Admission of state sponsored terrorism by Pakistani authorities

see this Der Spigel Interview where Musharraf admits to that.

On 7th Nov in TimesNow Channel, Tasneem Noorani, a former Secretary of the Pakistani Interior Ministry, openly said that.

Kiyani called the Haqqanis as strategic assets.

In Dec. 2008, President Zardari himself admitted to ISI helping LeT. He said,"The links between the Inter-Services Intelligence Agency and the LeT were developed in the old days when dictators used to run the country. After the 9/11 terror attacks in the US, things have changed to a great extent"

In an address to bureaucrats in July 2009, President Zardari said: "Militants and extremists were deliberately created and nurtured as a policy to achieve some short-term tactical objectives. Let us be truthful to ourselves and make a candid admission of the realities. The terrorists of today were the heroes of yesteryears until 9/11 occurred and they began to haunt us as well"

In Nov. 2009, Prime Minister Gilani admitted to the support for terrorism by Musharraf as "running with the hares and hunting with the hounds".

When Bush warned the Pakistanis in August 2008 of their support to Al Qaeda, Afrasiab Khattak, President of Awami National Party (ANP) said this: "The question is why it has taken the Americans so long to see what the ISI is doing. We’ve been telling them for years but they wouldn’t buy it.". See here.

In an interview to the BBC as far back as on Feb. 13, 1994, Benazir Bhutto admitted how she handed over to Rajiv Gandhi the complete list of Sikh activists colluding with the ISI in terrorism in the Punjab. Later, Nawaz Sharif described this interview as a faux pas.

Apart from these, of course, numerous Pakistani commentators, analysts, and editors have openly admitted to terror as a state policy.

Why Did Pakistan's Spy Chief Make a Secret Trip to China?
Pasha's China trip has been interpreted by some as a tacit act of defiance—a reminder to his American counterparts that the Pakistanis can always look east to their “all-weather” friend across the Himalayas rather than bend the knee to the will of the U.S.

But it also may be a sign of China's growing disquiet with Pakistan. Another top-ranking Pakistani military officer, Lt. Gen Wahid Arshad, had already conducted a considerable tour of China just weeks ago in a bid to improve ties. A few analysts have suggested that Pasha's trip — couched in vague terms about building a “broad-based strategic dialogue” — may have been less a visit and more of a summons.
Chinese officials claimed the attacks in Kashgar were authored by the shadowy East Turkestan Islamic Movement, a jihadist organization of mostly ethnic Uighurs, a Turkic Muslim minority that comprises the majority in the far-western Chinese region of Xinjiang. China routinely invokes the specter of the terrorist threat when cracking down on dissent in the restive region. Yet disturbances there tend to be triggered more often by social discontent — many Uighurs chafe at state policies they deem discriminatory and marginalizing — than militant connivance. Pasha's presence in Beijing may mark Beijing's continued efforts to root out Uighur dissidents and sympathizers beyond China's borders, as it has already done in Kazakhstan.

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari left Pakistan suddenly on Tuesday, complaining of heart pains, and is now in Dubai. His planned testimony before a joint session of Pakistan's parliament on the Memogate scandal is now postponed indefinitely.
Ijaz has repeatedly accused Haqqani of being behind the memo, and Ijaz claims that Haqqani was working with Zardari's implicit support.

Early on Tuesday morning, Zardari's spokesman revealed that the president had traveled to Dubai to see his children and undergo medical tests linked to a previously diagnosed "cardiovascular condition."

A former U.S. government official told The Cable today that when President Barack Obama spoke with Zardari over the weekend regarding NATO's killing of the 24 Pakistani soldiers, Zardari was "incoherent." The Pakistani president had been feeling increased pressure over the Memogate scandal. "The noose was getting tighter -- it was only a matter of time," the former official said, expressing the growing expectation inside the U.S. government that Zardari may be on the way out.
"Unfortunately, it means that the military may have had to use its muscle to effect change yet again," said Nawaz. "Now if they stay at arm's length and let the party take care of its business, then things may improve. If not, then this is a silent coup with [Pakistani prime minister Yousaf Raza] Gilani as the front man."
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the chairman of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), is in Pakistan now.
More confirmation that Mansoor Ijaz could be GHQ's agent who was used to mount a silent coup. AoA!

