Like onion, every layer brings forth new surprises and tears to the eyes.
I firmly believe that more than ISI, we need to smash rings of terror created by US and British Intelligence against India.
ISI is nothing but a tool which like rest of the Paki Generals and Politicians is basking in the reflected glory of Western Intelligence agencies.
It is not that western intelligence agencies are far too competent then rest of the world, It is more like they were always hand in glove with these terrorists providing them all the specs/documentation for terrorisms against India,Russia and others.
Now that these in house terrorists have gone rogue after 9/11 and Iraq-Afghan war, suddenly they are being arrested from all rat holes.
What are the odds that we have heard last of this fake Desai, never to know in which jail he has disappeared.

This law suit is giving real takleef to jernails. Seems like doors to them to retire in US will close if convicted

Pakistan says it will defend spy chief in US suits .
Pakistan says it will contest two U.S. lawsuits that link its spy chief and his agency to the deadly 2008 attacks in Mumbai.

The Foreign Ministry's statement Thursday shows how sensitive Islamabad is to allegations that its intelligence services were involved in the assault that killed 166 people in archrival India. The ministry said Pakistan will "fully and properly" defend spy chief Gen. Ahmed Shuja Pasha against the accusations.
another potential scandal

U.S. worried by reports of Pakistan detentions: report
The United States is voicing concern over reports from human rights groups that Pakistan's security forces are holding thousands of political separatists without charge, The New York Times reported on Thursday.
Citing a State Department report to Congress last month, the Times said the Obama administration was alarmed by reports that separatists, mostly from Pakistan's Baluchistan province, had been detained over the past decade and were being held incommunicado.
Jernails are turning the model islamic riyasat into african civil war country.

yo pak lurkers whats wrong with your people why are they begging for indian vijja and citizenship? Isnt paki citizenship 10 times better than SDRE vijja and citizenship? First it was gana bajana walas then cricketers and now hockey players.

Top Pakistan hockey players want to play in Indian league
Top Pakistan hockey players want to be part of the World Series Hockey (League) in India, although the Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) has left the decision on the Indian government.

Top Indian players, along with nearly 60 foreign internationals, will feature in the Indian Premier League (IPL) style league with million-dollar prize money.

Veteran Pakistani striker Rehan Butt said that he was open to playing in the hockey league in India.

"Definitely, we would like to play that league. Our experience in PHL was terrific and I enjoy playing in India more than anywhere else," (did these guys not complain in CWG about hostile crowd and how it affected their performance  )the Daily Times quoted Rehan, who is currently playing in the Malaysian League, as saying.

Zeeshan Ashraf, who led Pakistan to their gold medal winning campaign at the Asian Games in Guangzhou this year, also spoke in the same vein.

As many as 24 Pakistan players had participated in the Premier Hockey League (PHL) during 2005 to 2008. (ANI)

ProPublica:
Pakistan's powerful intelligence service has been accused for years of playing a "double game:" acting as a front-line U.S. ally in the fight against terror while supporting selected terrorist groups which serve Pakistani interests.

Now, for the first time, there is a detailed inside account of how that game is played. The U.S. investigation of the 2008 Mumbai attacks [1] has built a strong case that officers in Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence Directorate (ISI) collaborated with the Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist group in the plot that killed 166 people, six of them Americans. U.S. and Indian investigators say their understanding of the ISI-Lashkar alliance is drawn from the confessions of David Coleman Headley, an American convicted of participating in the Mumbai plot, as well as documents, phone records and electronic eavesdropping.

The Obama administration is expressing alarm over reports that thousands of political separatists and captured Taliban insurgents have disappeared into the hands of Pakistan’s police and security forces, and that some may have been tortured or killed.

The issue came up in a State Department report to Congress last month that urged Pakistan to address this and other human rights abuses. It threatens to become the latest source of friction in the often tense relationship between the wartime allies.

The concern is over a steady stream of accounts from human rights groups that Pakistan’s security services have rounded up thousands of people over the past decade, mainly in Baluchistan, a vast and restive province far from the fight with the Taliban, and are holding them incommunicado without charges. Some American officials think that the Pakistanis have used the pretext of war to imprison members of the Baluch nationalist opposition that has fought for generations to separate from Pakistan. Some of the so-called disappeared are guerrillas; others are civilians.
Separately, the report also described concerns that the Pakistani military had killed unarmed members of the Taliban, rather than put them on trial.

