India-Russia: News & Analysis
Re: India-Russia: News & Analysis
Why not allow the Russians to manufacture and take what they want in India ?..they could use Indian expertise labour and raw materials..they could use the accumulated capital to incentivise local companies or have incorporated companies
Re: India-Russia: News & Analysis
That requires state governments to take the initiative and invite industry.
Most of the states are not interested in industrial activities.
Most of the states are not interested in industrial activities.
Re: India-Russia: News & Analysis
The incentive to do that is very low when they can get what they want from China with good quality at great price point, established safe supply lines by rail & road and pay for it with oil.drnayar wrote:Why not allow the Russians to manufacture and take what they want in India ?..they could use Indian expertise labour and raw materials..they could use the accumulated capital to incentivise local companies or have incorporated companies
Even if we tried to supply military consumables like munitions, clothing and rations using PSUs - which we don't want to do in the current situation - it will not make much of a dent in the trade imbalance.
Russians will happily take gold but we don't want to do that either
Despite good will from both sides the problem is tricky.

OT but not true. Most of the better states spend a lot of effort trying to attract industry. They have land banks, single window clearances and what not. TN, AP, Gujarat , Maharashtra and now UP are cases in point.

I know this has been in the works for a while and namo is personally behind this. But won't this become a choke point for the chini and generate some leverage if we decide to choke them in Malacca?
Unless the shipping is done on Russian vessels and insured by Russia.
also gives more options for unkil to play with.
May be GoI knows this and is thinking "paarkalaam" and confident that we can deal with it.

I don't know why we've fallen in love with this particular word 'decoding' - I hear it on every 3rd news video

Having said this, time is coming for India to settle this useless debate of choosing between aircraft carriers and submarines. Start with a program that will yield 6 to 8 aircraft carrier battle groups by 2050.
Re: India-Russia: News & Analysis
When this route was initially floated I thought its possibly a CBM with the Chinese for this very reason. But that was before the clash in Galwan valley. Its possible Russia's pushing for this now given changed circumstances.
Re: India-Russia: News & Analysis
EAM Jaishankar's unusually long visit to russia and also his rare meeting with the russian president Putin is altogether intriguing
Putin usually meets only with heads of state or government and this meeting, with India's foreign minister, is quite a significant departure from putin's usual protocol
The russkis don't have the informal amriki diplomatic culture of the POTUS sometimes "just" dropping by and crashing an official meeting which is being held with a lower level visiting functionary or dignitary of a foreign government, complete with vacuous smiles and photo ops all round

Jaishankar meeting Putin: reason could be Modiji is grooming Jaishankar to take over as PM of India. Dr. Ankit Shah mentioned this idea, since external affairs is very critical for PM of India post and who better than Jaishankar. In Modi's 3rd term maybe Jaishankar is deputy PM. The Russians probably have advanced intel on such matters. Also Jaishankar has been instrumental in the world press of justifying India Russia friendship and smoothing out Russia-Ukr war tensions in the press/media. This is no mean feat. The oil trade by Russia to India turned out to be way too good because firstly it prevented non-drilling which has major issues in cold siberia and secondly India refined the crude and sold it to Euros. Putin is a sharp person and he understands that meeting with Jaishankar photo-ops would bother the right people.
Congrats to Jaishankar for this meeting with Putin.

