

Meanwhile, one report suggested that Kurdish forces had captured Al-Kubar on Sunday; this ISIS-held town is anchored at the Euphrates River in northern Deir Ezzor. The advance could not be independently verified by Al-Masdar News’ military sources.

Elsewhere, south of Manbij, the SDF captured 9 villages from ISIS in rural Aleppo earlier today, coming within striking distance of the Al-Khafsa water pumping station

Could be a campaign to start near deir azzor and then roll up isis along the river to raqqa. Beat and corral them back into raqqa...

I don't think ppl in Deir Ez Zor will be happy to see Turkish troops. History is horrible on that account: scene of genocide where thousands were forced into the desert and left to die. But Kurds may be a very welcome sight. And will be much more merciless in the pest-e-sha'eed. OTOH, if u were a SAA soldier and u saw an F-16 approaching, what confidence would you have that they are not coming to kill u?

The kurds were with the turks mostly in armenian genocide. It was kind arabs in deir azzor who saved some.

Anyway these kurds are for breakthrough in raqqa and the anti isis deir azzor tribes for deir azzor province. These tribes were anti isis from the start and staged some small revolts which were brutally put down...now they see their chance to avenge deaths in their clan. It wont be pretty must will be done. Thats why isis has totally run away from countryside to the towns along river

They will get whats coming to them.

Now i understand why the deir azzor cemetary al makbara is the size of a small town ... must be many mass graves of armenians there