U.S. defies Pakistan blocade, rerouts Afghan war supplies (Salt Lake City Tribune)
The U.S. military is working around a Pakistani government border blockade by shipping small amounts of some supplies for the Afghan war through alternate countries, U.S. defense officials said Tuesday.
One official said selected items in very small amounts have been shifted to "other means of delivery" in the last few days. The official declined to be more specific.
The rerouted supplies, like all that go through Pakistan, are non-lethal items.

Key US senators urge review of Pakistan funding (AFP)
WASHINGTON — The United States must "fully review" its ties with Pakistan and consider cuts or new restrictions to military and economic aid, Republican senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham urged.
McCain serves as the top Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, while Graham is a member of that panel and is the top Republican on the committee that allocates US foreign aid.
"The United States has been incredibly patient with Pakistan. And we have been so despite certain undeniable and deeply disturbing facts," they said. "The time has come for the United States to fully review its relations with Pakistan. We must assess the nature and levels of our support."

"All options regarding US security and economic assistance to Pakistan must be on the table, including substantial reductions and stricter standards for performance," they said.
"US policy toward Pakistan must proceed from the realistic understanding that certain actions of Pakistan's military are contributing to the death and injury of our men and women in the military and jeopardizing our national security interests," said the senators.

Dear Nihat
It is not just a matter of not speculation.

As you might know, MNF Chief Laldenga who later signed a pact (in the 80s) came overground, disarmed his outfit and was elected CM of Mizoram. His reason in entering negotiations was specific: loss of bases in East Pakistan after the creation of BD.

Finally your notion that Pak
Finally your notion that Pak has no strategic value and especially you need to couch that in terms of India have far greater value speaks to your own views of a zero sum game as it relates to India vs Pak. I tend to disagree - since I believe your views are view of the past. India and Pakistan are well along the way to normalization. Another 5 years and we'll begin to see both those countries have greater economic integration. For India too Pakistan has far greater strategic value that Afghanistan.

Pakistan strategic value exists in the following:

Pakistan impacts India positively or negatively (obviously we want a positive impact - so India can grow and prosper). A weak or confrontation Pakistan will impede India regardless of her recent accomplishments. For a true breaking of the mould both countries need to move past their history.

Pakistan will be the fourth most populace country in the world and provides tremendous opportunities and pitfalls if not retained within the Western orbit. A shift to the Chinese orbit is occurring - both India and the West needs to halt that.

Pakistan is central to the Central Asia. With access through Pakistan - CA is not reachable.

Pakistan is central to Chinese containment. Pakistan can be a deal breaker in the overall strategy to contain China. This is central for the West and India.

Pakistan is a nuclear nation and her stability is central to the safety of India and other interests.

I can go on but any of the above is strategic in my estimation

Take Out
Take out this, take out that, bomb this, bomb that. What are you guys smoking here. Have you ever traveled the world. Have you been to these countries that you want to take out. Do you even have the remotest sense of the size we are talking about. The Afghan-Pak border is 2300KM long. Yes that is 2300KM - through mountain ranges that would make the Rockies looks like the Appalachia Hills of West Virginia.

So quit smoking and wake up. Fighting Arabs and small Latin American countries is one thing. "Taking out", a nation of nearly 900,000 square km landmass, and 200 million people (perhaps one of the worlds most armed populace), an Army that has fought a foe 4 times her size, and finally a country with all three system for nuclear delivery, not to mention one of the world largest diaspora - only when you truly begin to appreciate this - do you begin to realize why McArthur warned Kennedy when he said Never Start A Land War in Asia.

Problem is as Americans we seldom travel the world - we seldom get out of our comfort-zone world view. We build realities out of a prism that is stuck.

Lets quit with these wars, lets reach out via our trade, and our views and culture. That is the smart projection of power. The path we are taking is a path to nowhere but loss of our young generations and treasure, with an eventual demise of our promise.

The thesis is that Islamic inheritance law is unfavorable for capital formation.
Muslims in India had a choice of Hindu-based or Islamic law until the British, with few exceptions, (Khojas, Bohras, etc) imposed Islamic law on Muslims in the 1860s. Thus Muslims (and Hindu communities with peculiar laws) fell behind in the economic race.

The next drone strike and people will be out baying for blood. PA will put him in the dock..easiest of the lot to sacrifice. He knows when to cut a deal and when to cut from Gutterstan. Lot's of Paki elite now will be leaving in droves. Gutterstan will start to unravel sooner than we expect i guess.

