Thanks! Will be interesting to read.

FWIW : From what I know :The measurement of a Yojana distance in the context of the Ramayana varies depending on the source and interpretation. In ancient Indian texts, a Yojana is typically considered to be about 14.5 kilometers, but there are variations in different texts and traditions. In the context of the Ramayana, a Yojana is often considered to be around approximately 13 to 16 kilometers . However, these measurements are not universally agreed upon and may vary based on different interpretations and textual sources. (I am more familiar with Ramcharitramanas - Tulsji - where again the distance is about 14.5 Km ( plus or minus 1 km)>

I studied some Jain astronomy -but saw nothing rigorous there ..in the Surya Siddhanta, (an ancient Sanskrit text on astronomy) a Yojana is defined as the distance that can be covered by a person in a yama, which is a specific unit of time.

The exact measurement of a Yojana in the Surya Siddhanta can vary, but it is generally considered to be approximately 10-16 kilometers ... This definition is similar to the traditional Indian measurement of a Yojana as a distance that can be covered by a person in a day's travel, which is typically estimated to be around the 16 Kms or less.

According to the author Jijith Nadumuri Ravi, there are two different types of Yojana. One used to measure L,B,H of buildings, cities, mountains which is 120m and the other one used to measure distance between places which is 48km. Today in modern times we have kilometers, miles (mostly in US) as distance measures. But how did these measures come about? They sound arbitrary since there is nothing that justifies their distance, even though there is some certification by some western institutes.

In ancient India we used various units of measures, some of them were Yojana, Ashvina, and Ahanya. 1 Yojana is approx 9.09 miles (around 14.4 km). There is another interesting measure called the Deva-Rathanhya which is roughly 9.6 miles (15.36 km). How do we get Deva-Rathanhya? It is based on the curvature of the earth to any observer based on the visible edge of Sun’s rays in the 180 degree horizon, that is points on earth where morning sun-rises and evening sun-sets. The distance between them (sun rise and sun set) to an observer at a given point is around 9.6 miles. This is an independent reference of distance. It does not depend on the height of the observer. This knowledge is attributable to Indian Author Mrugendra Vinod, whose background is in Computer Science and later studied the Vedas.

Thanks. As shown in the clip -- this is meaningless (if not laughable :)..)
Apart from scientists, even in ramayana time , knew enough logic - and need not have different measures for these..
Ayodya's measurements as in Valmiki's Ramayana as 12 yojana x 3 Yojana which will translate to

Either: about 576 Km x 144 km (For perspective this is more than arial distance between Ayodya and New Delhi !!)
Or about 1.4 Km x .36 Km

Suprabhatam

As per legend the gentle strains of this Suprabhatam Stotra rouses up Lord Vishnu from His slumber every morning. An early morning recitation of the Venkatesha Suprabhatam creates keenness in purpose for the rest of the day. It infuses the devotee with all the commanding optimism that resides in the meaningful verses of this prayer. Besides, even the environment acquires a soothing quality and is filled with a calmness that encourages goodness and sanguinity. The positive vibrations of the Shri Venkatesha Stotra succeed in imbibing the individual with competence, enthusiasm to tackle any situation, and eagerness to work. This is the reason why Shri Venkatesha Stotra is an excellent way to start the day and organize the mind and body. Chanting this Stotra or listening closely to it imparts all these benefits.

The genre of Suprabhātakāvya traces its origin to a single verse (1.23.2) in the Balakanda of Valmiki's Ramayana, where, Maharishi Vishwamitra calls out to Rama to wake up.

kausalyasuprajarama! purva sandhya pravartate,
uttistha! narasardula! kartavyam daivam ahnikam.
O! Rama! Kausalya’s auspicious child! Twilight is approaching in the East. O! best of men (Purushottama)! Wake up, the divine daily rituals have to be performed.

uttisthottistha! govinda! uttistha garudadhvaja!
uttistha kamalakanta! trailokyam mangalam kuru.
O! Govinda, wake up! O! Garudadhvaja (one who has Garuda on his flag)! wake up. O! Kamalakanta (the husband of Kamala)! by rising, render the three worlds auspicious.

matas samsastajagatam madhukaitabhareh vaksoviharini! manohara-divyamurte!

