4) I know that the Jaguar is not a greatly maneuverable aircraft (at altitude at least) from two sources of information. The first is public statement that the Jaguar was ineffective for a Kargil type role, and the second is my personal observation that Jaguars in flight demos in Aero India typical...

Not sure if this has'nt been posted already, but 'The Telegraph' reports that the Trisonics is reportedly converting to the MiG-21 Bison. DDM i think, uptill now only the 35 Sqn Rapiers is reported to convert to Bison. IMHO Bisons will not be used to equip new squadrons, as it is an upgrade program...

Would it have been possible to use the Foxbats in an ELINT role by attaching pods? When these planes penetrated the neighbors' airspaces a lot of radars must have lit up, these radars and their characteristics could then be recorded, classified, and studied. Also, the Foxbats would have been able t...

That Mi-17 didnt have a working flares system. And from first hand accounts at the time, it was downed only after many MANPADs launches According to the Hindu from that time, there were at least 10 Stingers launched against that Mi-17 alone. Gaurav Sawant has written of one incident when our Para S...

The secretive nature of the Foxbat seems to be exaggerated. They've been open to civilians at least once in the past. The equipment is not super-sensitive, just the kind of missions they fly. Just 49 engineers for the entire span of their lifetime also seems way too low.
BTW This is not a MiG-25R.

Destroying the PAF is 1/10th of the IAF's role in war. That should be done before moving on to anything. Satellite surveillance is there. If the Navy is supposed to know where the Paki subs are at all times, the most important long range launchers should also be well covered. However, airborne recon...

In the case of war, the Pakis will know that the India will be hunting Ballistic missile launchers. Its not too likely that they'll waste their longer ranged assets on airbase strike (with their pathetic CEP, results are not guaranteed) and will instead, reserve as many as possible for the nuclear r...

Check out the home of the Flaming Arrows. Never seen something similar. Any reason for those patches? http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/6111/gorak6mh.th.jpg The Coast Guard operated F.27s leased from Indian Airlines, from Dum Dum. The lease supposedly expired long ago but the aircraft appear to remai...

Interesting. I remember that in the previous DEFEXPO, the ADA dude very specifically denied any RWR on PV-1. But a few months later, when I saw and sat in a partially disassembled PV-1, it had the antennae, the LRUs and the display unit in the cockpit. Eventually, PS Subramanium did accept that the...

There will be extensive Brahmos participation so find a good guy and ask, 1. About how much heatsinking the Brahmos uses to overcome heat while flying supersonic in the...
