Yes and most probably heavily invested in TN elections given the proximity to TN and he probably was a Tamil Muslim.

Boss Siddaramiah opened the school and bent the rules along with many INC ministers for this guy to have control of the Government school. The parents of the said Govt school had to contribute to IMA. HDK was also close to Mansoor Khan attending many of iftar gatherings. Also one present Karnataka Govt minister tried to pressurize Karnataka bureaucracy to give completely false certificate for the said gent to get a 700crore nationalized Bank loan to prolong the scan a couple of months ago. With all this info. Available it is not baseless. And it was RBi alert plus Central Government agencies questions to Karnataka Govt which made the state CB CID to finally question him on June 6 and this guy fled on June 8. And this is all baseless???

It must be noted that ponzi schemes like IMA etc. also was "halal". In fact majority of the people who have lost money in ponzi schemes of IMA are Muslims who got lured with the "halal" tag. So this is a classic case of green on green. The government should actually use this chance to convince the Muslim investors that it was their "halal" form of investments which got messed up big time. Non-halal form of investments in legally valid savings schemes are all going fine. It is also for the RBI and GoI to clearly say that "halal investments, may not be legally valid investments". And trying to use tax payer money to give back the money to these "halal" investors would be a bigger crime (and an insult to the majority of honest people in KA).

Norway Waking up..Norway Deports Muslims; Crime Rate Drops 31%

Oslo, Norway: “The world’s largest gang of thugs, murderers, and rapists is masquerading as a religion of peace,” says Adrian Stavig, a resident of Oslo.

Beginning this past January, the new Norwegian Prime Minister, Erna Solberg began a program which targets and deports Muslims who have ties to radical groups.

Something stunning occurred: the country’s violent crimes are down more than 31% in less than a year since Muslim deportations began!

At US border, beacon of light for migrants in danger, but no food and water - Chidanand Rajghatta

WASHINGTON: In the hours before she died of dehydration in the Arizona desert after her mother went to look for water, six year old Gurpreet Kaur could not find a “rescue beacon” that US border patrol agents scatter in the wilderness to aid stranded migrants who find themselves in danger. The little girl from India also could not find food and water that Uncle Sam does NOT leave in the desert, and actually FORBIDS Good Samaritans from distributing to undocumented immigrants making the dangerous trek from Mexico to the United States.

Scott Warren would recognize the grim irony of providing migrants a life-saving beacon but denying them food and water for life. The 36 year old geography teacher has been on trial in a US court, charged with conspiracy to transport and harbour migrants, while his defence attorneys are arguing that he and “No More Deaths, ” the humanitarian organization he works with, was simply being kind by providing two migrants with water, food and lodging when he was arrested in early 2018.

Little Gurpreet will become just another statistical blip in the humanitarian crisis at the U.S-Mexico border involving illegal border crossing, but the Warren case has drawn worldwide attention for the Trump administration’s hard-line policy on illegal immigration and asylum seekers. Last week, a jury in Arizona was deadlocked over sentencing Warren.Prosecutors maintained that he should have gotten 20 years in prison.

“In the time since I was arrested in January 2018, no fewer than 88 bodies were recovered from the Arizona desert, ” Warren said in a statement after the deadlocked trial. “The government’s plan in the midst of this humanitarian crisis? Policies to target undocumented people, refugees and their families. Prosecutions to criminalize humanitarian aid, kindness and solidarity.”

While the case has highlighted the work of No More Deaths, which was founded in 2004 by Catholic and Jewish religious leaders and has been active on the border, Gurpreet's death has also drawn attention to the growing number of illegal immigrants from India, mostly from Punjab, who are attempting to enter the U.S not only from Mexico at the Southern border, but also via “panga” boats, an open, outboard powered, fishing vessel common in the Caribbean and Latin America.

In March this year, six Indian nationals were apprehended in upstate New York, pointing to smuggling rings that also operate on the northern border. Indians have also been apprehended in the Pacific off the coast of California.

