for muslims in that area? that's weird...the mongols killed millions in that area and razed plenty of settlements (both muslims and orthodox christians in the wide region of eurasian steppe and middle east)Rangudu wrote:Actually, it's not just Tamerlane, but also Chengiz and Kublay - which are all popular first names there.
NBC is reporting that both brothers had received military training from ' a foreign military organization" and may have traveled to AF-Pak border in October 2008. Since 2009 both brothers have been in the US and kept fit by boxing and the younger one was apparently a wrestling champ. Their father is a Chechen diplomat who was posted in Pakistan for 14 years as an attache. Both brothers have spent upwards of 3 years ( schooling) in Pakistan. The elder brother traveled through Pakistan with his girlfriend in 2007. where he is said to be on a skiing holiday in the Karakoram mountain range. The anchor is speculating that the only way to access the skii ranges in Pakistan is via military helicopters and therefore he may have come in contact with the Pakistani military / powerful ISI. More later. Stay tuned..
It's just like the pakis venerating every invader who raped their ancestors and plundered their lands.Gus wrote:for muslims in that area? that's weird...the mongols killed millions in that area and razed plenty of settlements (both muslims and orthodox christians in the wide region of eurasian steppe and middle east)Rangudu wrote:Actually, it's not just Tamerlane, but also Chengiz and Kublay - which are all popular first names there.
It's just like the pakis ... their lands.
That is a correct statement....CNN had a H&D feature on Pakistani Karakorums a few days ago with PA helicopters ferrying journalists all over the place. They were on a low key venture to rehabilitate Pakistan's image. Incidents like these only muddy the waters further.venug wrote:Posted Earlier by IndraD ji:NBC is reporting that both brothers had received military training from ' a foreign military organization" and may have traveled to AF-Pak border in October 2008. His mouth is agape. His face is awash in blood. On his right side is a wide gash where doctors cut him open to try to start his heart and save his life.
The image of Tamerlan Tsarnaev, dead and naked on a slab, snapped by an unknown person, was emailed repeatedly by law enforcement officers Friday morning.
“Suspect 1” was written above the gruesome picture.
Seeing a photo of one of the Marathon bombing suspects dead was cathartic, said one law enforcement official who saw the picture.
Passing it around was a rare chance “to revel” while other officers searched for Tsarnaev’s brother, Dzhokhar the official said. “Mission accomplished. We’re halfway there. Justice is served.”
Boston police officers have been working 12-hour shifts since Monday and many were kept well past the end of their shift Friday morning after the chaos broke out Thursday night.
Officers who had been working since 6 p.m. were placed at major intersections around their districts and told to look at passing cabs. Some were stopped as officers peered into the backseat looking for Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev, the remaining Boston Marathon bombing suspect.
Officers who started their day at 6 a.m. and had gotten a few more hours of sleep were sent out of their districts to help with the search.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dzhokhar_DudayevChechnya - Chechnya's war-ravaged capital has been called Dzhokhar-Ghala (later Dzhokhar) by Chechens in 1997 during its de facto independence.[17] After the Second Chechen War Djokhar were renamed to Russian called Grozny again. It is notable that Chechens in general refrain from using the name Groznyi (which is Russian for terrible, and considered demeaning), either calling the city Dzhokhar or by its other Chechen name, Sölƶa-Ġala.
Its funny how many of the details surface after the events have unfolded"Paul"]venug wrote:Posted Earlier by IndraD ji:That is a correct statement....CNN had a H&D feature on Pakistani Karakorums a few days ago with PA helicopters ferrying journalists all over the place. The president of breakaway republic of chehncya in the first chechen war was a renegade Dzokhor Dudaye. The younger one may have been named after him.
The Timur of the past was not originally named Temujin, but just Timur. Temujin was Genghiz Khan's original name. Timur/Teimur/Taimur are Turkic names while Tamerlane is indeed western. Timur was born either a Muslim Turk or Turko-Mongol, while Genghiz Khan was Mongol. Timur sought to portray himself as descended from the Mongols, however.Mukesh.Kumar wrote:Tamurlane/ Teimur/ Timur are all westernized names for him. For an idea of the kind of historical meme/icon he has become, watch the movie- Mongol by Sergei Bodrov.
So, yes the name Tamerlane has less to do with a Muslim identity but more to do with a Chechen identity. Though that does not seem to be relevant for the moment.
From what I've heard, supposedly 5 to 10 petabytes (2005 figures) of intelligence data is collected every month by NSA. Problem lies in the intelligence analysts. Not many can positively identify a situation brewing ahead of time due to lack of cultural and regional knowledge/understandings in addition to the religions/races/local politics/practices.Theo_Fidel wrote:This sort of stuff is only tracked on BRF.

OT: Taimurlung is what he is called in Dilli and environs i.e.Taimur the 'langda' (lame). Known for his sack and massacre in Dilli. So Taimurlane could just be a restatement of Taimur-e-lung or Taimurlung.Suraj wrote:The Timur of the past was not originally named Temujin, but just Timur. Temujin was Genghiz Khan's original name. Timur is more a popular name for Muslim Caucasians than Tamerlan, from what I've seen. Example: Azeri world #4 grandmaster Teimour Radjabov.
The apologists started their homework. Is there any human in this world that didnt feel he went thru an ordeal in his/her life? how many of them are ending up as terrorists?Bombing suspects' father, Chechen officials cry 'set up'
this is bit more elaborate (father being mechanic comes from this story):
Suspected Boston bombers were refugees from brutal conflict
They made an aseptic planting and a rather clean get away and seem to have planned well till this point. So why 711 loot? Is it that a rendezvous went foul? The mayhem began at approximately 10:20 p.m. Thursday when police said the bombing suspects robbed a 7-Eleven store in Cambridge. Minutes later, police said, the men shot and killed an MIT campus officer, Sean Collier, 26, responding to the robbery call. The terror suspects then carjacked a Mercedes-Benz SUV with the driver inside and fled, eventually letting the driver go.