May it be an auspicious dawn to Thee, O! Lakshmi, the Mother of the Worlds, who dwells on the chest of Vishnu, the enemy of the demons, Madhu and Kaitabha, of attractive and divine form, with the nature of granting what is desired by those seeking refuge!

tava suprabhatam aravindalochane! bhavatu prasannamukha-chandramandale!
vidhisankarendra-vanitabhir archite! vrsasailanatha-dayite!dayanidhe
May it be an auspicious dawn to Thee, O! Lakshmi, the beloved of the Lord of Vrsacala, with eyes like lotus petals, with a bright face like the Moon, who is worshipped by Vani, Girija and Pulomaja (the wives of Brahma, Sankara and Indra) and who is very compassionate

vayu ji, all the above is from my book a chapter on Vishnu - the mediator, maintainer, preserver in Sanatan Dharma. If the restraining balance or equilibrium is lost by Vishnu, the universe will spiral out of control and end. In Tirupathi, Vishwamitra shlokas are sung everyday and now for Ram Mandir (Ram is avatar of Vishnu), we sing the same shlokas.

How Ayodhya Ram Mandir United India | The New Independence | Dr. Ankit Shah

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bs2AqJ4zHrM

Dr. Ankit Shah asserts that Bharat has obtained cultural independence after opening Ram Mandir. Lord Ram rajya in Bharat has started. The mandir economy system is self sustaining and lasts for a very long time. Ankit cautions Bharat from becoming super power (bomber above your head with diplomatic talk). He prefers Vishwa Mitra and eventually becoming Vishwa Guru (wherein countries come to Bharat to learn about policies for civilization). He advocates replacing secular with dharmic (so it covers everyone) in the constitution. We are not into proselytizing, we accept all viewpoints, we are seekers for the truth.

Robert Spencer claims that what India did by constructing the Ram Mandir on the site of Ram's birth place which was struck by the invaders and a mosque was built on top (thereby establishing the supremacy of Islam over Hinduism) is unprecedented in the world. No where else have anyone done such a thing. As an example, Israel the only Jewish state in the world, forbade anyone claiming temple mount where Al Aqsa mosque was built. The Hajia Sophia in Istanbul was built atop a christian cathedral (and some claim was built atop a pagan temple of yore). The Christians are not claiming Hajia Sophia back. Islamic invaders always broke other religion's sacred sites and establish mosques over the very spot that others considered sacred/holy.

What India did properly with the courts is causing angst in the Islamic world since no one dares to do such a thing (and be tarred as anti-islamic or islamaphobia). Ram Mandir is the first incidence in human History where an Ancient Civilization Reclaimed & Rebuilt the temple in defiance of Islam. This is unprecedented and they don't know what to do with this new turn in the world. Bharat civilization is in the process of reclamation of its space, its land, its culture, its ancient architecture, its festivals, it languages, its relationships, its clothing, its traditions and revert/assert its dharmic way.

I don't see how the situations are comparable. Christians are barely 2% of the population in Turkey so they were never going to get back the Hagia Sophia short of a new crusade being declared to take back Constantinople. In the case of the Temple Mount/Al Aqsa, it is located on disputed territory (East Jerusalem was part of Jordan till 1967) and making any drastic changes there would have a huge impact on the entire Israel-Palestine conflict and could trigger a big conflagration.

None of these issues exist for Ram Janmabhoomi. In hindsight we should have taken back all three main sites - Ram Janmabhoomi, Krishna Janmabhoomi and Gyanvapi - right after independence. But hindsight is always 20/20 and successive governments have been more interested in showing off their secular credentials. No european christian country in the 20th century would have allowed such a situation to persist if any of their historic cathedrals had been treated this way, all their claims to be secular notwithstanding. And they definitely would not have shot themselves in the foot with something as absurd as the Places of Worship act.

Robert Spencer's point is referring to modern era. The ancient conquest after conquest is not included. Those in Greece and Spain fall into that category.

