any ad hoc ordering otherwise. .. and you will definitely do the same taknik as you did for amazon prime. threaten them to cancel, they will deliver it free!
RB, My younger son wrote a Android game called 'Avalanche Escape!' for time pass. The object is for the skier to avoid hitting the trees. Take a look at it. Its very basic stuff to spend time while waiting for plane!
finally, updated my iphone4 to iOS7.. sprint services did not allow/receive phone calls. i had to ##UPDATE# for service reset. everything ok now.. i'd say it is much faster than my iOS5

is it on the store? Otherwise ask him to upload apk and I can download it. Avalanche escape used to be one of the games they used to teach in the BASIC books in the good ol' days. Back then it was ASCII based onlee.
Podcast of Padmasree Warrior's talk at CA Commonwealth Club. Pretty short just 15 minutes. She can take her seat alongside Alvin Toffler as a futurist (or speculative science fiction )
Does netzilla workers in the trenches know what she is promising? You guys and gals have to work real hard now to fulfill all these promises. I am eagerly waiting just like I waited to get my hands on Moto technology when she was Moto Labs Chief. I also remember all those great "you will" ads from AT&T Bell labs.
RB please note she has been given an award by the Computer Museum as well. (or may be you nominated her? )
Please to note she came to US with $100 and a one-way ticket.

like I mentioned many a full moon ago, she disappeared off the radar many years back internally and nobody knows what she does or says
.....all the big decisions are made the EVP council and the VPs of the individual business units who are ultimately accountable for the revenue.
there is a centralized CTO office technology labs..maybe some playing with these ideas take place there...but they have no revenue target
dunno about iOS4.. all i can tell from my minimal swipes and pinches migrating from 5 to 7. i ignored 6 due to suggestion from deep strike brf quarters about various issues with it.
only issue was sprint services went dead.. had to punch ##UPDATE#, a dialog box ok, then a restart. so far so good. have to check with kids if they experienced anything better with their games. now, IM on iOS7 is twice faster than iOS5 messaging.. that sucked big time~! dunno what they did, but i think it had some very poor simple messaging structure. it could be due to the graphics they had in the rich text. who knows?

So she is a technology evangelist . One of the interviews -1 hour talk with an NPR anchor - started with the npr lady asking how come being a chemical engineer she is into electronics? I didn't know the bar has lowered so much to become a journalist. Did this npr woman think that chips grow on trees after designs are made on the compooter?
Warrior had a sheepish smile on her face. She must be wincing internally that her tv persona is more valued than her professional qualifications - hopefully - unless she also believes in her own evangelism. It seems Chambers said she is the main contender to take over from him. So another nooyi in the making.

Yep, we had three Eikos in our high-school. Not very good and you had to occasionally bang on one corner of the case to get the keyboard to work. However, the machine which I used to poke around in was manufactured by (if I recall this correctly) an outfit from Madras called Siva Computers.

chambers probably plans to hang around outlast everyone. I do not think she would be acceptable to anyone - the eng/sales side, wall street....unless the idea is to have a ceo thats acceptable to no stakeholder and hence sickular.
Yep, the name "Sterling" rings a bell. The machine used to say "Siva PC - Sterling Computers" or something like that, and I think it had to do with their office being on Sterling road. Interesting to know about the man behind the machine.
Any suggestions if laptop battery is knocked off even before warrenty. Win7 seems to have some issue with batteries that reduce its life gradually. Or is there some kind of inbuilt Trojan that konks off hardware around time of expiry of warranty.
I have a 4 core i7 Asus laptop with 18" screen which I bought to run some benchmarks. It is hardly usable as a laptop since it's heaviness. The battery gave out exactly one week after warranty. Since I never intended it to be a laptop the computer was plugged in most time and I chose "highest performance" over "battery savings" as well. Looks like they can make them so precisely that the expected time to first failure is very close to the extended warranty period.
I didn't know that Siva Computers was originally started by Agent Vijay's dad Raabert! We used to have Eiko spectrum home computers in our school, running BASIC. We had a few Siva PC-XTs too and shiny new HCL BusyBee PCs (8088s onlee)...the HCL PCs used to have pretty good build quality. Anybody remember those cheap looking PCs sold by some Gobermint PSU outfit? Siva used to name their 386 PCs as 3AT6, 486 as 4AT6 (PC-AT vs PC-XT).
As I get older my patience is becoming thinner. With the latest updates of Android 4.4 on the HTC One M7 (2013), it has improved all aspects, but made receiving and incoming calls a PITA. My kids are using this phone and they can't make or receive calls without having to monkey with the settings. I am pissed off especially now that we're coming up on the end of the academic semester! I think Sammy on the software side has done better than this, but I am no longer willing to put up with carrier and manufacturer UIs. From here on out for Android I am strictly Nexus or Moto (Lenovo). All the others can go to hell!
Raja Bose wrote:What makes you think Moto/Lenovo will be any better? Nexus is the only way out for good Android UX.
The Moto X and Moto G both have a clean UI like the Nexus, they will get timely updates and are cost effective. Of course, past performance is no guarantee of future performance, so what Lenovo does with Moto is questionable, but indications so far are positive.

So, here is my decision: I will not give chacha or any other evil (now they don't use the no evil term do they?) company my money secrets, even if it is for life saving medicine!!
I am trying to build a genealogy/personnel linkage application. I have the database structure all mapped out.
I want a software that will help me build the UI (data entry) and database in the same thing. I also want to share the application and the data with other people.
Help suggest the right software ($0) that can do these functions in Windoze. I found Filemaker but the price ain't right.
Is there any free SW similar to Filemaker?
I have been thinking of using MS-Access for some time. Is there any disadvantage of doing so - given my requirements for sharing?
Huge changes in M$ attitude. They seem to have realized that the days of PC monopoly are gone and the way forward is massive adoption of their services & software. If the attitude change is real, it is good times for everyone ahead.
Satya garu even showed up with an iPad during Build conference. Doesnt seem like Uncle fester (who once was invited to a lecture for a conference I attended and his lackeys made sure that people using windows laptops sat in the first few rows).

Why are you surprised? They made that change and started executing on it 2 years ago under Fester, as pointed out here many times before. One shouldn't listen too much to the mainstream tech media - do you think Mickey designed and built the Office App for iPad overnight after Nadella took over?
ultrabooks by definition should not contain an optical disk drive.
optical disk, as a tech is dead. if really needed keep one USB based external BR burner.
For laptop, another aspect is where it is purchased for original parts, preferably in USA/EU.
Saikji, for a rough overview see Lenovo Thinkpad series models. I am assuming Lenovo, Dell, Toshiba, HP have many such business config model series - where motherboard also is optimized for performance.
Then there is also option of external writer so that reduces weight but I am not sure such an option is provided.
Plus new Win OS, along with device drivers for Lenovo or anti virus, keeps downloading patches may be worth hundreds of MBs per month.
Plus extra subscription for any SW that you may purchase to be factored in.
Some OS like Win7 have issues with batteries is what I read in online forums! Support for XP is discontinued so win8 is perhaps next best.

No good times. The people who are going forward with M$FT services are gobarmint and unibershitties. M$FT is like Congress party who say to stay the course as we offer the beshtest services.
