Re: Air Force Tejas Mk1: News & Discussions: 02 January 2022

There was no way to order more than a tranche of 40 for a Mk1 version at that time - when, as the Mk1A which is yet to arrive is itself a compromise of the GSQR - so that's not the issue here. If true, it points to a yet to be mature manufacturing process, perhaps for composites.

Re: Air Force Tejas Mk1: News & Discussions: 02 January 2022

Posting here to invite comment on an extraordinary claim at the 23:20 minute mark, that the 40 Tejas Mk1 were essentially bespoke "hand made" items rather than an output of an assembly line of standardized tooling and practices. I find that hard to believe m but if true, the challenges to ...

Re: Air Force Tejas Mk1A: News & Discussions: 02 January 2022

In the interview above, the Def Secy confirmed that not all QRs have been met on the Mk1A variant, yet. It squares with HAL's statement that major QRs have been met. It would be in the IAF's interest to start induction and wait for incremental capabilities to be added in later tranches.

Re: Understanding New China After the 19th and 20th Congresses

I think the CCP is unanimous in their attitude towards Ondia viz. India must be contained and relegated to a lower status vis-a-vis China. Where differences may arise is on their priorities vis-a-vis the US and Taiwan. In that respect, a US-China detente may be more harmful to India by way of less e...

With Imran's banned PTI candidates still getting 105 votes, with no street campaigns, no election symbol, no PM candidate, it points to how much anger there is towards the PA and disillusionment with the other parties. It is a sign of the times that this thread doesn't even report the news of the formation of a coalition government in Pakistan. Truly Pakistan has vanished from most Indians' consciousness, to be remembered only during a cricket match or a terrorist attack.
