Congratulations to all the DRDO scientists.
We should now try to increase the range of Brahmos from 290kms to atleast 1500kms. and make it Nuclear capable & submarine launchable ATV should have it.
Increase the range of AGNI series missiles
and these tests should be done quickly.
Then after these testing we should send the Pakis to the STONE AGE

It would be great to see Indian defence system having
a. 2000 A3 with extended range of 20K km.
b. Air, submarine, land based hypersonic Brahmos with range of 4K km (Allow me to dream ).
c. Space, air, submarine, land based anti-Ballastic Missile Shield.
d. 2000 fifth generation fighter planes of all makes.
e. Around 1000 bombers (strategic or land attack).
f. Indigenous geostationary sat based communication/surveillance on entire world.
g. Ultra modern Infantry equipment.
h. 5000 MBTs
i. 80 nuclear subs capable of missile strike, 50 disel subs (ultra silent) also with missile launching ability.
j. A unified command for land, sea, air and space based defence assets.
k. India's GDP/capita highest in the world.

http://broadband.indiatimes.com/videoshow/1896958.cms has the best video coverage, but it has mixed video from A3 launch and A2/A1 launch. The A3 launch is at 1:30minute mark and repeated 2 times in the clip.
Congratulations DRDO and all its labs in particular ASL and Dr RN Agarwal (now retired).
As regarding trajectory, for shorter range generally the second stage flex nozzle is used to screw twist the thrust to waste energy such that at the end of second stage the net velocity is lesser (compared to straight thrust along trajectory). That would account for 15 minutes flight time.
The first stage flex nozzle is critical for depressed trajectory capability.
Overall I am a very happy person today.
One can see PTI etc picking off BR's Agni page content. Also some of the reportes have lifted material from my article in Indian Defense Review Jan-07 issue and July-06 issue. Which is good (at least they did not pickup the Marxisrt feed comming from its paymasters UK-US-China). There in BR serves the nation to bring truth out to Indian people.

The downside is that most have parroted the 1.8m diameter from these articles. Though BR Agni page has till recently asserted 1.8 to 2.0 meter diameter. (One can verify by looking at the olderver version of Agni page, which is available here:

Anyone seen any picture released of Agni-III? Looks like Bharat-Rakshak is the only one having Agni-III photo.

shiv, this test did put certain VVIP-DDM-ites into oblivion. The BRF discussion on the range is a bit bewildering.. So many different ranges attributed to so many different sources is pure FUD (as NR would say). As Arun has often pointed out, some latest generation ICBMs (Topol, French M-51 etc) & A3's overall dimensions are fairly comparable, so why not the range?

hah, who's laughing now, I wonder.slamabad, July 10 (IANS) The failure of Agni-III reflected 'incompetence' of the Indian missile designers and planners, said an eminent Pakistani scientist.
They would need to go back to the drawing board and take two to three years, unless 'they borrow something from abroad,' said Samar Mubarikmund, chairman of Pakistan's National Engineering and Science Commission (Nescom).
Claiming that Israel was involved in developing India's missile programme, Mubarikmund said Pakistan, which had an 'indigenous' programme of its own, retained superiority over all others in the South Asian region.
Mubarikmund told The News Sunday that the circumstances narrated by the Indians for the failure of the missile test were 'not acceptable.'
The Indian missile met a disaster as it could not attain the altitude where the first stage is over or the second is even ignited.
He disputed the Indian claim, saying that with the range of 3,500 km, the missile had to go above about 800-900 km while the second stage had to be ignited at 28 to 30 km.
'If the missile fell from the height of 12 km, it establishes that either it's motor rocket, the basics of the missile proved failure or the guidance and control system was faulty. In both the probabilities, Indian technology has been exposed in clumsy manners.'
'It is interesting to watch that Indian missile programme that was initiated by French and US assistance and later New Delhi also borrowed Russian technical support has been facing tragedies from the beginning,' the newspaper quoted him as saying.
The newspaper also quoted from official sources to take pot shots at Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
'In fact he (Manmohan Singh) attained high moral ground for his country just to provide cover to constant failures of his country's scientists engaged in developing long-range missiles and they were hesitating from testing the missile,' the sources said.
Pakistan is still maintaining its superiority in missile technology in whole South Asia as it has successfully tested number of missiles with various ranges including Shaheen-II that has the range of the 2,500 km with all remarkably accurate parameters.
These parameters proved in the presence of international neutral empires when the missile hit the target to extent of centimetres accuracy in the Indian Ocean, the sources said.

vsudhir.. its dated.. btw, still applicable. now i am thinking 4k and they must feel irrelevance or perhaps chinkies are asking them better counter the 4k walas, or else you would not get more missiles and nuke supplies.
