True, but this pretty much sums up the farce known as the US justice system. After the sham trials and charges against Trump and various people who worked in his administration, many legal / political observers ( e.g. law professors Allan Dershowitz and Jonathan Turley) are now openly stating that the US has reached banana-republic status.

The outcome of this trial is pretty much a foregone conclusion. Gupta will be found guilty on all charges. We can confidently assert that even though we don't know, at this time, what the charges will be.

For that matter, if (hypothetically) people like Edward Snowden or Julian Assange were ever tried in a US court, there would be a 0 (ZERO) percent chance of them ever getting a fair trial, let alone an acquittal.

How so? I don't think it applies to them. If the spouses are working, they are here on H1B or something like that. They have a legal status.

I don't think so. This is basically to allow US citizens to regularize their illegal alien spouses who have been living in the US illegally/undocumented for more than 10 years.

I don't know for sure the details of what that constituency looks like, but I am guessing most will be from Mexico or other latin american countries. I assume this is targeted at attracting more of the Latino vote.

It's not for people waiting to enter the US through a legal route.

The bolded part above is opinion, not based on facts and utter non-sense.

The facts are:

1. The spouse must be an undocumented/illegal immigrant married to a US citizen for 10 years or more
2. The current rule requires them to go to their country of origin and re-apply. This has been relaxed for undocumented/illegal immigrants married to US citizen for 10 years or more. They do not have to go to their country of origin.

It is estimated that the above change will help @500k illegal immigrants. Mostly from Mexico.

Most Indians applying for GC are on H4B. They are already *legal* immigrants.

Further: There is a one-more-thing. The change also gives the so-called "dreamers", the illegal immigrants who came in as child and graduated from STEM fields from US universities/colleges and have a job offer can get H1B visa without going to their country of origin.

The above "dreamers" are mostly latinos and they will undercut the work visas of other legal immigrants. And this opens the door for more illegal immigration of children (and subsequent sexual exploitation of underage)

Please be not so rosy eyed. Both the above change in rules and the 2012 Obama DACA (a.ka "dreamer") is a cynical ploy to exploit immigration for vote-bank politics.

Imagine Pappu doing something for Bangladeshis. And the canard that it helps Indians is also just that. A canard. Most of the Indians in US entered legally, by working hard. So giving a free pass to illegals is actually discriminating against legal immigrants. Mostly Indians.

This would be obviously "very good" for Indians seeking permanent residence through professional/employment route....or maybe not (see below).

I doubt his capability to deliver. This will require legislation since the state department still controls the "quotas". This problem has remained unsolved despite years of various bills trying to break the "quota" system.

Or maybe this is a typical Trump promise that doesn't really accomplish anything: he may make it simpler to clear the first hurdle through homeland security/USCIS (i.e., I-140 approved and join the PR queue). But it will not make any difference since the second hurdle will take years or decades. It may even make the wait longer since more people will be joining the state department queue due to faster USCIS processing. That would actually be good for Bharat, since people will be coming back to join the workforce.

IMO this is targeted at getting donations from Indians and some swing votes. With the poll predictions showing very tight margins between Bhaidanwa and Trump, Indians can become a key vote in the 6-7 swing states. E.g. in GA, if the contest becomes tight then Indians will be a swing voting group. Indians are already a key swing vote in many of the north Atlanta districts and we have successfully got Republican candidates elected for the state legislature.

Perhaps due to the position of the moon ? The earth moves about 5000 km away from the barycenter so this time the barycenter is closer to sun by 5000km exactly during Solstice. Moon being on the far side of earth
