'There should be no suspicion over Pak's counter-terror commitments'
Pakistan's ambassador to the US Hussain Haqqani addressing a packed audience of American South Asia experts and policy analysts and a select few journalists at the Washington, DC-based think thank, the Atlantic Council, said, "For all those who still point out the lack of conviction on the part of Pakistan in fighting the militants, I would just point out that in 2009, we had an average of 10 Pakistani soldiers killed every day in fighting the militants."

"And there have been more than 31,000 casualties, of which 10,000 took place in 2009  ," he said, and added, "Pakistan has deployed 80 percent of its army aviation fighting the militants, and there are nine infantry divisions, 483 artillery pieces, and 142 tanks committed to this effort. So, sometimes people don't understand the nature of this war."
He claimed that Pakistan has "lost more intelligence personnel than any other country in the war against terrorism during the last two years.

Madarsa math in action ??
365 (in 2009) days * 10 = 3650 .. 10,000 would be approximately 300 % higher than that.

As tensions rose there was a verbal exchange between Pakistan batsman Khalid Latif and wicketkeeper Mohammad Shahzad

US brands 3 LeT terrorists as global terrorists
The Secretary of State, in consultation with the Secretary of the Treasury and the US Attorney-General, has amended the designation of LeT by adding Falah-i-Insaniat Foundation (FIF) as an alias of LeT, the State Department announced Wednesday.

The Department of the Treasury also designated LeT senior leader and current head of FIF, Hafiz Abdur Rauf, Mian Abdullah, the head of LeT's traders department, and Mohmmad Naushad Alam Khan, a key financial facilitator for LeT, as Specially Designated Global Terrorists.

Linking ISI to 26/11 attacks preposterous: Pakistan
Pakistan today said it was preposterous to link the ISI to the Mumbai attacks, a day after a US court issued summons to the powerful spy agency's chief and others in connection with the 2008 carnage.

Foreign office spokesperson Abdul Basit said Pakistan was was committed to bringing the perpetrators of the carnage to justice as India prepares to observe the second anniversary of the carnage unleashed by 10 LeT terrorists on the country's financial capital tomorrow.

‘NATO containers have caused Rs 82bn damage to Pak roads’: APP
ISLAMABAD: Minister for Communications Arbab Alamgir has said containers that carry NATO goods have caused damage of around Rs 82 billion to infrastructure of Pakistan’s communication network.

Giving an assessment, he said about 500 trucks travelled to Afghanistan daily from Karachi with supplies for NATO forces.

These heavy trucks were damaging Pakistani roads and highways, he told to VoA.

He said the government had taken up this issue with NATO, however no progress had been made in this regard.

“We will again take up the issue with NATO as our 80 percent traffic flows through these highways which are in very bad condition due to travel by heavy containers,” he maintained.
Please more money!
Next Arbab Alamgir would be saying, the NATO trucks have increased the carbon footprint in Pakistan, and children are having lung problems now. NATO should pay!

More on this defeat:

That wailing feeling....
Pakistan fast bowler Aisaz Cheema said his teammates were devastated by the loss and hoped their demanding supporters at home would forgive them. “We are very depressed. We cried at first :(( :(( because we expected to win,” he said. “Everyone was watching at home. They will not be pleased, but they’ll forgive us in time.”

Per this (Click hiyar pileaj) paki source, there are 9574 KM of national highways and motorways including the famed KKH. That's 134,036,000 Square Meters of metalled surface (four-lane highways at an average of 3.5 meters width per lane). If my HP-19BII is right, that is 611 Paki Rupees (or $7.50) per SqM!! That is some union job. Where do I apply? Or do I need to relearn my Madarasa Math?

Wait!! It gets better. Some more on that earth shaking paki defeat by the Afghans: Ghar ka bhedi Lanka Dhahaye

Rashid Latif’s message inspires Afghanistan to upset win
Afghanistan coach Rashid Latif didn’t want his players to be overawed against Pakistan in the Asian Games cricket semifinals, so he hand delivered a message containing a Quranic verse to inspire them.
“Do not be scared of your rivals in WAR. Understand that they are also humans and are scared as well,”
Latif, the former Pakistan test cricketer, told The Associated Press as he wrapped an Afghan flag around his shoulders.
There was a sour note to the win, though, with Pakistan captain Khalif Latif accusing Afghanistan wicketkeeper Mohammad Shahzad of using abusive language. “Yes he used some bad words in urdu language which I cannot reveal, but it didn’t play any part in my dismissal,” Khalid Latif said.
Reminds me of a quip:

Pagal Icky Sehgal's latest bout of diarrhea
I guess his sojourn in India forty years ago still pains him when he visits pakhanistan every morning.

21st century 'Great Game'
Columbus went in search of the tantalising and coveted yellow metal called gold in the New World. It inspired a rush to places as diverse as California and Alaska in the 19th century.
Enormous gold and copper lodes exist underneath the north-western horn of Balochistan, a mostly inhabitable desert area in Chagai district of perhaps 5,000 sq kms (100 kms west to east and 50 kms north to south), which makes it perhaps the richest real estate in the world today.
No two guesses where this verbal vomit is going.
Kaplan accuses China of inspiring the new conflict. That is not true: China is only reacting late to the impending encroachment into its own vicinity, an area that gives it land access to other areas through the Karakorams.
This should earn him a all-expense paid vacation to Chacha Chinaland.
Attracted to Balochistan like bees to honey, everyone and his uncle has ideas of how to bring about "democracy," not only in this province of feudal lords but a possible "Greater Balochistan."
If leaders like the Bugtis, Marris and Mengals are democrats, Adolf Hitler was a pacifist!
The Taliban's being lumped together with the terrorists provides the casus belli.
Those who brokered the initial Reko Diq deal, BHP Billiton and its Pakistani agents, have already made billions and are happily settled abroad.
So, thats his beef. Looks like he did not get his due commission from that deal or a free Canadian visa. And the final rub:
While that snub of sorts one could live with, the real defining moment came when supposed NATO ally Pakistan – despite the 10:1 ratio between its soldiers' casualties and those of all the coalition partners put together – was not even invited to the NATO summit in Lisbon, although Afghanistan's Karzai was. We have been reduced to being paid mercenaries who do their master's bidding but are not invited to dine at the master's table.
A loud :(( :(( :((