Two months ago, the United States took the unusual step of refusing to train or equip about a half-dozen Pakistani Army units that are believed to have killed unarmed prisoners and civilians during recent offensives against the Taliban. The most recent State Department report contains some of the administration’s most pointed language about accusations of such so-called extrajudicial killings. “The Pakistani government has made limited progress in advancing human rights and continues to face human rights challenges,” the State Department report concluded. “There continue to be gross violations of human rights by Pakistani security forces.”

The Obama administration has largely sought to confront Pakistan in private with evidence of human rights abuses by its intelligence and security forces, fearing that a public scolding could imperil the country’s cooperation in combating Al Qaeda, the Taliban and other extremist groups.

surinder wrote:The TSP expert quoting TSP generals is pure humbug, both on the part of the "expert" for accepting crap, and the general for dishing it out. US Army and special forces operate on Paki soil even now. They have carried out operations there for a long time. Even 20 years ago Aimal Kansi was arrested in Baluchistan by US forces. US forces have gone on raids in Lahore and other cities.

Pakis surrendered to Indians, are they going to actually fight the Americans? Is there anyone that stupid to beleive it?
What TSP generals might be pleading for is that US keep silent and not hurt their H&D by overtly declaring that US forces operate on TSP soil. I don't think US has a problem with that. Of course, if TSP continues to play the double game with US, then US has its 2 key leverages: 1) Humiliate TSPA in the eyes of its people by openly declaring that its forces are in TSP, and of course the big and only issue TSP cares about, 2) hunting down India-specific pigLeTs part of GWOT.

Hmm,
Interesting things developing at the case against General Shuja Pasha and the ISI for involvement in the Mumbai 26/11 attacks front.

If the heat gets too much, and Gen Kiyani fears that the long arms of the US law are reaching for his neck (He was most likely involved too), he might 'extract' an AQ Khan style TV confession from Shuja Nawaz Pasha too.

Mark my words, that day might not be far off when we will see General Pasha on Prime Time Pee TV reading out an apology for 'involvement by omission' in 26/11 (or BB's murder for that matter).

But the interesting thing to note is that Shuja Pasha has created escape routes for himself already. He duly informed BB that she might be murdered, and he duly informed the CIA that there was a plot to attack Mumbai - and all the while plotting to do the two dastardly deeds.

This is the kind of people and mindset that we are dealing with in Pakistan

If the Law Suit against ISI does succeed, there might come to be an Interpol warrant against Kiyani and Shuja. At least they won't be able to travel anywhere in any Western land. That leaves a few Muslim countries and China, where they could go. All the watering holes in London and USA will be gone.

I'd like to see Dead or Alive on their heads.

Here everyone is assuming that 'if' US convicts pasha, then this will happen that will happen,. But the biggest thing is IF.

Of course US knows how to play the great game and it will play it right this time also , whatever it is .

Paki H&D level is decided by US->ISI and later publicized by bunch of fools like zaid ahmed .

If they can get their hands on ISI chief then there is no one left in pakistan who cant be hanged by america . Pasha is a bigger fish than the american mouth . ISI is all about restoring the radical H&D of pakis and cant be touched .

Logically/technically , ISI rules Pakistan .

First some wierd logic
............. As one retired general explained, drone attacks, though ordinary officers and soldiers find them humiliating, are not a critical issue because the Pakistani military cannot do anything about them.

“U.S. ground forces inside Pakistan are a different matter because the soldiers can do something about them,” he said. “They can fight. And if they don’t fight, they will feel utterly humiliated before their wives, mothers, children. It would be a matter of honor, which as you know is a tremendous thing in our society.
...............
As usual, a TFTA General tries to pull a fast one by striking a martial pose.

No sir, it is the appearance of honour which is a tremendous thing in your society. Forget honour, based on history and current evidence every mother's son among you will sell himself, his spouse, and his abbu and ammijan, provided the appearance of honour is maintained.