The left cabal and the islam faction have come together though they have different agendas. The left likes total control of the populace that are governed. The islam faction has cleverly used the argument that anything against them is islamaphobia.

Ideally India at independence could have asserted its ancient heritage and taken back all holy sites in one go. This could have been settled as part of independence. In many areas mosques are purposely built right next to temples, e.g. the Sri Krishna temple in Udipi has a mosque right next door.

Why stop at reclaiming just 3 sites? We have the concepts of janma sthala, kshetra, theertha which tie specific deities to specific places in Bharat.

Thousands of such places have been deliberately defiled, plundered, defaced and new structures built on top just to remind us every day which forces are wielding power.

Why should we not reclaim EVERYONE of these places? That others in other lands have not done it is irrelevant for us.

And that's just for starters...

Vindhyavasini Devi Temple Project, a dream project of Yogi Adityanath, upstream on the Ganga from Varanasi and near Mirzapur has finally achieved completion. Project was going on for 4 years and the transformation from an area which was dirty with narrow lanes and a Ganga waterfront which was just mud is quite remarkable:

This is amazing indeed. I stopped at vindhyachal dham once on the way to Kashi about a decade ago - the whole area was unfortunately very dirty, and extremely chaotic on top of that. Did darshan and left - didn't have courage to go to the river bank.

The project has not "achieved completion" yet - as seen in the video - still very much a work in progress, but getting close. In the video it also says Gadkari will be building a six-lane bridge across the Ganga there.

I have serious doubts if the next generation of this family will carry any of this veneration or love for Bharat through. I was deeply disappointed and actually alarmed to find that Isha's Ambani's kids have all western nannies. Remember the last time Indian elite had western nannies - All the Maharaja's that were controlled by the British. Expect a completely deracinated next generation, holding so much wealth in their hands that it is now dangerous for India. Their love for Bollywood is also extremely problematic. But the nannies who influence the child from babyhood being all goras, brings back memories of the British Raj. What is the need? This also speaks of the daughters own attitude who feels her children need this close influence. Her father and grandfather did not need it. The government of India needs to watch all these intrusive elements with these new generations especially given what they own.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VV2kHfdekw

This is coming from the Piramal side of the family where the sister in law is a woke and married to a gora. Worse he is now the CEO. These guys build wealth on the backs of poor Indians and through their woke actions leak it out.

Kudos to Nita Ambani, she ensured some stability to the next generation.

Let's remember it's not the rich and the famous alone who fought for Ram over 5 centuries.

That said your point is 100% valid.

Just needed to mention this someplace. The British took over India one by one and not through an initial great war. Study the wealthy families of India and see how much deracination the next generations have. The British nanny was a legendary agent for influence. The government better watch the concentration of wealth in such families. It's not good for India if the Kids are going down the woke path.

Also confirmed with an acquantance who was in Ayodhya for one week for Katha. She could have darshan every day around 9 PM with only a few minutes of waiting. Apparently, evenings are easy.

" For the kind attention of all devotees visiting the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir:

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir is witnessing an average of 1 to 1.5 lakh pilgrims daily.

Devotees can enter the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir for Darshan from 6:30 AM to 9:30 PM.

The entire process from entry to exit after Darshan at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir is extremely simple and convenient. Typically, devotees can have a smooth Darshan of Prabhu Shri Ram Lalla Sarkar within 60 to 75 minutes.

Devotees are advised to leave their mobile phones, footwear, purses, etc., outside the Mandir premises for their convenience and to save time.

Please do not bring flowers, garlands, prasad, etc., to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir.

Entry for Mangala Aarti at 4 AM, Shringar Aarti at 6:15 AM, and Shayan Aarti at 10 PM is possible only with an entry pass. No entry passes required for other Aartis.

Information such as the devotee's name, age, Aadhar card, mobile number, and city is required for the entry pass.

This entry pass can also be obtained from the website of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. The entry pass is free of charge.

There is no arrangement for special darshan by paying a certain fee or through any special pass at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir. If you ever hear about paying for Darshan, it might be a scam attempt. The Mandir management has no connection to this.

