ooh Don't get touchy darling. Read the sentence that I wrote. It is clear enough. I did not write sarabpal is mocking. I wrote "I woold stop my mocking at some Laxman Rekha". If you actually bothered to read my earlier posts you might see who is mocking.sarabpal.s wrote:Dear who is mocking???shiv wrote:

we are discussing about it for uses in current scenarios, nobody say that they should stop innovating but There should some proper guidance what to and how to do it in practical.
This is Indian Juggad but need some refining.

Isn't the Chakra Rath designed for urban warfare?
Is this is the case:
1. the windshields are logical to me.
2. I don't see a need for independent axles.
3. I don't see a need for the vehicle to be 6X6.

Indranilroy - to me it looks like the width of the vehicle would keep it out of most narrow inner city lanes of India just like the US's Mogadishu debacle.
Re: DEFEXPO-2012: March 29 to April 1, 2012 - Photos & News
That could be a valid question ... but the volume of the vehicle is there for a reason.

chakra rath is not capable of handling the bump on the urban road as these are not formula 1 racetracks.indranilroy wrote:Isn't the Chakra Rath designed for urban warfare?

everybody know the road in India...
how braket can whole full load of vehicle I show the pic of ashok Leyland truck suspension and BMP suspension.
some solutions is sacrifice low profile of BMP add some big tyre and upgrade suspension on the line of ashok Leyland trucks.
Re: DEFEXPO-2012: March 29 to April 1, 2012 - Photos & News
^^^ You are basing that statement based on some pics ... We have no idea about the stiffness of those leaf springs? Besides the stallion (for which you provided the pic) is a beast which can handle almost anything you throw at it. The Chakra RAth doesn't need that kind of suspensions. Presently can this vehicle go where police and soldiers had to go in open Tata 407s.
I believe this is not a final product. This is just a rough first draft.

That turret+gun will not go very well with Law Enforcement needs..
Plus, why is low profile needed for urban warfare ???

Forgive me for moving a little off topic, but looking at Jamwal sir's pic, i was reminded of the "SIMON" door buster that was shown on a re-run of Future weapons....I remember my relative(who commanded one for the RR battalions in J&K) discussing the issue of porkis sitting behind a door waiting for one of our boys to smash and enter so that they could shoot/kill atleast one before being taken down...wouldn't the "SIMON System" help in eliminating this particular problem of entering..considering that we are anyway going to kick the door down so to speak?
Re: DEFEXPO-2012: March 29 to April 1, 2012 - Photos & News
There is no way the second one can be powered , without some major redesign effort. It is a simple front wheel drive vehicle. I could have done a better job by armoring a three wheel auto at a much cheaper price, with a bigger view compared to the aircraft tractor BMP hybrid piece of (r@p the OFB came up with.Gurneesh wrote:The Chakra Rath is definetly not 6x6. The third axle (from front) is for sure not powered. Seeing how low the vehicle is, i am not sure if the second one is powered either. Cannot be sure about second because there is no clear pic of the underside.Bala Vignesh wrote:
Based on your video, I am guessing that the Chakra rath is basically a modified body of a BMP-2 mounted on the chassis of a stallion 6*6. Now if that is true, the chassis of the Stallion is designed to carry a gross weight of 14.5 tons, which is around the total weight of the BMP2. If we are to subtract the weight of the tracked drive, say around 500-600 Kgs, it becomes lighter than the original BMP, which weighs in at 14.3 tonnes.
Based on the above, IMO, the Chakra Rath, ugly as it is, could be quite useful in urban warfare, base protection and many other second line roles.
Gurulog, please correct me if I am wrong.

At best has power to two axles.
Agree with other members that will not be very mobile on rough terrain (even big pot holes)

Is it safe to assume that you have quite a bit of experience in designing such state of the art armoured 3 wheelers ?

I have a better idea. Design a unicycle and use it to ferry your like minded friends in even more congested places. It's going to be much better than what professional engineers working for some dumb PSU can think of.
Read it , if you havent

shiv wrote:Looking again at this "Chakra Rath" I am reminded of the interview with Mahindra boss man on a video posted earlier in this thread. He said that in earlier years Mahindra (the company) had tried to modify an existing chassis to suit what the army might want. He went on to say that this has now changed after they realised that such an approach was wrong. They now create dedicated designs for army use. This "Chakra rath" looks like a "Churkendoose" a fairly tale animal consisting of parts of a chicken, turkey, duck and goose stuck together.
Some company has taken parts from 2-3 existing assembly lines and welded them together as a "concept vehicle" - and a pathetic looking one at that. But clearly some executive in that company has given permission for someone to "play" and innovate and has sanctioned several lakhs/tens of lakhs for that. Even if it is very ugly and looks dysfunctional, play/experimentation is the first step towards serious innovation. So I would stop my mocking at some laxman-rekha.