But the southern border with Mexico remains the favorite entry point for illegal immigrants from South Asia, including Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, and Nepalese. Border patrol agents who intercept illegal migrants hidden in tractor trailers and panga boats often find South Asians among them, pointing to ties links between Indian human smugglers and Latino facilitators. GOI should also apply to the FAVORITE ENTRY POINT OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS FROM S A. INCLUDING THOSE FROM THE BORDERS BETWEEN INDIA AND NATIONALS AS WELL AS ROHINGIYAS ORIGIN OF P. & P O K., CHINESE OCCUPIED AKSAI CHIN, XINJIANG., B D, NEPAL & MYANMAR

Hundreds of Indians are languishing in US detention centers and many are reported to have resorted to hunger strikes to draw attention to their plight at a time the Trump administration has begun to have tighter norms for asylum applications.

1. That is from 4 years ago, just to note.
2. Norwegian crime statistics here. This 31% drop is not visible. https://www.ssb.no/en/lovbrudda/

Jeevay Jeevay Pakistan. This is what it has come to in Old Blighty, erstwhile Queen of the Seas...
https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/uk/most-pedophiles-in-uk-are-of-pakistani-descent-british-home-secretary/articleshow/67275144.cms
Most pedophiles in UK are of Pakistani descent: British home secretary

ISLAMABAD: Most pedophiles in the UK are of Pakistani descent and ignoring their ethnicity will only encourage extremists, the British home secretary Sajid Javid who himself is of Pak origin told BBC Radio 4 on Thursday. A high-proportion of men involved in gang-based child exploitation in the UK are of Pakistani descent, Javid, said on BBC Radio 4 Today programme. Ignoring the ethnicity of abusers gives “oxygen” to extremists, he added. Earlier this year, Javid had faced criticism for a tweet referring to "sick Asian paedophiles".
Asked by the British-Pakistani novelist Kamila Shamsie, who was guest-editing the Today programme, whether he was
concerned that his comments may have fuelled hate crimes, Javid said he was “very much aware of the need for politicians to be careful with their language”.“When it comes to gang-based child exploitation it is self-evident to anyone who cares to look that if you look at all the recent high-profile cases there is a high proportion of men that have Pakistani heritage,” he said.
Javid further said: “There could be – I’m not saying that there are - there could be some cultural reasons from the communities that these men came from that could lead to this kind of behaviour.” The home secretary has ordered research into the characteristics and contexts of gangs abusing children, arguing that ignoring issues such as ethnicity is more likely to fuel the far-right. “When I’m asking my officials to go away and do research to look into the causes of gang-based child exploitation, then I want them to leave no stone unturned and to look at everything,” he said. “If I had ignored it, or been seen to ignore it, that is exactly what I think extremists would like to see in this country. It would give
them oxygen and I refuse to do that,” Javid added.

Punish guilty, shed ‘shielding’ notion, Muslims urge Mamata Banerjee – TNN

KOLKATA: Prominent Muslims in Kolkata have urged Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee to act decisively against people of their community who were involved in crime as that would help overcome the “perception” that they are being “shielded or appeased”.

Muslims from various walks of life, who have been living in Kolkata for decades, highlighted two recent incidents: the NRS Medical College and Hospital violence last Monday and the hounding of model Ushoshi Sengupta and her app cab driver in the city this Monday. The accused, in both cases, were arrested within 24 hours of the incidents.

Image

“The attackers in both instances were members of our community. We are grieved and embarrassed. Bring the assailants to book not just in these two instances but in every single instance where Muslims are involved. They should not be allowed to get away because they happen to be Muslims (as is the growing perception). This will send out a message that members of one community are not being shielded or appeased (as most people believe),” the letter — signed by 46 prominent Muslim citizens of Kolkata — states. It would help if these Pious People also send a similar Petition to all the leaders of Administrative, Defence, Political and Religious Leaders both in Terroristan and Bangladesh urging them Act similarly!

They have also urged the state government to engage or encourage engagements with Muslim youth and their families across Kolkata in gender sensitisation, civic consciousness and law compliance.

“This requires long-term patience but needs to be implemented right away,” the letter says.

