PM Imran assures Erdogan of Pakistan’s support, solidarity over Turkey's Syria operation
Sanaullah Khan, October 11, 2019
Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday telephoned Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to express solidarity and support for Ankara as it faces international pressure over Turkey's ongoing operation against Kurdish forces in Syria.
The premier during the conversation told the Turkish president that "Pakistan fully understands Turkey’s concerns relating to terrorism", a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office said. "As a country which has lost more than 70,000 lives due to terrorism and borne the burden of more than 3 million refugees for decades, Pakistan is fully cognisant of the threats and challenges being faced by Turkey having lost 40,000 of its people to terrorism," the prime minister was quoted as saying.

Good for us, This will affect turkey a lot more than any actions we might take over their stand on Kashmir. Killing good looking women is always terrible PR.

The longer the Turkish operation continues the better it is for us.
- Weakens Turkey economically (sanctions from US & EU are almost certain) and hence Erdogan's position.
- Weakens Kurds, hence strengthens Assad/ Russia. No deal without them.
- More ISIS attacks in Europe, greater support for our stand against terror, more pressure on Turkey's stand in FATF.
- Less attention to Kashmir human right etc. Human rights / liberals have the Kurds to worry about now.
- We become the only real US friend in the Central Asia/Middle East region after they ditch the Kurds and Netanyhu's position is weakened.

I doubt there will real sanctions against Turkey. Even if they do, there will be lot of loopholes. Like Preseller sanctions, did not stop Pak getting spares from Turkey for it's F16.

Turkey is to the Europeans, what Pak is to US.

Turkey draining its resources in pro longed quagmire is best thing that can happen, as Turkish economy was improving they already started providing handouts to Pakistan that should end that.
SDF is pro Pakistan as well there are a few videos showing how they wanted to come to kashmir to fight for Pakistan. Pakistan has supplied arms to them as well.

Paks have been hyper active on twitter to fight the "perception battle" on behalf of the Turks.

It is good that Paks are betting on a nation, which even the Arab countries are going against!

We are lucky to have Pak as our adversary.

Expecting a mass boycott of Turkish, Malaysian or Chinese stuff in India or by Indians will be an exercise in futility.

Indian travellers will continue to fly Turkish airlines as long as they offer competitive fares, much like Indian travellers to and from East Asia have been flocking to China Eastern and other airlines.

Indians (and others) will continue to buy Chinese products as long as they remain economical and often the only option in the market.

Apart from Palm Oil, not sure about the other stuff that we get from Malaysia.

Maybe we can send one or two Tejas a/c for some duty thereabouts alongwith Syrian and Russian af for suppressing violation of Syrian airspace and comeback after a few sorties. Tejas a/c as such doesn't have a long range but point defence is not bad to begin with.

Asia’s latest trade spat divides palm oil giants over Kashmir - :) :)
India, the world’s top palm oil buyer, is shunning purchases from Malaysia after the Southeast Asian nation’s prime minister criticized its policy in Kashmir, sparking the latest trade spat in the region.

Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad last month told the United Nations that India “invaded and occupied” Kashmir. Since then, many Indian buyers of palm oil have started shifting to Indonesian supplies amid concern that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will curb purchases of the vegetable oil from Malaysia...

“India will replace Malaysian palm oil imports by buying more from Indonesia and increasing edible oil supplies from Ukraine,” said Bipul Chatterjee, who heads the CUTS Centre for International Trade, Economics and Environment in Jaipur, India. “It’s the first time ever that India has used its heft as a trade partner to express unhappiness about a political statement.”

Israel so far had seen it as a Arab problem. and had friendly relations with non-Arab Turkey and even pre-Ayatollah Iran.

With Erdogan becoming Islamist Israel has a Muslim problem.
However the old Arab-Turk schism gives them some operating space.

Do you guys realise apart from Israel, Turkey is also close to the European heartland. It will not be allowed to have nukes with delivery weapons to threaten Europe. Nukes under American control are a different matter. Similarly they will not allow Pakis to have missiles to threaten the European heartland. That's one of the reasons Gaddafi once he tried to acquire Nukes from the Pakis in the late 80s was sanctioned, ensured he was denuked and then decapitated.

We first need to watch Incirlik airbase traffic to see if any non-routine flights are going on.

Right after Balakot, three planes came from KSA and returned after two days.

So the military is adept at evacuating stuff.

I also think DT doing Pontius Pilate is related to keeping the stuff still there.

Why Are U.S. Nuclear Bombs Still in Turkey ?
During the Cuban Missile Crisis, newly established U.S. nuclear missile batteries in Turkey were briefly famous, becoming a bargaining chip in the negotiations to avoid atomic war with the Soviet Union. Those missiles were removed in 1963, but 50 B61 nuclear gravity bombs currently reside in specialized underground vaults at Incirlik Air Base in southern Turkey, some 20 miles from the Mediterranean coast. These air-dropped bombs are capable of delivering a range of nuclear yields, from 300 tons up to 170 kilotons, or roughly eleven times the yield of the bomb the U.S. dropped on Hiroshima in August 1945. (For a more concrete description of these weapons’ destructive force, watch this.) Turkish F-16 fighters used to be certified to carry and deliver these weapons, but Turkey no longer has the pilots for that task; now, the weapons at Incirlik are there for rotational U.S. aircraft to drop them, if it’s ever necessary.
Technically, we didn’t know that those 50 or so warheads were still at Incirlik until the Times report confirmed it this week. It’s general American policy to neither confirm nor deny the specific location of nuclear weapons on vessels and storage sites overseas. That practice was a major part of what led to the late-1980s rupture in the U.S.-New Zealand alliance: Wellington’s Labour government grew uncomfortable with the likelihood of nuclear weapons passing through New Zealand waters, and the U.S. government wouldn’t certify that its vessels were explicitly nonnuclear.

What we do know is that B61 warheads in NATO nations are held for safe storage in special electronic vaults—known as a Weapons Storage and Security System, or WS3—in the floors of hardened bunkers. Deep inside Incirlik, these vaults are some of the last checks against nuclear theft or detonation by, say, a rogue Turkish government or allied militia. Some additional safety is provided by permissive action links—essentially, access entry codes—on the bombs themselves, but these delay rather than prevent unauthorized use. Given sufficient time and access to these weapons, a sophisticated adversary with the resources of a nation-state could likely figure out a way to use them—if not as designed, then in a way that would still release disastrous and deadly radiation. The only way to ensure that doesn’t happen is to physically remove the weapons.
When it comes to occasionally pulling its nuclear weapons out of allied countries, the United States has some well-known experience: It’s removed arms from the United Kingdom, Greece, and a German base under NATO auspices, with little logistical or political difficulty. Turkey’s case appears a bit more fraught: The Times, based on an interview with one unnamed U.S. official, suggested that the American nuclear bombs “were now essentially Erdoğan’s hostages.” That’s literally untrue, since the weapons remain in U.S. Air Force custody, but the underlying idea is that “to fly them out of Incirlik would be to mark the de facto end of the Turkish-American alliance.” But that statement seems inaccurate, too: This dysfunctional alliance can’t and won’t be saved by the physical presence of American bombs on Turkish soil. The weapons are a liability and serve no valid reassurance purpose—not to Turkey specifically, or to NATO more generally. The bombs can most certainly leave, and Turkey can remain as NATO’s intolerable black sheep—its status in the alliance being a problem for another day.