bala saar,
These are mundane political matters and no one in the BJP will keep quiet if Jaishankar is proposed at the PM successor... because presently, there are more suitable candidates with impeccable records and proven political capabilities/acumen to handle the rough and tumble of life in the treacherous Indian political arena
It looks like something more important and of immediate import is happening.
Jaishankar is among the most polished of ministers that the Modi cabinet has and his non political profile makes him eminently suitable (as well as, non controversial) to act as an emissary
Re: India-Russia: News & Analysis
S.J must first contest an election and win. There is nothing wrong in trying to contest from TVM against Sashi. The earlier this is decided, the better the chances of victory.
Re: India-Russia: News & Analysis
Cyrano ji I was studying this in some more detail. Chini is no where in the picture, if India takes a slightly detour path. After Malacca strait, India can go via Java Sea, Celebus Sea, Philippines sea, around Japan and just south of Sappora into Sea of Japan and onto Vladivostok. No south china sea or east china sea. There are several friendly ports on the way for rest. Note: there could be other alternatives in routing. However, the bigger destination is Sakhalin where actual oil and liquified natural gas is available, ONGC has a stake already in Sakhalin. Where is Sakhalin: it is north of Sapporo. So, all the way for Indian ships, China would be hard pressed to do a choke.
BTW, Japan patriot missiles were removed by US for Ukraine war, which leaves them nanga. India can sell them Brahmos like they did with Philippines. If we have such cover then the Chini Navy is in jeopardy.
Re: India-Russia: News & Analysis
So do you think the Russians will do the right thing on joint defense co-production with us? If they did, then it solves the rupee-ruble trade problem, since their oil supplies to us can be offset by our equipment & spares supplies to them.
Can we trust them, or will they scam us like the Americans just now have?

Maj Gen Rajiv underlines the steady relationship of India-Russia for 70 years.
Interesting question raised by viewer: if given 1 bullet to shoot, who takes out whom - US, India, Russia, China. Russia and India are very clear, Russia will take out US, India will take out China. But what about US and China?

US will try to take out Russia, hoping to use the Russian bullet to take out the survivor of the India-China shootout.

Re: India-Russia: News & Analysis
Remember each have a gun loaded with 1 bullet only. So Rus taking on US and India taking on China is pretty obvious. However US will want to take out China first since they know how to handle Russia (with Nato). China wants to take out US first since it is direct competitor. India is next on the queue and they think they can handle India with cat's paw Pukis.
Re: India-Russia: News & Analysis
When you kill your opponent, he is unlikely to object to you taking his gun and bullet
I guess that's why US has been doing the Ukraine thing for the past year or two and China has been building up it's forces on our border and not taken out Taiwan yet.

Re: India-Russia: News & Analysis
You mean bullet in its head?
Re: India-Russia: News & Analysis
Ji, no, exactly what I wrote. Chinese hate the Americans, Russians hate the Americans and if the Chinese have to think out who is a more substrative threat, India does not fit its billing with just one bullet in hand. Either way the Americans will be shot, once at least once if not twice.
Re: India-Russia: News & Analysis
Vladimir Putin is a master in Q&A and he handled the interview with Tucker superbly. President Putin has very good knowledge of history and understands the power of a state like Russia. He does not give away anything but educates the interviewer in basics. Let us face it: Tucker is no match to Putin.
I do want to add that the US is progressively getting to be more and more stupid as far as its leadership is concerned. Yes, the deep state thinks they are always right but they are not. Putin mentioned that the human mind has the left and right and they both are doing differently things sometimes in opposition. However it is the same mind. The world is like the head it has two different factions. However for the world / or the head to survive it needs to reconcile the differences and live peacefully. Somehow the idiots who run the US don't understand the basics, they are always into dangerous brinkmanship, pat themselves on the back and think they are intelligent (but they turn out to be morons of the highest kind). Making a mess in the world is a unique Britshit trait and since the US has descendants from Britain, it is inherited.

IMO this is a more reliable link to the interview: https://tuckercarlson.comsanman wrote: ↑09 Feb 2024 08:48 Tucker Carlson Interviews Putin

I say "more reliable" because Y/T is an arm of the deep state, they are constantly trying to suppress news that the d/s disapproves of. If tomorrow or next week they get an ishara they will not hesitate to suppress this interview or any other videos linking to it.

This video talks about how Russia is making a lot of money from oil sales despite the sanctions placed on them. The video starts by showing how Russia might be filling its war chest to a record high by transferring crude oil from one tanker to another in the blue expanse. The video then goes on to show how India has been buying a lot of Russian crude oil and then refining it and selling it to other countries, including the United States. This means that even though the US is sanctioning Russia, they are still indirectly buying Russian oil. The video ends by saying that Russia is making a lot of money from this and that there is a temptation for people and companies to do this because it is so lucrative.
Let me know if you would like learn more about sanctions or the oil trade.