Psychologist Zahid H Ganjee, one of the signatories, said: “There have been several lynching cases in the past year-and-a-half and sane voices from the Hindu community have demanded justice.

Unfortunately, Muslims have not said and done enough when members of the community have acted like rogues. This has led to the entire community being tarnished. I hope the letter will spark a conversation, even a debate and then something good will come out of it. We are losing our primary identity as a citizen of this country and state. We need to reclaim it.

Abdul Rahim, who runs an NGO, stressed the need for the community to receive fair and not privileged treatment. “There is a growing perception that the administration here is soft on Muslims who break the law. This perception needs to change. We want the law to be enforced without considering religious identity,” he said. As the man said "Chance would be a Fine Thing

Communications expert Mudar Patherya, who drafted the letter after a discussion with several of the signatories, said there had been simmering discontent for some time. “I will not comment on whether the perception (that the administration is soft on Muslims) is right or wrong. But I feel, till now, governments have looked at the next vote and not the next generation. The moment they do that, things will change positively. I believe Muslims need to take a position,” he said.

Rahim says the administration needs to reach out to the community in the ghettos and strengthen, educate and empower the youth. “If you consider each of the incidents, the culprits hailed from ghettos,” he said.

Most of the signatories feel the recurring crime by Muslim youths is to do with poverty and illiteracy in ghettos where they reside. Mamoon Akhtar, who runs a school (Samaritan Help Mission) in Tikiapara, says children can bring about great change if educated. NOOOOOOO! It is the Legacy of the Khangress!

But the letter has also drawn flak from a section of the community. Nutritionist Neha Hafiz, another signatory, [b]took pains to point out that it was not a missive against the Trinamool government or its treatment of Muslims; but there was a need to change the perception that was being created about the community receiving more privileges than others. “There is a problem. We cannot deny it. And it needs to be addressed. Blaming anyone does not help. There is a need for education and reforms,” she said. I repeat "NOOOOOOO! It is the Legacy of the Khangress!"

The Methadone Theory of Political Islam
Call this the methadone theory of political Islam: If you administer a milder form of Sharia, you satisfy an appetite that might otherwise lead to a more sinister form of it. Non-Muslims who encourage indulgent attitudes toward, say, the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, or Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s AK Party in Turkey, or Sharia implementation in Aceh, Indonesia, tacitly endorse this theory.

22 countries sign a letter condemning Chinese oppression of Muslims, Islamic countries missing from the list https://www.opindia.com/2019/07/22-coun ... -the-list/
Not a single Islamic country is a signatory to this letter, which attempts to draw the world’s attention over the alleged atrocities committed by the Chinese.

In the letter, written by UN Human Rights Council member states, the signatories have exhorted China to stop maltreatment of Uighur Muslims in the detention centres. They have urged China to put an end to the inhumane restrictions placed on them, preventing them from following their religion.

The 22 signatories include Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK. However, none of the countries from the Islamic world deemed it important to be a signatory to the letter and extend their solidarity with their fellow co-religionists against oppressive China.

Islamisation through halal products
So far, we have seen that roughly a 5% presence of Muslims in the UK has the impact of 25%. Projecting that into the future, and by the time the Muslim population is around 20%, the impact on the food market would be 100%! According to Figure 3 this would mean that by 2046 the entire food market in the UK would be halal.
The economic implication of that is that non-Muslim food items would be unavailable: liquor, pork and its products, drugs, water, etc. In short, the entire food value chain in the UK would be Islamic by 2046!

One has to wonder how many more of dumb Hindus exist like this. Badly written article but from what I can tell, local maulvis provide muscle power in southern Gujarat for which Hindus pay to resolve issues that law enforcement fails to do. In this case, greater than 48lacs rupees was given by a lady being blackmailed and maulvi doesn’t deliver.

The wife of the Dalit man who was beaten up by some Muslim men in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh on June 21 has alleged that one of the accused Mazarool Hasan had touched her inappropriately and torn her kurta. She said that Hassan threatened her that he would make her Muslim. “Mazrool told me that he would make me a Musalmani (Muslim woman)”, she alleged.