Didn't know if this belong to BENIS or Stress Watch dhaga or here, but decided to post here. Looks like taller than mountain people are not giving as many freebies as we are being told. Some gems. But definitely worth reading in full.

http://www.thenews.com.pk/TodaysPrintDe ... 12/29/2010
Consider the very, very recent past and the hoax perpetrated by this government about the $35 billion worth of MOUs concluded during the visit of the Chinese prime minister last week. A businessman summoned from Karachi tells a hilarious story of how he and some other businessman were rushed to Islamabad and made to conclude an agreement, the subject of which he has only a faint idea, but enough to know that it was as doable as walking on water.
Half of the so-called $35-billion deals are about more than doubling our annual trade with China. That’s not only ambitious but absurdly unrealistic. Actually, it’s impossible in our present circumstances when factories are closing due to power shortages and the costs of production have soared.
I recall a similar situation in 1995. Benazir Bhutto had sent Mr Zardari to South Korea at the head of a business delegation and he had returned with a sheaf of MOUs amounting to several billion dollars. BB was pleased at her husband’s success and proud of what he had achieved. Our ambassador to South Korea had sent the inevitably glowing report on the “success” of the visit which was essentially an exercise in self-praise, as he was the one responsible for organising it. Sensing my silence as a sign that I did not share her enthusiasm at the outcome, BB asked, “Isn’t it great?”

“Well, let’s put it this way, Prime Minister,” I replied. “If even 1 per cent of the agreements concluded actually happen, that will be exactly 100 per cent more than what I expect.” She gave a wry smile and we heard no more of the MOUs, although later she remembered to give the ambassador an out of turn, and thoroughly undeserved, promotion.
It is a pity that we had to go through the charade last week merely to show that our relations with China are as warm as we pretend they are. Actually, they are not only warm, but hot and glowing, but for reasons that are rooted in the national interests of both. The fake MOUs were not necessary; as usual we overdid the pretence.
I say why not, we are the masters of faking official figures like GDP, trade statistics, number of IAF planes shot down in 3 wars yada yada. Faking $35 bn is 'kis zaad ki patti'.
Some disagree with such a pessimistic depiction of the state we are in and recall the adage that “hope springs eternal in the human breast.” But that’s hardly a good thing. “He who lives on hope will die fasting” is what many here have come to believe. In Pakistan today the tantalising properties of hope have no appeal. It’s not a case of viewing the glass being half empty or half full. We don’t even have a glass. :rotfl: Moreover, in the end hope must be satisfied to become worthwhile, and that’s doesn’t look like happening here, and few believe that it ever will.
The purpose is not to convey an “all is lost” message, but rather to shed the lies and shibboleths by which governments have operated thus far and which have proved so harmful and self-deluding. To bring about the change that is so needed, we have to confess what is wrong and bad in us, to ourselves, rather than hide them in the hope of earning cheap plaudits. When all is said and done, we owe our friends, and ourselves, the truth.
God I just realized I almost pasted the entire article

It may or it may not, but the point is USA would also be saying just as oft, that they can't do anything about the case, as often as Kiyani keeps on saying the TSPA can't march into North Waziristan or Kurram, and go kill some Taliban.

So it is in USA's interest that there is an additional level of screws on Pakistan.

Although I have nothing but contempt for Ejaz Haider, this piece is informative about Pakistan's meddling in Afghanistan long before the Soviets arrived. "Amreeka abandoned us and left us holding the baby" line is thoroughly discredited.

Sharif attacks Zardari, Pak military
Pakistan former prime minister and chief of his own faction of the Muslim League, Nawaz Sharif, has warned that Balochistan was "going the same way as East Pakistan" because President Asif Ali Zardari-led government had entrusted the province to intelligence agencies. "No lessons have been learnt," Sharif said while addressing PML-N workers convention on the occasion of 104th Founding day of the Muslim League.

He said that the influence of the non-democratic forces in the country was strengthening owing to bad governance and corruption. Sharif asked government to constitute a committee comprising lawmakers to sort out Balochistan issue.

He also strongly criticised the ruling government and the Pakistani military in his speech.

"Record levels of corruption can be seen in government. It seems that the only criteria for a high-level government appointment is bad character and a crooked past," he said, amidst slogans raised by supporters for a change in the country.

He said that government and its allies "were beneficiaries of a military dictatorship." He also took credit for the restoration of the suspended judiciary in the country, including the reinstatement of deposed Chief Justice, Iftikhar Chaudhry.

Sharif said that PML-N's support for democratic process must not be construed as backing for 'corrupt' government's survival. We will not be party of any puppetry, he asserted.

Sharif also took former president Pervez Musharraf to task for sabotaging the peace process with New Delhi.
Hmmm........

