Where is Sonia Gandhi's name in the list? I just see this now.
Editor's Note: Sonia Gandhi and the former emir of Qatar Hamid bin Khalifa al-Thani have been removed from this list. Looks like a hit job. I don't think she is that rich. My personal opinion, I don't think Rajiv took the money for himself. Of course, I want her party to lose. I was an ardent Congress supporter during the Rajiv years and even PVN, but MMS, RaGa etc are not leader material. And no one can match NaMo.

Who is the head of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation?

Where is the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation located? What is its operating budget? What work does it do? Does it have further investments into other companies?

Why is Sonia G housed at 10 Janpath? Why not in Rae Bareilly, does not she represent that? If she is life-time president of CongI then it is CongIs job to find her and fund her home. Why is GOI doing that?

Where and how is Rahul G or Vadra family housed?

Who runs the Jawaharlal Nehru Foundation? The Indira Gandhi Foundation?

If RGF/JNF/IGF are government supported, why is SG the lifetime chairman of those foundations? After SG who? RG? If it is the maino-nehru family then why is it state funded? Why not state funds for PVNR Foundation, ABV Foundation, MorarjiDesai Foundation, Charan Singh Foundation, LBS Foundation? If not, why special rules for the above?

An MP who happens to be a President of CongI should be funded either by self or CongI or the "salary" owed to her by the GOI. Now the question is what did Sonia do with her 2 Cr. per year MPLAD scheme?

Saars, still, how is one able to attach a concrete obscene figure like $2B to her name? Even if she takes hafta, how are these organizations able to put a dollar/Rupee figure to it?

SG has political connections (obviously), and there are loopholes exploited to allow her perks. I don't contest that. I just am saying that the $2B claim seems ridiculous.

why not arrest her for accruing public money illegally? we need to ask her to substantiate the worth on her balance sheet / income and inheritance. if the inheritance is illegal and/or unsubstantiated, then we should arrest her.

the reason i am saying, the black money market folks and illegal people will continue to vote for kangrez, and they have their market share.. why would they want their illegal money taken away by modi, and spent on some public infrastructure projects?

go after the basics first.. arrest these high end people.. before they run off from the country. and correct all problems for taxes, fees, policies and standards. ask, and we shall provide solutions.. there are plenty of solutions, but nothing can come up with kangrez networks.

the plague is deep and cancer is robust. very difficult, unless people see more money in legal setup.

Relax otherwise you'll get a heart attack

Seriously though, we've made it pretty far. We all knew that there would be challenges along the way. It will take a lot to eradicate the deep state but it will happen, with or without Modi. He has shown everyone that anything is possible and there will be others like him.

Saar, you are counting white money. Of course we cannot count the black money. So yes, you are asking how HuffPo calculated the ridiculous $2B?

Let us take just the RGF. Its corpus 10 years back was 1000 Cr (PVNR gifted it on becoming PM, started with 100Cr then. It was more like a rent seeking to ensure he remains in PM'ship and RGF is not touched). Since it will have grown to some 10x now, think 10,000 Cr is not a farfetched figure. Add all of that to SG's Khata. In fact instead of digging gold in Unnao, all GOI has to do is wind up RGF and give its entire corpus to ISRO. They can have one series of rockets that has to perform dog leg maneuver in RG's name.

RGF has steadfastly declined to give its balance sheets, arguing that it is a private entity. And *only* 4% of its yearly budget is GoI grant in aid. How do you think the lootem's(tm) delhi durbar is sustained?

At the end you will find an articles to cases against RGF's to disclose its amount. Why is RGF not following HC's order? Or even a 20 year old article indicating an idea about RGF's finances (Rs. 25 Cr via private donations, Rs. 100 Cr. per mine in 1995., with 15% compound growth that will be 1600 Cr. now or $2.5 Billion)

Now we are talking only about RGF. I did mention the JLNF and IGF. #termitebahu (or #looteribahu) is the beneficiary.

NOTE: Tweetarites can take information from above/below (try to take corroborated information if possible) and twitter it. The pressure on RGF should be brought out. Again.
High Court directs Rajiv Gandhi Foundation to submit balance sheets
STAFF REPORTER

The Delhi High Court has directed non-government organisation Rajiv Gandhi Foundation (RGF) to submit its audited balance sheets from its constitution in 1991 till 2010-2011, as well as the contributions made to it by the Union and the State Governments and its instrumentalities.

Justice Rajiv Shakdher passed the direction on a petition by Shanmuga Patro, challenging a Central Information Commission order of 2010, whereby the Commission had dismissed his petition urging it to declare the Foundation a public authority under the Right to Information Act, and directed it to provide information sought by him.

Mr. Patro had approached the Commission in 2010, when the Foundation refused to provide him copies of its constitution, bye-laws, rules and regulations, and the documents showing its organisational structure sought by him

.The Foundation had refused to provide the information, saying that it wasn’t a public authority under the Act.

