I heard that their after sales is not that good and that there are reliability issues.
I had initially decided upon a particular Lava phone, after being mesmerized by its build.
Whats the general opinion about Moto E/G and any comparisons with the Samsung Galaxy range ?

Both Moto G and Moto E have dual SIM capabilities but they require Micro-SIMs.
Moto E has expandable memory slot but no front camera (a major drawback)
And since these two are sold exclusively through Flipkart, I have my own reservations.
So far, Galaxy S Duos 2 fits the bill. If there is a bigger phone with similar or higher features, I would gladly take it.

last year I got my mother micromax' top model which was selling @ ~15k. I am using galaxy grand which was then priced at 21k.
the micromax canvas has been a far better performer. my samsung has recurrent SW problems (f.e it deletes SMS automatically) screen keeps on freezing, very poor battery life and is considerably slower.

if I had to buy now I would certainly not opt for the samsung and give a good thought buying to micromax.

Stay away from Sammy's low-mid range phones. Their software (basically their version of Android with the Touch-Wiz UI) is absolute crap and gets worse every time there is a software update.

I've never used Moto Android phones, but they should be better.

If you aren't wedded to Android look at the Nokia Windows phones in that price range. The OS is much more stable.

For Android Nexus is the only sane choice. Sammy was crap to begin with and getting crappier by the day. G5 takes turdness to a whole different level.

They have separate plans for enabling hot spot, but the cost is the same as the regular data plans. Talk to customer service.
I used their familymobile through Walmart, so maybe things are different. In any case I will check up.

mobile services in USA is so restricted. I pay 30 euros/month for 21mbps 3G unlimited and 5000 minutes voice and text on any operator. No silly restrictions on personal hotspots, VOIP or data cap. likewise, unlimited 100mbps broadband is for 25€/month.

You are dreaming saar. Most net connections in desh are still <5 Mbps and yet cost a bomb (relatively speaking).

Oh well. My Verizon bill (Family plan) is touching $200 for limited voice and limited data no roll over for one smart phone + 2 smartest dumb phones wonlee.

AT&T UVerse is also in the same range $180 or so - TV + internet + phones.

Put together this is like $400, a mortgage for 2 BR condo in our town. :((

$350 bucks more similar surf pro 3 compared to yoga 2 pro., still you get lower resolution display and size.

the pros on yoga 2 are:
1.nice kb and touch display 13" qhd ips led
2. some motion control
3. convertible

cons:
1. 8gb ram cap - i would like at least 16gb - still laptops are at 1600mhz-- dunno why they have not advanced to ddr4 ram?
2. a 512gb pcie ssd
3. win 8 stupidities [not always behaves.. sensitity adjustments etc..]
4. it says win 8.1, not pro

Go for used IPhone 5 (not 5 S) or Iphone 4 S. that might be cheaper. Instead of going for Iphone 5, i think you can waitfor iphone 6, but then it will have ios 7++ only.

Personally dont like ios 7 at all. My biggest gripe with ios is email does not allow to attach document to a reply. I dont why IOS does not have document file manager.

I am looking for a free iPhone app for music. I need to be able to upload in folders. VLC is no good for that, it has folders but it is ugly and hard to use. Don't think I can upload a folder structure.

Try UbiDisk -- you can copy entire directory structure by dragging the top-level directory (from file-explorer on PC) to itunes->Apps->File Sharing (with UbiDisk selected).

Just upgraded to Windows 8.1 on my Dell Ultrabook. Their trackpad design is starting to piss me off.

With Windows 8, Dell/Cypress believed that the entire area on its laptops' touchpads should have been "active", including the buttons. There was no way to modify this in the settings. Problem is, when I tried to left click, my thumb "rolls" a bit. What this design did was to ensure that the cursor automatically moved a few millimeters to the left and then registered the click.

They fixed that with the Windows 8.1 driver.

But they're disabled single-finger scroll. And again, there's no way to enable it in the settings.

It's almost as if sadism is a desirable trait when it comes to laptop designers.

Ah. Repent and adopt the one true faith. The Mahdi's genius in the MacBook beckons. As a convert, I highly recommend it. I simply cannot use a Windows laptop every again. I find the UI and the stuff all at sea when I try to use my wife's laptop now. The use of the touch pad for the swipe and other motions instead of touch navigation on the screen is pure genius.

So.. there you are. MacBook !!!!!!!!!!!

Don't you miss all the windows shortcuts? I miss them on the macbook. Navigation is funny. Icons size is small.
