Watch video of Sambit Patra telling the congis some bitter home truths about what their actual role and minuscule was in the freedom struggle

AFAIK, this is a POV not quite expressed like this before.

Where and where did Congress fight for independence?? A party formed by a Brit Babu fought them?? Smiling face with open mouth and cold sweat Sitting on dharna’s and asking them to quit India doesn’t get you independence. Taking credit for which millions sacrificed their lives is really pathetic and that’s what they do.

Please note:
There were a slew of "reputed studies international studies" that occupied headlines in Indian MSM to coincide with the Vaccine milestone. they were spaced a few days apart to not be too obvious.

1) Average decline in height
2) 2 year lifespan reduction in covid years ( meaningless statistic )
3) sex ratio

It's an attempt by the left ecosystem to dominate perceptions and negate any sense of achievement. It's easy to generate such statistics and who has time to check. The average English reading population will have the perception that whatever gora writes is gold.

If it's any consolation, We see these planted headlines in CNN in the US in far greater abundance now. They are exercises in molding public opinion.

At least in one of these studies (average height decline - I haven't seen the other two), the authors from JNU managed to keep their rabid anti-Modi tirades in check. In fact, there was not a single mention of Modi or RSS or holy cows or anything like that. They couldn't help playing caste cards, but we are talking about JNU after all.

They are at least trying to play a more sophisticated game.

Yes Xtianity vs. Churchianity is a good theoretical distinction to try and play up if one gets the chance. It doesn't work too well in practice. The game changer would be if SD were to subsume Xtianity as a subset of Bhakti yoga (which is what it really is). In the same way that the Buddha was brought back as an avatar of Vishnu.

despite Modi, NITI Aayog is filled with wokes and snakes

one needs to see tweets emanating from that organization / members which is pretty much critical and left leaning on social issues.

there is another guy who actually runs the day to day affairs and amitabh kant who is currently the CEO of NITI Aayog and a babooze of the kerala cadre is that guy and he is all sizzle, and no steak.

the earlier "planning" commission and now this NITI Aayog was/is often subject to corrosive influences of the jean drèze variety, many hold overs from the departed colonial masters who are bent upon civilizing and uplifting the natives.

Modi has other things to do and less time to run outliers like this NPA NITI Aayog, and BTW, there is no self goal.

No one is above criticism but in this case, it is a lot less Modi and a lot more kant

As the security scenario in Afghanistan continues to deteriorate, Sikhs -- a community that was already in a dire situation before the collapse of the government -- practically have to make a choice between options of "converting to Sunni Islam or run away" from Afghanistan, said a report.

The community, which once numbered in the tens of thousands, has been ruined and devastated by years of emigration and death, driven by both systemic discrimination and an uptick in fanatical religious violence in Afghanistan, International Forum For Rights and Security (IFFRAS) said.

The larger numbers of Sikhs live in Kabul while some in the provinces of Ghazni and Nangarhar.

On October 5, 15 to 20 terrorists entered Gurdwara (Sikh temple) and tied up the guards.

The attack happened in the Kart-e-Parwan District of Kabul. Sikhs in Afghanistan often experience such attacks and violence in the country.

There were many anti-Sikh violent attacks in Afghanistan.

Last year in June an Afghan Sikh leader was kidnapped, reportedly by 'terrorists'. No further details about the case were disclosed by the sources.

Another Sikh man was kidnapped and killed in Kabul in March 2019.

Later, Afghanistan's police had arrested two suspects. While in Kandahar, another, some unknown gunmen had shot another Sikh man.

Sikhs have been living in Afghanistan for centuries but for decades even the Afghan government has failed to provide Sikhs adequate housing or reinstate their homes, which has been illegally occupied by their powerful neighbours or warlords during the 1990s.

After the recent massacre of the Sikhs by the Taliban in a Gurdwara in Kabul on March 26, 2020, most Afghan Sikhs were leaving for India, said IFFRAS.
By the way, these are the same ones who delayed IAF evacuation flights twice because they did not want to fly to India but instead wanted to go to Canada or the US !

Apart from being meaningless, the data is also not understood by most readers. In all countries, life expectancy decreased in 2020-21
as a result of higher covid deaths (US more than India for e.g.) Since older people died earlier than expected, the life expectancy in subsequent years will be higher. Will there be a headline next year saying India's life expectancy went up after covid ?

I believe it is the category of people who are making most noises as they are unable to adjust to new realities.
This is a very very small portion of leisure travel component for a country of India's size and even these people generate revenue. This is an absolutely absurd way to cut off one's nose, so to speak, to spite off the leisure travel sector. This is prime commie economics level kind of thinking that will get us no where.
What else can can you deduce when vehicles like creta, chip shortage notwithstanding to still command 8-10 months waiting period?
That means there is demand and to create policies to cut off demand, rather then to increase production will for sure result in keeping us achieving our potential. How is this sound economic logic? I confess that I do not know GOI's reasoning behind this and I'm only responding to your reasons for the increase.
What seems to have happened is govt has come to realisation that fuel demand has become inelastic and irrespective of prices demand will be there. Something similar to liquor and tobacco. So unless people can come out of this addiction, nothing can be done.
What..this is crazy that you are equating our dependence on fuel for growth is similar to a drug. Do you also equate our dependence on food and formulate policies to produce less crop yield? Do you know of one country that do not use fuel to grow their economy? I hope you or some one like you is no where near the decision making apparatus.
And Modi knows this and his adminstration is exploiting this, hope to the benefit of overall development of our country.
I have no idea what the end result will be, but the pain in certainly felt by the common man.

The pain is felt by taxi drivers so much that they are petitioning the Govt to set standard rates for standard distances within cities (& peg it to fuel prices), so that aggregators like Ola don't fleece them.

This stupidity is a potential election-loser (not just a vote loser). Hope BJP's prospects in upcoming elections doesn't get screwed over by the MoF babus. We are still not there as a country, where we can have free-market fuel prices. It will take time.

no taxi driver is going to run at a loss under any circumstances.

despite having govt fixed prices in terms of Rs per KM, they are all cartelized and immediately start charging what they project as the new rates.

these rates will not come down even after the fuel prices normalize, just like the prices at hotels where again they claim that "high" fuel prices have "forced them to increase prices". These prices again become the new norm.

It is always the customer who is at the receiving end.

+108.

OTOH, nothing is broken, and hence, no need to fix anything.

Economy related topics will find their way into the political dhaga but naturally. It's called a 'political economy' for good reason. And sometimes, just sometimes, a political lens on economic issues indices more clarity than other lenses are able to do. Only.

Am happy to see the raft to overdue projects get rapid approval - from the nat'l infra pipeline to divestments to startup friendly measures to dergulation for innovation (e.g. drones), to PLIs for manufacturing, to clear-headedness on Regional FTAs to you-name-it. Will wait and watch for actual execution but past record inspires hope. Only.
