Would've been better if they were captured alive. In order to identify their source, phoren or otherwise.
Mate, I agree. Also, it would prove if they are Naga Terrorists or not.

Since terrorists looked clean shaven and wearing pants and shirts, I suspect that they were westerners.

MilindC,
You are kidding. On an early page I wondered if its Pakiban and bingo its no longer idle wonder! And recall the TSP UN Amby saying its Panipat time once Khyber is breached. He was delivering a warning! Would love to get him some ATS treatment.

The hair styles are not right, the round face is not right, the clean-cut chin on the tall one is not right. One has Mongol features - only part of TSP where people have that is the Northern Areas of POK.

These seem to be recruits from some other part of the duniya, no comment on where because I can't place it. Never seen the Faithful looking like these. I assume they have not caught any alive? No "AllahoAkbar!" yells?

Something is just very very scary here. A whole mini-army of suicidal gunmen? With no escape plan?
I had the same thoughts, from the moment I saw the first released photo of the blue-knapsack terrorist. Not your traditional Pakjabi or Pashtun ethnicity by a long chalk. I thought of reports in recent months to the effect that Al-Q has been trying to recruit "European-looking" operatives to get past ethnic profiling... not too much of a stretch of the imagination to posit that Jihadi groups might be following the same tactic w.r.t. more "Indian looking" (SDRE) operatives.

Possibilities:

(1) Bangladeshi... from the slight build, and the mongol-ish features do show up in that part of the subcontinent sometimes.

(2) Malayali/Malabari Moplah? There have been reports of Malayali and Dakshin-Kannada Muslims being trained by the ISI in forest camps throughout India. The stature and complexion would fit. So would the whole business of boats/trawlers as personnel carriers...

(3) Muslim foreigners of other origin... Southeast Asian, Malay or Indonesian. Dressed like that, they could pass among a million youths of uncertain origin riding BEST buses on any given day. Note the "we didn't understand the language they were speaking" report.

(4) Or they may not be Muslim at all. This event may represent the grand debut of Maoists as urban terrorists... or of Maoist grunt cells to whom the ISI has outsourced its duties. As you said, no "AoA" shouts. Also, the modus operandi, which as someone mentioned previously is a lot more reminiscent of Khalistani methods, than the Indian Mujahedin's style of standoff RC bombs. It IS, however, the Maoist style to descend on a soft target and overwhelm the meagre security with shocking violence.

So far we've heard of them doing it in remote villages in Orissa and Chhatisgarh. About a year ago, I would have laughed at the idea of Maoists being able to accomplish an operation as slickly professional as the current Mumbai attack. But then, there was the incident of 40 AP Greyhounds being killed while crossing a river, by extremely well-placed fire from three machine-gun nests in the Orissa jungle. Definitely a step up in technical sophistication... indicative of better weaponry and better training, probably from ISI operatives. Maybe today, in Mumbai, we're finding out what the ISI operatives were training them for.

TV says this lashkar came in direct from karachi. and that IB has caught one elsewhere in city

could just be one the semi-feral pakis who abandoned their visa and stayed on. there are said to be 10,000+ officially and mumbai is one of their main haunts.

http://in.rediff.com/news/2008/nov/27tp ... arkare.htm
I woke up with some uneasiness at 2 am on November 27 without knowing that terrorists had struck Mumbai and instinctively switched on the BBC to hear the terrible news that Karkare fell to the bullets of a terrorist. In the TV footage of him, he appeared calm and collected as he put on the helmet and a bullet-proof jacket before chasing the terrorists, but his brave act of fighting the terrorists personally ended in tragedy. He will be remembered for his patriotism, courage and sacrifice, but he should also be remembered for the diplomatic battles he waged for India in the halls of the Vienna International Centre.

The ISI along with the mumbai underworld seems definitely to have a hand here. The casualties among the police and the brazen attacks have taken terror to a new level. The political leadership should take this to declare war on anything that is against Indian interests. The premeditated attacks on the financial capital itself suggest larger strategic interests inimical to the Indian republic is involved.Hope GOI shows some spine here.

Paki Slimeball in PTI
Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, who is here on a four-day visit, stressed the need for "revisiting" strategies for peace and security of the region and favoured greater linkages between the two countries.

"I am shocked and horrified at the Mumbai incidents," he told PTI.

"No civilised society can tolerate such incidents," he said.

"I assure the Indian government of our complete cooperation and support. Terrorism is a global phenomenon. We in Pakistan deal with it on a daily basis," Qureshi said recalling that Islamabad had witnessed a similar incident recently.

"We will have to join all our resources to fight the menace. The Joint Anti-Terror Mechanism needs to be strengthened further. It needs to meet frequently," he said.

Qureshi said he had suggested to External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee yesterday the need for greater linkages and connect between intelligence agencies so that they can share information to prevent such incidents.

Noting that India and Pakistan are both victims of terrorism, he said "we will have to revisit our strategies for peace and security of the region." "I offer complete support to the Indian government," Qureshi said. PTI

Army on top of Oberoi. Just realized that it is infact the Trident Hilton from last year. Oberoi got it back from Hilton early this year. I stayed at this place last year , very narrow alleys and congested.

IB says that scums took trawler from Karachi to Mumbai.

Still missing terrorists might be holed all over the place. Hijacked a police jeep near Metro Cinema and this is how Encounter Specialist Salaskar was killed

No silver lining in that. Last time in 2001 they had 500 of these specimens trapped in one bldg and for all that our soldiers got 2 months of active duty patrolling the IB and the people were saddled with billions spent in mobilization costs. What makes you beleive that 5-10 of these species will make a difference this time. May be its time to dust off the cold start file or may be its time to redraft a new policy called hot pursuit.

The Karachi terrorists had exact knowledge of a building occupied by Jewish families in the vast city of Mumbai. One can sense the hands of the D-company, LeT and the ISI in this.

Wonder what was the terror plan by our man on action MMS and man of makeup Patil ?

They appear useless and clueless as ever. When the local pigs will be arrested, expect the mothers and fathers claiming innocence and laying the blame on hindu fundamentalism. The media will have a field day re-focussing the issue on how muslims are deprived of basic rights and yada yada yada.

The script has been perfected to a fine art. Heck even I can predict the tamasha in the next 3 weeks.

Then you are only watching and not listening. Pardon me.

For example, one person in CNN clearly said that there are 'rumors' that people were being killed and could be an insider job of ATS.

It is no surprise that people in the front line get killed by the pigs from whom they are trying to protect the country. Similar to an army man dying in a war. That is not an indication of preparation. It is just the risks involved in those jobs.

So don't pull anything and everything that is Indian.

I hope we don't allow FBI and MI-6 to land their dirty feet on India. In the guise of co-operation, these b@stards are known to 'lose' valuable intelligence.

We should inform them that a committee is being set up to investigate into the matter and they will be provided with a copy of that post-investigation. Timeline- 10-15 years.

I can't imagine any way in which the ATS Chief's vehicle could have been identified, successfully targeted, its occupants killed, and then the vehicle hijacked.... without the direct, active complicity of some ATS officers. Without inside info, there's just no way such a thing could happen.