Good Looking Pakistani Diplomats Secure Flood Aid Via NASDAQ Billboard
– September 13, 2010Posted in: International
Reports indicate that the Pakistani diplomats convinced the NASDAQ to allow them to put an advertisement on their Times Square billboard to help raise funds for the victims. According to a spokesman of the NASDAQ, the “Pakistani diplomats have embarked on a truly generous cause to help raise awareness and support for the tragedy that has recently befallen to Pakistani people, and we found it imperative to lend our assistance in anyway possible.”

The diplomats, after a lengthy brainstorming session during a stroll down Broadway, decided that the best advertising campaign would be to put up pictures of themselves. Adnan Abdullah, a spokesman for the group, said that they all figured that since they are all ridiculously good looking, their sex-appeal would be the best way to raise cash. “Masha Allah, we are such fine handsome men,” said the spokesman. “And given how well known we are to the locals courtesy of Faisal Shahzad, putting up our profiles was the way to go.” The diplomats told Maila Times that they were confident in their looks, describing how their good looks were what got them to where they were in the first place.

Monica Grove, a tourist visiting New York City at the time, said that after seeing the billboard, she immediately pledged $5000 to the Pakistani flood victims. “They were just so handsome,” said Ms. Grove. “I had to do what I could, in order to save all of those cute little brown babies.” Morgan Trent, a homeless man who lives near Times Square, decided to get a job and make something of himself after seeing the billboards, so that one day he could have enough money to donate to the flood victims. “I’m getting clean man, straight up,” said Mr. Trent. “After seeing those successful suits up on that plasma screen, I knew what I had to do.”

No progress yet in arrest of doctor accused of rape
POLICE are liaising with Interpol for the arrest of a doctor accused of raping a 32-year-old patient. He is believed to have fled to Pakistan.
Dr Nasir Syed was the chief medical officer of Nelson Mandela Bay’s state clinics at the time.
“The investigation is continuing and we are providing information to Interpol so that they can assist us with his arrest,” police spokesman Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said. “We do not have a set deadline that he must be brought back to the country, but as soon as Interpol get hold of him they will notify us.”
Police discovered Syed had fled the country when they went to his Malabar house last week to arrest him. Days later, Syed’s colleague, Dr Mohammed Bhatti, 51, was arrested at his Glendinningvale home after he was accused of offering the woman money to drop the case.
Bhatti – who is based at the Rape Crisis Centre at Dora Nginza Hospital, but has been suspended pending the outcome of the case – was charged with defeating the ends of justice and corruption.
Bhatti was released on R5000 bail on the same day he was arrested and is due to appear in court again in February.

Man arrested in connection with Times Square probe faces immigration charge
A Pakistani immigrant from Watertown allegedly gave $4,900 to Faisal Shahzad, the would-be Times Square bomber, in a meeting in Watertown in February, federal authorities said today.
Ali allegedly entered the country in August 2009 to marry his then-fiancee and began working at a Brookline gas station without a work permit, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors allege that about three months later, after marrying a different woman, Ali defrauded the government by filing documents to adjust his immigration status. In those documents, prosecutors said, he knowingly omitted his unauthorized employment.

Ali also allegedly concealed his employment at the gas station when he was questioned by agents searching his Waverley Avenue apartment as part of the Times Square bombing investigation, prosecutors said.

Didn't find anything sensational nor objectionable in that interview. Plus I doubt rolling stones has made the kind of offensive allegation against US (9/11) as FT did against India (26/11). But I've made my point, MMS should not have given that interview to that condescending FT bloke. Lets move on to bigger fish.

MI6 'blamed for Taliban impostor'
The British intelligence service is said to have spent a year nurturing and paying a man claiming to be Mullah Akhtar Muhammad Mansour, one of the most senior commanders of the Taliban.

They are said to have paid him at least $100,000 (£63,500) and flew him to meetings with Afghan officials in an attempt to broker a deal between the government and the insurgents.

Eventually an Afghan who knew the real Mansour revealed their mistake but the man was allowed to return to Pakistan, according to reports.
MI6 is thought to have made contact with "Mansour" in Quetta, the Pakistani city where the leadership of the Taliban is based.
It is unclear who was responsible for trying to verify "Mansour's" identity, but sources say the British cannot be held entirely responsible.
American officials have claimed they were "sceptical from the start" about the identity of the man who was supposed to be the second in command of the Taliban behind Mullah Omar.

Some officials say the man may simply have been a fraudster while others have claimed he was a Taliban agent and Afghans say he is nothing more than a shopkeeper.

Pakistani charity is blacklisted by US State Department
The US state department has added a Pakistani charity allegedly linked to militancy to its terror blacklist.

It said that Falah-e-Insaniyat (FeF) was an "alias" of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), which is already on its list of "foreign terrorist organisations".
...
...
"LeT has attempted to use the FeF as a way to evade scrutiny. This designation will help put to an end to that attempted evasion," state department co-ordinator for counter-terrorism Daniel Benjamin said in a statement announcing the move.

Mr Benjamin also named FeF leader Hafiz Abdur Rauf and two other men associated with LeT, Mian Abdullah and Mohammad Naushad Alam Khan, as being on its list of "specially designated global terrorists."