Recently a video of Dalit man being beaten by a mob had gone viral on social media. Later on, it was found out that the video of a June 21 incident where a Dalit man named Shashank Padam Bhusan Sonkar was brutally beaten up by some Muslim men after he stopped them from molesting his wife.

According to a report by journalist Swati Goel Sharma of Swarajya, Sonkar ran a coaching centre in Mohalla Kharkha of Amethi’s Jais area. This is a Muslim majority area as told by Sonkar. His coaching centre provides free of cost one month course in computers under the Prime Minister’s Digital India programme.

Winston Churchill REVELATION: War hero's 'FASCINATION with Islam' revealed in lost letter

WINSTON Churchill was fascinated by the Islamic faith and some of his family believed he might have even converted to the religion after his time in India with the British Army, an uncovered letter reveals.

CALLUM HOARE - 07:26, Fri, Jan 25, 2019 | UPDATED: 07:28, Fri, Jan 25, 2019

Although Churchill has become the embodiment of the British bulldog spirit he was also a strong admirer of the Islamic faith – so much so and his relatives believed he was on the verge of becoming a Muslim at the turn of the 20th century. The revelation is buried in a letter to Mr Churchill from his future sister-in-law, Lady Gwendoline Bertie, written in August 1907. In the letter, found by Warren Dockter of Cambridge University, Lady Gwendoline wrote: “Please don’t become converted to Islam.

“I have noticed in your disposition a tendency to orientalise Pasha-like tendencies, I really have.

“If you come into contact with Islam your conversion might be effected with greater ease than you might have supposed, call of the blood, don’t you know what I mean, do fight against it.”

Mr Churchill had observed the Islamic religion during his time serving in North West India and Sudan with the British Army.

In a letter written to Lady Constance Georgina Bulwer-Lytton in 1907, Mr Churchill revealed he “wished he were” a Pasha, which was a rank of distinction in the Ottoman Empire at the time.

If you come into contact with Islam your conversion might be effected with greater ease - Lady Gwendoline Bertie

He also took to dressing in Arabic clothing while with friends, Dr Dockter – author, historian and research fellow at Cambridge University – claims.

He said: “Lady Gwendoline Bertie would have been worried because Churchill was leaving for an African tour and she would have known Churchill had been seeing his friend, Wilfrid S. Blunt – who was a renowned Arabist, anti-imperialist and poet.

“He and Churchill were friends and dressed in Arabian dresses at times for Blunt's eccentric parties, but they rarely agreed."

Although Mr Churchill was fascinated with the faith and culture, Dr Dockter claims he would have stopped short at converting to Islam.

He added: "Churchill never seriously considered converting.

”He was more or less an atheist by this time anyway.

“He did, however, have a fascination with Islamic culture which was common among Victorians."

While Mr Churchill was vocal in his admiration for Islam, he was not uncritical about the religion either.

He wrote in 1899: “The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.

“Individual Muslims may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it.

“No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytising faith.”

The letter was discovered by Dr Dockter while working on his book "Winston Churchill and the Islamic World: Orientalism, Empire and Diplomacy in the Middle East."

Boris Johnson claimed Islam put Muslim world 'centuries behind'

Anger as 2007 essay lamenting ‘no spread of democracy’ in Islamic world comes to light - Frances Perraudin

Boris Johnson has been strongly criticised for arguing Islam has caused the Muslim world to be “literally centuries behind” the west, in an essay unearthed by the Guardian.

Writing about the rise of the religion in an appendix added to a later edition of The Dream of Rome, his 2006 book about the Roman empire, Johnson said there was something about Islam that hindered development in parts of the globe and, as a result, “Muslim grievance” was a factor in virtually every conflict.

Johnson’s argument was described as disconcerting and problematic by Tell Mama, which monitors anti-Muslim hate and said he had demonstrated a lack of understanding of the religion. The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) said many people would like to know if the favourite to become the next prime minister still believed “Islam inherently inhibits the path to progress and freedom”.