Lashkar-i-Jhangvi claims responsibility for attack on Shias in Kabul
The Taliban denied any role in Tuesday’s attacks. But a spokesman for the Pakistani militant group Lashkar-i-Jhangvi called a station operated by Radio Free Europe to assert responsibility. If the claim is true, it would mark the first time that the group, which has ties to al-Qaeda, has carried out a major attack in Afghanistan.

Lashkar-i-Jhangvi militants have systematically assassinated Shiites and attacked their religious gatherings in Pakistan. The ISI has supported Lashkar-i-Jhangvi in the past, though it is not known whether the organizations maintain ties. The attack could also worsen the already thorny relationship between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The Afghan government and U.S. officials have accused elements of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence directorate (ISI) of helping to execute attacks in Afghanistan, including several recent high-profile strikes in Kabul.

There is never a dull moment in Pakistan. Zardari is said to have gone to Dubai for an angioplasty. This should not be cause enough for his rumoured resignation. If the rumours end up as mere rumours, then we can safely conclude they were planted by the ISI. They have done everything in the last three years to dislodge him but he has remained stubborn. If the rumours turn out to be true, then also it was the ISI's handiwork because it 'brokered' his exit. Pakistan is indeed strange, like matter and anti-matter. It has strategic-depth and reverse strategic-depth; Kargil and reverse Kargil; coup and reverse coup.

What do we do without Pakistan ?

If Zardari quits,it will also be "quits" for his PPP in any forthcoming election. The unveiling of bilawal, not too long ago perhaps was a sign that Zardari was planning to take a abck seat as relationswitht he US and Pak have gone downhil and are now below ground almost reaching sewer level. The "Zardar" has no control over his army, increasingly little control over his PM and if as was anticipated,a militayr coup by Gen.Kill-any the "Vulture",The Zardar would be sent back to his famous prison cell where he spent years repenting!

Therefore his "heart attack" might be indeed contrived and used by him as an escape route to become the fall guy when the Paki sh*t hits the Pres.Palace! He is also a survivor who well knows that the ""end of the affair" of the rent-boy and his "sugar Uncle" will bring about great turmoil within Pak and invite the inevitable army coup."Memogate" has only contributed towards his hasty anticipated exit.Perhaps the ISI is also spreading therumour of his stepping down,to helpspeed him on his way! They can then put forward their preferred puppet pres. candidate and Pak is full of such "men who would be king"!

PS:The suicide attack against Shiites in Afghanistan is the Taliban/ISI's way of paying the US back for the 28 porkis killed in the air attack.Typical of the Paki state, feared to fight a battle with an equal, hit out as usual at the weak,in this case the Afghans.Shiites were targets because fundoo men of of the ISI care little for Muslims of rival sects like the equally mainstream Shiites ,anathema to Sunni Pakistan.

For the RAPE in Pakistan, it made sense to live and swear by Pakistan only as long as Pakistan was American MuNNA. Now with that relationship in the doldrums, what is there really to live for? Earlier the Army had an incentive to keep a civilian face up front! After the OBL hit, all the masks behind which Pakistan was hiding fell of like dominoes. When the Warthog is now seen completely naked, does it really make any sense for it to straighten its bow-tie?

The relations are going downhill so quickly, that the Army would rethink its need to have any civilian face at all, including that of Imran Khan!

Not sure what is there for the deep state to gain by going after 10%. If the move is somewhat godfatherish to send the message that you cannot cross the Army and live to tell the story, that message has sunk into the genes of every Pakbaric jehadi animal by now anyway. If it is to replace with a more 'convenient' puppet, then who is that? In any event the President, not to speak of the Parliament and Prime Minister, don't have much powers anyway.

If Zardari has indeed courted the west against the Army, then TSPA chooses to burn all bridges with the western world and that shows the sort of rabid attitude that Saddam and Gadaffi take. We all know where they ended up..it also means TSPA is beyond caring and hence is a much bigger threat to India in the immediate future. MMS & Co better watch out and keep eyes peeled for a Mumbai type attack.

BTW does this say anything..

A Dubai-based member of Zardari's Pakistan People's Party, Mian Muneer Hans, said the president landed in Dubai around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

"He walked to his car in the airport and was not on any ambulance," said Hans, adding that he was accompanied by his doctor and petroleum minister Asim Hussain. Zardari was taken straight to the American Hospital in Dubai, said Hans.

This might as well have been written or dictated by the ISI. The Boston Globe:
