so, what would the max payload or weight the mach 3 facility can do? otoh, can we get it drive an lca-frame to mach 2? etc..

DRDO
Akash supersonic missiles intercepts moving target in ripple mode
Three Akash missiles were launched today i.e. 28th May 2014 from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Balasore, on tow body target of Lakshya (pilotless target aircraft) moving at “low altitude far boundary” and ripple mode missions. The missiles intercepted the fast moving and maneuvering small RCS targets within small interval of five seconds in ripple mode. Indian Air Force teams operated the deliverable Akash missile system including targets. The missiles were successfully guided by multifunction phased array radar developed by Electronics and Radar Development Establishment (LRDE) a DRDO Lab and produced by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL). The missiles developed by Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL) along with 13 other DRDO Laboratories and produced by Bharat Dynamics Limited. The launchers were developed by R&DE (Engrs), a DRDO lab and produced by Tata Power and L&T.
Shri Avinash Chander, Scientific Advisor to Raksha Mantri congratulated all the teams from DRDO, Production agencies and Indian Air Force for successfully organizing the event and fulfilling the mission objectives of the evaluation tests on deliverable equipment. He also stated that various industries across the country are engaged in production of Akash subsystems of military grade/aerospace quality systems and have emerged successfully in meeting the stringent requirements.

Akash is maturing in to a potent system. Something so rigorously tested is much better than a fancier untested expensive imported maal in a war situation.
What is stopping us from using it on Naval vessels. Have not heard of Barak's been tested so hard and so often (understandable since each Barak missile is gold plated expensive)

Pinaka rockets successfully test-fired from Chandipur
India’s indigenously developed Pinaka rockets were successfully test-fired thrice on Thursday from a multi-barrel rocket launcher at an armament base in Chandipur-on-sea.
“Three rounds of Pinaka rockets were successfully tested from the proof and experimental establishment (PXE) at Chandipur,” defence sources said.

It is assumed that, given the existing Russian developments a bilateral series of works on creation of the SFA will take about 9-10 years.
"At the moment conducting a series of ground tests of integrated technologies. Bench tests will take about another 4-5 years. Sample We will improve and apply new materials", - informed Pillai. According to him, during the flight tests will take about the same time. "Perhaps this step using new machine configurations will last a little longer," - he said.

Mr. Pillai had talked about Hypersonic CM aka Brahmos II several times (since last 3-4 years now). Including air launched version and now a lighter version of Brahmos.
His developmental estimates are more optimistic then DRDO itself.

Well, they have so many programs already underway which require their current focus. Plus, resources are not infinite & DRDO head is already complaining that existing funds are just enough to run some programs at full speed (not all) and more funds are required for future programs.
But HAL was making a copy of the AA-2 Atoll.
It was as bad as the original.
Then interest dropped as France was providing Magic AAM etc.

Rumours are that a Mach 7 air launnched mussile was tested. Remember that K aeries included one such missile.

If I remember right based on discussions on BRF Hal made AA2 copy with a radar guided seeker which was terminated.

I have pointed out repeatedly to no avail that DRDO considers Astra-1 to be CCM ie WVR also due to its high maneuver ability.