Last year, Johnson was accused of dog-whistle politics after he used a Telegraph column to liken women wearing the burqa to “letter boxes” and “bank robbers”.

In an essay titled And Then Came the Muslims, added to the 2007 edition of his book, Johnson wrote: “There must be something about Islam that indeed helps to explain why there was no rise of the bourgeoisie, no liberal capitalism and therefore no spread of democracy in the Muslim world.

“It is extraordinary to think that under the Roman/Byzantine empire, the city of Constantinople kept the candle of learning alight for a thousand years, and that under Ottoman rule, the first printing press was not seen in Istanbul until the middle of the nineteenth century. Something caused them to be literally centuries behind.”

The Conservative leadership frontrunner wrote that the inhibitor of progress was “a fatal religious conservatism” and the further the Muslim world had “fallen behind, the more bitterness and confusion there has been, to the point where virtually every global flashpoint you can think of – from Bosnia to Palestine to Iraq to Kashmir – involves some sense of Muslim grievance”.

The MCB said: “We of course are of the view that Islam has a role to play in progress and prosperity, be that in the Muslim world or here at our home in the west.”

Mohammed Amin, a former chairman of the Conservative Muslim Forum, said Johnson’s analysis risked “actively promoting hatred of Muslims”. Amin was expelled by the forum in June after criticising the party leadership’s response to reports of Islamophobia and comparing Johnson’s popularity to that of Adolf Hitler in the 1930s.

In the book, published after the airing of a TV series with the same name, Johnson likened the Roman empire to the EU, marvelling at the former’s ability to create unity across continents.

The essay was written as negotiations for Turkey to join the EU were under way and Johnson argued Ankara should be allowed to become a member, creating “once again a Roman economic community” and “reuniting the two halves of the Roman empire around the shores of the Mediterranean”.

He said the country’s “far from perfect” record on human rights was “one of the most important reasons for keeping the Turks on the tram tracks to EU membership, surely, that we thereby help the progressive forces in Turkey and stop the country drifting backwards”.

The MCB said: “Many of us would be interested to find out whether Mr Johnson still believes that Islam inherently inhibits the path to progress and freedom, and whether he still thinks Turkey should be admitted to the European Union, especially after the extraordinary and false claims made about Turkish and Muslim immigration during the Brexit campaign.”

During the EU referendum campaign, Johnson argued a leave vote would allow the UK to “end uncontrolled immigration”. He was a figurehead for the Vote Leave campaign, which issued a controversial poster claiming Turkey was joining the EU, despite talks to this end having long since stalled.

In the essay, Johnson acknowledged Christianity had a history of “disgusting cruelty”, writing: “It wasn’t so long ago that we were burning books and heretics ourselves.”

He added: “These Muslims are not some alien species.” Johnson criticised newspaper editors who thought an “Islamo-panicky headline [was] good for sales” and “politicians hungry for votes” who made the same calculation.

He said his great-grandfather Ali Kemal, a Turkish politician, had been a Muslim, and so he hoped he would not be accused of Islamophobia for quoting Winston Churchill’s claim that there was “no stronger retrograde force” in the world than Islam.

“It is time to get deep down and dirty and examine the central charge made by everyone from Winston Churchill to the Pope, namely that the real problem with the Islamic world is Islam,” Johnson wrote. “We must be honest and accept that there is more than a grain of truth in Churchill’s analysis of the economic and social consequences of the religion.”

After describing the beauty of the Sistine Chapel, Johnson wrote: “There is nothing like it in Muslim art of that or any age, not just because it is beyond the technical accomplishment of Islamic art, but because it is so theologically offensive to Islam.”

Tell Mama said the essay portrayed Muslims as “a wave or horde … who had little time for the intricacies and legacies of civilisations like that of Rome”.

Johnson’s words gave the impression Muslims were somehow “mentally constrained by Islam”, they said. “That shows a lack of understanding of Islam, and there are many Muslims whom Islam has inspired to produce some of the most beautiful art forms in their love for life and beauty. We hope Johnson works to support all communities in the future, and we are here to assist and support that.”