The CIC had also upheld the Foundation’s plea saying that “RGF cannot be said to be a public authority by any stretch of imagination, as the Government contribution (to it) is less than 4 per cent.”

However, the CIC had suggested to the board of trustees of the Foundation to consider and continue to voluntarily place maximum information regarding its activities on its website, like its constitution, bye-laws, rules and regulations, its annual income and expenditure, and the nature of works undertaken or completed by it.

But the Commission had made it clear that the suggestions would be without any prejudice to its conclusion that RGF wasn’t a public authority under the Act.

The Commissioner had passed the order after going through the audited accounts of the Foundation from its inception to 2008-2009, along with a tabular statement indicating its year-wise overall income, and the component thereof received from the Central Government / State Government or the instrumentalities thereof.

Mr. Patro had sought declaration of the Foundation a public authority, arguing that the formation of RGF was declared by the Union Government through the Budget speech by the Finance Minister, and the Government also created a corpus for running its affairs.

The petitioner also submitted that the Foundation had received substantial funding from the Government, saying that all the funds received by the Foundation belonged to ‘We the people of India’. However, the Foundation had countered it saying that the direct grant of the Government didn’t exceed 4 per cent of the total receipts of the Foundation.

The petition will come up for hearing before Justice Shakdher on November 21.
And here is the article from 1995

RAJIV GANDHI FOUNDATION
Sonia Vs The Government
Rolling in millions, the RGF is attacked for keeping its account books under wraps
RANJIT BHUSHAN

THE Rajiv Gandhi Foundation (RGF) is on the warpath. The much pampered and privileged NGO, which has Sonia Gandhi as its chairperson, is crossing swords with the very government which has funded it liberally. In what is seen as blatant arrogance, the RGF has refused to abide by conditions binding to all government-funded organisations. Not only has the Foundation denied the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) access to its book of accounts, but it has made it clear that it will not submit copies of its annual reports to be tabled in Parliament. To top it all, the RGF has refused to reserve jobs for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SCs and STs) on the grounds that the Foundation already has sufficient staff and professionals with experience are hard to find among the underprivileged classes.

The most privileged group in the country runs the RGF. The board of trustees flaunt the most distinguished names in Indian public life. Besides chairperson Sonia Gandhi, its members include the President, the Prime Minister, P. Chidambaram, Sam Pitroda, Amitabh Bachchan, Rahul and Priyanka, Suman Dubey and M.J. Akbar. The Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Contemporary Studies, run by the RGF, includes Abid Hussain, Mani Shankar Aiyar, Montek Singh Ahluwalia, director of Unilever Ashok Ganguly, scientific adviser Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Prof Ravinder Kumar, director of the Nehru Memorial Museum, and other luminaries from the world of academia.

Yet, in spite of the impressive VIP line-up, the RGF wants Government funds without any strings attached. The Foundation has made it clear that its funds which stem from an accumulated corpus of Rs 25 crore are not open to Government audit through the CAG. Points out Pulok Chatterjee, secretary of the RGF: "This (the Foundation) is not a state subject. This institution deals with community welfare programmes and we have our own set of chartered accountants who audit accounts. There is no question of agreeing to the kind of demands put forth by the Planning Commission."

What has provoked the Foundation to spell out its "Government funds but no strings attached" stand is a grant of Rs 1 crore released by the Planning Commission to the RGF this March. The money was meant to propagate Rajiv Gandhi’s grandiose vision of a panchayati raj. The RGF was to set up a task force on panchayats to "act as a catalyst for proper implementation of the 73rd Constitution Amendment Act which gives constitutional status to local governments of this country and enjoins the state governments to make them effective units of the government".

However, some conditions would have to be abided by the RGF before the money could be released. The Planning Commission contract stipulated that the money would be made available only if the funds were made accountable to a Government audit to be placed on the floor of Parliament and provision was made for reservation of jobs for SCs and STs in the Foundation.

Chatterjee, a career bureaucrat sent on deputation to the RGF in 1993, reportedly at the request of Sonia Gandhi, was quick to react to the conditions laid down by the Planning Commission. He wrote to the Commission that if the provisions were applied to the RGF, the Foundation would be more than glad to return the money given to it. The RGF stand was that "the Foundation has certain specified objectives and any constraints in fulfilling these objectives because of outside control will not be conducive to our efforts. "

But such arrogance could be counter-productive. Finance Ministry officials predict that the RGF might run into rough weather if it persists with its present stand since the Foundation is the recipient of many such fundings from different ministries of the Government. For instance, not much seems to be known about the Rs 55 lakh grant given to the RGF in 1993-94 by the Planning Commission. This is in spite of the fact that a similar bond had been executed at the time. But then the RGF had not raised objections of the kind now being taken up.

