X-post I have re-checked my calculations. If the 6 million plus voters under judicial review in Bengal SIR are deleted then the Bdeshi illegal voters will be more or less eliminated from voting. If it is less say 2-3 million then many would still remain in the electoral rolls. The population of Beng...

There are many problems with what you wrote. Here are some. 1) Freebies and targeted welfare are 2 different things. It is already known that targeted welfare helps in alleviating poverty faster. The data over the last 10 years is right in front of you. 2) When you are saying there are 2% tax payers...

Even if the Salve story is true I do not see how it suddenly changed Indian cricket. I was then a young man and there was no TV. 1983 was all on radio. What it did give to Indians is a light of hope in a desperately poor and struggling country. But the cricket team struggled for decades. Before the ...

Indian cricket turned after it became a professional sport. Even when we had legends like Sachin, Saurav, Dravid, etc we were not a team expected to win.

India should send the men's and women's football teams to the Asian games. The women's senior, U20, U17 and men's U23, U17 teams are very promising with some changes to the line-up and should get exposure to build solid future teams.

Why can't railways get out of the dal, rice, chicken curry, paneer curry routine on premium trains? If the airlines can do it so can the railways. They should get out of the jail food, hospital food routine. If necessary charge a few extra rupees in vande bharat trains.

Also why Varanasi-Siliguri bullet train project and not Varanasi-Kolkata? The latter will make more economic sense.

The SIR process in West Bengal is likely to be only partially successful in weeding out illegal Bdeshis. The reason is that many have entered the rolls prior to the 2002 SIR when the CPIM was in power in WB and the INC in power at the center. The only option now left is the NRC.
