BD is the big thing at this WC. Yes, they got thrashed by AUS batting but they are not slouches, scoring 302 for 6 in 45 overs against AUS! Has BD played Bakistan yet?

Afghanistan has been a disappointment in this WC. I had expected some gutsy performances but they have just GUBO'ed to everyone, Pakis style.

BD batting talent is awesome! Pak has some great guys in their team who are menacing: Fakhar, Babar and Mohammand Amir. The talent ends with them unfortunately.

Interesting turn of events. Sixer-herrrow BritPakis crashed to defeat against measly SL, all out barely over 200!!!! No rain, clouds etc. A collapse worthy of the Original Pakis. Curious that they have now lost to Pakis and SL, with AUS, NZ and India to come.

135/4. Only two more recognized batsmen. Stupid shot selection by Vijay Shankar. He had a century for the taking.

The whole point of playing only 7 batsmen and 4 specialist bowlers is to avoid risky shots like the ones KL Rahul and VS played.

Bad pitch reading by India. Should have played Jadeja instead of Shami.

Absolutely. Apparently BritPaki Mark Wood said something similar, and he was the one who got out last, when his partner was a just a few sixes away from victory. Reminds me of BD-India match 1 or 2 WCs ago, which is what put the fire into BD.

I have a pooch for gentleppl who may kindly tweet this:

CRICBUZZ says:
Jasprit Bumrah, right-arm fast medium, comes into the attack
The guy bowls at 144kmph+, which is 90+ mph! What is "medium" about that? Who is "fast" if not for him? This seems to be the standard racism, I expected better from CRICBUZZ vs. the dhimmis at CRICINFO.

This sounds like the old story where NATO placed an order for 20 million condoms with the Russians, specifying 10 inch length and 2 inch dia, and the Russians sent them in packages marked
SMALL-MEDIUM

If you continue to play dead weights like MSD just because he has a cricketing brain and acts as a consultant to VK, such performances are very common now a days.

India should have targeted to make 260 or 270. It's a winning total on this pitch.

Phew, that was close.
I don't know how the team tolerates Dhoni's style of play. Why should the entire team adapt to his plan which is risky and which he himself rarely pulls off.
Their batsmen didn't seem to find the scoring as tough. If Dhoni cannot match the Afghan batsmen, he shouldn't be in the team.

After screwing around all day, Pandya finally makes himself useful by taking the catch.

I agree about Dhoni, he is just lingering on and is blocking others without performing. Everyone expects him to click but he listlessly swishes away and heads back home. I hope they retire him after the WC, he's turning the team into his retirement paradise.

Dhoni's keeping is still soo much sharper than that of the Yung Uns such as Pant and the older ones such as DK. That stumping today that removed Rashid Khan was sheer lightning. Plus... if v r at Over 48 and needing 24 runs, I would rather have Dhoni batting than anyone else in the world. Amazing super-Being.

One match and people start complaining about Dhoni, but hardly a whimper about Jadhav. He only showed some spirit against Afghanistan, of all teams. Might as well have played Jadeja instead.

Anyway, that was a close scare, but a good lesson for us in our next game against the Windies.

Its not just one match. Its been a regular feature of his batting. Why do you think there have been calls for his removal for at least the last couple of years. Its takes the rhythm of other batsmen away and puts pressure on them to make up for Dhoni's wastefulness.
Dhoni actually slowed down towards the end of the innings.

I don’t personally watch cricket. So don’t know how sponsorships work but it would have been nice to see Indian company rather than Chinese. Personally preferred LCA HAL sponsorship, Bharat Forge, etc. GoI could have placed few more orders to take of the expenses. Win win for all.

Congratulations to our team for winning the Women's FIH Series Finals hockey tournament.
This stupendous victory will further popularise hockey and also inspire many young girls to excel in the sport.
Not sure why Kabaddi league chose PKL as initials. Something without PK in the front would have been better. Another Chinese sponsor.