Wheelchairs are available in the Mandir for the elderly and differently-abled. These wheelchairs are intended solely for use within the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir premises, not for Ayodhya city or any other Mandir. There is no rental fee for the wheelchair, but a nominal fee is to be given to the young volunteer assisting with the wheelchair. "

Indian Institute of Astrophysics IIA Bengaluru, an autonomous body under India DST (Dept of Science and Technology), has played a crucial role in the Surya Tilak Project at Ayodhya. Sunlight was directed onto the forehead of Sri Ram Lalla at 12 noon on April 17, 2024, on the occasion of Sri Ram Navami in the Chaitra month, and this ritual will be repeated every year.

The team led by IIA Bengaluru carried out calculations of the Sun's position, designed and optimized the optical system, and performed the integration and alignment at the site.

As the temple is not fully completed now, the IIA experts modified the design to suit the existing structure and performed image optimization. This design, with four mirrors and two lenses, was executed for the Surya Tilak.

The final design of the Surya Tilak, with four mirrors and four lenses, will be implemented once the full temple is constructed by placing the mirrors and lenses in their permanent fixtures.

The English calendar date of Sri Ram Navami festival changes every year as it follows Lunar Calendar. Therefore, the position of the sun on the sky changes every year on the day of Sri Ram Navami. Detailed calculations show that the English calendar date of Sri Ram Navami repeats… team led the estimation of the size, shape and location of mirrors and lenses in the system for sufficient light to fall on the idol for about 6 minutes. Opto-mechanical design of the lens and mirror holder assembly, and manual mechanism were carried out to…This helped the entire system to work flawlessly for the Surya Tilak to be carried out successfully. The device has been manufactured by Optica, Bangalore, and the implementation of the opto-mechanical system at the site is being done by CSIR_CBRI

Congratulations to IIA and everyone in the team for the accurate calculations and well-optimized design for the successful Surya Tilak Project at Ayodhya!

FWIW: These Twitter handles @IIABengaluru and @IndiaDST may have some more details - also some mainstream Indian news.

From what I know, the final design is still under review ..(some things will change - As the temple is not fully completed now, the IIA experts modified the design to suit the existing structure and performed image optimization).. The point is our calendar is both Lunar and Solar and Lunar. Sankranti (for eg Makar) falls every year on 14/15 (January for makar sankranti) while Ram Navami can be off even by a month, as far as declination and RA of Sun is considered.

Many ancient temples in India have similar arrangements depending on Sun's position, here the important point is to make adjustments for Ram Navami which does not have a fixed day per solar position.

We know about Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh, Bharat, but there is another city Ayutthay in Thailand. Praveen Mohan visits the place with a temple (now deemed a buddhist temple) Wat Rachburana temple in Ayutthay,Thailand. There are underground vaults which held gold (looters took away 100 kg or more of gold ornaments). Many roads in Thailand are named after Lord Rama and even the Thailand Monarchs are named after Lord Rama. The prevalence of Vedic culture throughout Asian nations is a testimony to the reach of Bharat's ancient civilization and cultural values.

Long ago, I read something interesting from a Thai source (sorry, don't remember the details to give a reference). The claim was that the Ramayana actually happened in Thailand, and (I believe - don't remember entirely) Ayutthay was the actual Ayodhya. Lanka was interpreted to be an island off mainland Thailand.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and all that. There is a huge cultural affinity which holds a lot of opportunity for closer integration with India.

It is best if the india accepted that Ramayana in Thailand is indeed indigenous and reflects the Thai genius.

It would definitely be counterproductive. And as absurd as Jewish claims that a Jew (the Jew) civilised Europe.

Not to get "theological" or any such thing, but in Tulasi Ramayana (Ramcharitmanas), the sage Kak Bhusundu narrates how he traversed many worlds and in each of them there was an Ayodhya and a Rama; so, presumably, they all have their own Ramayanas, too.

By tulsidas’time the Ramayana was established in Thailand Indonesia etc.

But it would be interesting if the characters were to be playing out their iconic parts in alternate universes. Perhaps with variations
