MH 370 got a thread.besides this crash has far greater geopolitical ramifications than 370..

Plane was carrying Americans and Europeans, so this will get VERY ugly.

I don't think this is Americans pinning anything. The Russian rebels claimed shooting down an aircraft before they knew it was a civilian passenger flight.

Can a passenger plane flying at cruising altitude be shot using portable missiles ? probably not. So it must have involved some sort of a military guidance system or a fighter jet. Since the debris have been found on land, the truth will surface. If Russia is indeed involved, it is Korean Air 007 all over again.

One expert on CNN says he is not yet ready to buy the shooting down theory. His claim is that if surface to air missile brought it down, there would have been some kind of a plume from the air all the way down to the ground. And in this case there is none. Even Obama speaking in Delaware gave a very brief statement saying this could be a tragedy, but said investigation is on.

Depends on what ethnic or racial makeup. It is pretty simple and hard to miss every day reality US media (both local and mainstream) on how these two factors influence the reporting and reaction.

AnMolJi, there were 23 Americans apparently. They have not yet mentioned how many Europeans. As for the rest, I am not sure they amount to all a lot in US eyes.

The Ukrainians mentioned the Buk SAM being used (a medium range Russian system with its own radar. It can easily shoot down an airliner at cruising altitude). I don't know if they are really sure of what happened or are just using this as propaganda against the separatists and the Russians.

I hope the black box recorder can quickly be recovered.

The area where it crashed is rebel held AFAIK. That will complicate matters.

The reason is its related to the crisis there.

MH-370 was different and is still not resolved.

MH-370 was used to bombout either the Nuke plant in TN or the Arihant in Vizag. It was shot down but neither shooter nor the perpetrator want to acknowledge.

MH-17 is also used to spy on some troop stuff in Ukraine. Shot down. The Malasian Air is being used for military purposes while carrying passengers.

I think the Malaysian Air guys were stupid to have their plane fly through that area and the Ukrainians probably let it happen, knowing some cr@p like this would occur with the separatists having already taken potshots and shot down UkAF aircraft. Otherwise how in heck would the Ukrainians so confidently state a Buk missile system targeted the aircraft? They wouldn't dare to do it themselves (perhaps) but knew very well what was happening in that area and what the situation was. Sad situation- so many people lost, may they RIP.

This incident is already being discussed in the EE/Ukraine thread. Locking this thread before more value put into it.
