BR Forum Feedback
Re: BR Forum Feedback
This is one suggestion from me. We should track the Indigenous Aircraft Carrier - I (INS Vikrant) more closely in a separate thread. It is perhaps the most complex defense construction program going on and bunching it together with the Navy thread doesn't allow for good discussion. Recently first pics of IAC-I have emerged and there is good amount of open source info available on the project, which will lead to a healthy discussion. Can we start a thread on the lines of other key indigenous program threads like LCA Tejas & INS Arihant ?
We can call the thread "INS Vikrant News and Discussion".

I support this proposal. The construction of the INS Vikrant is a seminal project, just like the Arihant, LCA Tejas and Arjun MBT are in their respective fiels.

Re: BR Forum Feedback
Hi admins,I was trying to find a thread which specifically deals with Internet as a whole and specifically Internet Censorship but couldn't find one.Should not one be started for it as a lot of things are happening there.Talks about censorship in India, bills related to it in US being discussed by the Senate and the House,Role in Arab Spring are a few examples.

The board software won't allow us to change your email to a yahoo/gmail etc. Those are blocked domains. Don't you have a company email or a bsnl/vsnl type ISP address?
Re: BR Forum Feedback
In reference to the earlier posts about Tapatalk, I would like to disagree with their suggestion. While tapatalk is free for board owners to install it payware for users. Second, tapatalk's interface is much too constricted for the long and detailed <quote> </quote> kind of responses in the forums. Tapatalk is good if one was discussing movies, cricket or something equally inane but technical discussions with lengthy posts would be hard.
Instead IMHO a mobile version for the forum, just like ones Times of India or CNN have for their websites. (sorry for the lack of correct technical jargon but I'm not conversant in the lingo). This mobile version would be immensely useful in making bharatrakshak more accessible as most users outside India and many in Indiany use smartphones, by making it would make the site more versatile. Right now, the home page's font is miniscule and navigation is cumbersome on a mobile browser or even a tablet browser. Plus, there is a lot of fluff and formatting that wouldn't be required in a mobile version of the site. This task of developing a mobile version isn't necessarily difficult or expensive (according to those in the know), so any move in that direction would be welcome from me.

Re: BR Forum Feedback
I think I owe an apology to all Forum moderators and administrators.
First of all, I thank them for banning me from the forum for a month. It is a blessing in disguise as I was able to focus on some important personal issues
I also used this sabbatical to write a few essays that I wanted to put on my blog. A couple of 'happening items' are already posted. I will blog more regularly from now on-wards.
While writing those articles it occurred to me that I could say whatever I wanted to say (about MMS, Pakis or whoever) in my blog without the fear of getting warned/banned (like on BRF). Yet, I couldn't do that because I felt my blog is like my intellectual home and wanted it to be 'read' and 'appreciated' by the very few people who are kind enough to visit my blog and want to know my thoughts.
Then I realized that BRF too is my extended 'intellectual home', that gets visited by much more guests, friends and gurus. And it is my "duty" to make my beloved home more cleaner and welcoming to the intellectual discussions that we really want to have. I know I didn't do good enough job until now. But now that I realized what it is all about, I will try to be more cautious in what I write on BRF.
That doesn't mean I will not be criticizing others' opinions and view points, but I will try to be more logical and respectful about it.
Thanks and regards,

Mods, please note that Selamat Pagi, a poster in the China Military Watch thread, does not have a human sounding name. Selamat Pagi is Bahasa Indonesia for "Good morning" and I can't imagine anyone having that for a name.

Shouldn't there be a separate thread for Tibet ? Discussing Tibetan matters in PRC thread is like giving legitimacy to the occupation. PoK thread is separate from TSP one.

Re: BR Forum Feedback
@Sriman: No, nothing in particular. But the armed forces image, honour, status have taken such a beating in the last ten years, that the country's (and militarys) focus has turned away from strategy, defence, and indias geopolitical posture, to simply trying to survive the humiliation heaped upon it. I fear we are in for a very bad time ahead. It hurts me to see our armed forces hurt. And I hate to have to fight off people who praise those who are out to harm our military on this forum and others. I'm done with it. It hurts too much to see my country going to hades.
I loved BR cuz I loved to dream about what we, as a nation had in store for us in our future. But the future looks very bleak to me. A nation which mistreats its soldiers is a nation that will soon suffer.

I don't see how you plan to correct the wrongs by quitting BRF. If anything, you should be wanting to make more ASPuaresque people join the party and help others see reason. On the top right corner, click on User Control Panel. On that page, click on Profile (in the Options menu on the left). Then under it click on Edit Account Settings.Vivasvat wrote:BRadmins,

Once you change your email, you need to verify the account. Your account will remain inactive until you do so. If you don't have access to that email account or it is not a valid account, your account stays deactivated.
Re: BR Forum Feedback
It is my casual observation that there has been and still is a lot of friendly fire lately in BR, with a confluence of divisive issues like:
It seems like this noise is wearing out forum members. For sure, I'd want members like ASPuar to stay. Phillip seems to attract friendly fire like a lantern attracts moths But the lantern does provide illumination, and so does Phillip (sometimes....... Ok, often)
Shiv brings his club, bat and boot to every game, some times all at once.
Ramana throws everything up in the air to watch in guilty pleasure where things fall.
RahulM seems to be working diligently, as always, but is probably wondering if all his efforts are worth it.
I for one am glad to see the luminaries of this forum, not just the ones I've listed from the threads I frequent, continue their good work and/or antics.
It is my hope that 2012 will give us many reasons to celebrate - like successful GSLV launches, LSP-7 and N-LCA flights, CABS AEW&C news, Brahmos fired from Su-30MKI, news of Arihant on the prowl, and much more.
- Health of the LCA and N-LCA projects [IAF, IN, ADA and HAL]
- Disregard of the F-35 for MMRCA [IAF, GoI, MoD, MoF, Rest of the World]
- Date of the birth of CoAS [IA, GoI, MoD, SC]
- Antrix-Devas deal [ISRO, GoI]
- T-90 story [IA, DRDO, CVRDE, OFB] (I got into this one too!)
- Koodankulam

Request withdrawn. I will point out to Dmurphy etc, that the question is not my trying to help things, or change things. POint was just that Im tired of arguing with people about things that they really should know in the first place.