This is a classic case where you apply the CRamS test (Guru, are you listening?). Is humiliating and implicating TSPA/ISI, and that too on a terrorist attack the unleashed on us SDREs in US interest? SDREs saying I told you so in US interest? Hell no. This bloody circus will be nipped in the bud by "South Asia" experts, and of course true to form, US media will report the intricate legalities verbatim as the state dept feeds them, and TSP will continue to be USA's munna hunting down the mighty "Al Queda" but with lotsa pigLeTs to unleash against India whenever needed. And of course, now that Sonia/Rahul.MMS/DS etc have declared "Hindu terrorists" to be bigger demons than pigLeTs, it suits US just right. All the cards are in place, and so called GWOT will be business as usual.

Army Brigadier's Role in Benazir's assassination
The plot to assassinate former prime minister Benazir Bhutto in 2007 was hatched at the official residence of an army brigadier, a fresh probe report has disclosed in a dramatic revelation.

The new probe conducted under the interior ministry's supervision has also found the role of nine men, including the army brigadier, in the Dec 27, 2007 killing of Benazir Bhutto, Express Tribune said Friday.

The startling findings have been kept under wraps and the report is in the possession of Interior Minister Rehman Malik. It has only been seen by President Asif Ali Zardari, her husband.

Zardari earlier this week temporarily shelved plans to share the contents of the report as he was keen to first take the army into confidence before ordering the arrest of uniformed personnel over their alleged involvement in the assassination.

The inquiry report has said that the five of the nine conspirators are still alive and they are the ones who hired the killers and gave them shelter and logistical support.

The remaining four men, including those sent to kill Bhutto, are already dead.

Men in uniform who were part of the plot provided both logistical support and arranged for rehearsals for the murder were arranged by uniformed persons. Militant groups working in sync with the nine plotters provided the manpower.

The Express Tribune said that the joint investigation team traced two new mobile phone sim cards that were used to communicate on the day Bhutto was murdered.

Sources said that following the latest investigations, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) drew up a detailed questionnaire for General Pervez Musharraf who was then president of Pakistan.

The questions were framed once the role of the nine plotters became clear and the inquiry team managed to lay its hands on the main accused who was part of the plot to eliminate Benazir, the media report said.

Islamabad says won't repeal blasphemy law
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan government on Thursday ruled out a revocation of the country's controversial blasphemy law amid a groundswell of opinion among the civil rights groups against it.

The conviction of a Christian woman under the law recently provoked outrage across the country with a member of the ruling party and former minister Sherry Rehman introducing a bill in Pakistan's parliament for its revocation.

The government, which had earlier called for the need to review the law, seems to have lost its nerve ahead of a proposed bandh in the law's favour on Friday. A coalition of the religious right has called for the countrywide shutter down strike. It earlier held a conference in the law's favour in Islamabad on December 15.

Jamiat Ulema Islam leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman-led, who broke away from the ruling coalition recently, has spearheaded the campaign against the law's repeal and mounted pressure on the government. "The government has no intention to repeal it," religious affairs minister Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah minister told Parliament. He disowned Rehman's bill. "If someone has brought a private member bill, it has nothing to do with the government," said the minister. "The government regards safeguarding Namoos-i-Risalat (the Prophet's sanctity) as its responsibility and believes in it," he added. Shah assured the House that the government wouldn't allow the persecution of the minorities under the law. "We'll not allow them to be wronged," he said. (La-whorei logic any one??)

The Christian woman's conviction renewed the debate against the law. Activists argue that it's used to persecute religious minorities, which account roughly 4% of Pakistan's population.

Can't it somehow be pressured to have the condition of repealing this law as a precondition for World Bank / IMF / Kerry Lugar aids?
Not that I care for Poakland citizens, rather wish to block these aids and wish to see the Jihadis going nuts.

Pakistan said it will challenge in court a US lawsuit accusing officials of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) of providing material support for the Mumbai terror attacks in 2008, Xinhua reported. "The government of Pakistan has taken a firm decision to strongly contest the suit filed
against the ISI, its present and past directors general," the Pakistan foreign ministry said.

The lawsuit was filed by the relatives of two American victims in the attack.

A New York court had issued summons to ISI chief Lt Gen Ahmed Shuja Pasha and other officials of the agency in November.

Summons were also issued to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Zakiur Rahman Lakhvi and Jamaat-ud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed, accused of masterminding the attacks.

"The government of Pakistan and the Pakistan embassy in Washington shall defend the legal suit on behalf of ISI and its directors general fully and properly," the ministry said in a statement.
I hope Govt. Of India intervenes and provides all the evidence and materials including Kasab's investigations to the court and victims.