I suppose IKL would have worked (like IPL) but why concede PK to mean the evil neighbour? ProKabaddi League naturally becomes PKL.

Are Afghanistan and BD are playing on the same pitch as we played? I guess there is a lesson or two for us to learn from the BD batsmen.

Even SRT is unhappy with MSD's attitude.
I'm surprised that he spoke out because for all his stature, he goes out of his way to be non-controversial and avoid any confrontation (unlike Sunil Gavaskar).

Tendulkar unhappy with Dhoni's lack of 'positive intent'
MS Dhoni's 28 in 52 balls against Afghanistan, perhaps the most glaring go-slow in a poor Indian batting effort overall, hasn't gone down well with Sachin Tendulkar, who said that Dhoni, especially, should have shown more intent against the spinners. The combined figures of Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Rahmat Shah read 34-0-119-5.

Speaking to India Today after the game, Tendulkar said, "MS Dhoni is a senior player and should show positive intent. Afghanistan's bowling is good but you can't score only 119 runs in 34 overs. He did not show any positive intent against Afghanistan."
"MS Dhoni has the ability to hit but yesterday his strike rotation was not good. He faced too many dot balls and this hampered a strong finish for India," Tendulkar said. "The intent could have been much better by the middle-order batsmen.

"I believe MS Dhoni needs to up his ante when it comes to strike rotation in the next matches."

I don't mind England not making it to the semis, but if they do not, the most likely candidates to take their place are BD and Pakis. Sri Lanka has a chance too but unlikely to make it.

Arjun Tendulkar has grown really tall.
Image

He looks athletic too but is probably not. His run up to the wicket looks laborious and he should probably bring his bowling hand closer to the vertical.

SRT is closer to the camera. Being closer to the camera apparently makes a lot of difference. I read somewhere that Mark Zuckerberg always stays closer to the camera than others to appear taller. He is 5'7" but by staying closer to the camera than others, he appears taller than people who are 6 feet.

Last year after the CWG I suggested that we pull out of the next CWG in Birmingham 2022, where shooting has been eliminated from the list of events . Well, IOA is mooting just that, with the Sports Minister stating that such decisions can only be made by the government, which is true:
IOA mulling decision to pull out of CWG 2022
I strongly support a pull out .

Need Dilbullah here to lungi-shiver. Shades of the cursed Champions Trophy: Pakis have woken up, while NZ is following SA to the exit. This was a real, honest and decisive win.
What's with this Net Run Rate? (why is India's so bad?) You can't have a big net run rate if you keep batting second, can you?

Pak is facing Afg and BD next. Will win against AFg and probably against BD (Mansion fire insurance at stake). Which will boost them ahead of BD.
England is facing India and NZ. No comment, they will fix the pitch, weather, boundaries, food, ball, umpires, DRS, everything.
NZ is looking at England and AUS. Sure to lose at least one, probably both. In which case they crash out.
Lungi-shiver time.

Only England's position is in doubt unless India messes up real bad and loses to WI and Sri Lanka along with England and BD.

Likely scenario.
England wins against NZ to get 10 points. Or it could win against India or both.
India wins against BD, so BD is at 9 points if it wins against Pak and Afg.
BD wins against Pak, so Pak is stuck at 9 points.

Or even better scenarios, SL loses to India but wins the other two. So its on 10.
England loses both its remaining matches and is at 8 points.
Pak and BD are stuck at 9 points.

So! bowlers save the day!! I say that Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Kartik should be given a chance in middle order instead of Vijay S and Jadhav. 260s is very easy to chase in these conditions. I am not sure what Vijay S did to get a guaranteed selection in world cup. Even R Ashwin has more experience and has proven himself.

I think the pitch is not as good as what is advertised and the WI bowling attack was not that bad. So all Indian batsman had their share of dots. I think we are scrutinizing Dhoni more microscopically than before. If Dhoni would have been more aggressive there is a chance of aggravating the middle order collapse and the score would have been much less.
