Folks, I asked the question based on these 2 points. Was there or is there a need for a like for like replacement for the Jaguar - IM version which had the ability to fire anti-ship missiles (if I am not wrong) and if the IN had ever thought of owning / operating aircrafts for the defense of its nav...

As we get closer to the D-day of the Tejas Mk1A & Tejas Mk2 first flight, we will continue to see these hit jobs. As long as the BJP government is in the office, I am confident that the order for Tejas Mk2 will be placed. Hence at the end of the day, as long as MRFA is not detrimental on the num...

The easy and the best possible option without the farce of a competition would be to order 1-2 squadrons of Tejas Mk1 and 4 additional squadrons of Tejas Mk1A or a combination of 4 additional squadrons of Mk1A & increase the number of squadrons of Mk2 to around 12. Negotiate a local manufacturin...

At the end of the day, Tejas Mk2 will be inducted and the number of Tejas Mk2 squadrons will depend on how much of the 114 Farce will get inducted into the IAF kitty. I personally would like 10-12 squadrons of Tejas Mk2 to be inducted at 20 - 24 aircrafts a year. In addition to that (post 2026), I w...

Both the carriers can accommodate 26 fixed wing aircrafts. With 70% availability each carrier will have a squadron worth of airframes. I think, IN should plan for 22 Single seat + 4 Twin seat fighters for each of the carriers.