The matter does not end here. The RGF has also turned down similar provisions which would apply to it regarding two one-time corpus fundings from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD). This year the Home Ministry allotted a corpus of Rs 1.5 crore for the Project Interact Scheme of the Foundation. This project is meant to bene-fit nearly 500 children orphaned by terrorist violence in Punjab, Andhra, Jammu and Kashmir, Nagaland, Tripura and Assam. The Foundation claims it meets the costs of school fees, uniforms and books up to the senior secondary school.

The other grant of Rs 1.5 crore from the HRD Ministry is for the Foundation’s village library programme. According to RGF officials, this scheme is expected to "provide for the means for sustaining literacy" and "to promote documentation and dissemination of culture, folklore and traditions". According to an RGF brochure, "though there has been much talk on producing literature emanating from the rural areas, we are pursuing it in a serious manner" and "the books are displayed in the open, enabling the reader to feel, touch and see them."

In both cases, the Foundation ruled out Government monitoring of its affairs, either by way of audit or through any parliamentary scrutiny. Chatterjee says that he would be writing to the Ministry of Home Affairs and the HRD Ministry as well as the Finance Ministry’s Expenditure Department, telling them that they are free to take the corpus funds back. The RGF’s stand is that it will brook no Government interference.

Why is the RGF not opening out its books for scrutiny? According to an insider, the expenditure pattern of the Foundation is not going to be accepted by Government auditors who will apply the same yardstick as they do to similar Government-funded NGOs. "The high-profile visitors. Their boarding and lodging and other expenses in the best possible hotels in the capital. Who is going to account for that. Not Government auditors, who are used to modest TA-DA routines. There could be other anamolies as well," says the source.

As for reserving jobs for SCs and STs, which is mandatory under the revised reservation policy, Chatterjee says that with a staff strength of 60 at the Foundation, there is scarcely any need to hire more people. Chatterjee spelt out his stand in a strongly-worded letter to the Planning Commission. To quote the letter: "The Foundation is running a large number of projects through NGOs of repute and it is imperative that its funds are properly utilised with a view to optimum benefit to the underprivileged sections of society. In this background, it is necessary for the Foundation to recruit people on the basis of professional qualifications and suitable experience. Any dilution of standards in our recruitment is bound to affect the utility of our programmes at the grassroot level."

Finance Ministry officials point out that all one-time grants given by the Government have to be put under the official microscope. Well-placed sources in the Planning Commission add that earlier this year they had been "unofficially" told that all ministries were expected to give donations of Rs 1 crore to the RGF.[\b] They indicate that the Union Health Ministry is expected to make available the grant. Planning Commission officials also indicate that several other departments may be ready to provide assistance, notwithstanding P.V. Narasimha Rao’s failed attempt to push through a Rs 100 crore grant spread over five years to the RGF in 1992.[\b]

{Disha: This is the rent collection being done by the RGF since 1992. Take all ministries of the GoI giving 1Cr per year for all the time CongIs are in power., and this is precisely why NaMo is being opposed. As PM NaMo will go through all planned and unplanned expenditure and ask where is the 1Cr being sent? And why to RGF? All the rent collection of RGF will come to a stop. In the early part of the post I gave a figure of 1000Cr. Sounds plausible? Here you go to dispel further doubts}

With a philanthrophic Government and well-meaning friends in the corporate sector, the financial health of the Foundation is becoming rosier by the day. Besides the Government largesse, the country’s top industrialists are also falling over each other to donate generously. A look at the RGF corpus is revealing. In 1991-92, it totalled Rs 11.17 crore; in 1992-93, it rose to Rs 16.29 crore; to 19.67 crore in 1993-94 and yet further to Rs 22.46 crore in 1994-95, making it the only foundation in the country which is actually adding to its corpus. {Disha: And Rs. 25 Cr in 95' via private donations is the figure which RGF wants you to know. Conservatively I estimated 100 Cr. in 95' from all sources as part of the RGF}

There is no doubting the fact that the RGF is high profile. Its headquarters is a sprawling four-acre architectural marvel situated in the heart of the capital, barely a few yards from Parliament House. {Disha: This itself is worth 100Cr - Nah? BTW maintained by GOI, that is an income into RGF} The Foundation frequently organises well-attended international seminars where social and community welfare issues are discussed. But are these conferences a facade? Says social scientist Rajni Kothari: "The RGF seminars are an effort to seek legitimacy by inviting top foreigners and Indians. It was meant to be the headquarters of the AICC. Now it has been turned into Sonia’s private preserve." Besides, he points out: "Its anti-poverty programmes are designed to put pressure on the Government so that it goes slow on the Bofors investigation."