Johnson’s campaign did not respond to a request for comment.

Western governments are telling Muslim women not to cover up – ERASMUS

State secularism and personal freedom clash over the hijab and the burkini

Image

IN THE diverse democracies of the early 21st century, there are certain political and cultural issues that never go away. A political or judicial decision may settle things for a while, but so strong are the conflicting emotions that the flames can quickly flare up. One such issue is the attire of Muslim women, and how and if it should be limited by the state.

Take France, which regulates religious apparel, and religion generally, in a stricter way than any other democracy. The summer of 2016 was a torrid one for that country’s beaches, as many local authorities decreed bans on the burkini, a full-body swimsuit favoured by some Muslim women. After weeks of nasty seaside scenes, the country’s highest administrative court ruled that the bans were an unacceptable curb on liberty.

In recent weeks, though, arguments over the burkini have switched to municipal swimming pools, in particular those in the city of Grenoble. After the mayor outlawed the garment, a group of burkini-clad protesters began defying the ban and snapping themselves as they splashed about; a couple of pools were temporarily closed. In the national French press, the affair is discussed as though it were a sinister Islamist conspiracy to subvert the secular French republic.

In Germany the federal constitutional court ruled in 2015 that any “blanket ban” on state school-teachers wearing the hijab (a head-covering which leaves the face exposed) was an affront to religious liberty. If limited bans were imposed in specific circumstances, there would have to be well-argued justification. But this merely opened the way for legal wrangling within Germany’s federal states, each of which brings its own style to matters of culture and education.

Earlier this year a court in Bavaria upheld the region’s ban on the wearing of headscarves by judges and state prosecutors. In Berlin, whose dominant political ethos is secular, a local court has vindicated a ban on elementary school-teachers wearing the hijab: it accepted the argument that children at that tender age need neutral pedagogues.

In Britain, meanwhile, many Muslims are expressing horror at the prospect of Boris Johnson becoming Tory Party leader and prime minister: not because of any regulation he plans to introduce but because of the tone he has set in comments about Muslim female dress. In an article he wrote last August he said it was “ridiculous” that women should wear face-covering burkas that left them “looking like letter boxes”. In recent days he has expressed vaguely worded regret over things he had written over the past 20 or 30 years which might, taken out of context, cause offence.

Significantly, though, Mr Johnson did not advocate a general ban on face-covering attire. He said universities and firms should be able to regulate what people wear on campus or at work, but he opposed any restriction on how people dressed in the street. Such a curb would offend the Anglo-Saxon tradition of individual liberty, including the right to be eccentric.

Even in Donald Trump’s America, belief in religious freedom is sufficiently robust to protect hijab-wearers. Earlier this year, rules were adjusted to allow a newly elected legislator, Ilhan Omar, to take her seat in Congress with a Muslim head-covering. In 2015 the American Supreme Court vindicated a hijab-wearing woman who said she failed to get a job with a clothing store because her head was covered. That set a more Muslim-friendly tone than did the European Court of Justice, which said in 2017 that work-place bans on religious garb can sometimes be legal. (It was adjudicating the case of a Belgian firm which wanted a receptionist to uncover her head.)

American hijab-wearers say the arrival of Mr Trump has had mixed effects on their daily lives. Some citizens who were already xenophobic grew a bit more anti-Muslim in their behaviour; but voters who oppose the president would make a point of greeting women in Muslim garb and saying they were very welcome in America.

However, that semi-positive picture does not hold good everywhere in North America. In recent days, the young Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai, a heroine of the struggle for women’s rights in her native Pakistan, has been at the centre of a bizarre row.

She was photographed in France with Jean-François Roberge, Quebec’s education minister. The minister was then challenged by a journalist to say whether Ms Yousafzai, who survived an assassination attempt at 15, could ever teach in the francophone province where, after many years of wrangling, a law was passed on June 16th barring public servants from sporting conspicuous religious symbols at work. Mr Roberge declared that it would be a great honour to have Ms Yousafzai teach in Quebec, but she would need to doff her headscarf first. His boss, François Legault, backed him up.

