Bold operation by Indian Army: Many militants involved in Manipur ambush neutralised in Myanmar
In a formal announcement, the Indian Army said, "Very specific & credible intelligence inputs revealed that more attacks were planned. Early this morning attacks were carried out along the Indo-Myanmar border."
"We have enjoyed good relations with Myanmar. We look forward to working with Myanmar for combating terrorism in future too," the statement said.
a BRF write this comment in ET?It had been confirmed to ET that special paratroopers, on the basis of intelligence inputs, neutralised close to a dozen militants involved in the Manipur ambush.
The ever-criticising Media shall NOW call for a panel discussion with Ajay Shukla, a self-proclaimed expert on Defence who shall let the whole world know from his infinite wisdom that the crack Indian army team killed some innocent civilians in Myanmar and trying to cover up their failure. Sanjay Jhaa shall sing chorus with Pavan Varma, KC Singh and Shekar Gupta that the crack team exhibited cowardice by the killing of innocent villagers. The TRPs of the mainstream media shall crank up manifold ..

Special forces appear to have neutralised some militants involved in the Manipur attack in a cross border operation in Myanmar. #developing

Now confirmed: Indian special forces carry out cross border operation into Myanmar. Several militants who carried out Manipur attack killed.

Somehow we should learn how to defeat this media circus threat as well.

Awaiting Pravin Swami commentary about how Myanmerese grandfathers accidentally crossed the border, fired a few RPG at fascist indians and army undertook bad bad response.
Meanwhile, finally we have a GOI. What a difference from spineless MMS and co.

Way to go Modi Sarkar.
Good message to all - Chin and TSP.... Dont mess with us.
Re: Indian Army: News and Discussions 11 June 2014
Amazing what can be accomplished when the shackles come off. The fact that it was launched swiftly and quietly after the ambush also means that our sigint and/or humint is very good.
Re: Indian Army: News and Discussions 11 June 2014
Only the beginning. We should expect a ramp up from all such inimical forces. We should prepare to be able to launch multiple such ops in the same theatre simultaneously across multiple points on the border. Don't give breathing room to regroup. Deliver crippling blows decisively.
Re: Indian Army: News and Discussions 11 June 2014
RoyG - why the and/or it is "and" only. Wonderful stuff though. The briefing was by Additional DGMO Maj. Gen. Randhir Singh in English, followed by a lady officer (didn't catch her name/rank). A senior guy on the terrorist side is killed or seriously wounded apparently. Clearly caught the enemy by surprise.
Added later: News trickling in - Assam Rifles and SF Unit 21 Para crossed the border, perhaps 2km deep into Myanmar, in a joint AF/Army operation.

This is a HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATION...Was any opportunity for surrender given?...It looks like a Brutal Murder...Some one shud file a PIL against Army in Court...Human Rights Violation shud b thoroughly investigated and concerned Officers shud be put behind bars
Re: Indian Army: News and Discussions 11 June 2014
Operation Golden Bird. We had conducted Joint Ops with Burma even then. Operation All Clear - our SF operated in Bhutan.
So we have done this before. And probably have done stuff in in J&K as well.
What is different this time is the publicity - probably to give a very public message.

More news trickling in: NDTV - the border was crossed in two places (in Nagaland and Manipur), and over 50 militants killed. NDTV says Mi-17s were used as well.

Of course, local BR whatsapp group is in frenzy. Reports (rumors?) say 100+ terrorshits neuter-lized and Mi-17s were in action. Heli-gunships, eh? Whole new dimension. Would love some confirmation...

Rajyavardhan Rathore says to NDTV it was a surgical strike to take out terror camps... So it was not just about chasing a band of terrorists. Rathore says: "This country does not tolerate strikes against us. We will hit them wherever they are... We will cross over and we will hit. Absolutely, we went inside Myanmar territory...and carried out the strikes. To eliminate militancy is extremely important...we have great co-operation by nations around (suggesting Myanmar)... Two camps were completely annihilated, not a single Indian casualty".

Re: Indian Army: News and Discussions 11 June 2014
This is shocking.
Did they have arrest warrants in the name of the terrorists ?
Did they use water cannons and lathi-charge before shooting them ?
Did they clear immigration and customs before crossing the border and after coming back ?
Did the helicopter have the ATC clearance ?
This is gross violation of human rights, fundamental rights, copy rights.

Is there any way some ISI and PLA 4 star generals were in these camps or can be baited to these camps and be given thier 72.
Re: Indian Army: News and Discussions 11 June 2014
Sources: Operation in Myanmar involved an IAF Mi-17 helicopter carrying commando team from 21 Para (Special Forces)
so they could have directly taken off by air from some deep base like dimapur to give no local warning at all.
a couple of su30s from tezpur dropping some 40x250lb bombs on the whole area after we pulled back would have been icing on the cake.

I wish they wouldn't give out such details eg choppers used etc. We should just say x militants killed and y unit did it, with so many militant casualties and pics. Hope this becomes more and more common and these terrorist scumbags understand what a resolute response is. Next, a few hard slaps to the Naxals and their overground sympathisers are also required.Singha wrote:Sources: Operation in Myanmar involved an IAF Mi-17 helicopter carrying commando team from 21 Para (Special Forces)

I hereby nominate Priya Pillai and Samit Aich for fact finding mission into the Myanmar jungle to find out. While they are there, they can investigate whether sustainable forest practices are in place and whether 21 Para SF replanted all the trees that they destroyed during the strike against terrorists. And they can Skype their report to the br1sh1t parliamentarians too. Jolly good I say, what what.srin wrote:This is shocking.

Raja Bose,
>>whether 21 Para SF replanted all the trees that they destroyed during the strike against terrorists
The Indian media is such a disgrace that I can well imagine the above coming up in some "panel discussion" by some jhola wallah
Rakesh, Col (rtd) Rathore must be proud of what the IA did today and how it kept its "promise" to the terrorists.