People long connected with the Nehru-Gandhi family trusts are reticent to speak. Former minister of state for finance, Rameshwar Thakur, whose firm Thakur-Vaidyanath are the official chartered accountants for RGF, protests that it is not right for auditors to comment on the financial state of affairs of companies it looks after. "Ask me anything but this," says Thakur, who is also a former chairman of the National Herald and a family loyalist.

However, the initial damage seems to have been done. Officials at the Finance and Home Ministries are now involved in endless discussions on how funds were granted in the first place without Finance Ministry clearance. But in an election year, when Sonia’s goodwill is seen as being "crucial" for the Congress, can Rao’s government take on the might of the RGF for a few hundred crores? {Disha:Now you know why PVNR is reviled by CongIs!}

And KJoishy'Sar - Et Tu?

PS: NaMo banenge Pradhan Mantri!

Yes, I admit that I identified NaMo as one of the best PM candidate followed by his 2nd electoral victory in Guj. (2009) :-) but that does not mean you have to certify yourself with "Hail NaMo" pass. We all are bharatiya's in thinking and that is what it matters. Our approaches may be different but our goals are same.

With Jammu (20 MLAs) + Udhampur (17 MLAs) + Ladakh (4 MLAs) and PoK (24 MLAs) one gets 65 MLAs. ⅔ majority in J&K Assembly (101) is 67. With another 2 MLAs from rest (Srinagar, Baramulla, Anantnag) one could theoretically change the J&K Constitution, and thus get rid of Article 370.
Much better alternative would be to change the Indian constitution. Nominating POK MLAs may not be possible/acceptable as this will be challenged up to the Supreme Court. Can a change be brought to the constitution that will remove the article 370?

Sure sir, no tension. I have just written what would be mafia doing. We can not expect it to fold so easily. But Modi learned too well under the attacks of 11 plus years and up to the task. Other leaders are all learning. People like Parrikar are all slowly coming up. Both short and long term looks good.

^^ Links to the above. Only 2 valid articles in 20 years so far:

http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper/tp ... 607936.ece

http://www.outlookindia.com/article.aspx?200443

This is the link to the CIC decision on RTI inquiry into RGF., decision as of march, 26 2010

http://www.rti.india.gov.in/cic_decisio ... _43958.pdf
The RGF was registered on 21.6.1991 with MHA under Foreign
Contributions (Regulation) Act, 1996 w.e.f. 2.8.1991. This enables RGF to
4receive foreign contributions. Besides, RGF is registered u/s 12A of the
Income Tax Act, 1961. This registration enables RGF not to pay tax for its
income.
(iv) RGF is also registered u/s 80G of the Income Tax Act with consequential
benefits.
(v) RGF is also entitled to avail exemption from payment of Customs Duty
and Central Excise Duty in terms of Government notifications dated
23.7.1996 and 01.3.1997
(vi) During the period FY 1999-2000 and FY 2007-08 RGF had total income of
8,49,02,607/- out of which grants were of Rs 31,06,859/-; donations of Rs
11,03,000/-; project related income of Rs 1,51,98,740/-; foreign
contribution of Rs 1,67,58,255/- and interest accrual of Rs 4,87,35,753/-.
These components constitute 3.65%; 1.29%; 17.90%, 19.73% and
57.40% of the total income respectively.
{Disha: Where are the audited figures of the above?}

And drumroll please:
(viii) RGF has been acting as a designated authority and an extended arm of the Government to advise on issues of public importance. The appellant
has cited several instances wherein RGF has collaborated with the Government and its instrumentalities in matters like Empowerment of the Panchayati Raj Institutions, Right to Education, Public Health Systems and Processes and Disabled Related Policies etc.
(ix). The Govt of India has a permitted All India Service officers to join RGF on deputation basis from time to time. [\b]

So GoI provides maintenance of RGF's HQ., GoI provides the personnel (approx. 60 in '95)., provides 4% of Grants (by RGF's own admission) and definitely no duties and taxes and still it cannot ask RGF to audit its finances. And this is RGF only. We have *not* touched JLNF, IGF etc.

Why I was upset with LKA and ABV? They should have uprooted RGF (basically ask all NGOs to provide audited finances or wind up!). Loot karna to koi CongIs se hi sikhein.

Added later: Here is another shell game (from above PDF)

RGF was housed in the premises standing on the land granted to Jawahar Bhawan Trust (JBT), who allowed RGF to function from a part of its premises. As tenant, RGF contributes and shares the common expenditure on maintenance and service, etc. of the premises and it also shares with JBT the property tax paid. The JBT was created through a mandate and Deed of Declaration of Trust given by Article XIX (i) of the Constitution of the Indian National Congress and was entirely independent of the Government. The perpetual lease dated 22.09.1988 was granted by the Land & Development Office to JBT and not to the RGF

Perpetual lease to JBT? In 1988? Who authorized that?