For some critics of the new Quebec law, the story about Ms Yousafzai was a kind of propaganda gift. The tale was widely reported in the Middle East, Turkey and other mainly-Muslim places, with the clear implication that the West should consider its own flaws before lecturing the world of Islam.

Mustafa Akyol, a prolific Turkish writer on Islam who is now a fellow at the Cato Institute in Washington, DC, says the saga will make his life a bit harder. “I spend my time trying to convince fellow Muslims that liberal democracy gives them all the freedom they need to practise their faith, so there is no reason to pursue Islamic rule,” he says. “Whenever a Western country imposes its cultural norms on Muslims, winning those arguments becomes more difficult.”

Where to draw the line? Jonathan Laurence, a Boston College professor who is an authority on European Islam, feels a distinction should always be made between regulating the state’s own representatives and telling ordinary citizens how to dress. For a government to prescribe the garb of those who act on its behalf may or may not be sensible, but it is certainly within the purview of a liberal state. Banning swimsuits which do no obvious harm seems more clearly illiberal. It’s a bit worrying that 42% of French people favour such a ban in pools.

One of the reasons why the problem is so awkward for Canada is that the country looks to two different old-world models, French and Anglo-Saxon. Quebec used to be more devoutly Catholic than France, but these days it is racing to imitate and even outdo the Gallic motherland in its embrace of secularism, and probably going too far. On the other hand, if hijab-wearing teachers in Quebec want to migrate to the neighbouring, English-speaking province of Ontario, they will be made very welcome.

Whatever the conflicting positions taken by judges, politicians and religious leaders, there is always the hope that people growing up in diverse societies will simply get used to the fact that, in these sensitive matters, different choices can be legitimate.

Ultimate Dhimmitude from the Telegraph:

Two of England's Cricket champions were forced to walk away from the champagne celebrations because they are Muslim and therefore choose not to drink. But in a multicultural Britain should this be happening? And are champagne celebrations outdated in multicultural Britain?

I wouldn't take that too seriously, the Telegraph has in my view, published that Tweet to get the anti-islam right wing elements to voice their opinions, no way they believe it. Some of the comments on their articles are not just right wing, they are out right nazi.
It's worked as well, judging by the replies.

Rotherham paedophiles received half a million pounds in legal aid from public money while their victims remain uncompensated
https://www.opindia.com/2019/07/rotherh ... mpensated/
In a shocking development, it has come to the fore that paedophiles involved in the Rotherham Muslim grooming gang scandal have received legal aid up to £500,000 after raping children as young as 11 years old. Sickeningly, as many as 70 survivors did not receive any compensation at all and dozens of others received as little as £2000.

Information received via a Freedom of Information request has revealed they were awarded £370,000 in legal aid for their costs in the 2016 crown court trial. Apart from this, they also received monetary aids for hearings in other magistrate courts and family courts, which is estimated to be over £100,000. It is being alleged that they exploited the country’s laws and defrauded the hard-earned money of the British taxpayers.

Sammy Woodhouse, 34, one of their 50 victims, told Express UK, “This is completely outrageous and immoral. They have probably received 25 per cent more money than what the survivors of their abuse have had in total as compensation.” She added, “Something needs to be put in place to stop these people just laughing at the system and milking the taxpayer dry.”

Beijing: China Orders Halal Restaurants In National Capital To Stop Displaying Arabic Signs And Islamic Symbols
https://swarajyamag.com/insta/beijing-c ... ic-symbols
In a fresh crackdown on open displays of the Islamic faith, Chinese authorities have started directing restaurants and food joints in Beijing to remove signs in arabic reading ‘halal’, and symbols such as the crescent moon, reports Reuters.

“They said this is foreign culture and you should use more Chinese culture,” said a restaurant manager.

The Chinese capital is estimated to have at least 1,000 food outlet selling halal food, a number of shops have now already removed Islamic signs, or are in the process or removing them. Some shops have handled the directive by putting a Chinese sign ‘qing zhen’ meaning halal, instead of the Arabic sign.
