Humble suggestion to moderators. Could you please at least consider adding a sub section under the strategic forum section and club all thread related to pakistan under that. The reason I bring this up is because to any member or visitor to those forums one can see a rather large number of pakistan centric topics active and it takes away a lot of attention from other more important topics.

Not to mention it gives the twin impression that either a large number of forumers have a unhealthy obsession with the pukes or that pakistan is the single most important aspect of our entire policy framework, when in truth it is a hell hole which is known for only it's nieusessance value .

Another suggestion. Could the mods please add links to the previous Spy story versions in the first post of the new one, if they're still in the archives? Maybe Dileep himself might have the links.

I get this warning from my browser sometimes

Please look into the matter at your convenience! Thanks!

in the post report dialog box, can the default be kept to not receive acknowledgement?

most of the time reporting the post suffices. forget to change the option some times before submitting it

just a suggestion to the admins.

why the BR Monitor is not in vogue?? there are really some fine and very knowledgable posters on the forum. ex military can chip in too. it was happening some years back. it would be really nice if they can shed light on various systems, status etc.. both in technical and general terms.

even the older issues act as fine sources on different topics across many forums!!

TIA.

Could you elaborate on those reasons on why we should keep status quo wrt pakistan related threads, when clubbing them together might emphasize more significant strategic issues on the forum.

If you have something to respond, please use the forum feedback thread, not this one.
Suraj ji - Thanks. To avoid confusion, can you make it clear, which blogs/sources are not to be linked here in this forum.

Is it simply mav's blog only or all blogs?

(I ask because there are specific threads assigned to list member blogs, and quotes from and links to other blogs are given routinely, even from brf-admins)

It will be nice if you can put these guide lines in
http://www.bharat-rakshak.com/Guidelines.html
(At present I don't see any guideline which prevents links from "that blog")

Thanks in advance.

PS:

Just curious, if you really want to welcome them, why don't you just ask them directly by posting there?

AmberG, a Siachen-like 'is north really north or northeast' debate on minutae is unnecessary. Neither of us were born yesterday to not know why that blog exists or what's on there.

There's only one way to influence discussion here and determine how this forum evolves, and that is to post here, not elsewhere. Why ? Because it serves the self interest of the forum. When off-topic religious discussions occur, we try to direct it to a more authoritative debate on IF. Likewise, discussions on said blogpost are to be left there.

Whether they want to come here is their own prerogative - except for a few noted public figures, everyone else joins this forum on their own, without welcome or invitation. We are also aware that more than one former BRF poster from there is posting here under a pseudonym, or has done so in the past. For most part we treat such events with benign amused neglect.

The fact that the blog exists, what, 5 years later, is hugely flattering to this forum; I cannot personally imagine devoting so much of my time and energy to railing about some other forum online on blogpost. That said, that blog exists for a reason, and that reason isn't compatible with that of this forum. Links and references from there, or posters acting as water carriers from there, are unwelcome.

Same happened with Arun_S I sometimes used to read his post, they were excellent and well informed. I miss a lot of "previous generation" brfites, the new ones seem to be more pro western and tend to see most of the things from a western (particularly american) perspective. It's also understandable given that many of them are NRI's living in amreeka.

Seems a Lapse on BRF. Illegal Bangladeshis have even not spared BRF.
After dealing with Indians in BRF (bharat rakshak forum) for more than a year, I realized the following:

what lapse?
we have had many Bangladeshi members. Even pakis were allowed until they showed pakiness. We have Chinese and members of other nationalities as well. That gentleman purports that he somehow infiltrated us and found some opinions that we all have in common. LOL.
sure we have had posters who have had opinions that are extremist, but they have been either corrected or made to leave. Some still squirm over their lost freedom of speech.
That any one should propose that the thousands of us have the same view is laughable.
There is no need to post such links.

Does the forum software not have a feature whereby certain keywords are automatically replaced with some other characters? For ex, for any URL having a .pk TLD, the TLD portion be replaced with 1-2 asterisks

Similary, certain domain names with known pakistani affiliations could have any one of its characters replaced with an asterisk

People aren't paying heed to repeated advise of not giving traction to pakistani sites from here.

@RajD
You need to upload photographs on external image hosting sites & share the links here

Some examples

Picasaweb gallery tightly with Picasa

Any support intended for Tapatalk app ??
Registration of any forum with tapatalk is free.

I wanted to check how it works and got registered there as a forum admin 8) .

Basically a Tapatalk zip (~600KB) corresponding to the forum software (phpbb) has to be downloaded and extracted at the forum root and all the installed templates have to be modified in their header by adding the tag and thats it!!
<script type="text/javascript"
src="{ROOT_PATH}mobiquo/tapatalkdetect.js"></script>

Many of us browse BRF through smartphones and brf getting registered at Tapatalk will be like a godsend.
Can some enterprising admin/mod take the lead and get their hands dirty in this endeavour ?

BRAdmins,
I see that like the previous requests for Tapatalk support made by other members(Tanaji, jiteshn,Purush,Nandu) the current one is being given the silent treatment .

I understand that BR forum software has been frozen for more than a decade or so, not upgrading to the subsequent phpbb versions - and iam sure there is a good reason for it considering the cyber security threats which are inherent to running a nationalist indian board.

It may be well and fine adhering to the adage (its just an adage mind joo) "if it's not broke, don't fix it",but in this case providing support for tapatalk is hardly going to affect the security measures in place - though iam open for correction.

Is there any sekurity or monetization (of Adrevenues) or search engine indexing issue with supporting Tapatalk ?
Whatever may be the case, please to give a clear response hopefully with some reason (even if its conveyed in a cryptic/terse form), so that mujahids like me wont be again and again making requests on this issue - and can simply use search to know your position on Tapatalk support.

Lilo,

I wish i had a straight answer (Yes we will do it.. / No we will not) but unfortunately i dont. any forum tweak etc is just on a wish list of things to have, but are not finding time to do it . before the phpbb mods, there are a ton of joomla and gallery feature upgrades that we wish to do.. a major concern for us all the time is not to break anything in the name of new upgrades thus we tend to be conservative in our approach.

actually not.. the phpbb interface may look years old, but we always upgrade to the latest patch to keep things stable and secure. So we are on the latest and greatest. However we havent spent time implementing features that dont come out of the box for PHPBB.. so applying 'mods' and thirdparty enhancements etc have taken a backseat.

I wish to start a thread focused on Kashmiri Pandits - A collection of articles, blogs of/on Pandits. If mods agree, I will start the thread.

A thread for "History of Kashmir" might also be a good idea but would like to keep the Pandits thread separate.

This is badly needed

I am unable to send private messages. I searched in the FAQ and it said that it is because either it has been disabled for the entire board, or it has been disabled solely for me as a user.

I wonder whats happening? How do I PM someone?