Sirji,
Funds are not coming from China or KSA. Nobody, but no body gives moolah like the Sher Khan. China may give arms but not money (or very small token amounts). Not only Sher Khan gives money, it allows the corrupt ex-military and politicians (that means every one) to send their money and relatives to settle down and prosper in the US. No one wants to live in China or the KSA.

Much better alternative would be to change the Indian constitution. Nominating POK MLAs may not be possible/acceptable as this will be challenged up to the Supreme Court. Can a change be brought to the constitution that will remove the article 370?

Do we have records of the people who stayed in the erstwhile POK, but are now living in India (their descendants, anyway)? If so, what happens if we allow only them to vote for the corresponding seats, and cite procedural problems about holding polls in the actual regions of POK? Maybe we can even put up polling booths on the POK border and allow the POK people to come and vote, with their identifications. You can bet what you like that the Pakistanis will prevent it as much as they can.

This way, we can allow a large number of Hindus/Sikhs to vote for the POK region. Also, with 24 new members (mostly Hindus/Sikhs, since they are the ones that fled PoK in a larger number in 1947), the religious composition of the JK Assembly will be upturned. We should be able to ram through the abrogation of the Article 370 in the JK Assembly.

Even if they burn the computers and file folders, they can be arrested and thrown in jail. Here is the March 2012, 2-page "audited" balance sh$t from RGF's website with signatures of Priyanka Vadra and Sonia Gandhi.

In Emergency, CongIs appropriate themselves of a 4 acre property for 30 lakhs. Basically called "Jawahar Bhawan Trust"., the property is perpetually "leased" to JBT. And that property is now owned by RGF (because the trustees of RGF - Shri Rahul Gandhi is also the trustee of JBT).
Breach of trust
Jawahar Bhawan in New Delhi is as controversial as it is ugly
YUBARAJ GHIMIRE JANUARY 2, 2013 | UPDATED 17:55 IST

The sprawling Jawahar Bhawan in central New Delhi is almost as controversial as it is ugly. It has the potential of setting the Sonia Gandhi-headed Jawahar Bhawan Trust against the Congress(I) - the legitimate owner of the land which it bought, during the Emergency for Rs.30 lakh.
Although the three-storeyed building was meant for the party, 24 Akbar Road still functions as the Congress headquarters. And there are indications that it may now be utilised for opening the Rajiv Gandhi Institute for Contemporary Studies.

Already, the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation has taken possession of the third floor, consisting of 23 rooms and service centres - because of this, the original plan to allot rooms to the party president, general secretaries, treasurer and other office-bearers while providing them with telephone facilities has been shelved.

The Jawahar Bhawan Trust has also decided to give the second floor to the foundation. Given that the family was the party's foundation for so many years, it is understandable.

kapilrdave wrote:What I don't understand is that why did NM chose this particular time for this speech. He specially went to Jammu to deliver this speech when election related news is at peak from delhi and RJ. Right after completing the speech he went back again to delhi for another speech. His thoughts for A370 would not receive that much coverage in media. Does it have anything to do with delhi election that I can't see?
On hindsight, it is a brilliant masterstroke from his campaign. Here my theory.

1. Modi's favorite agenda is development & progress, India first, good governance, skills development, healthcare, welfare ityadi. He considers these as fundamental to solve problems of the people - from corruption to several endemic problems.

2. Modi was already campaigning in Chattisgarh, MP, Rajasthan and Delhi. He brought several local issues especially in Delhi the lack of governance of Shiela.

3. His itinerary had 2-3 speeches in Delhi. He can only highlight/repeat the points. Since his speeches are given pan-Indian attention, he has find something relevant and original all the time. Else, people will lose attention. The more he talks about anti-Corruption, the more he plays the game of AAP. AAP, because of Anna Hazare has the legacy, how much ever a brief one, of speaking against corruption. So if Modi keeps drilling Congress, the votes will go towards BJP and some to AAP. So he has to talk something different. But it has to be strong, emotive and relevant. Not some irrelevant and "communal".

4. Here comes J&K. First the distance, it is close from Delhi. He can make a speech in Delhi, go to Jammu make a speech and return to Delhi to make another speech. He can do this in 24-48 hours. Second, this gives him the opportunity to talk about his agenda I mention in #1. The more he talks about it, the more people aspire and are provided hope. They see a bright future. They see what they missed because of bad politicians, family politicians, handful of rich overlords so to speak.

5. Can't he have done this in Delhi? Nope. In order to talk about IIT, IIM and Film Institute - education, tourism and employment ; he needs a state that lacks these. J&K is the perfect candidate. To top that, he can talk about Article 370. He brings the attention of the nation on how Congress once again let down J&K and the country. He co-opts Nehru, he already has Mahatma, Patel and others in his fold. This is a systematic removal of the good Congress of the pre-Independence era. He has established how the present Congress has let down its earlier leaders. He cannot do this in Delhi, it will get repetitive and will be less convincingly.

