I would speculate that Bofors does not have the capability to produce barrel, less than 50 Archers ordered/produced over a span of a decade plus does not sound sustainable to maintaining manufacturing facility.

We have around 400 fighters that can fire R-77 (and R-27?), so the recent re-up orders amount to only around 2 missiles per fighter. This is clearly a stop gap order and not a long term solution. Either way as an armchair gernaile I don't have much high hopes from them.

If it is infact a lifafa article then the RM or official spokesperson should come out and deny it, also officially cancel it. Going by the track record (Ka-226, Russian frigates etc.), next time Nut&Yahoo visits we may see this signed as a "friendship" deal.

What is the useful fuel load that a C-295 actually transfer? I doubt it can refuel more than one MKI per sortie (it actually weights less than an MKI) which sounds quite pathetic. Better to go for a purpose built aircraft like A330 MRTT that has 65t useful payload.

BTW if the launch is so close from Vizag, are there any civilians recording videos of the launch, it should be visible (and heard) from 10s of kilometers away. Surely someone would have noticed and pointed their phone cameras at it?

Another data point re R77/27 performance is the noise on ordering i-derby immediately after. How much was dalal's voice how much was actually from the IAF is open for debate though.

Please bold paras 2&3 in the above (DPP). I have been repeating ad nauseum the SP model is nothing more than a chorporate welfare scheme. Has anybody explained what methodology was used to select SP projects, and how they conveniently forgot these clauses in DPP.
