Re: LCA Tejas: News and Discussions

Probably we need to look into the deeper question that Shiv is really asking.. How is the number of squadrons of planes (with break up of types) really determined. what is the magic formula for this. @Shiv : Commonly fought wars are wars of attrition especially between equal powers. In such cases, t...

Re: LCA Tejas: News and Discussions

I really dont think China is going to join Pak in an all out war with India. They are not so dumb. They will tacitly provide all required material and posturing to ensure that our national power is diminished to the largest extent possible. They will defame us in UN and all other forums. They will g...

Re: LCA Tejas: News and Discussions

We oft forget that the LCA is supposed to replace the MiG-21. Does it do a better job than the Bison currently?. May be that is not enough for the future, but with us owning the entire plane upto to its nuts and bolts; it means that everything on the plane is updateable. If someone refers to the Tej...

Re: LCA Tejas: News and Discussions

I firmly believe (FWIW the opinions of some mango man count) that we should constantly develop the LCA further. More fuel, more aero changes, own the platform and make a few 100 of the type to bulk up the fleet with an Indian fighter we can constantly improve. If the IAF has a few hundred of a figh...

What would be the steps in testing the Derby/Python..

1. BNG
2. Electronically simulated Target ( Is this possible ??)
3. Lakshya towed target (this should be final test).

Will we see 2 or 3 next ?

And if IAF is insisting that only ASTE folks will be working on LCA from now on, that is hardly a case of complaining. On the contrary, it is exactly what people on here have been complaining. ^^ I have long felt that IAF, among the forces, is the worst when it comes to pragmatism. Their decisions are oft bizzare and make no long term sense to the common man. This is disheartening. Re: LCA Tejas: News and Discussions

If Mig-21 Bison troubled the US, Tejas will be a pain in the a$$ for them. Same size as Mig-21 but with better stealth (read higher level of composites). Should be quite a handful. Re: LCA Tejas: News and Discussions

Shiv the problem of determining the angle of attack from that picture is that we need to have the profile of the plane to determine the actual long axis chord of the aerfoil and the flow direction (relative wind). So when angulated you will have an error due to parallax. So since the plane has been...