6. Now look what happened in News Hour show. Arnab was sure to bring this - I easily expected it. Surely Modi's managers would have expected it. Arnab is a hawk when it comes to speaking against Pakistan or a strong India. Prasad turned up with sheets of paper, with relevant points highlighted in yellow. The viewers saw that. Next Smriti Irani turned up with the Constitution, quoted straight up from it. Finally Swamy does what he does best, shouts/barks and asks the troubling questions - why were the KP driven out? Why are the Hindus any different from Muslims? Aren't Hindus citizens? Arnab had to cut him down - and say no Communal talk. Swamy responds - Is it commuanlism if one stands up for Hindus? Arnab then gets into Hindutva trilogy.

7. People are watching - the BJP (which I used to call the Bimar Janata Party or Bechara Janata Party), now comes prepared well and gives a tough fight. Baig, Lone and Singhvi were left squirming. Sure Smriti/Prasad did not answer why BJP did nothing in the last decade. Like I maintain that was a lost decade and BJP accomplished very little. We can talk D4 etc. But that is another debate.

8. Finally, Delhi has a sizeable KP refugees, no? I am not sure of the number. He did not mention KP for a reason. But the speech will capture the minds of KP, when he talks about integration. Samajdar ko ishara kafi hota hain. By talking about normalcy of Kashmir, he is batting for them - he does not have to mention them.

So he uses emotive and a strong political message for his political gains. Brilliant. Timing is perfect.

So KJoishy'ji. We now have information about

1. Rajiv Gandhi Foundation - RGF
2. Jawahar Bhavan Trust - JBT
3. Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund, Teen Murti House - New Delhi (separate from above two).
4. Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Contemprary Studies
5. Indira Gandhi National Center of Arts.

The above are based in Delhi. So outside of Delhi, here is the list:

1. Rajiv Gandhi Mahila Vikas Pariyojna., Kanpur. http://www.rgmvp.org/about.asp?lk=ab1
2. Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Trust/Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Trust - Amethi/Lucknow. Further Indira Gandhi Eye Hospitals come under it.
3. Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust, Gurgaon, Haryana -> check this http://www.indiatvnews.com/politics/nat ... -9347.html

....
And further here on how the stranglehold by SG achieved:

http://www.rediff.com/news/1999/sep/16arvind.htm
Incidentally, it was the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation to which the ''clean'' and ''gentlemanly'' Manmohan Singh allocated one billion rupees in his very first Budget that was presented, remember, even as part of the nation's gold lay mortgaged abroad.

Sonia Gandhi's real coup, however, has been the stranglehold she has obtained over the wealthiest cultural institution of the country, having a corpus of one billion rupees and 21 acres of prime land in New Delhi valued at 50 billion rupees. How she did that in gross violation of the law and in utter disregard of public accountability is set out in Sandhya Jain's article in The Pioneer of June 22, 1999. Below is Ms Jain's case in short:

* The Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts was set up by a Cabinet decision as an autonomous public trust in March 1987 to promote the preservation and integrated development of all the arts. Its president was the prime minister, Rajiv Gandhi; There were six other trustees.

* IGNA's original trust deed stipulated a 10-year term for the trustees, with one third retiring in 1997 and the government filling the vacancies. The President of India, as Visitor, could appoint a Review Committee to scrutinise its functions. This Committee's recommendations were binding. Because the government had given it a corpus of over half a billion rupees, the Comptroller & Auditor General of the country was to audit its accounts.

* When Rajiv Gandhi died in 1991, Sonia Gandhi was allowed to replace him as president of the board of trustees though she had no official status or public stature.

* In the midsummer of 1995, when a Congress defeat in the general election of the coming year could be foreseen, the six supremo trustees effected radical changes to the trust deed. ''Private citizen'' Sonia Gandhi became lifetime president while the others became lifetime trustees. The government was deprived of the right to appoint the member-secretary, and the right of the Visitor (President of India) to appoint a review committee was denied. The trustees also assumed the right to appoint more ''co-opted'' members, while the government of India's human resources development minister was reduced from ex-officio chairman to ex-officio member.

* The above sweeping changes were in violation of Article 24 of the original trust deed under which all amendments required the ''prior written approval'' of the government. Indeed, that stipulation itself was not included in the amended deed.

* The then HRD minister, Madhavrao Scindia, (a trusted lieutenant of Sonia Gandhi to this day), approved the new deed within a fortnight of the trustees' meeting, and did so without reference to the Cabinet, or even the law and finance ministries.

* Both, the amendment and the approval, were kept secret until February 1996 when IGNCA approached the Centre to enhance the capital cost of the building and had to produce the amended deed with its application for financial enhancement.

