Re: Indian Missiles and Munitions Discussion
an after thought...maybe we are not looking at the terminal shots of A1.....could be that the launch footage of a1 is mixed with splash down of some other system...if the 2.5 km figure is right, may be this can be an explntn...mt yields are too high to be used for pigs

Re: Indian Missiles and Munitions Discussion
acc to the same forum, yield= (hob/220)^3.....giving around 1.4 Mt....now this is a rediculus number...either the hob of 2.5 km is not quite right or we are really missing something.....just add to the fact that A1 is pig centric or were they testing fuse to be used on some other missile??

Varoon Shekhar saar, the CE 20 is the engine for C25 stage....i think the Wikipedia page distinguishes between the two but it is very obvious frm the slide itself in prev page...no two engines are being designed. Only CE 20 engine for the stage named C25!!!!

@eklavya where did you get those rcs numbers?
just checked Google chacha on the rcs numbers. Sorry for posting this in dhaga. Many sources do claim the numbers posted above(AW&T circa 1999)

Re: Indian Missiles and Munitions Discussion
can garu rammana and rohitvats share what was the altitude before detonation. Perhaps we will be able to speculate what kind of warhead yield can be expected from such airburst.

Re: Indian Missiles and Munitions Discussion
looking at the diameter of the thing its clearly not a 2 m structure......one can clearly see an interstage kind of a thing(a2??).....may be a2 being assembled??

Re: Indian Space Program Discussion
the c60 and c100 seem more like the vulcan and LE 7 class engines...these engines seem to be the building blocks of a new rocket family based on core engine comprising of c100/c60......so can expect comparable gto payload capability to ArianeV or HII....although a semi cryo engine is also in the wor...

Re: Newbie Corner & Military Miscellaneous
Gurus is there a way to know how much power would a propulsion system produce to drive a sub at a given speed and displacement?Eric you mentioned a proportionality relationship, can you elaborate?

Re: Newbie Corner & Military Miscellaneous
Thanks tsarkar. That means 140 MW are not directly used for propulsion. This thermal energy is used for electricity generation. Assuming that for a sub of Baracuda/Soryu class u need 10MW electric motor @ 25 knots, then u get a thermal to electrical conversion ratio of around 7%. Isn't that very low...

Re: Newbie Corner & Military Miscellaneous
Hi Eric, i didnt know about that. My question is more abt displacement vs power disparity in case of N powered and conventional propulsion.Put another way why would an N powered Baracuda class have a 140+ MW plant but a Soryu class just 7MW(Both displace 4k tons, leaving aside endurance both have al...

Re: Newbie Corner & Military Miscellaneous
Hello guys, i had some queries regarding about some commonly quoted numbers and terms regarding submarine propulsion, since i am a newbie please forgive my limited knowledge. So here i go: 1. Why would a 6000 ton nuclear sub require a 80MW-200MW reactor, while a 3000 ton diesel electric sub just has...
