The Rohingya Menace
Posted: 06 Sep 2017 22:17
The existing infestation of 40,000 Rohingya Muslims in India-- including Jammu & Kashmir-- presents a grave national security threat in its own right. I'm starting this thread because I believe it will soon reach proportions-- if it hasn't already-- that could nucleate an organized, consolidated pan-India jihad potentially supported by crores of indigenous radicalized Muslims.
Currently there is a multi-pronged effort by many forces in the international community to flood India with lakhs more Rohingyas. This needs to be looked at in more detail, because it has the potential to create the sort of problem for India that ISIS-infiltrated swarms of Syrian and North African refugees currently present in Europe.
The overarching context for all this is that there appears to be an internationally-driven project to undermine India with increasingly active Islamist insurgencies originating from the east, now that the Islamist threat from the western flank (Pakistan-based) has been deemed collaterally dangerous for Western interests as well.
The Hillary Clinton State Dept., during the UPA2 regime, insisted that Manmohan Singh support Khaleda Zia in a CIA-sponsored "colour revolution" against the Awami govt in Bangladesh. In a rare display of strategic independence, the UPA2 government refused to comply. Ever since then, problems for India on this front have begun to materialize through the vector of Rohingya influx. The 2012 rioting in Mumbai was a harbinger of this new assault, followed by reports of Rohingyas illegally infiltrating and settling in nearly every corner of India, including sensitive areas like the Northeast, Jammu, and AP/Telengana.
Today there is a concerted diplomatic campaign of "human-rights" blackmail directed against New Delhi's initiatives to repatriate the Rohingyas currently living in India. This type of blackmail is typically a precursor to the Western world shrugging its shoulders and saying "I told you so" once the bombings and fidayeen attacks start to claim Indian lives. At the same time, Rohingya terrorists are mounting a highly militarized insurrection against the Myanmar government, while the Western media has launched a propaganda offensive to portray Rohingyas as the wronged victims of Buddhist Myanmarese bigots. It has also been revealed that large numbers of ISI-trained Pakistani terrorists are involved in the Rohingya assaults on Myanmarese security forces.
Thousands of Rohingyas are flooding into Bangladesh under cover of this combined Western diplomatic and propaganda offensive; given what we know about the Mamta Bannerji government in West Bengal, how long will it take before they have crossed the highly porous border into Indian territory? Those who stay on in Bangladesh will undoubtedly join up with the JeI and BNP in an armed insurrection against Sheikh Hasina's government as well.
In a sense we are seeing a repeat of Robin Raphael's Hurriyat/JKLF gambit from the 1990s, executed in coordination with Pakistan's ISI, but this time sourcing its foot soldiers from a jihadi wellspring on our eastern border, and not localized to a single part of India.
In the United States, the intelligence agencies are in open revolt against the Trump government, leaking left and right in an effort to embarrass the White House; career officials at the State Department no doubt have their own long-standing agendas as well, regardless of any policies SOS Rex Tillerson may be seeking to pursue.
Is it far-fetched to imagine that Wilsonian CIA and SD officials, with their allies in the international media and with support from neoliberal non-US Western regimes (such as Canada and the EU), are pursuing a project to destabilize India that Hillary Clinton has had on the back-burner ever since Narendra Modi became PM and threatened to upend the existing milieu of Breaking-India nexuses? After all, even if the US can no longer wink-and-nod at LeT and JeM atrocities against India without looking like utter hypocrites, the ISI is too great an asset for them to lose influence with entirely, and it must be appeased; meanwhile, a rapidly growing and assertive India must be contained with new levers of sabotage. Even the Trump regime itself may be involved... let's remember that a "back channel" of US operatives, including Robin Raphael, has been set up to deal with Pakistan in the wake of Donald Trump's recent invectives against the duplicity of that country.
Regardless of what geopolitical machinations may be stoking the flames, the Rohingya menace is a clear and present danger to the Indian republic at many levels and across many fronts. Let's use this thread to discuss the many dimensions of this threat... internal as well as external, blatant as well as obscure... and evolve recommendations on how it can be eliminated.