* As a bewildered government sought legal remedies, the attorney general opined that the amendments were, in sum, legally invalid. Despite the government twice conveying the legal position to the Trust, it has not received even a reply. It remains to be seen what the Trust's response is to the Centre's directive to the CAG to undertake the audit that had not been allowed by the Trust since 1994.

Meanwhile, let it be noted that during the seventh and eighth Plans, the IGNCA received Rs 84.30 million from the government of which, it is not clear, how much has been spent and how much there is in the Personal Ledger Account. But charge Sonia Gandhi with using public money to create a personal fiefdom, and she is likely to say that in a democracy you have to trust people, especially the dynasty; the rest is all technical.

Tailpiece: One of the ''co-opted'' members inducted into the IGNCA by the coup of 1995 was that ''clean'' and gentlemanly ''man of integrity'' who, while being a pucca Delhiite, had become a member of the Rajya Sabha on the ground of being ''ordinarily a resident of Assam.'' His name is Manmohan Singh.
{Any doubts of calling SG as termite queen? Now $2B looks too small - all of them have Trustees/Executive Trustees the following: SG, PVadra, RG}

And takeover of the TMC Trust by Sonia G in 2001.

http://www.hindu.com/2001/09/03/stories/04032231.htm

And if BRFites are not yet sick to their stomach - here is one more:

SG is the trustee of Jaliawala Bagh National Memorial Trust!

I am looking for official confirmation, but is not found other than here: http://vicharak1.wordpress.com/2011/06/ ... seriously/

I usually don't waste my money on what the presstitutes write and thus I have not bought a newspaper for more than 5 years now. But thanks to my wife's educational needs (she does not live on the Internet 12 hours a day like I do), I was FORCED to buy Economic Times (the only English-language economic newspaper delivered in the suburbs of a 3rd tier city like mine). Guess what, this is the news I first read on the front page:

http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/new ... 755472.cms

The paper had a much more colorful title like "Modi has pockets, but Rahul has pants" or something. If you read this, you will get an idea about how much unadulterated nonsense/filth is masquerading as news in our newspapers. At this stage to compare Modi and pappu, let alone compare them in way favorable to pappu is just beyond imbecilic. This is tantamount to fraud. These people should be arrested and jailed. To imagine a person can indulge in such intellectual masturbation on national news is a humiliation to our democracy. How much money should be paid to someone to virtually drop pants and bend over like this? In the end, for now, all i can do is mourn the money and time I wasted in reading this piece of vulgarity.

disha, how do those trusts work? Is the money officially and legally belonging to SG?
Mags which calculate richness use trackable legal sources of income and come up with their numbers. We have to do the same with SG. Who knows Buffett Dadaji and Billoo Badshah may both be reaching $100B if you add trusts and everything else they have some tangential interest in.
Swiss Bank accounts cannot be counted because they may have $1 or $111B in there.

To put that in perspective - a thousand people like Sonia Gandhi would have as much wealth (in numerical terms - not to get started on whether or not this is a "mangoes to mangoes" comparison) as the current GDP of India.

No this topic is apt. NaMo is *not* a trustee of any org except Somnath Temple. And this discussion is apt, this does contrast between the workings of a dynasty (and how it is perpetuated) vs. the ideals of a democracy. So let us continue here ...

Sir, first we have to understand what "trustee"'ship means in common law. Then we can go into Indian corporate laws later.

Per Common Law - here is what wiki states (and this will also help you in creating what is called as living trust and note I am extremely thin on corporate laws BTW):
A trust is created by a settlor, who transfers some or all of his or her property to a trustee. The trustee holds that property for the trust's beneficiaries.
Let us take JBT and RGF (given the maze of trusts, it is easier to be simple).

Who created JBT? Answer is GOI. So a trust called JBT is created by GOI and several trustees are appointed to manage the trust on behalf of GOI. Further, the trust can create child-trusts or partner with other trusts as instructed by the trustees. So who is a trustee?
A trust may have multiple trustees, and these trustees are the legal owners of the trust's property, but have a fiduciary duty to beneficiaries ... In some cases dependent upon the trust instrument, the trustees must make discretionary decisions as to whether beneficiaries should receive trust assets for their benefit.
In case of SG's trusteeship, if you see the pattern., SG, PV and RG are all trustees! So per common law they own the trust's property.

Now coming to JBT, it was created by GOI, the land was purchased by GOI and deemed to the trust in Perpetuity and its trustees are SG, PV and RG. GOI granted money to RGF via its ministries and its trustees are SG, PV and RG. JBT leased an entire floor to RGF., it is like you leasing your toilet to your house.

The question is what happens if a trustee is no more - that is in absence of SG who will become the next trustee - remember per common law they are owners (they can appoint or elect a committee to manage its affairs) - here for JBT/RGF the next in line are PV and RG. And they can appoint their kids as trustees once they come of age (and if the rest of the board is spineless - in case of 5 member trustees, 3 are already from one family!!).

In effect all the trusts where SG/PV/RG are trustees should come under the "maino-nehru" family wealth.

There is something called Hon'rary trustees - basically in name only - that is there is no clear "beneficiary" - like a trust to take care of dogs or cemetry. That is a different thing.

Coming to Buffet Dadaji, you just cannot create a foundation and name Dadaji as trustee. In effect you are turning over your foundation to Buffett Dada. Of course, Buffet Dada has several living trusts including trusts to take care of his children and grand children and he is a trustee of them and he has to show it as ownership including appropriate taxation. So bringing in Buffett Dada to show that Sonia G is not an owner just because she is a trustee is a red herring. That is a deviation in argument and should not be discussed further.

Given the wide web of Sonia's trusteeship - she is richer than the queen elizabeth. And that is what Dynasts do.

Here are the dynasts:

1. The Yadav duos - but they are dumb - they need to set up a trust and appoint themselves as trustees
2. The Sharad Pawars <- They already are trustees in several sugar cooperatives
3. The Scindias <- Same
4. The Badals <- Same (smart)
5. The Thackerays <- Not sure after the fight between the brothers - generally it is over trusteeship
6. MuKa <- Check out his trusteeships and that of Stalin/Kanimozhi etc.

And that is how dynasts perpetuate themselves.

Do you think her assets are just Rs1.38 crores? http://myneta.info/ls2009/candidate.php ... te_id=5613

Many IT folks in Maasa, would have more than that. Many desis IT professionals have that much money. Flats in Bangalore and Hyderabad go for Rs 1.5 crores, and IT people own easily one flat - in the range of Rs. 40-70 lakhs. And somebody wants us to think the daughter-in-law of late Indira Gandhi, the wife of late Rajiv Gandhi, the UPA Chairperson, the NAC Chairperson, ityadi ityadi is just Rs. 1.38 crore.

Seriously there will be BRFites who have more than her alleged paltry net worth.

Vamsee - You can start from the above list - Basically it is a google search for like "Sonia Gandhi Trustee" and it will come through. Above is free information and fair game for anybody to take and go from there. KJoishy?

Again I have mentioned before., I am under deluge of both personal and professional work - so do not want to make promises. I will add to that body of above work as time permits.

Relevant here, as to why NM is now so important
Cosmo_R wrote:These words from a Lord Macartney: "The empire of China is an old, crazy, first-rate man of war, which a fortunate succession of vigilant officers have contrived to keep afloat for these 150 years past, and to overawe their neighbours merely by her bulk and appearance.

This is how the Empire contemplated its would be prey and why China eventually fell

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-24517648

MMS can now be seen in perspective

On a minor note, in the Beeb piece, can you see the over sized chairs to make Osborne and Johnson look small on TV?
MMS in perspective indeed, and is probably the worst PM India has had, given how many resources he had, and how he ran Indian aspirations into the ground. Probably once he goes, we'll get to know what all he did more than what has come out in media alone, despite the near complete attempt to position him otherwise

Singular achievements, all collated from even his own praise singing media sources, available via multiple sources.

economics
- destroyed the growth impetus of indian economy
- wasted 8 years of the most crucial time of indian industry all the while posturing as a savior thanks to MSM
-indian infra - roads, power, social services, education remain abysmal, most remain plans on paper. indian cities remain horrible to live in thanks to rising population, traffic snarls, bad infra. rural india worse off, in many key areas
- india remains a laggard in most hitech endeavours critically dependent on imports for everything from energy supplies to hardware
- made india into an also ran in BRICs from a contender when the NDA left
- poverty, sanitation still a mess, despite doles
- sat over highway loot of tax money as cash-for-vote dole scams, and twiddled his thumbs
-value of indian citizens earnings constanly on decline due to inflation

corruption

- sat over an empire of brazen loot and corruption, breaking the very fiber of indian state, 1000 crore scams are now regarded as commonplace
- state agencies used to target political rivals

national security
- completely turned a nelsons eye as social fiber of nation was targeted, 'hindu terror', cbi used to attack political rivals, IB defanged
- attack after attack from TSP, and MMS response is to force IA/establishment to turn other cheek, make India into the exact dhimmi cowardly stereotype TSP takes us as
- sits over worst series of attacks on indian soil like 26/11, coming after many other attacks. business as usual. sends zardari a dove card (shameless)
- furthers communal divide by "losing sleep" only when minorities are arrested. this after bragging to US envoy that no Indian IM was ever a terrorist. delusional as events thereafter show
- Maoist menace grows from strength to strength. much hyped central paramil effort still floundering.
- indian defence industry remains critically dependent on imports. for every rs spend locally, thousands more spent on imports, only to have reports of malfunctioning gear or delays or unforeseen markups.
